Do yourself a favor and visit this great Mexican food joint! We sat in the patio room and it was a little loud but bearable. Drinks were cold and beers perfectly dressed! Fajita tacos were delicious and everything was very affordable! Ran hero beans were the BEST!! Service was good and the waitress was friendly.

Get in your car and pleaseeeee come visit this establishment. When I tell you they serve amazing food, and great customer service. I was in town for business and all I can say is I went 2 days in a row. Each time was greater and full of flavor. I went with the favorite porkchop special. It's huge, 2 pork chops, rice, guacamole, beans and warm tortillas. The salsa is spicy and just the right amount of kick. This chips are hot and fresh. I returned the next day and had the Taco Perricos, marinated beef fajita meat. Loaded plate and enough to share or take home. I took it to my hotel and had a late night treat. Happy faces, full tummies and satisfaction on all menu choices. I promise you won't be disappointed. Take care, happy eating.

This was good. I came on the recommendation of multiple people where I am working this week. It's the best Mexican food I've had in Texas. It has flavor and some spice. Service was friendly. I ordered a few things to try multiple things, and even though I hadn't eaten all day, I couldn't finish everything. my favorite was the cheese enchilada, but the fajita meat in the tacos was excellent. The chile relleno was also very good. The rice had good flavor, and I don't think I had had ranchero beans before. Overall very good, short wait, friendly service. The family also owns "the grill."

Armenta's Cafe has been around for about 28 years and has been serving the residents of San Angelo, Texas. Everyone in town knows, and has been too, Armenta's - and now it's our turn. Armenta's sits on a corner in a residential section of San Angelo with parking of the sides and a big parking lot across the street, where we parked. A good number of people are here and Armenta's has expanded out to one side with a nice large dining area. We went in via the Main Front Door, were greeted by the Hostess and informed to take a seat anywhere you want. Found a booth and made ourselves comfortable. By looking around inside you can tell Armenta's has been around for a long time and has a Very Warm feeling, but well used. It's also kind of crowded with tables in the center stationed pretty close to the booths and the decor is what one would expect in a Mexican Restaurant - nicely done, especially in the newer section. Maci is our Server and brought over a basket of their Very Warm Fresh Chips and a bowl of their Very Hot dipping Sauce, but very Flavorful - and it is HOTTT. My Wife and I started off with a glass of water. We looked over the Menu trying to decide what we want. A couple days ago I informed my Wife and they have Fried Shrimp, which is one of her favorites - and that's what she wants. Maci returned with our waters and we placed our order. My Wife is going with the "Fried Shrimp": 6-Large Fried Shrimp with French Fries, Rice Pilaf, Salad and Toast. I am having "Armenta's Fajita Enchiladas"; 3-Soft Rolled Corn Tortillas filled with Marinated Beef Fajitas, American & Monterrey Cheese. Served with Roasted Tomatoes, Chile De Arbol Sauce, garnished with Guacamole. For our drinks my Wife is having a Diet Coke and I ordered their Horchata. It's been a long time since I had one of those and I LoVe ThEm. Maci took our order and we enjoyed those Warm Chips and HOTTT dipping sauce - that stuff is really goooood. More and more people are coming into Armenta's and all the tables & booths are filled. The adjoining room has it's own outside door for access and they are almost filled up - lots of people are here. Maci brought over our drinks, chatted with us for a short time and I presented her with the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award and she loved it. I don't always hand it out early like this, but Maci is Very Sweet in checking on us as she has and this place is really busy - she earned it. My Horchata is really good with a nice amount of Cinnamon throughout - love that flavor. Soon my Wife's Fried Shrimp arrived and those 6-Large Shrimp are actually Red in color due to the Breading, which has a nice crunch to them and tastylicious Shrimp inside (my Wife let me have one). Her Rice Pilaf is on the dry side but her Salad is Fresh and Crisp. The French Fries are also a little dry and no crunch but you can tell they are All Potato with nothing added. My Fajita Enchiladas is a Beautiful Presentation of the entire dish. The Enchiladas has a fair amount of Fajitas inside and they are different but pretty good. Love the Chile De Arbol Sauce on top, some really good flavor there. The Rice is moist with good flavor and the Re-fried Beans (which was not listed) covered with Cheese is really good - nice flavor. I actually had a couple of my Wife's Shrimp and there were some French Fries left on her plate. I ate all of mine because that's what I do - and I do it very well. Nancy even made a comment about that, that her Mom would be very proud of me cleaning my plate - like I said, it's what I do. Armenta's is pretty good, especially for the price compared to other places. You get some good food that will fill you up for a little money - and some Darn Good Service. The whole time we were there we noticed that All their Staff is really busy taking care of their customers. When we left there were a lot of vehicles parked around Armenta's and the big lot was almost full. We enjoyed our 12th Anniversary outing and Armenta's is a nice place. We are going to lighten it up for our Dinner tonight because we ate a Big Lunch.

    Flash Fried Pork Chop Tacos!

With a quick "yelp" search, we found this Tex-Mex gem! I the party I was with could not believe that we found this place when usually, they are stuck to their chain restaurant habits. Sierra was an excellent server and suggested the flash fried pork chops special... It was everything and more that she said it would be. The fresh flour tortillas are everything you would expect from a West Texas town. Walking in, you could tell you were amongst some good people from cowboy hats, to blue collar workers, to even a few couples that looked as though they were enjoying a one on one date; everyone found something they could enjoy at Armenta's Cafe.

Came for lunch and enjoyed it! I had the carne asada tacos and enjoyed them! I didn't like the rice very much, but the beans were great. I also liked how they gave you limes and a side of other toppings for the tacos. Overall it was a good experience!

Now I can see why that is. My wife and I came in on a Wednesday night about 530 for the first time. It was not super busy at all and we got seated fast. Orders were taken quickly as well. I got the famous original steak bites with a choice side salad. Wife got the daily special Guiso plate with refried beans and Mexican rice and homemade flour tortillas. The meal also came with a complementary plate of refried beans and red and green salsa (with a kick) and chips. It didn't take long for the plates to come out and my were the portions generous! My steak tips were fantastic. A perfect medium and very well seasoned! Melt in your mouth tender! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Guiso and the super tender diced beef in a rich brown gravy. Laura the GM was very kind to us and gave us a little background on the business with it being our first time there. 16 years in business! I see why that's so! I'm coming back again soon to try the same plate I got but 'El Paisano' style with added grilled onions, peppers, and tomatoes.

On Thursday's, Henry's has their Steak Specials running from 11 am until 5 pm, so Steak for lunch sounds like a winner for us. When we arrived, I wasn't really surprised that there are a lot of cars/trucks in the parking lot. Walked in, was greeted by the Hostess, and shown to a table in the Main Dining area. Right away, the Chips & Salsa Lady came by with their Red Salsa, Bean Dip topped with Gravy, and those Fresh Warm Chips for us to enjoy. Right after that, our Server, Monica, stopped by and took our drink order while we looked over the menu, mainly their Thursday Steak Specials. Those Chips and Salsa, which is on the Hot side, are delicious, but I tend to lean toward the Bean Dip topped with Gravy. That is some really good stuff. When Monica returned with our drinks, we placed our order. Joe is having the "KC Steak"; About 16 ounces of Hand Cut Sirloin, requested medium. Served with Baked Potato or French Fries, chose French Fries. Served with Frijoles Borracho's and a Salad. Nancy is having the same thing, but medium rare. I am going with the "Henry's New York Strip Steak"; About 14 ounces. Chose French Fries over the Baked Potato. Served with Frijoles Borracho's and a Salad. All Steaks are tenderized by the In-House-Butcher and seasoned accordingly. Traditional Kansas City-style Steaks are typically seasoned with a blend of Coarse Garlic Salt, Pepper, Coriander, and Chili Peppers. Henry's has other Steaks on their Thursday Specials; Besides the two kinds we ordered, they have "Spanish Steak"; About 14 ounces, with the same sides. The "Chicken Fried Steak"; Their CFS sits in a Cheese-Gravy and is one of the Best CFS's around. And they have the standard "Hamburger Steak"; topped with Brown Gravy & Onions. Right after Monica took our food order, she returned and with Fresh Warm Chips and more of the Red 'Hot' Salsa. That stuff warms you up from the inside out and is very tasty. We enjoyed those Chips and Dips, and then our Salads came out. I topped mine off with their Vinaigrette Dressing, my Wife chose Thousand Island, and I think Joe went with Ranch. Right after we finished the Delicious, Crisp and Flavorful Salads, our Steaks arrived. Henry's has always been pretty quick in serving their food, and the presentation is Spot-On. No matter what plate you order, it's always going to be a Beautiful Presentation. All three of our Steaks are glistening, and the aroma makes your tummy smile. We all three cut into our Steaks and they are Right-On, just the way they should be. I have had the KC Steak before, and it was Very Tastylicious, and that's what my Wife said about hers. Very Tender with lots of Flavor in every bite. Joe loved his also and ate all of it. My Wife didn't eat all of hers because, as she says, she isn't tall enough. I ate all of mine because I am tall enough. It was also Very Flavorful, Tenderlicious and just down-right great. Their Steaks cut very easy with a knife - it just falls through the Deliciousness with ease. Normally, a New York Strip Steak is seasoned by being patted dry, then liberally coated on all sides with kosher salt and black pepper. Some methods involve dry-brining for several hours, while others apply a simple mix of salt, pepper, and garlic powder just before cooking. Don't know if Henry's does theirs this way, but I do know that it's Awesomely Flavored. French Fries are pretty good, and I ate all of mine, but don't tell my Doctor. I'm not suppose to have this much Steak and Potatoes, and I've done this a couple times this week. So - Shhhhhhhhhhhh. No wonder their Frijoles Borracho's are Very Tasty. The Frijoles Borracho's (Drunken Beans) are a classic dish featuring Pinto Beans slow-simmered with Beer, Bacon, and aromatic Vegetables. Other key ingredients are Bacon rendered fat, Garlic, Jalapenos, Tomatoes, Cilantro, and dark Mexican Beer. All of that in a bowl for your enjoyment. And believe me, you will enjoy these. Monica earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. She checked on us at just the right times and was very pleasant to talk to. She also described how the Steaks were seasoned, prepared, and that the KC Steak is her favorite. She is Awesome. When we left, Henry's was pretty busy, as expected. Maybe they all came for the Steaks. On the way home, we enjoyed another Beautiful San Angelo Afternoon.

As soon as you walked through the door, Brian, greeted me and from that second made me feel like long lost family. Very welcoming. It was a Sunday morning and he asked where I was from, I explained from where and why I was in town. Brian genuinely listened and he offered his prayers. You don't get this kind of service anywhere in California. It's true,Texas, people are so much nicer and hospitality really is something to be admired. I went to pay and Brian stunned me, when he wouldn't take my money and told me that I had bigger things to worry about than paying for my breakfast. After listening to me vent and pray for me and wouldn't take my money. This man really is a good human being. I'm telling you, shocked doesn't explain the feeling at that moment. I watched him interact with other customers and he was the same way being personable. "TASTY DELICIOUS MEXICAN RESTAURANT"…read more Yesterday my Wife prepared a Salad for 20 people and we dropped it off right around Dinner time, so, since we are out and about we decided to go out to eat at a place that was recommended to us that we have never been - and it's right up the street from where we dropped off the Salad. Well, kind of up the street, but it's close enough. Arrived at "Jalapenos Locos" at around 6:30pm or so, a half hour before Happy Hour ends. The place is beautifully decorated and packed but there is a booth open for us. The Chips and Salsa girl was right there for us to start enjoying what is a staple at every Mexican Restaurant. Right behind her was our Server, Dina. We inquired about their Margaritas and ordered two Frozen Margaritas. Dina also explained what their Specials of the Day are, the Fried Catfish and the Combination Dinner. Both sounded just like what we wanted to order. My Lovely Wife is having their "Fried Fish Friday Special"; Hand Breaded Fish with house made Tartar Sauce & Two Lemon Wedges, served with Crispy Golden Brown French Fries. I am having the "Friday Special Combination Plate"; Two Crunchy Beef Tacos with Lettuce & Tomato, Two Chicken Enchiladas (choice) covered in a Sour Cream Cheesy Sauce, served with Refried Beans & Rice. Orders are complete. Now for those Chips & Salsa. The Chips are served warm, crunch and a nice flavor. The Salsa is also served warm and it has a very fresh peppery flavor, one of the Best I have ever had with just the right amount of Spiciness. Soon our Frozen Margaritas arrived and we love the glasses. These are so 'thick' that my Wife started eating hers with a fork. I'm using the straw and it is holding up fine, but stirring helps. They are some of the Best Tasting Margaritas Ever - deliciousness at it's finest. Jalapenos Locos consist of two rooms, one side with dining room tables and booths, the other side is the large Bar with dining room tables, and both sides are filled with people waiting to take over any empty table/booth. Dina stopped by and we chatted for a while and she pointed out to the gentleman and lady at the booth next to us, it's the Owner, Bernie. Bernie turned around and we also chatted with him. This guy is the real deal - down to earth type and was great talking to him. You know a Restaurant has really good food when the owner eats there also, right next to you. The Host/Hostess at the door entrance greets everyone like family, because all the customers here are like family to all the staff. Happiness is all over Jalapenos Locos. Dina earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. Soon our food arrived and both plates are a Beautiful Presentation of Mexicanliciousness. Lots and lots of Fish on that plate, with a good amount of Golden French Fries. My Wife LOVES her Fried Fish and the house made Tartar sauce is right-on. The breading on the fish is crispyliciousness with the fish being fresh, flaky and tasty. I had two pieces of them and I can truthfully say this fish the Best and is Very Tastylicious - and served Hot. My Beef Crunch Tacos are loaded up to the top and have a Tacolicious taste in every bite, especially with their Salsa. The Chicken Enchiladas are stuffed with a lot of shredded Chicken and are Very Enchiladalicious. Love that Sour Cream Cheesy Sauce - it's some really good stuff. The Refried Beans and Rice area also very delicious. When you first walk inside the decor catches your eyes and makes you feel like you are in an a truly delicious Mexican Restaurant, and when they serve you their Margaritas and your food, you start enjoying some of the finest around.
