What a disaster. Don't go here. First, I had a haircut with Aimee a couple months ago - I've never had someone so lazy, and apathetic, cut hair. She didn't really blow dry my hair fully let alone wash it correctly. The cut was mediocre, and I actually wanted to come back to give it a second shot and fix the layering. So, I spoke to Allyson and agreed to come in for a second cut and was scheduled with Aimee. Day of, they confirm my appointment- then I show up and the door is locked and I can't get in. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt it was important to share since I don't think the current rating of this salon reflects my experience. I scheduled a haircut with Aimee. The booking process was easy and smooth, which I appreciated. However, I feel the service was overpriced for the quality I received. I explained my concerns about my hair -- wanting a cleanup, some layers, and help evening out my curls and fixing the "shelf" effect (curly hair on top and straighter hair underneath). She cut my hair while it was wet, which isn't ideal for curly hair, and after the haircut, it was actually worse than when I came in. I don't think Aimee has much experience cutting curly hair, as the cut didn't seem suited to my texture. Additionally, the overall experience felt a bit careless. A dirty bowl was dropped on my head during washing, my piercing was nearly pulled out, and my hair was blown out without asking -- even though I'd mentioned I always wear my hair curly. That made it difficult to see the actual result of the cut. Overall, I was disappointed and don't feel the service matched the price or expectations. read more

This is a sweet LA find. Every once in a while I'm like this is what LA should be about. Super small Boutique, clean, sleek, clever minimalist utility, with plants as decor. 3rd generation hairdresser knows his stuff listens to your wants and delivers it. I have a scarred up, lumpy head like a miss shaped potato but I have hair. If I have a bad haircut... I just can't leave the house. But Ben has fixed it and my beard so much that now I just sit down and say "make it look better" I recommend him to everyone and get thank yous back. Again...have no idea what's going on in this city with hair salons anymore... this is the third time the salon has done the exact same thing. Allyson gave me a consultation, where she seemed to listen to my concerns and offered me a free bang trim since they were so hacked up from the last place... but she honestly left them just as choppy and cut into my length I was trying to grow out! I felt so manipulated...at least I did not pay for it but I will NOT be going back to her for a cut because my bangs look nothing like the feathery blonde haircut in the previous reviews photo. May be a case of racism or discrimination but she seemed to keep making a point of how her hair is curly and showed me reference pictures of blonde women. I'm an indigenous descendant woman with dark straight hair and I deserve feel good about my hair too. It is not just about Eurocentric beauty, already been the standard for beauty. I'm never trusting another white woman to cut my hair again to be honest. It was a really weird experience that left me feeling weird. All hair textures, types and colors are beautiful but it seems I keep getting beat over the head with eugenics. She gave me a free green tea at least that I hope wasn't spit in or laced. After not going to a salon since pre-covid, I needed to get my hair trimmed and some kind of color on it before my wedding. I went to Ben and explained what I wanted, and he executed it AMAZINGLY. He totally understood what I was going for even though I couldn't describe it very well. I ended up with a hair trim and balayage. In addition to being an amazing stylist, Ben was an awesome guy to chat with. His hair studio is nicely decorated and has a comfortable vibe to it. Ben really exceed any expectations of what my first haircut in 3.5 years (!) would be like! As soon as I stepped inside, I immediately felt at home in the cozy, well-designed space. I had the best experience with Ben at the salon. I had a horrible experience at the last salon I went to and left feeling defeated and unhappy. I explained my experience to Ben and told him what I was looking for and he gave me EXACTLY what I asked for. My hair is literally perfect and I could not be happier. I don't trust a lot of people with my hair. Every time I ask for a trim, they end up cutting off more than I would like. I sat with Ben, the lead stylist, for a consultation and told him my goal was hair growth/regeneration after years of processing/dying/heat styling. He suggested a deep conditioning (I think it was called Dallas), and a little dusting off the ends. I have NEVER felt my hair so silky soft and bouncy and healthy. It had volume and shine. Wanted to post now before I forget! We just got back from a visit to Arrow Salon and had such a great experience. My daughter is 8 and was badly in need of a trim but I've been looking for somewhere to take her, her last hair cut was by my stylist almost a year ago and I'm not even going to mention how much I paid . I'm SOOO happy we found Ben! He was so great with Ezza and the salon is super cute and you get a free beverage from Super Domestic Coffee next door. Since it was my daughter's cut I told her she could get a hot choccie and it was the fanciest one in all the land. I'm going to get my hair trimmed next. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This was very disappointing, Amy gave my son a haircut for 50$, and it took 10 minutes for her to cut his hair. He said she used zero care, and barely touched her razor. For 50$ this haircut was a huge waste of money for she did not wash his hair, fade with a razor at all, or do anything haircuts have given him in the past. The place had coffee stains splattered on the walls and hair all over the place, there was no music playing and the vibes were terrible. Do not recommend, highly disappointed. read more

I waited to make this review because sometimes there is a bit of a readjustment phase after a haircut so I don't like to rush into a bad review, but I got a haircut with Ben and I'm currently scheduling a haircut at another salon to fix it. He left an area right above my face about an inch longer than the rest of my hair which looks so out of place, and when I asked him to shorten it he wouldn't and said I can come back and get it fixed for free if I still thought it was too long, which is a kind offer, but I'm paying you to give me the cut I want and it's in inconvenient to have to come back because you won't do my request. I also requested that my back and sides be the same length and he left the back so much longer that it started to look like I had a mullet. I even brought up the fact that previous barbers usually use the electric trimmers to get the back, but he insisted on not using them. I may have been able to catch the error if he had a mirror to use to see the back of my head, which you think would be common place at a HAIR SALON, but he didn't and told me to feel it instead. In addition to all the hair issues, he had friends stopping into the salon mid appointment and he stopped to talk with them for like 5 minutes which was super unprofessional. Overall very frustrating experience because I was very clear about what I wanted at the beginning and showed pictures of MY OWN HAIR and when I voiced my concerns he didn't properly address them. read more

This is an adorable little hip salon in Culver City. Aimee is my stylist and I've been going to her for years. She always does an amazing job with my cuts and color. I do reds and she's a total expert with them - which is hard to find! The salon is in a great little walkable area in downtown Culver City and has a super cool coffeeshop next door. And INSIDER BONUS: if you tell the coffeeshop you just had your hair done at the salon - YOU GET A FREE DRINK! Like whatever you want on the menu! How awesome is that?! If you're looking for a new salon that will do your cheveux right, this is it! And I can't recommend Aimee highly enough! read more

My only wish is that we could come earlier like 8 am on a weekday would be great. After dropping my daughter at Lin Howe. And before work but no biggie. Couldn't wait to get home and write this review. I usually stop by the area for a coffee and noticed this salon in the neighborhood. I had been spending some time trying to find a salon that was around my house and that was reasonibly priced, which can be tricky. I'm so glad I found this little gem. Ben is amazing. This cozy barber shop/salon is in a great location and for me much preferred over the larger robust barbershops like Floyd's I've been to. Ben was great, gave exactly what I wanted while giving suggestions and explaining his whole process to me. The haircut was quick and one of the best I've ever received. I took my 4-year old son to get his hair cut by Benjamin last week, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Booking the appointment via text was simple and straight forward, and he was quick to respond. During the cut, Benjamin was calm and kind with my son; he was efficient and gave him an excellent cut. Beyond his expertise in cutting hair and running a business, he went above and beyond and (literally) ran several blocks to try to retrieve an item that had fallen out of my stroller (while I was juggling two toddlers on my own). I loved the haircut and blowout I got from Ben!! I got a trim and my layers touched up. I really appreciated that he didn't take too much off of the ends, and he also made sure the length was exactly where I wanted it in the front. My hair feels soft, healthy and has much more body and movement than it did before. He did a beautiful job with the styling too, soft waves with lots of volume. I don't usually like getting my hair blown out when I get it cut, but I'm so glad I did this time because I absolutely loved the end result!
