However, I made the long drive to the dealership because I reasonably expected the final offer to be somewhere close to the estimate I was given. After arriving, I waited for over 90 minutes, only to receive an offer that was about 35% lower than what I had been told. When I questioned the huge difference, the salesperson immediately admitted that he had mixed up my information with another customer's. There wasn't even a moment of hesitation. What bothers me most isn't that a mistake was made--everyone makes mistakes. It's that the mistake was never corrected before I made the trip. If my information had already been mixed up, why wasn't I contacted before I drove all the way to the dealership and spent over an hour and a half waiting? To make matters worse, there was no sincere apology or acknowledgment that my time had been wasted. I understand that this is a large dealership and you probably have no shortage of customers, but customers also have choices. I wasn't asking anyone to do me a favor--I came because I relied on the information your staff provided. This is not the level of professionalism, communication, or respect for a customer's time that I would expect from a Toyota dealership.
