For $14 I got the waffles that came with your choice of protein and preferred style of eggs. That's a steal nowadays! A lot of their items are also priced much better than other bakeries in the area. The woman who attended to us was lovely as well :) the jugo de maracuya en leche was divine! Reminded me a lot of the ones I had in Medellin! Definitely check this place out, I'll be back more often! I visited Aroma de Cafe Bakery Restaurant with my mom and had one of the most obnoxious experiences ever. We walked in to check out their offerings, and an older lady handed us a paper menu. After looking through the options and realizing there wasn't anything we particularly craved, we decided to leave. Not today but maybe we'll try this spot sometime else. After walking for about a minute or two, one of the ladies ran out after us (we were already halfway down the street by then). We were confused and wondered what we could have possibly done to warrant such a dramatic chase. Turns out, it was over the goddamn paper menu - the same kind that restaurants usually give out freely for customers to take. The same menu that restaurants slip into our front door, begging us to dine. This over-the-top reaction left a bad taste in my mouth. Imagine a restaurant so cheap that they refuse to let a customer take a paper menu out of their door. It speaks volumes about how they run their business. I can't get over the pettiness of that experience. Will not be stepping into this place ever again. read more

I bought food and drinks and paid for everything. The guy did not let me use the bathroom and I've been coming to this place for a long time every since 2018. I'm always here and I'm a regular customer. This is my favorite spot. The sogn out of service has been there since 2018 that I remember of. During lunch time today the guy did not let me use the bathroom after buying food and drinks. Its really crazy and I'm disappointed to be treated bad at my favorite bakery. The rest of the people always nice to me but this guy mistreated me. If i didn't buy anything i would understand but i bought things. What kind of aervice is this? Interesting little cafe in Elmhurst. One morning, I was really missing the buñuelo and some good Colombian coffee. I was lucky to get the buñuelo fresh and hot. It was really fluffy on the inside and a very good pasty to go with my coffee. I must warn that it is very, very oily for those who mind. Colombian Coffee, the hot version is much better than the iced version. It is strong but the taste is not as bold as other Colombian coffee that I had before. Overall, a nice neighborhood cafe to visit once in a while. read more

Aroma de Cafe recently opened up at the corner street, across from Duane Reade. Since I walk my dog around the block every single day, I saw them during construction, and when it was finally open, I knew I had to pop in. It's a tiny establishment and very clean. There is a glass case of baked breads, some with guava and cheese (get the one with the flaky pastry, sooo good). I always have to ask the ladies behind the counter what is in all of them because some of it is just bread, but I like the ones that are filled with stuff - I've been spoiled by Asian bakeries. They also had a variety of empanadas - chicken and potato, beef, and Hawaiian. The Hawaiian was good but lacked the filling, beef was ok and had medium filling, and the chicken and potato was filled and tasted pretty good. If they filled up the empanadas and added a bit more flavor, they'd be amazing. I also got some sort of rib and blood sausage and something else, all came with a choice of either a potato or arepa. My friend got a meat plate which was plentiful. He liked it, but I thought some of the meat was a bit dry. It came with plaintain, which was good, and salad. Since they just opened and I've only been here once, I'm betting they're still getting things worked out in terms of the menu. What they did tell us was that they are known for their soups. Every day they have a special (that day was oxtail soup), but they ran out by the time we arrived, so I'm planning to go back and try the soups and get more guava/cheese bread. The blood sausage wasn't bad either. Hopefully they'll have an English menu or sign on their door soon. I don't like not knowing my options and what they consist of. read more

This place is clean and decirated with the typucal traditional Colombian decor. That said, they are over priced and you have to wait for them to come over and wait on you. The three times I have been here, I have cone in with an open mind and desperately wanting to like since we have very few latin foid places on Broadway ( think there only 2 left). The 3 times, the employees were too busy talking to each other, attending only friends and oblivious to what was being sold! Their omelette was good, just a bit flat (vs one of those overstuffed omelettes) - however, their prices are on point, at least for breakfast. A small bar type seating as well as about 13 two seater tables (where you could push them together if you're in a party larger than 2), but by no means a large place. The Iced coffee with milk and sugar actually doesn't lack flavor like some can. Overall, a conveniently located little bakery. read more

I always used to come here for coffee and cake until I found a dead bug inside my flan. This guy(presumably the owner or the manager) comes out with a nasty attitude. He doesn't apologize and instead states"I'll give you your money back isn't that enough?". He then blames me by saying that the bug went inside the flan as I was eating it. If you come decide to come here then just know that there is a possibility of a bug inside your pastries as well as a nasty attitude if you dare to let them know. read more

The look of this place is deceiving. It appears to be only a bakery, when in fact they expertly prepare dinner dishes as well- and very affordably! My tilapia dish has moist white rice salted just right and tilapia that was lightly (nicely) seasoned and cooked just barely enough to be delicious. The salada included mango slices on super fresh greens. So to sum up the food- near perfection. Now, the drawbacks include two large doors that momentarily freeze the room(and cool the food) when opened in cold weather. Also, I am not a fan of large screen TVs in the sitting space, but this is just my preference and I obviously did not allow this to affect my score. Aroma de cafe wins five stars for surprising me with a delicious, fresh dinner that had been well presented on the plate to boot. read more
