This was my first time hiring movers and J & G Moving exceeded my expectations! The move went so…read moresmoothly that I highly recommend them. I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. These guys provide excellent customer service and I was very impressed by them.

If I was in your position I wouldn't waste any more time looking further as this is the best it gets. They helped me so much and the two guys they sent were so nice. I can not say enough good things about them. They came with a multitude of supplies to ensure all my things were taken care of and the speed at which they moved was unmatched. I have a really large television and they managed to get it off the wall with ease. Lastly they have the best insurance and they sent me the COI that my building requested (luxury building)..I will be recommending them to all of my friends and family. In all honesty this was the best moving experience I ever had. I wouldn't have used any other company. If you don't contact them at least for an estimate you would be doing a dis-service to yourself.

They had seamlessly loaded the contents of my 650 square foot apartment including large/heavy fragile furniture with glass (8 foot tall dresser with mirror weighing 250 lbs, and 50 galloon reptile tank) in about 1 hour. We promptly left via car to meet them at our new address in Philly, and they arrived at exactly the same time as we did. They unloaded the truck in about an hour again, and helped partially unpack and put items in the proper places, especially the furniture that would have been hard for me to move on my own later. I will continue to use Piece of Cake, and have recommended to several friends over the years that I have been using them. It was quick working with the customer support team initially to quote the move, make payment, and on COIs and confirmation. When we move again in a couple years Piece of Cake will be the only mover I call. My recommendation to others considering the service, be transparent and honest about the contents of your move, especially items requiring extra protection even if there is an additional fee involved. There were no surprise add-ons in my move because we carefully selected every single item that would be included in our move early on in the process, and made sure to reply in detail to the follow up emails regarding insurance, access to the apartments (stairs vs elevator, reserved elevator, etc.), and so on move-in day everything went off without a hitch. As detailed as this review will be, there was even more at play which couldn't be summarized, but here are the highlights. The job was to move most of the contents of a 3000 square foot home to a local storage facility with a small amount going to a temporary local rental. In the beginning of the relationship, the sales person was so helpful, visiting my home, inspecting the contents, estimating the packing and storage needs. He recommended a local storage facility and even told me how many square feet of storage would be needed. Out of an abundance of caution, I doubled that. The day before the move, packers came and did some of the last minute stuff. So far all was good. Then came moving day and that's when it all fell apart. The team worked hard but the supervisor was just impossible. If I spoke directly to any of the team (or even responded to direct questions) he advised me not to do so and informed me that he was the boss and I should only speak to him because he made all the decisions. My response was that if he wanted all communication to be through him then he should advise his team. Regardless, the movers were treated well... coffee and donuts for breakfast, pizza and soda for lunch and Wendy's and snacks for dinner over the course of what turned out to be a 14 hour day. More on that later. All day long I reminded the supervisor that certain items would need to be loaded into the storage facility first but his answer was consistently "I'm not worried about that". Finally the vans are packed, first load is dropped off at the temporary rental and we head to the storage facility but when we arrived we're shocked to learn that the vans would not fit in the loading zone (under the building) so they have to be parked next door and travel a busy street by foot with all of my belongings. No other option because at this point it's 7pm and the facility is closed with no representative onsite. I had relied on molloy's salesperson since he recommended the storage facility and this should have been investigated prior to his recommendation since he knew the size of his vans and I did not. All of the extra time spent during the move was due to this hardship. At this point none of the team, including the supervisor, were even remotely happy. Attitudes changed, moving slowed to a crawl. Around 8:30 pm I reminded the supervisor that we'd no longer have access to the facility after 10 pm and he told the team, in Spanish, thinking I wouldn't understand, that it was time to start moving faster. Due to careless packing (with zero regard to my pleas that certain items had to go in last to be accessible), the storage lockers filled up quickly. Back to the rental we go to pack the overflow and wow all of a sudden everyone was moving with lightning speed. All is finally said and done and the supervisor completes his paperwork and I offer him a generous stack of cash as a gratuity despite the fact that I was far less than satisfied, but the men did work hard all day and even though I paid for meals, etc. throughout the day. His response was "is this just for me? What about the rest of the guys" to which I replied "you're the boss that's for everyone please distribute it". Well how much is it he says and when I told him .... He just said ok and turned around and left. Not even a thank you. Regardless the very next business day I explained all of the circumstances to my moving coordinator and the salesperson and they couldn't have been more apologetic saying that they frequently receive complaints about this particular supervisor because he is not a "people person". My salesperson assured me he'd make it right and make me a satisfied customer. But... a week or two later all I received was an invoice for additional charges! To the tune of $1300!!! I immediately messaged him and ask him to call me and his answer was "I can't talk right now please message me your concerns", to which he replied that his hands were tied and there's nothing he can do. I received one long winded semi apology stating that if I could give molloy another chance he'd make it right and make sure that supervisor was not assigned to my storage move out. My reply was that I couldn't in good conscience do so and I still would like to hear from him with some curative regarding the overtime expenses which were his liability due to poor estimating and lack of properly researching the storage facility. To date, almost a month later, he still has not replied. Certainly not the way to satisfy an alienated customer. Please use a company that cares about their business and reputation because this one clearly does not.

Summary: + good price…read more+ fast and overall fine service + overall nice workers - poor communication - some unprofessionalism - some damages I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately landed on 3. I want to provide enough context so anyone considering Solidarity Movers can make an informed decision. Overall, this was one of the better moves I've had, but not one that warrants the 5-star reviews I see here. My husband and I moved from MA to NY due to family circumstances. The move was already stressful before it began, which is relevant because Solidarity was recommended by a friend who had a great experience with them. Given some poor experiences I've had with movers in the past, I felt confident choosing them. Unfortunately, things started off rocky. I completed a video walkthrough, received an initial quote, and then requested a revision. After that, communication stalled. Multiple follow-ups went unanswered, and I couldn't even get confirmation that my request was being worked on. After about a day of silence while other companies were responding consistently, I was ready to book elsewhere and left a review reflecting my experience. Within minutes, owner Zak called me. He was understanding, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my concerns. Communication improved immediately, I received the revised quote, and their pricing felt fair, so I booked the move. A couple of weeks before the move, I reached out to confirm everything was still on track and asked about payment. I was told, in writing by Mike, that the remaining balance would be due "upon completion of your move." To me, that clearly meant after delivery. The move was scheduled for June 19 with overnight delivery on June 20. The crew was originally expected between 12 PM and 2 PM but arrived around 4 PM due to traffic. Traffic happens, and I had no issue with the delay itself. The crew was polite, worked efficiently, and seemed to handle our belongings with care. Unfortunately, this is where my experience started to decline. While packing, I overheard two crew members make a joke about my husband and me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was disappointing to become the subject of a gay joke, especially from a company that publicly projects queer allyship. I chose not to make an issue of it, but another customer may have felt differently. Once loading was complete, the foreman informed me that the remaining balance was due immediately. This directly contradicted the written communication I had received. When I raised the issue, Mike acknowledged there had been a miscommunication but insisted I still had to pay on the spot. What made the interaction frustrating was how dismissive he came across. He stated this was standard procedure and said he would investigate the miscommunication, but unless there is another Mike, the miscommunication originated with him. Rather than create additional stress for myself, I paid the balance and moved on. To be clear, I still tipped the crew generously because they worked hard. By the end of the move, they had received $1,200 total in gratuity, or $400 per mover. The next day, delivery was delayed again due to traffic, but the unloading process itself was quick and organized. The crew followed instructions, reassembled our storage bed, and got everything into the house efficiently. After unloading, I was asked to sign paperwork stating everything had been delivered without damage. This struck me as odd because we hadn't unpacked a single box yet, so there was no realistic way to verify that. Like many people at the end of a move, I signed because I was exhausted and just wanted the process finished. While unpacking later, I discovered our $1,500 credenza had been damaged. Two interior shelves were broken, one completely split in half. Several glass items were also broken in transit. Nothing irreplaceable, but damage nonetheless. Could I file a claim? Sure. But after an already stressful interstate move, I don't have the time or energy to go through another lengthy process. Instead, I'm leaving this review so others can make an informed decision. Despite everything, I would still consider recommending Solidarity Movers, especially for a local move. The crew worked hard, and this was far from the worst moving experience I've had. However, the communication issues, payment confusion, dismissive handling of that confusion, inappropriate comment, and damage to our belongings prevent me from rating the experience higher. If you're reading reviews because you're planning a move and trying to make the best decision possible, I hope this helps. Wishing you the best of luck!
