They came out as quickly as they could (most companies told me 2-3 weeks!) but they called me several times to give me updates as to whether they could try to get to me even sooner than my scheduled appointment which was only 1 day after I called! Joe and Corey were truly amazing - firstly, they were incredibly communicative about their ETA. When they arrived, they did a thorough diagnosis of the HVAC unit and even took the time to explain exactly what they were doing and why. They took care of the issue with ease and made a lot of recommendations to prevent future damage. They also offered to look at some of the other AC parts and my AC filter just to make sure I was maintaining everything properly - a service they did not need to do or take more time for. They ended up staying just chatting about best practices and were just about the friendliest repair people I have ever dealt with. I own two properties and have been through SO many bad or iffy contractors and repair people so it's such a relief to find reliable and high quality service providers. My thoughts are 1, they're waiting until 2/1/26 the year anniversary that they installed the unit and therefore I may not have a warranty or 2, they just don't have the knowledge to fix the problem. Bottom line .. stay away from Briggs Mechanical. Oh, and the owner Mike, he can talk the ears off a brass monkey with his BS.

However, as soon as you need a maintenance call you learn to why. They have a large staff and come right out when you have a problem. They can handle anything from routine work to replacing the entire boiler and have an excellent plumber on staff as well. They come by once a year for a tune up on the boiler. They monitor oil levels and auto deliver as needed. In 9 years, I have never come close to running out of oil or had to think about it. For everyone shopping solely on price, I recommend you consider how important service is, especially when you need an emergency call.

Buying a mini-split system is an incredibly difficult process. The Mass Save rebate system is very…read moredifficult to navigate. I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!
