This review is going to be limited because we just stopped for a quick lunch bite and a sip on our trip out to Snohomish. We hadn't had calamari in a while and it's kind of our thing. I didn't have high hopes because lately all our stops have been sub par. BUT, not gonna lie, these fried calamari were probably some of the best I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, light crispy coating and served with a lovely aioli. Also the entree Caesar salad was great to share as well. THANK YOU for not making the dressing too heavy and too fishy! Arnie's has started charging a 4.5% service charge on all their meals. The restaurant keeps the entire amount. They justify it as recouping the cost of a "Fair Wage and benefits" to their Serving and Kitchen staff. It appears as an attempt to move away from tipping. I spoke with their service staff about it. They confided that the "Fair Wage" is minimum wage. Not a living wage. The restaurant's attempt to profit on our culture's growing confusion regarding tipping is simply greed. The Servers have been hurt by making customers think that perhaps they don't have to tip or should reduce the amount of the tip. Arnie's is simply trying to take income from their service staff and charge 4.5% more for their menu. This is appalling. I will not be returning to a restaurant I have long enjoyed. read more

I've always enjoyed their shrimp and crab melt. However, today it was nothing like the lunch I've enjoyed in the past. The sandwich was served cold with layer of cheese on top with the shrimp and crab mixture mediocre at best. The kitchen staff needs to be consistent with the food quality. Very outdated old school restaurant along the Marina in Edmonds. Nice views from each table I was there for happy hour and order the crab cocktail as it was recommended by my waiter. It arrived and I quickly noticed that it was frozen shredded parts of the Dungeness. It tasted pretty meh. He admitted it was taken out from a large previous frozen bag and quickly brought me some steam clams instead. The crab cocktail as taken off my bill and all is well. Went here with a 8:30 reservation for my birthday. Arrived and seated at 8:25. Maybe 6 tables in the entire restaurant on a nice Friday evening. We have been to Arnies many times in the past but not lately in the last 6-8 months. It has declined dramatically since then based on this experience. First the good: service from Adrian was very good and the bartender made us absolutely wonderful drinks. Now the bad: the food. Ordered 2 specials, a pan seared ribeye and the king salmon. The salmon dish was ok, slightly overcooked & a tad dry. The ribeye (ordered medium) was an embarrassing disaster. First one out was cooked to well done, dry, & maybe 1/2 thick and was so tough it resembled shoe leather. Sent it back. Second time it was cooked medium as requested but still a pathetic piece of 1/2" meat that we ended up taking most of home to feed to our dog. By the time we got our food there were maybe 3 other tables in the entire restaurant. Mmmm, wonder why. Did I mention the ribeye special was $40! With a mandatory restaurant added 4.5% to your bill that's $42! For that?!!! Save your $s & go down the street to Anthony's. read more

Arnies Restaurant has a fantastic view of the water in Edmonds and is worth a visit just for that. The restaurant itself is kind of aged and the menu seems a little dated, but they serve good food. We were there for brunch and had a nice table with a view. Service was very good through the meal. I was not drinking but someone had a mimosa and liked it. I ordered the eggs benedict and a sticky bun (which comes with it). This was a classic benedict and quite good. I also enjoyed the sticky bun. Others ordered an omelet and the Northwest Favorite breakfast. Everybody liked their food, but nobody really loved it. Just very solid. Friday night. Place not busy. Temperature outside 74 degrees. 18 people gathered for a birthday dinner. The air conditioning was on so cold, we all about froze. I went out to the car a retrieved a fleece , other got jackets. Food was good and all served at the same time. So that was good. Did I mention it was cold in there. I have been to this restaurant a few times through the years, but I have to say that this weekend's lunch with friends was the best Yes, the restaurant can look a bit dated, but the views are lovely and the atmosphere was vibrant in the bar area. It is not inexpensive but the meals we all had were well portioned and delicious. My choice of " Golden Mojito" was great and my main course of halibut, from the day's fresh sheet, was absolutely delicious. Probably one of the best restaurant halibut dishes I have ever had. The crust on the fish with moist white flesh, the tender asparagus, the potatoes with crunchy edges and soft creamy bodies and the caper sauce- they were all fantastic.....and the dessert of berry cobbler with ice cream was delicious too. Been to this location many times before and never had such slow service. Food was delicious as always but server was too busy for us in the bar for the first 10 minutes with just a not a lot of other tables, then took at-least 30 minutes for a few appetizers. There was one other table near us that was waiting just as long for their food, while tables with another server nearby were seated after us, and left before us when they had full meals while we only had a few appetizers. I went to Arnie's with my mother for Mother's Day. When I saw the majority of its customers were older people, I was right to assume that any seasoning other than salt would not be used. The service was fine, but I'm not one to really harp on that. I got the Oven Roasted Stuffed Prawns, which were fine but they had the shell still on them which made it difficult to eat without using my hands. The rice was also incredibly flavorless and at times I wasn't sure it was fully cooked. The vegetables had no seasoning to speak of. The crème brûlée, which they called a 'Burnt Cream' (making my eye twitch), was great though. Probably the only thing I had that I enjoyed, but I also love crème brûlée. Overall, it was fine but I probably will not return. Our meal totaled to around $150, which I felt wasn't worth what we got. This also includes an extra 4.8% surcharge that went entirely to the House, not the staff, which is the trend right now for Washington restaurants. 3 stars solely because I've had worse food and the crème brûlée was good. read more

Food was great but service was horrible. This is my 3rd visit in 6 months where service has been horrible. Our server (bill said her name was Riley) acted like she hated being there. We had to ask for her from other staff 3 separate times when we wanted drink refills, dessert, and our bill. Note our bill was $300! We ordered drinks, appetizers, meals and dessert. She would forget what people would order. 3 of us ordered mixed drinks and 1 a beer. She brought mixed drinks and had to ask again what beer he ordered. Then at end of meal she came to clear plates and asked if we needed a box. We said no. She cleared 2 of 3 plates and then just disappeared... it was just a bad experience for what I would call a "higher end" restaurant... I want to say that the food and drinks were very good and the reason we do like coming to Arnies! What's worse is this is the 3rd bad service experience in last 6 months. Other 2 visits were at lunch with different servers. Just no attentiveness, had to ask for our server multiple times throughout experience. They would just disappear. And, for those of you who read my reviews know, the more extended answer is as follows: This was a last-minute decision when a dear friend flew in from Denver. It was a beautiful summer evening in Edmonds, and we took full advantage of it! Admittedly, another restaurant down the street had another hour's wait due to a couple of happy party reservations running a bit late. I decided to call Arnie's to see if they were available, I am so happy they were! Here are just a few of the points to consider: * Their view is (in my humble opinion) even better! Being able to see the ferries on our right, coming across and then anchor in was a delight for all of us. Seeing the beautiful Puget Sound is always a delight, regardless of the weather. At Arnie's, the view from every table is pretty much fantastic. I also appreciated their window coverings that allowed you to see out but stopped the intense sunshine onslaught. * THE FOOD IS REALLY GOOD! Two of us had the Copper River Salmon with a macadamia-pesto crust, potato mash and perfectly done, thin asparagus spears. Yum! Other places tend to accidentally drown the taste of this magnificent salmon with a similar macadamia crust. It happens...but not at Arnie's. The beautifully grilled salmon was the headliner, as it should be! My beautiful, adult daughter had the kid's menu grilled cheese sandwich with French fries and fresh fruit. She has Williams Syndrome, which tends to make most of those experiencing this issue really, really picky about food. The bread Arnie's uses is a type of thick-cut, sourdough bread...I held my breath...SHE LOVED IT! Who knew? Hurray! I also eyed their gorgeous fish and chips. Someone across from me was gobbling a plate of it down but I showed monumental restraint and did not, even once, try to create a distraction in order to try to snag a piece. Fellow guest, you are welcome. * Now for something I tend to consider almost as important as the food, he customer service. One word: WOW! From the young man who answered the phone when l called in to check on availability, to the gal who greeted us, to the same young man who seated us, to our wonderful server - it was seriously great! I love when a server especially, can, as they say, "read the room" or more importantly, each table. Karen, yes, that is her name but NOT her attitude, was a delight! She had several very different tables and treated every single one with this great smile and personally attentive way. She has that rare ability to respect her guests and treat them in a manner that best meets their needs. That is impressive. My dear friend who had flown just in, was a lead flight attendant for several decades. We both were so, forgive the redundancy, impressed! * THEN, we were surprised by another server, AJ, who played on the same high school football team as our son, and who my husband had also coached while they were there! Just going to say, this was the best! I have to add this, too. AJ was also a perfect example of a quality server! He was respectful of our dinner, gently asking if we were from Snohomish, not trying to intrude but just saying "hello". Of course, if you know me, there were huge hugs! AJ was so kind (our daughter often went to practice with my husband so all of the "wild boys" as she called them, knew her) and yet, he was right back to caring for his guests. Having been involved in customer service my entire life, that is also something to note! * My friend also likes to say; "Leadership puts their footprint on everything, good or bad." The management of Arnie's gets it. They are welcoming. They work hard to give everyone a great experience both in service and food. Go there. Yes, it is more casual than the restaurant down the way, yay! Every restaurant has its own niche. This one fulfills theirs perfectly. Go to Arnie's, you will thank me. read more

This is only a partial review, because I haven't properly explored their menu yet, but as we limped into town after two days of driving and a variety of misfortunes, I just desperately needed tasty protein. The pit-roasted salmon provided. It was probably the best salmon I've ever had. The seasoning was complex and flavorful. The texture was perfect. Visited yesterday for some celebrations. Food quality seems to have declined. Three of the four diners reported disappointing meals. The Fish and Chips person was happy. The Pad Thai had a weird flavor profile (I know, don't order that in a seafood restaurant, but it had 3 or 4 shrimp...). Ambience was good, as always, service was fine. We dislike the "we charge your tip automatically" policy with a vengeance. It's a shame because we like(d) Arnies and have visited many times. Just plain disappointing! The service was lacking. When the food arrived the lamb delicious but was so tough it was unpalatable. The server offered that I pick another option so I ordered the chicken Parmesana which was just not good. My husband's seared scallops were not seared in any way. Great location, right on the water. Most tables have a water view. The restaurant itself feels clean, but dated - the furniture was bought at the height of nineties style and then never revisited - lots of light tan wood. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. Bread service happened right away and we never found ourselves without water or waiting in between meals. The food was probably 3.5 stars. I had the cod and chips which were crispy with a lot of cod - and there was a ton of fries. My mom had the mixed grill - she said the scallops and shrimp were great but the salmon was a bit over cooked. I also had chocolate cake for dessert - well, I had it for four desserts as I had to take it home - it was huge! Lots of layers, great balance of icing and cake. read more

Superb brunch on Sunday - VERY reasonably priced for the quality and service. Super-friendly and competent waitress, nice view, and almost every dish was outstanding. Prime Rib Hash, Eggs Benedict, cinammon rolls, were all first-class. The included champagne was quite excellent and far above standard, and ditto on the small-blend local coffee used. I met some friends for dinner at their favorite restaurant in Edmonds. They have been coming here for 15ish years and me many of the staff by name and their families. Soo, a great testament to begin. I found the food tasty, and the menu prices reasonable. The staff was very personable and attentive. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful harbor view. My only nitpick is the 4% charge on the menu prices. Why not just raise the prices? If you are coming here for a meal, the food, service and view are the real motivations, if it was the price, you would be going through a local drive thru. read more

Just not a fan...ordered the Arnie's Trio Louie and I'm sorry I didn't take pictures to support this review. I would rename that salad a "salmon filet salad with a touch of crab and shrimp" - - and I can't recall the last time I had anything with crab that didn't include at least one Dungeness crab leg. The 2 tablespoons spoons of crab was comprised of shredded body meat. The 10-12 bay shrimp were laughable. And the big, palm-sized filet of salmon laid on top (I assume to cover up the fact that the other shellfish was essentially non-existent) was terribly over cooked. Our window table showcased a panaramic view of the misty Puget Sound and multiple shorelines and islands in the distance, along with nearby docks housing many vessels. The menu items ordered, Ceasar shrimp Louie and Alaska cod fish and chips were well-prepared. The fish 'n chips were shared with approval. A basket of sour dough bread served before the meal was fresh and warm with soft butter. We applied a limited gift coupon given by a friend, which only sweetened the deal. With the coupon this lunch totaled under $35. The diner picking up the tab, felt that the menu prices were more than fair. Three strikes -- you're out! I've been here with the same friend three times in the past eight months, and not once did you get it right. I was excited to order Eggs Benedict on our first visit, as I didn't have to make it myself, but was very disappointed. The chef had a heavy hand with the salt and clearly didn't taste the Hollandaise before serving. On the second visit, I hoped it was just a fluke. It wasn't. The English muffin was soggy, and the egg was overcooked. This last visit was par for the course. I wanted the proof and you succeeded, unfortunately. An omelet that was severely overcooked with the fillings falling out instead of adhering to the egg that was more like a baked soufflé. smh I understand restaurants have off days but this level of inconsistency is unacceptable. After paying for my meal on a Friday evening, the server gave me back the wrong credit card. The manger called me Saturday morning about the mix-up, that they talked to the customer whose card I had, and that he agreed to drop it off on that day. I went that afternoon to hand the other customer's card to the manager whom I spoke to (my card had not been dropped off yet). Due to unforeseen conflicts, I ended up going there on Monday for the card exchange. The host went tried to give me back the other customer's card I had given them on Saturday, and my card had STILL not been returned. I even gave the host my driver's license but she apparently did not look at it. My irritation is how this was handled. That I was subject to the whims and schedule of the other customer in order to get my card back. I was able to monitor my card after locking it, thankfully. Nope. There were flies in the lobby, when we first walked in. Not a good sign. When we sat down, it smelled funny and the decor was from ages ago. I have been to Arnies over the years and it used to feel nice but it hasn't updated at all and really needs to. The food is ok but nothing to write home about. read more
