Delicious! The sausage frittata was yummy, my husband enjoyed his eggs Benedict. The restaurant was fancy but laid back. The servers were friendly and fun. Great place for breakfast. Next time we are in town we'll heck out dinner! Oh and warm spinach salad was to die for!!

My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience at Aroma Restaurant. We were attending a youth camp up the road, where the food did not agree with my stomach. I begged to drive down to find better food, and that's what lead us to Aroma Restaurant. Because we're very new to the area, we really didn't know what to expect. We awkwardly stood at the door for a good 3-4 minutes before someone came out to help us. There is both outdoor and indoor seating. We chose to eat outdoors. The woman who served us was very kind and hospitable. She brought out a tablecloth, cloth napkins, and water like she was preparing us for a special date. She was super nice and served us very well. In the end, we had a great experience. We would definitely come back next year while in the area for youth camp. I ordered the Sherry Ribeye Burger with Sweet Potato Fries, and he ordered the Fish & Chips. It did not disappoint! We enjoyed every bite! I do recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back.

We visited after a long day exploring Santa Cruz and were a group of 11, which we knew might be a challenge for some restaurants. Thankfully, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating--they went out of their way to create space for us outside, and the setting was beautiful. The service started off great--attentive and welcoming. We ordered shortly after being seated, and were excited for a good meal. Unfortunately, the wait for food was very long. It took about an hour and a half for everything to arrive, and my boyfriend's plate didn't come out until everyone else had already finished eating, which was disappointing. The food itself was absolutely delicious, but by the time it came, we were all extremely hungry and the enjoyment was a bit overshadowed by the wait. It also felt like we were overlooked once drinks were served, as no one checked in on us during the wait. To be fair, we understand it's not easy to serve a large party all at once, but we noticed smaller groups who arrived after us getting their meals much sooner--even though we ordered quickly. Despite the delay, we'd be open to giving this place another shot with a smaller group. The food really was great, and the staff was kind--we just hope the timing is better next time!

A great brunch on a beautiful Saturday! We got the Mexican Steak & Eggs and the Florentine Classic Benedict. Both were delicious and appropriately portioned. Appreciated the complementary fruit with them too. The owner (Mateo?) was hospitable and funny. They have a homemade hot sauce, try if you dare haha

Wow best restaurant in this area for sure! What an inviting atmosphere and friendly staff. They really go above and beyond to make you feel at home. My Dad ordered the seafood linguine and he said it was the best he's ever had! Ever Also I had the pesto chicken with GLUTEN FREE linguine. So happy they have gluten free pasta options and they are DELICIOUS sauces. Chicken was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was on point. As a starter appetizer we both had the house salad. Mine with balsamic dressing and my Dad's was with ranch. We both thoroughly enjoyed the salads and they had lots of fresh ingredients! Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Will be back!

I went here the other day for a dinner date with my partner and it was a really cute spot. I loved the deco and outdoor seating area. We were not super impressed by the charcuterie board, but then wine and main dishes were pretty good. We also ordered ceviche, which had an interesting twist, I never had ceviche with tartar sauce mixed in it, it was good, but different. I would definitely come back and try other dishes.

went to visit my friends new home and we came here for brunch on wednesday at 11am. we walked in and they just barely opened; their waitress hadn't even arrived yet. we were all excited for breakfast foods but they said they only have breakfast on the weekends. we were all bummed but that didn't stop us from ordering mimosas and bloody mary's!! menu was very limited and didn't have too many things that caught my eye. i kept it simple and ordered their sherry ribeye burger. we ordered 3 ribeye burgers, fish and chips, and a turkey bacon avocado sandwich. the person ordering the fish and chips stated it was really good. you have to request for malt vinegar if that's your jam. my burger tasted like a typical burger nothing special. a little on the bland side if i'm being honest. the friend that recommended this place said dinner is better. there would be more choices to choose from. i don't know if i'll ever find that out.

Intrigued, we decided to step inside and check it out. The building has a wonderful setup, functioning like a mini marketplace with charming little shops nestled inside. The one that immediately caught our eye, of course, was The Penny Ice Creamery. Right off the bat, I loved the aesthetic of the shop. The design is nice, simple, and wonderfully understated--nothing is over the top. It has a clean, minimalist vibe that makes you feel instantly welcome and lets the focus stay right where it belongs: on the treats. While the rest of the crew decided to sit this round out, my son and I eagerly stepped up to order. My son went with a classic scoop of Vanilla Bean. To say it was a hit would be an understatement. He kept talking about how delicious it was and just how good the flavor tasted. I decided to try the Chocolate Toffee Swirl. The chocolate base itself was rich and tasty, though I do wish it had a bit more of that crunch--it could have used a heavier hand with the toffee, as the pieces were a little sparse in my scoop. One thing worth noting is that they feature a curated, rotating selection. While everything they make is fresh, the menu is on the smaller side, so you do have to choose from what's available that day. I'd love to see them expand the menu a bit in the future because I'd definitely be curious to try more of their creations. We ordered the "kid scoops," which turned out to be good portions. Being a supportive dad, I naturally stepped in and finished the rest of his vanilla bean--and I can officially confirm his review was fairly accurate. Overall, The Penny Ice Creamery is a cool little shop with good treats. If you find yourself exploring the shops inside The Picnic Basket, it's absolutely worth a stop to cool down with a scoop. Have you been to The Penny Ice Creamery yet? What's your favorite flavor combo? Let me know in the comments below.

Your under staffing is not your customer's problem. Never experienced anything like this. They essentially turned me away after waiting in a 20 minute line. Looked at the menu, prices are absurd as well Ate here one time and the veggie Reuben sandwich was absolutely terrible and dry. Businesses have come and gone from this location consistently for years. This spot will be the same if you don't stop sucking. Update: Jessica, if anyone is speaking outside the realm of reality, it's you. I also grew up here-- and? Try looking at it from your guest's perspective and not your own. Waiting 20 minutes on a line to order a single sandwich for 1 person should not take 20-30 minutes post waiting in a 20 minute line. People value their time. You should consider valuing your customer's time instead of telling them they are lying. Pro tip, and good luck. Update #2: hey fellow yelpers: scroll thru some of the other reviews here: Jessica (the owner) has apparently been rude directly to the faces of many customers..Don't take it from me, there are several reviews before mine calling her out by name for how rude she was. Great example for her staff and really does nothing but solidify my initial review of over priced hipster food with a long line out the door to wait for mediocrity.

We ended up heading over about a half hour before they closed (I think 9pm is the closing time?) They were already cleaned up (the chairs were stacked, etc), but they insisted they were open and were totally nice about it. For the people who are complaining of the price, I respectfully disagree. This place is not your average ice cream joint. From what I understand, the ice cream is made from scratch using ingredients from local farmers. The flavors are not your basic b*tch flavors, and I can totally appreciate that. My daughter got a single scoop of Fresh Mint Chip. I had a spoonful and it truly tasted like fresh mint, not that artificially flavored green mint chip stuff. I saw the sundae special for the weekend and I just couldn't pass it up. Here's what it was: mochi cakes topped with whipped cream, Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, blood oranges, toasted almonds, and green tea (matcha) sauce. There were 2 people working there and behind the counter. No one greeted us. We looked at the menu and though we could have ordered at the counter, the staff didn't seem friendly like they wanted to be approached so we chose to order at the computerized kiosk! Other Yelpers said prices were average, but I thought the drinks were expensive! They start around $7 but that most do not include toppings, and each topping was $0.75. That adds up! (My go-to boba place in Santa Cruz has boba for $5.50, which includes 2 toppings, so....this seems like highway robbery.) Due to the high prices, out of three of us, we only ordered two drinks and only one of the drinks had an added topping. When they were done making the drinks, one drink had the plastic top sealed on and the other was placed on the counter. The staffer walked away. I was unsure if I should just take the drinks. They were clearly our drinks (I could see they were ours, plus we were the only customers), but it was odd the man put the drink there and walked away without saying anything! No communication, no eye contact. Nothing. After several minutes, he returned to complete the plastic cup cover sealing, and then he placed the cup in front of me. No "thank you", no "here you go", no "enjoy", nothing. It was odd. Other than the prices, the flavor of the boba was okay in flavor and chewiness, but the strawberry matcha drink had effects that, let's just say, caused someone hours of bathroom trips! We don't know if it was the milk or some other ingredient, but something was not right. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Soul Sweet. The store looked so cute in the photos, I think it had potential, but the freshness is important and price is an important factor.
