We absolutely love this spot. The rotating menu always has something for everyone. The kids menu is incredible. The service is fast and friendly. Tables are shared but we've almost never had trouble finding space for 3-4. They have high chairs for little ones and a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The desserts are superior! Overall, it was disappointing. The space is really cool, love the drinks program, but that's Copperworks, separate from De La Soil. At the price points I expected tastier, better seasoned and slightly larger portions. I'm not expecting Claim Jumpers size, but just didn't feel like I got value in return. I got the pork collar ($28). It was literally 4 teenie tiny slices of pork, it was dry, just not great for $28. Buddy got the smash burger ($23). I had half, it was fine, nothing too special. The fries were good though, skin on, super crispy. Think Dick's fries, but twice fried. The heirloom tomato tartine was actually the best dish (no joke). It was $14, prob the best tasting tomato I've had in a very long time. Very nicely seasoned with black salt I think? And the soft cheese with the tomato and bread was really good, I'd recommend. Daughter had the kids red sauce pasta ($10 or $12, I forgot). I had a taste it was very good too, assuming they used just as good quality tomatoes for the sauce. I realize they probably use incredibly good quality ingredients, and we're paying for that, but overall it just was average. Also, it's seat yourself, walk up ordering, and signs up to bus yourself. Totally fine with all that, but when I go to pay and the tipping options are 18%, 20%, 22% it's just another thing to add to the subpar experience. TL;DR, go there for drinks. read more

Two experiences in one: food from De La Soil, and beverages from Copperworks - two separate ordering and checkout lines, so a couple can divide and conquer if it's busy (and don't be surprised if it is busy). Our first attempt turned out to be during a fund raising event for the bluegrass ensemble that appears to call this place home. We decided to return the next night, hoping it would be easier to find a table. Once we came back, both the food and drink lived up to expectations. I enjoyed a smash burger, and the fish entree made my wife very happy, and the grilled BBQ spring onions were an absolutely unique side dish. The space is vast, with a soaring arched barn-style roof, and there was a mixture of indoor and outdoor seating. Some of the indoor seating was near a stage, and we were close enough to be able to enjoy a bluegrass jam session, even though the musicians were in a circle, playing purely for themselves, and not amplified. We read an article a few months ago about this place and it was really hyped up, so we're anxious to go. Honestly, I don't know what that was all about as the food was so disappointing. The concept is cool, as they share the building with a whiskey distillery. Who went Friday night at about 6:30 and the place was starting to get busy as they were having a country band play at 7:00 p.m. We looked the menu over, ordered our food took our seats. I hate to say it but this is one of the places that has very fancy sounding and pretentious descriptions of the food, but when it comes out it's just blah. I have a lot of greens and vegetarian dishes on the menu. Halibut is the fish dish. Grilled skirt steak is the meat and so called katsu chicken. I love katsu style prepared meat so that's what I ordered. Also got the Brazilian cheese bread starters. Cheese bread came out first and it came with a large puddle of local honey with chopped chives on top. Cheese breads were perfect. Honey and chives was great with it so this gets a four-star. The next thing that hit the table was the katsu chicken. My immediate reaction was WTF! It was deep fried chicken tenders strips with a salad dumped on top. This is not at all katsu style. I asked the waiter if this was really the correct dish and he confirmed it was. I was pretty hungry so I ate it anyway, finally stopping to take a picture about halfway through. 1 star for this. As I looked around the room I realized that most people were ordering the smashburger. Now I can see why as it's probably the only decent thing on the menu. I also saw one couple who ordered the halibut and they were very tiny pieces. In spite of the cool vibe of this place, we will not be back. read more

I LOVE this place! I can't wait to come back. The restaurant is within a distillery but they are separate businesses. You go up to order alcohol and food at the counter. They have outdoor patio with lots of seating and games. Super cute! I didn't get to try many dishes because the friends I went with are little birds who don't like to eat?? Jk! But seriously, next time I will be visiting with foodie friends. The blooming onion was my choice and it did not disappoint. I still dream of it! The flavors and the textures were perfection. The cheese plate was meh! They had this backyard bbq menu. Meal of the day- you get 3 courses for $45, perfect for sharing. I would have loved to get that. But mostly, the dessert caught my eye. When you pull up in front, you may be underwhelmed. However, when you walk inside your mood and mind will shift. Clean, open space; it truly looks like a farm-to-table establishment. On this sunny, cool afternoon when my friend and I visited, the doors were open with lots of fresh air. There are two registers where you place your order; one for drinks and one for food. We ordered non-alcoholic beverages for ourselves and three menu items that were out of this world. I requested the Asparagus Cobb salad without blue cheese dressing, and instead with the dill pickle dressing, which was fabulous. There's a shared bathroom space (with doors, not stalls) which was very clean. People at the registers are very knowledgeable about the menu and the beverages. We were served promptly and you bus your own table when you leave. The parking lot and street parking was packed when we left and there was plenty more room inside for others to arrive and find a table. We will be back. read more

Mistakes happen, but how you handle them makes the difference...unfortunately this place missed the mark. First, my daughter ordered a salad and asked if they could add chicken. The gentleman behind the counter said yes, and then when he was reading back the order we again confirmed to add chicken to the salad and he said yes again. When the salad arrived without chicken, he then said that they weren't able to add things to salads and we could order a chicken and add it to the salad if we wanted to. When I asked him why he said yes when we ordered the chicken added to the salad, he said he must have misunderstood. You misunderstood twice...or you made a mistake and lied about it, and then failed to take ownership and make the situation right for the customer? Then, I took a bite of my smash burger and I literally took a bite of completely uncooked meat...like what burger meat looks like when it's raw from the store. Because they never came to check on us, after several minutes I finally brought the burger up to the kitchen and showed the chef the burger and he says yeah that's not cooked. No apology, no offer to comp the dish, just I'll make you another one. The next one came well cooked, but the experience was already ruined. The cocktails were pretty good, but unfortunately the food experience was so bad, I don't think I'll be ordering food from this place again... read more

I understand and appreciate the overall concept but the prices are outrageous for having to order at the counter and having to buss your own table. Food was excellent! We had the Copper River Steelhead with Summer corn Chana Dal, the charred corn esquites appetizer, and the fries - all were delicious and the Steelhead was perfect! Ambiance was chill outside, inside was trivia night. Service was fine but you order food at one register, drinks at the other, and bus your own table (Setting expectations). Drinks were small but mighty. I had the basic Old Fashioned and my wife the Vodka Strawberry - both were good. Dessert was the Peach Warbat which was like a peach baklava.. delicious. I love De La Soil and have been many times. I don't believe I have eaten anything less than amazing. My current favorite dish is the Asparagus Cobb Salad, it was fresh and the asparagus was plump, perfectly cooked egg. Perfection. Service is always stellar on both De La Soil and at Copperworks. I enjoy going for trivia on Thursdays but also on a Sunday afternoon to read my book. Great for groups but also solo adventures. read more

Enjoyed the special paste immensely, the standard menu halibut was pretty good too. No complaints. Okay price for the quality. Tiny little place off the main road, but once you walk inside it is clean with lots of seating. Copperworks distillery makes some good plum gin as well as regular with good house mixes. We have 3 small kids. There are very few places where we can take them and they can play outside with toys while we wait for the food. Plus the Walla Walla blooming onion is amazing. A fantastic meal. 5 star cooking, playing games in the beer garden at a dog friendly whiskey distillery with live music? Heaven. We started with the Walla Walla blooming onion. It had wonderful elote vibes as it was well coated in a crunchy corn meal and a lightly spiced aji Amarillo. We demolished it and I thought about ordering a second. Husband had the smashburger which had a nicely grilled bun for a visual surprise. He really enjoyed it and the heaping portion of well seasoned fries was fantastic. I had the halibut in Tom kha. And I will keep coming back for that dish as long as it's on the menu. Tom kha was creamy and coconut. The big cuts of cucumber and plum highlighted the fresh produce and made for pleasant bites with the creamy soup and basil leaves. The halibut was cooked perfectly. Finally we tried both deserts. Husband LOVED the peaches and cream. He loved the tart jam and we both really enjoyed the graham cracker crumb. My favorite was the watermelon granita with insanely creamy tajin ice cream. It was creamy and icy and so refreshing. It's been two days and I've thought about this desert at least ten times. The gingery pickled rind made for some unique bites. Everything was beautiful and delicious with perfect vibes from the people and the place. Cannot wait to return. read more

Finally made it out to De La Soil. Ordered: Oysters, Brussel sprouts, sardine toast, tandoori chicken. Great space inside a distillery/ brewery with plenty of space to sit. The menu honestly is so well crafted. The creativity and awareness of flavors and spices had me so excited. I feel this is where the food itself falls short. When you read a menu item that has the following elements of : brightness of dill, pickled from a fennel, briny caper, and freshness from a cucumber you'd expect a masterful creation. In reality you just taste neutrality with no one flavor shinning through. The dish that just let me down was the tandoori chicken. Protein wise they nailed it. Great piece of chicken that was cooked well. Do I wish there was more.....yes. The lack of rice in the dish or even a naan to accompany it was also a disappointment. The main issue was a dish with pumpkin curry had no curry spice whatsoever. It was bland like baby pumpkin puree. The idea of adding mint with sorrel to add some lemon and depth to the dish again shows the creativity....but literally tasted none of it. I think more spice, salt, increase the use of the tarragon plants etc is needed. The Oysters are well done and show that they know what they're capable of. Service and speed was awesome. Pricing could be justified if the flavor is there and please add a side of rice and more chicken to the dish. I will be back to support and try more items. read more

We had dinner here on 1/22 and were sadly disappointed. We ordered the Porchetta Roast family dinner - Pork jus, black truffle risotto, charred purple broccoli, bagna cauda, Parmesan Reggiano, chicory & arugula salad. Here are details: The porchetta was at least 1/3 white, chewy, unrendered fat - not edible. There was some good meat in the middle, but a good porchetta should have nicely browned, delicate fat interspersed with the meat. The charred purple broccoli was indeed charred... to the point of extreme bitterness, and all we could taste was gas grill fumes. Completely inedible. The risotto flavor was nice, however it was runny and watery. The salad was absolutely beautiful - a heaping mound of various lettuces and chicory - colorful, flavorful and a definite wow. Because this place is self-serve/counter service, there wasn't an opportunity to provide feedback to a server, hence this review. The entire dinner was $85, which is reasonable... albeit the food was not good. The cocktails were pre-batched, but tasty. The ambience is definitely not suited for fine dining. It was very cold in the building, so our food got cold immediately, and everyone was bundled up in jackets. Definitely more of a burger place vibe. Don't think we'll return. read more

I've been here 4 or 5 times now and a review is way overdue. First thing, everything I have ever had here has been amazing. Seriously, everything you eat here is like a rollercoaster for my taste buds. Tonight we had Grilled BBQ Spring Onion and the Katsu Chicken Piccata. The grilled onion was like no onion I have ever had. We thought they messed up our order for the chicken Piccata because it looked like a Caesar salad with chicken, but holy cow, it was amazing. Then we had Mango Tres Leches and Kiwi Cheesecake for desert. My wife loved the Tres Leches but the Kiwi Cheesecake was frickin magical. You have to give this place a try, you will not be disappointed. Also the drinks at Copperworks are tasty and strong as hell. read more

A nice spot off the trail. Situated in Copperworks distillery, it shares a parking lot with an adjacent brewery. Only 2 ADA spots available but street parking nearby. The food was delicious! Fresh, with some unique cross-culture fusion of flavors. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring your food to you. I ordered the halibut with fennel and plums in a light Thai sauce which was cooked to perfection albeit a smaller (4oz?) sized portion than expected for $26. Service was as expected. For drinks, you have to order from the nearby cashier at the distillery. Coordination between the two seemed a little wonky and when we asked the distillery person whether a non-alcoholic drink had caffeine in it, he answered no but seemed unsure...fast forward to me lying in bed at 3 am staring at the ceiling...lol. We've been here multiple times and every time the food is spot on. First time trying the meat and cheese plate and it's the most flavorful and unique I've had in the Seattle area. I had high hopes as Kenmore doesn't have many good dining options and I really wanted to love this place. First off, this is an order at the counter then find a seat situation. You are expected to tip like a regular restaurant but you have to bus your own table. In addition, the menu itself is quite limited with only three entree options. We ordered the smash burger. The meat was juicy but the bun was straight up burnt. I get it toasting a bun, but this was black charred burnt. We may try it again if they add more options to the menu, but overall a disappointing experience. read more

The food was good, I like the smaller portion sizes and quality. But the service was awful. The only available tables had not been bussed. There were signs that said they expect you to buss your own tables, so I got to buss my table both before we sat down and after we ate. When my dinner was ready (the fish) the waiter brought it out. I waited several minutes for them to bring my wife's meal, and she eventually told me to eat mine before it got cold. I shared it with her, and we finished my plate together, taking our time. Then I walked to the kitchen to find out what happened to her steak. The waiter said it was almost ready, and that the steak takes longer to cook. I pointed out that it might then be reasonable to start cooking the steak first, so food for the whole table is ready at the same time. He copped an attitude and said, quote, "we know what we're doing." Then my wife's steak came out of the kitchen, and I brought it to her and we shared that too. This was May 30, about 5pm. read more
