We are very happy with their service. We had an emergency situation and didn't know what to do, but they were able to schedule us in the day before the holiday. They gave us clear advice, took excellent care of our dog, and helped us until we could get an appointment with a specialist. The staff was incredibly friendly, compassionate, and caring throughout the entire experience. We've also been there for regular checkups, and they've always provided excellent care. Normally, you can always get into this clinic, so that is nice. My big problem is that vets come and go from this place, so your pet never seems to see the same person. That makes things really in-personable to me, which I don't like. However, I have never been treated badly nor has my pet, so I do recommend the place. My daughter took her cat in for an issue and Dr. Pei didn't review the chart and injected the cat with a medicine that shouldn't have been given as told by the ER vet where the cat was taken that evening which had a massive heart attack within 24 hrs of a 2 day ER stay due to the injection complications. Attempted to contact the Vet as well as the owner, no response. Sent certified mail, didn't accept. Sent registered mail to both owner and Vet at office and home. Emailed the front desk of the USPS receipt at both locations. Now pursuing litigation against the Vet and the clinic owner. I'd recommend another vet. read more

Posting for a friend. I want to start out by stating I have taken many of my wonderful dogs and cats to this clinic over the last decade. I wouldn't say every visit was exceptional but I believed myself and pets were getting good care, medically and or advice for next actions. With that said, I will never take another pet there after my most recent experience and I want to make it clear, that this decision has nothing to do with the outcome of my situation but that Lack of Human kindness and respect that all pet owners are due during a difficult situation. I dropped of 2, 7 month old litter mate kittens for routine neutering early in the morning. At 11:19 a.m. I received a text that both are doing great, awake and ready for pick up at noon. My family members Picked up the cats each in their own carriers at 11:55-12. One of My family member's took the one kitten the was meowing out to the car. The other Family member paid for the visit via credit card and took the other kitten out to the car. While loading him in the back seat, he noticed our kitten wasn't responsive at all. Like dead! Immediately went back into the office, of which announced loudly "My cat is not responsive!" All the Staff were in the office and the first response was "I heard a meow.!" And that is the WOW!.. factor. Then my family member expressed that there are 2 cats! and this one is not responsive. They rushed the cat into the back only to return shortly to notify him of the cats passing. Off note, it was obvious that our cat was dead. It was pretty clear that the staff made a huge error in not looking at both cats in their carriers to ensure alertness and normal recovery activity before handing our baby boys over to us. It was then, that the Dr. wanted to explain that she heard a heart murmur prior to the procedure and is now very concerned for the other cat. Was offering specialist names in the community and advice. All great, but NO apology or any compensation. The comments were that my family member was extremely upset. Staff seemed Dismissive, making it a "my family" problem. What happened during this 40 minute window? In all my years I have never had a poor outcome from a neutering or spaying of any of my cats or dogs. Why would staff not look to see that both cats, in their individual carriers are OK. My family and I realize that issues can happen, but I find it very hard to believe that my cat died from the time a credit care receipt was signed to getting to the door of my car right outside of the office. My hope is the the staff will take a step back and think about the human side of this situation and learn for our terrible experience. Nothing will bring back my kitten, But if the staff can adopt some situational awareness and practice with compassion and consideration during that Pet Owner's moment, put themselves in the pet owners shoes and take in the fact that after a traumatic experience, trying to provide more information, that is clearly not wanted and not going to be heard wasn't in our best interest. Had the staff come out and stated there is an issue wait here, were sorry, one boy didn't make it.. Very rare.. Something.. but instead the last comments are what do you want me to do with your cat. I hope the staff can grow in there ability to emotionally connect as well do a full check on a pet before you hand them over to the owner, not just assume! read more

DO NOT GO TO Paws and Claws. It is the worst Veterinarians office I have been to. Here are the reasons why. My dog ended up in the emergency hospital due to a large lump on this jaw. The Emergency Vet diagnosed him with an abscessed tooth. Took my dog in to this place for a follow up on his abscess and I believe the Vets name is June. Well she tells me it's a tumor and he will have to have part of his lower jaw removed and to get him to a specialist asap. I was sick for a week thinking the other Vet had misdiagnosed him. Finally got him in to a specialist and after $1,400 I find out it's an abscessed tooth, just as the competent vet had stated. The next visit I took him in for a nail trim and was quoted $20 to $25 if he needs to be held down. They charged me $35.00 and he didn't fight. Kerry the office manager will not refund me my $15.00 as she says it's the vet tech fee. Kerry is the one who overcharged me so watch out for that one. I only pay $20.00 at my new vets, Mandalay Animal Hospital. No tech fee. I highly recommend them. Kerry and June are incompetent and unethical. I wonder what else they overcharged me for. read more

This was my second visit to Paws and Claws. We had a very good vet in Lakewood ( yes, it's far from Broomfield but he was the best) Unfortunately, he has retired and we needed a new vet. First, I started to search for a vet in November when we got a puppy. Someone recommended Paws and Claws. My first visit was with my puppy in December, I saw the first red flag for this clinical this time. The breeder told me exactly what should we get from the vet. At the time we had an appointment the clinic wanted to give me so many extras that I was not expecting . Only when I called the breeder and asked the doctor to talk to the breeder they agreed my puppy doesn't need any extra shots . Today,April 3rd I brought 2 cats for the annual exams and shots. I called in advance and checked the prices. I spoke to Judy, the owner, of the clinic and she confirmed 2 indoor cats will cost me $119 and $115 as the second cat has $5 discount. At the time of the appointment the doctor checked the heart rate, weight, and the teeth. She checked each cat less than 5 minutes. Then she did the shots for both cats. I double checked with the nurse what kind of shots they will get. Im really conservative about the shots as my cats are indoor pets and I don't need any extra shots. I went to the reception to make a payment. Karen (the receptionist) told me my total is $249. I asked her why is the price different from my quote when I scheduled the appointment. They told me my cats received extra shots. I didn't understand how they could get extra shots if the nurse didn't tell me about it. I disagreed to pay this amount as I wasn't informed about any extras . She went to the doctor to check what kind of shots she gave to my cats. While Karen was checking with the doctor, Judy was walking around and yelling to give me 10% discount. Then, Karen came back and said that I was right and my cats didn't get any extra shots. She told me my total is $239. I asked her again that it's different total from what I was given at the time of my phone call to schedule an appointment. Judy (the owner) started to yell:"Give her this price"!!!!! I turned to her and asked why she is yelling at me if she gave me this price when I talked to her on the phone. She walked away from me without saying anything to me and keep yelling something. I was shocked not because it's a difference on the price, but shocked how dishonest these people are. It's $15 difference not a big deal for one client but imagine if they're doing this to every client. I was standing there and looking at them asking how they're making this business being dishonest with the client. They started yelling at me and told not come back to their clinic anymore Be careful and check on the price and procedure at the time you schedule an appointment and at the time of the appointment. read more

The worst experience i have ever had! The owner answers the phone and gave me poor information about price for my dogs medication. I find out i can get her meds for 3 dollars while there are chaging my 50 plus every 2 weeks they gave me the impression i had to pay a vet visit once a month for her shot for allergies when really i only needed to pay tor the annual. The owner was litterally yelling at me in the lobby because of the poor communication on her end! Just wow, dont go to these scam artists! Completely unprofessional and frankly unknowable considering it took my dog losing a bunch of fur and 6 vet visits to find out she had allergies- 0 out of 10 go to any other vet!!!!! read more

We went there for many many years while Dr. Gillette was there. It was quite apparent that Dr. Gillette had a serious substance-abuse problem and he he did some crazy stuff but not as bad as what I experienced last time I was there. They took my dog back into the torture room and would not let me go there. The reason I call it the torture room is because my dog was screaming uncontrollably and she just does not do that. She wanted out of that place faster than ever. I just cannot subject her to that ever again. read more

We have come here for 10 years. We were always pleased, however our last 2 visits are changing our opinion. Both times we waited 1 1/2 hours to be seen. And then, we were put in an examination room and waited even longer. Nothing was said upon arrival about emergencies causing the delays. Only after asking, were we told that. How hard is it to call and let your clients know they are running behind, especially when we all have our 4 legged friends in tow. We should have known we were in for a long wait, when we saw a full waiting room of people and pets. Unfortunately the front desk does not think it's that big of a deal. Initially moving to Colorado we needed a new vet, and we first went to another clinic and were extremely disappointed. We wish we would have found Paws & Claws sooner. I've been bringing my stray-turned-housecat to Gillett Veterinary Clinic since March of 2017. In March '17 and in March '18 at her yearly checkups I brought up my cat's terrible breath and told the vet that I was concerned about her breath being so bad and that there must be something wrong. I suggested maybe she had gum disease and said I was willing to pay to get her teeth cleaned. He (the vet) said that cats' breath is naturally not pleasant and that her teeth were beautiful. Just today I took her back in because he breath is still terrible and I KNOW there's something wrong. I saw a different vet who actually checked my cat's front teeth as well as her back teeth and she discovered that my cat has bacterial gum disease that is rotting her mouth and that she's already lost numerous teeth and is halfway to losing her canines. WTF? How did this guy, who's been in practice decades, not realize this? Her back teeth are perfectly healthy due to the dental treats I give her, but they don't clean her front teeth, which I didn't know. I've never studied veterinary medicine and had no idea what to look for, so I had no clue that her front teeth were rotting, and it has gone on for 20 months without treatment due to this guy being lazy and not doing a thorough enough check. The lady vet I saw today said that this has been going on longer than I've had her (I took her in in March '17), and it wasn't anything I did. I'm very displeased with the quality of service my cat has received up until today (a big thank you to the female vet I saw today). My cat would still have her teeth if I had seen today's vet the first two times and not the older guy. read more

Will never take my animals here again. I've been grieving for almost a year and it still upsets me, and had to see if others had similar issues and I wasn't the only one. This Past summer I knew my cat was as in a life threatening situation so l went to the vet immediately and opened the door and told them I need help, something is very wrong with my cat, she couldn't stand on her own and was falling over, I was so scared. I know they could hear the terror in my voice. The lady told me to not come in and wait outside, it was over 100 with the sun on us, so hot. I'm in tears waiting and a few minutes go by so I opened the door again and said I need help, the lady then asked for my phone number and said she will call, I said again my cat is really bad please help, the lady was annoyed at me and said she will come out. She comes out and starts asking so many questions, at one point I stopped her and said take my cat and see what's wrong, she looks like she's dying. They took her and called me back and said her blood tests don't look good if I want to do an X-ray and they can determine what it is. After the X-ray they said I need to check her into another hospital for 24hr care. The new hospital said she's in bad shape and the other vet should have told me when they had the blood results. They said there was no reason to keep holding my cat to do X-rays because the blood work had all the answers. X-rays they said would change anything. The 2nd vet thinks they just wanted to charge me more money. It was to late for the 2nd vet to administer and life changing things because she was deficient with so many thing thing by waiting around at the 1st vet. That night I had to put my cat to sleep. My cat was in good health and could have been fixed by the right doctors. I had another bad experience a year before this with my dog and thought maybe it was an honest mistake, but now I know they are not experienced in many categories. My dog we thought maybe hurt her leg but X-rays showed nothing wrong, and she wasn't in pain after that but they still have antes to give her pain meds, they gave her wrong medicine that put my dog in the hospital, my dog was also sent to a 24hr care and needed her stomach pumped. They didn't think she was going to make it, it was so bad. She wouldn't eat, drink, just had to lay in a cage for days. Please do your research for your animals and don't let this happen to you. read more

They suggest but do not make you feel like a crappy owner because you can't afford extra services right now. They tell you when they run specials on services like teeth cleaning. They understand that life is not always easy and that your animals still deserve great care. Their staff cares, and want to help. I have had a really rough experience with a prior vet. It was so traumatic for myself and my family that taking my dog to any vet causes me to panic. I don't feel so afraid anymore. Not here. That, to me, is priceless. For an exam and vaccinations, the cost is not prohibitive. I'm really happy here. They have seen my cat, too, who was matted and had to be shaved. I look forward to getting her hair cut to look like a dinosaur this summer. I won't go anywhere else now. I know they will do everything they can to help, and I know they care about my family, they know that our pets ARE family. Everyone is super nice. My dog has a crush on the vet tech from today. I'm very pleased with this vet, and I truly recommend them to anyone. The manager is also so awesome, so caring and so compassionate. The vets are wonderful. Absolutely terrible experience, do NOT go here. The vet is SO RUDE! We had to come here last minute to get shots for our dog before he started training school. Yes, our dog was hyper but it didn't help that all the techs were surrounding him when he was already overwhelmed. We get into the room (where he was sitting and being calm) and the vet proceeds to say "this is unacceptable!" And starts yelling at my brother to calm down our dog (when he was just sitting there). We then try to explain that we are here for shots because we are trying to get him into training school and we apologize for his behavior. She then continues to talk shit about our dog. They keep one of the employees' pet dog on a bed behind the counter within view of the door, which immediately starts barking at your cat when you walk in the door. I know vets can't control people's dogs in the waiting room, but this was something else. It also started barking at my cat when I came to check out. I said "that's not cool" and the office manager started shouting at me, saying I was "rude" the receptionist when I walked in. What did I do? I reacted to the dog barking by saying "hey!" and walked over to a bench. The receptionist asked for the "patient name?" and I said "just a minute" because my cat had thrown up and I needed to replace the padding in her carrier. That's right, I was "rude" because I did not immediately respond. Even if a customer is wrong, this was way out of line. You ask the customer what they think the problem is, validate their feelings, and then explain why they're wrong if necessary. Totally unprofessional. read more

Dr. Gillett takes care of my two dogs, my mothers dog and my nieces 3 mongrels. I have a difficult time getting along with most vets because few seem to understand these bundles of kinky hair are my children. I have zero tolerance for unkempt waiting rooms, non-attentive receptionist, or vets that do not listen to my concerns. Gillett is really a pet person at heart. Has a sincere and talented staff. My dogs do not wet themselves when they walk in the door. They must sense it's a safe place. After one experience with Alameda east, I know what they are about. Separating me from my wallet. Any fool can see they didn't build that opulent property because they are judicious with procedures. I have to drive 15 miles to get to Gillett vet clinic and it's worth it. read more

I just moved here from Missouri a couple months ago and the time has come for our little beagle to have her annual check up! I haven't been this impressed with a small animal vet in a very long time. They made sure Penny was comfortable with them before handling her. Dr. Osborne was our vet that offered so much advice to help us. Their vet tech was gentle with Penny and wanted to make sure all of our questions were answered. This vet clinic really cares for their patients as if they were humans walking in their doors. The front desk help was very welcoming and personable. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and how the office doesn't push medicine. I want to express how upsetting it is to have a bad experience here. I have three dogs that currently go here and everything went alright. I understand that due to COVID, curbside services is only available. I took my cat to get checked out here and arrived 15 minutes early for a 10 AM appointment. After waiting for 15 minutes, I had to call in to state that it's hot outside since we have to wait in the car. I felt like if I had not called back to state that it was hot outside, I would have waited longer. The response I got was they were busy with other pets. Why do I schedule an appointment to get a response like that? I'm usually really patient but there is lack of good customer service here. All I needed was a "we will be with you". I would say COVID could be a contributor to lack of people skills, but this is how life will be from now on. Very disappointed. Now I understand why the rating here isn't at all high. Appreciate the kindness of Dr. Osborne and her staff. In my eyes, they treated my pets like family. I believe it was the happiest vet visit they ever had. I changed vets as I thought my previous vet was overcharging and overtreating. For example required expensive yearly heartworm tests to continue heartworm medication, even though chance of positivity were infinitesimal and this is a blood test and when they took my dog back I heard lots of screaming that made me sad for her (previous vet). Also at the previous vet no matter what I brought my pet in for they did (and charged for) an exam. This office appears to be pet-centered not money centered and I was very pleased. He treats my dogs as if they were his own and provides them with the best care. I have visited other vet's in the area and, by far, Dr. Gillett is my choice by a looooooong shot. Saying his services are pricey is rather immature. Dentists are pricey...physicians are pricey...gas is even pricey. To single his practice out, accusing Dr. Gillett's practice of being pricey, seems...uncalled for. His prices are inline with other vet I've been too. We adopted a dog a few months back, and we paid for pet insurance. Upon noticing one day that blood was coming out my dogs mouth, we booked an appointment with the closest Vet... Gillett. The visit was fine, but when it came time to pay, we were confused over the insurance piece as this was new to us... and for those of you who know, its not comparable to a humans insurance!! LOL. They weren't super helpful to clear up our confusion, but the visit didn't cost us too much so it was ok. Then we were getting ready to kennel our dog for a night and needed a shot that was expired, we called them, confirmed the price and did a walk in. It was pretty busy, but they still got us in an out in about 30 minutes. Sure better than going to the ER for us, huh? LOL. They were pretty pleasant outside the minor billing issue. We'll probably stick to them while we are in the neighborhood. read more

I love this clinic! Dr Gillett is an amazing and compassionate person. Not stuck up and rude like alot of vets that I have met. I first went to his clinic with my foster dog when she was having health problems. They let me bring in the foster for an exam and medication for her couch and billed the rescue so that they could pay it later. Second time I went to the clinic, I took my friend there because her puppy came down with parvo. Dr. Gillett did an amazing job and the vet techs were super nice and knowledgable. They saved my friend's dogs life!! And they worked with them on paying for the treatment because parvo can be really expensive to treat. read more

I have to agree with the other reviewer. I live right around here so it is very convenient. BUT...unfortunately every single time I go here there is at least a wait of 30 minutes. While the staff seems friendly, they are understaffed and can't handle the load. I just went in the other day and had to wait in the exam room for nearly 50 minutes before I finally stepped out and asked how much longer will it be? Meanwhile, the doc forgot to prescribe allergy meds and I had been there for so long that my brain was fried. Like I said, this is not an isolated event, every time I visit, it's a long wait, seems disorganized and just not worth it to me that they're so close to my home. Also -my exam cost $40 plus whatever meds, so I guess that's not too bad but when a customer has to wait for an hour, they really should give a discount. read more

Having three dogs, we have frequented this vet several times just because of its proximity to our house and nearly every time leave there very unsatisfied. First off, the ladies working the front desk are unpleasant to say the least. I requested a refill for my dogs prescription and was told she was overdue for vaccines, schedule an appointment for her only to find out that her vaccines were good for two more years. Concerns I bring up to the vet are most never addressed (incontince in and older dog, allergies in another) We did have to put one dog down there and the vet and vet techs were all more than compassionate and caring--which is the only reason I gave two stars instead of one read more
