I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and you know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner. read more

The place is small but cozy! Aiden was the best server! He was knowledgeable about the meal recommendations and was polite and courteous! The appetizer was a cheese and guacamole dip.. this was not the best queso but the guacamole was delicious! We ordered the blackened fish and 8oz sirloin! The steak had a good char and was well seasoned too! I order my steak rare and it was rare! Yes! The loaded mashed potatoes were very good too! The fish was well cooked and not dry. 1/2026 our friends treated us here for dinner our first week in San Angelo after relocating from the Great Lakes area. My husband and I were really disappointed with our bbq rib dinner because both of our dinners were barely warm. Our friends told us to flag down our waitress and send them back. Our waitress was really nice so I'm not going to unload on this place in my review. Highly unlikely we will come back. UPDATED REVIEW, today 3/14/26 we returned for a second try. Who knows what happened the first go around but let's move on. This evening my husband and I both had the bbq rib dinner as shown and WOW, what a difference. These ribs were perfectly prepared, served hot, tender off the bone, the bbq sauce was perfect as were the fries and coleslaw. Our friends had the roasted chicken dinner and a salmon dinner and the both were very pleased with their choices. The restaurant was busy and had a great vibe. This was really a perfect dinner with great company and a really wonderful staff. So, after tonight's visit I've upped to 5 stars and we look forward to our next visit. Came here as it was close to my hotel and had some good reviews. I ordered the New Mexico patty melt with fries and was very happy with the meal. Burger was cooked to order and was quite flavorful with a nice kick from the green chiles. It was served on a very flavorful rye bread that was slightly bigger than the burger so there were a few bites of just bread, but it was very good bread so I didn't mind! The restaurant features an open kitchen so it was fun to watch the cooks making the food. The music was really enjoyable, and not so loud as to be annoying. My waitress was pleasant but didn't do a very good job of checking up on me. I ordered an excellent ale to start and finished it soon after my meal arrived. I was hoping for another but she didn't come by to check on me until I was nearly done with my meal. I mentioned this to her and she apologized, but there was no sincerity in her voice or her actions. Overall a good experience and I definitely recommend the restaurant. I just hope you get a server with a little better people skills. read more

The brisket was delicious tacos were delicious. I also ordered the cornbread but do not recommend the it. It would fall apart when I attempted to eat it. The texture and favor were not that good. The price on my entree plate was around $16.00. The bread was a bit pricey considering it's not that good. Plus it seemed that I had been served a 3 day old cornbread. I hope the cook baked a better batch. Or maybe he just doesn't have pride in his work. I had tried this place because it had a good rating. I won't be back. The Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in San Angelo! The food is always amazing and the service and atmosphere are great as well. The smoked salmon app is top notch...and the jalapeño cornbread app is next level. I am pretty sure they use it for the croutons in the salad also... elevates the whole salad! The surf and turf is reasonably priced and one of the best I have had. And their drinks are delicious with a nice selection and variety of top shelf liquors. A must try when in San Angelo! read more

This is one of the restaurants that everyone recommended to me when I asked about where to eat. I say in their enclosed patio because it was heated and warmer than inside the restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. Food was good. I got the cast iron corn bread planning on taking it home. That was amazing. I was told it had poblano peppers. But it also has cheese! I also got the brisket tacos. They were very good. I had had the ribs recommended to me, but the waitress said it was a lot of food, and I am leaving town soon. So I'll it some other time. I got the tres leches cake to go. It also was great. Not the best I've had, that's still in Ecuador. But it was saturated and flavorful. It had fruit and whipped cream on the side. Both plusses! My server/wait staff, BRAD...was super. This gentleman took care of tea refills and was extremely attentive to my wife and I . I was just wish I remembered his last name. This young man was beyond extraordinary. The ambience was a little louder than I would like...however the service and delectable food was worth a little noise. The only reason I went here is because of their KEY LIME pie. I also love the appetizer of guacamole and queso. One of my favorite main courses is the Meat Loaf. I had to tell them to leave some of the sweetness off, but they did comply with that request. Sometimes Meat Loaf is too sweet for me. I prefer it to be more savory. read more

Does this 1/4 inch, "12oz" ribeye steak look like it is worth $48?! Given the menu did state this over priced "seven steak" was market value. I always put my wallet in the hands of a chef to deliver a top notch product if the price is inflated. I'm a foody I will pay way to high of prices for a unique experience, and or excellence. But today I feel over charged and honestly....left in a bad mood. I saw the gentlemen behind me had ordered this as well as I walked out I said, "doesn't look like a $48 dollar steak does it"? As his eyes widened I could tell this good ol country boy knew he should have just cooked one at the house too. Cornbread is really good worth the money all day. Chicken parm was just about as good as fazoli's. Nothing special. Also if you order queso it's pimento cheese without the pimento lol. I suggest you go to cork and pig or angry cactus for your beef folks. You will be much happier. Or the grill can up their game cut a nice thick steak. I mean roadhouse was better quality. It was my first time in San Angelo TX and I arrived about 8:00 pm hoping to find a restaurant with a bar still serving until 9 pm that wasn't a chain. The smell as you walk up to the restaurant was enticing enough for me! They had some drink specials, a wonderful wine and beer selection and very friendly service. I never had "Rotisserie Pork Chops" - they were perfectly seasoned and cooked in a way that they weren't dry. You get 2 big, bone-in chops!! The Grill was so good that I made a reservation for the next night and brought 5 more people. Six people at a table can be a little tight in the restaurant, but there's always outside seating. Service on both nights was perfect. I had the rib-eye that night. On any future trips, I'm going to have to try the Rotisserie Chicken. read more

I think the chef needs to revisit the recipe. It was served with tasteless white rice and canned black beans. The meat was tender but bland and served with cold mini corn tortillas. We took the meat to go and I made actual birria tacos by placing the tender beef inside a fried corn tortilla with cheese. This evening our server Brianna was attentive and ensured we had our drinks topped off. Then there is the food! Zuni Chicken Salad - roasted chicken with bacon vinaigrette! The crunch of the pecans and sweetness of the raisins were a perfect combination to the spinach leaves. It all jived together like a well orchestrated play. My cousin had the Mexico City Enchiladas. The taste was like a little bit twist of chili powder and chipotle in a creamy dark red sauce. Topped with cheese and stuffed with chicken. They were very tasty. My cousin finished the whole plate. I only got one bite!! My appetizer was chips, cheese and guacamole. I don't normally do a chunky guac, but this was different. Almost like a spread. The cheese reminded of pimento cheese but with flavor! I'm usually a person that pays attention to detail, most times and in this case we got to sit in the very back. I watched as the cooks carefully prepared steaks, and plates. I watched how the the cook brought in fresh cut wood for the grill. I watched the back line cooks prepare fresh guacamole by slicing each one with precision. Then adding like juice and other ingredients. The other back prep cook was slicing what appeared to be a freshly seasoned bone in pork loin. He was slicing it into pork chops.
