Came by this bakery curious to try some Filipino baked goods, honestly I'm not familiar, I've only had Jollibee a couple times with the general impression that their products tend to be on the sweeter side. Would love any good suggestions! On a weekend early evening around 5pm and they seemed to have most items in stock. From other reviews seems like they're known for their ube cheese pandesal, ube cake, mango cake, pan de coco and pork asada bun. I picked up a torte Cebuana $3.25 and pan de coco $1.50. The former tasted similar to a pound cake in cupcake-like form, sprinkled on top with fine sugar. The latter was a sweet bun with shredded coconut that tasted sweetened with palm sugar. It had a lovely fragrant coconut flavor and was tasty though a tad too sweet for me. The store itself isn't big, a pretty casual set up with seating for maybe 12-15 at cafe tables. The back counter is where baked goodies are displayed, a fridge on the right contains chilled drinks and full-sized cakes which looked made to order. On the left side of the store are some Filipino grocery items on shelves. Staff was friendly and helped answer a couple questions I had about ingredients, (or asked other staff what they didn't know). If I was in the area I'd come back to try a few other items.
Went and ate here today for my bike group trying this place out for the first time. We definitely got different kinds of pastries to share together as a group and we then said it tasted really good and delicious. The service there was also very attentive, pleasant and friendly. We couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)
These Fillipino Buns were OK!! Not worth the hype!! At least they take credit cards!! Service was good! Cute little store & Ambiance was nice!! Plenty of seating as well!!
Nice little spot for fresh filipino baked goods. Came in around 1245 and unfortunately most of their I've flavored baked goods were sold out or until later in the afternoon. Plenty of seating for a little meetup and catch up. Would like to come in again and try some of their other baked goods. The torta is their version of a mamon and it is not as spongy, but definitely more dense
When you have a sweet tooth, most important part of a birthday dinner is the dessert. I was surprised with this whole Ube Cake from Kape't Torta for my birthday cake and it did not disappoint! Ube is one of my favorite flavors and unfortunately, there aren't many starts that sell whole Ube cakes in Queens, luckily, my siblings were able to find this place! It was very simple as you can just call in to place the order ahead of hand and pay when you pick it up! The writing was written neatly and the flavor was perfect! It was nicely sweet but not too sweet and you can actually taste the favor of the uber through the cake and the frosting. I will definitely be grabbing a slice here and there (they sell the cake by the space as well!) when I am around Elmhurst! Definitely a must go for Filipino dessert lovers!
The ube cheese bread was AMAZING. It was hard to get a seat at first because there was a massive party of people. But the food was absolutely worth it. Maybe Im not a fan of the cakes, but the bread was simply spot on. Would definitely go back to get more of the bread.
I happened to be near this tiny bakery, and, based on other reviews, decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a good decision! Having never had Filipino deserts, I went with a variety. I tried a slice of Ube Cake, of course. It was light and less sweet than I expected. The cake was spongy and the icing was smooth. I'd definitely have it again. I also tried two different pandesal, the cheese and the ube cheese varieties. These are basically buns with cheese in the middle and were also quite tasty! The space, while tiny, had seating for a dozen, and had a nice vibe. Service was great too. I'd definitely recommend checking Kape'r Torta out.
Have tried the Pork Asado Bun which was okay. What I like to get at Kape't Torta is the coffee and the Ube Cheese Pandesal. The soft purple bun with cheese and ube. Will get those again. Also tried the Pan de Coco, very tasty with shredded coconut went well with the coffee, but it was a tad too sweet for me. Current pricing of both the Ube Cheese Pandesal and Pan de Coco were $1.50 each. There were chairs and table you can sit and enjoy your treats. Staff was nice and friendly. Will be back to try the ube cake and other desserts.
This is a small Filipino bakery located in Elmhurst. I heard about them as I was trying to find Ube cakes. And I'm really glad I did because I loved the cake! I can definitely taste the Ube flavor and would definitely love to get it again!
I was walking back (I believe from the nearby Lahi or some other nearby place) and passed by this small little Filipino bakery. The people inside were nice and while I was interested in the ube cake, I decided to just go with two of the small buns as I was just in the mood for a little snack. I got two buns; the Ube Cheese Pandesal and the Pan De Coco which were $1.50 each. In general, both buns were both soft with a good texture. The pandesal was my preference of the two. There was a bit of floral sweetness from the ube while the cheese inside was slightly salty and the bun had a good chew overall. They contrasted well and I can see why they are popular. The coco was a tad sweet though it had a nice buttery outside. I could see it going perfectly with some coffee or tea and it was still good though and cheap as noted. Good little place. I would go back in the area and get a slice of their excellent looking ube cake.
Incredible one of the best Filipino bakeries in the city. Tried their freshly baked ube cheese bun which is one of the best pastries I have ever had. The cheese has a very sweet but pronounced taste to it. 10/10 The ube flan was not too sweet also tasted a little stale... I can imagine what a fresh would be like. 8/10 still was pretty great The ube cake was the star... fluffy and mouth watering. 11/10. Don't walk run here
Amazing family owned Filipino bakery with very affordable slices of cake and other Filipino baked goods. Came for the ube cake and it was fantastic, cold and at room temp. At room temp it was bouncy, fluffy and melt in your mouth. Cold it was a lot firmer like a more dense chiffon cake. Great ube flavor throughout and a sweet light whipped cream frosting. Absolutely coming back for the mango cake and more of that ube cake next time!
Went to pick up some sweets for afternoon snack. Got the flan ube cake and some ube cheesy bread, which I had not had before. Really like the flan ube cake, like having 2 desserts at once. The bread was interesting, not overly sweet or savory, very pretty purple.
What an AweSoMe little Filipino bakery! The Ube Cake is da BOMBA! The Mango Cake is pretty amazing also. Their cakes have a funny consistency that is unique and totally works. The 2 layer cake has a dense cake on the bottom and a light, fluffy & spongy upper layer. The light whipped cream matches each flavor and pulls it all together into a delicious dessert! You can order a full size cake or by the slice and also pick up a bunch of other tasty pastries. We ordered an ube cake for my grandniece's, niece's & sister's birthday and it was ready for pick up when we arrived except for the "Happy Birthday" which they quickly put on in icing. Location on Queens Blvd is pretty convenient with metered parking in front and free on Sundays. read more

Popped in because I had heard about this place for a while which is a modest mom and pop vibe filipino bakery. It's charming inside and quintessentially Queens - walking in, you get a sense that this was a family-started business. The pandesal was yummy, authentic, fluffy and hit the mark when I was having the craving. The worker was super nice, too and there are a few tables for you and a few friends to sit around and eat the goodies. There's a fridge full of cakes and other desserts, too. I think you could probably preorder a cake if you're an ube fan and get it for your birthday or other special event. I'm happy they're here and would love them see more things on the menu - maybe I missed it but would love to try a halo halo here. I would love to know when to get the buns the freshest as well/what their baking schedule is! read more

Warm and fresh. We waited for the fresh ube cheese pandesal to come out and they are so worth it! Creamy inside with the ube. The cheese brings in umami and depth of flavor. And it's so soft and melt in your mouth. The Spanish bread is also delicious!!! read more

First time trying this little bakery and It did not disappoint. We love their freshly brewed coffee and the sweets. Torta is delicious. Ube cake flan is not too sweet, the cake is dense and moist. Good kind! The kuya is very friendly and gracious to answer all my questions. Reasonably priced. Theres table and chairs to enjoy your desserts. Nothing fancy, just basic. read more

This Filipino bakery is a must visit if you're looking to treat yourself to some great sweets or just need a coffee break. The ube flan, ube ensayamada, and mango cake are out of this world 15/10! The pan de coco and other pan (bread) options are just as good, perfectly complimenting the coffee they offer (among other amazing drinks). Just to note, the sweets are not overwhelmingly sweet, they're just right. The place has a few seats and is small, but it's clean, inviting, and not too packed. read more

Amazing Filipino bakery!! The ube cheese pandesal is absolutely fire. Also loved the ube cake slice. Only thing I'd skip next time is the torta cebuana (it's not bad, I just prefer the other treats). My boyfriend's favorite was the yema cake. Really good prices and lots of variety! They also have lots of seating indoors. read more

What's Tagalog for "yes"? *Looks up on Google Translate* Oo. Amazing. Oo. Well, Kape't Torta is all the oos. It's eternal oos. It's a gauntlet of Infinity Oos worn by Phanos, the Filipino Thanos. If you've never been here, come here yesterday. Buy everything. Taste better gluten than any snooty French baker could ever comprehend. The regular Ube Cake is an exercise in moist, purple deliciousness. Ube itself doesn't really have a flavor--it's mainly used for its great color--but you won't notice because it's got a great, mildly sweet flavor that suits every palate. The Mango Cake, on the other hand, is a similarly made flavor bomb of tropical vitamin A that will make you realize you've never had good mango cake until now. And for something less sugary, try the pillow soft pandesal--proof that God exists and wants us to eat carbs. I'd truly come back here every day if I lived anywhere remotely nearby. Came by this small bakery after hearing about their ube desserts. We got a slice of the cake and one with flan on top. They were both delicious. Not overly sweet. The ube cake was so soft and moist. Im a little sad i didnt get a slice togo. The one with flan on top was delicious too! read more

Was surprised with this ube cake for my birthday! Extremely moist and fluffy. Enjoyed it with a homemade espresso martini. The flavor of the cake and icing are light. So if you're looking for something sweet with a strong ube flavor, this isn't for you. read more

One thing to know- every time you come here, you will see a group of older men or older ladies gossiping in Tagalog, so you know it's authentic! The breads here are the standouts! Get the ube cheese bread, the salty sweet is so addicting. Halo Halo was okay!! A little too syrup-y/ sweet for my taste. There aren't that many people working there (sometimes just one person!) but they are quick! and so kind. They take card! read more
If you choose one thing to try, it's the ube pandesal. I came to pick up an ube cake for my mom's birthday and decided to get additional pastries to try. The worker was friendly and recommended the ensaymadas in addition to the ube pandesal. The space is nice and cozy and you can eat your pastries there if you want. My favorite thing from the bakery was definitely the sweet and savory ube pandesal with the mix of ube jam and cheese. I heated them up in the microwave for 30 seconds and they were delicious. The ube cake was also pretty good and creamy but I found that the ube flavor wasn't super strong. Both pastries thankfully were not super sweet. The cheese ensaymada was okay. I think they also sell halo halo in the summer and I wouldn't mind coming back to try some. I'll definitely be back for more ube pandesal before then. read more

So in-love with their ube cake! Must if you really want to get a good ube cake! Location: It is located along Queens Boulevard. The store was typical bakery, few seatings inside. Good display of breads, cakes and items from the Philippines. Service: not much interaction cause I just bought cake and go. Food: UBE CAKE: omg it is so good! The cake itself is moist even few days after I purchase! The frosting is like cream type, its a bit a lot but it taste good because it taste ube as well. Unlike other ube cakes that the cream does not taste ube! I almost eat half of the cake because it is so good! Price rating: 7/10, $45 for a round cake. Thats the usual price now for more stores! Definitely will come back here I will try their other flavors! But get the ube cake!! read more

I been trying to find another spot that makes a good Halo Halo since bambu is closed down . This place I try their cakes and some of their other drinks, which It was delicious. My friend wanted their Halo halo drink, it wasn't that bad but it isn't the same. It doesn't have pandan jelly but instead they have red jelly, pudding, ube ice cream, corn flakes, shaved ice, beans (not sure what kind) It's best to give it a big stir before drinking it. It was ok to be honest. read more
