UCI Housing - Mesa Court

WOOHOO...another first review…read more In my opinion, I thought this housing was perfect. Our building was in the middle of everything, close to the community center, mailing center, and the Mesa Commons. The Viento building was created as a Unit 1 Hall. This means that it was one of the first building to be created. Another reason why this place was perfect was that it was only 2 stories. Yes, it may seem fun to have more floors and more people, but since we only had two floors, all students who lived in the dorm knew each other very well, and some GOT real close as well. In other words, the number of students living there was perfect, not too many, not too little. And from my previous knowledge, Viento was known as a party dorm. Here is a small description of the housing: Mass Media and Communication Hall Viento Students are provided opportunities to explore forms of broadcast media, such as radio and television, forms of print media, and the fields of video and film production through hall programming events, faculty interaction and community dialogues about its usage and influence in society. In addition, students will be encouraged to explore leadership and career opportunities in the world of broadcasting and communication. Living in this community will introduce residents to such campus-wide leadership/broadcasting opportunities, as the KUCI-FM campus radio station, the New University student newspaper, 24-Hour Mad Film Dash, and other UCI programs. UNTIL THEN!! ^-^

I absolutely loved my first year living in Cielo. Rooms were fairly spacious in comparison to my…read morefriend's dorm rooms on other college campuses and I was easily able to become close with my hallmates. A con would be the fact that there's only 2 washer and dryers for the 54 of us that lived in the hall, although that may be different depending on which sized hall you wind up in (Cielo was one of the 10 first halls to be built and are the smallest). Being in one of the smallest halls allowed everyone to become more close and comfortable with one another. I lived in a Mass Media themed hall which is a great hall since many different majors lived there, allowing every type of personality to live there and there was a friend for everyone :) the most memorable year of my life and I was very sad to move out. Would recommend! Edit: Another con would definitely be the tiny showers we have to use; very hard to shave in if you're a girl as it's just a tiny cube of space. I was able to get used to it, but am happy to be having a full bath and shower in my apartment next year :) Another Pro: Mesa Court in general is very pleasant, lots of green everywhere and they keep it looking nice and clean. Raccoons come and tear up trashcans at night but maintenance always clean it up. I'd often just sit and relax on the balcony facing the back of the building as the view was nice and calming. A good way to relieve some stress if needed

To the Irvine Company Leadership Team:…read more I am writing because exceptional employees deserve exceptional recognition, and Tabitha is one of those rare individuals who should be celebrated. In today's world, it is easy to remember poor customer service, but it is unforgettable when you encounter someone who consistently exceeds every expectation. That is exactly who Tabitha is. She is, without question, one of the most remarkable customer service professionals I have ever had the privilege of interacting with. Every conversation with her leaves me feeling heard, respected, valued, and genuinely cared for. She approaches every interaction with warmth, empathy, patience, professionalism, and an authenticity that simply cannot be taught. What makes Tabitha extraordinary is that she combines an incredibly compassionate heart with exceptional competence. She is knowledgeable, resourceful, organized, responsive, and consistently follows through. She anticipates needs, communicates clearly, solves problems efficiently, and never makes anyone feel like they are a burden. Instead, she makes residents feel like they matter. The difference she makes extends far beyond answering questions or resolving concerns. She creates trust. She restores confidence. She represents the very best of what customer service should be. In every interaction I have had, Tabitha has demonstrated the qualities of a true leader. Her professionalism, emotional intelligence, and commitment to excellence surpass many people I have encountered in management positions throughout my life. She leads through character, integrity, and genuine care for others. Most importantly, Tabitha has something that cannot be taught in any training program--a truly beautiful soul. She is kind, compassionate, loving, patient, and generous with her time. She treats every resident with dignity and respect, and that human connection leaves a lasting impact. Employees like Tabitha are extraordinarily rare. She doesn't simply represent the Irvine Company--she elevates it. She is the kind of employee who inspires confidence in your organization and reminds residents why outstanding people make all the difference. If there is an employee recognition program, service award, promotion opportunity, or leadership pathway within the Irvine Company, I sincerely hope Tabitha is considered. She has earned it many times over. Please know that her work does not go unnoticed. She has made a meaningful difference in my experience as a resident, and I have no doubt she has done the same for countless others. She deserves to know that her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering dedication are appreciated more than words can express. Thank you for employing someone who exemplifies excellence in every sense of the word. With heartfelt gratitude, A very grateful resident

Maintenance is terrible. I had a toilet clog and they said it was my fault because I "used toilet paper." And then told us to never use toilet paper again, even though the website says clearly the toilets, like almost all toilets, can flush toilet paper. The service man gaslit me and lied to management to cover up his own mistake. It was extremely uncomfortable having someone in my home like that. Not to mention the fact that there are no public bathroom facilities in Verano, so when the toilet remained broken for almost a week (due to the service man's incompetence) I had to go use bathrooms at coffee shops/grocery stores. And when I asked for the name of the maintenance person, after 6 emails, they refused to even give me his name. Never live here, unless you want your life to be ruined by incompetent and mean people, mostly robin Michaels. Just pay for off campus housing, it is worth it for your peace of mind. The Irvine company is a great landlord and has much better facilities.

I stayed on invitational housing by the chancellor Howard Gilman to study engineering & business…read morewith the university. Walls are incredibly thin as with most of the housing in the area so we always heard neighbors & such. Laundry was not in-hosue so it was a nuissance. Gym amenities was tiny area with the essentials & pool/hot tub was often also used with other parties. I did not care much about the theater room personally but it did become useful for organized gatherings with friends. Printers & wi-fi sometimes had issues but at least never lasted long. Privacy & safety was not always the best either - we saw thin walls, too much random excuses to enter our place, and parking lot was always patrolled and full of other people's parking violation ticketing, and students protesting it as illogicial. However, for my entire place to only cost about $5500/mo. for 4 bedrooms & 2 bathroom & amenities & new/clean/maintained area, it is a great deal. And as someone who was always out of the apartment many days for work & flights as a student/professional & rarely in need of other things beside a nightplace & showers, it was a comfortable pick anyways. Customer service, at least for me, was really nice. The gentlemen & ladies at the desk were always friendly with me, some even learned to recognize & wave to me off-hours.

Been living here for 2 years now and I cannot wait to move out…read more For student housing, it's all right. I like that it has a private bedroom & bathroom and in-unit laundry, but that's about it. There's a nice pool and outdoor grill area, but it's often dirty and not maintained well -- there are ducks that live in the pool. Cute, if it was a pond & not a swimming pool. The staff is patronizing and unhelpful most times. If you are trying to renew your lease, you'll be threatened with homelessness until the very last minute & they won't provide any information about when/if you'll be permitted to stay. Not to mention, the rent is over $1,300 and increasing each year. My air conditioning has broken 2 summers in a row, and they are slow to repair it without offering any relief from the sweltering heat in the meantime. They provided a small portable A/C that barely cools down the first floor, let alone the second and third floors (where the bedrooms are). The beds are insanely loud & squeaky, and the walls and floors are so thin that you can hear your roommates drop a pin upstairs/next door. The appliances are outdated and need repairs fairly often. The WiFi is intermittent and fails to work just about every night. I've been so threatened by my roommates at times that I've had to call the police, and Camino staff didn't do much to help. Save yourself the trauma and move off campus if you can afford it.

Not to mention someone in the apartment complex has a dog that barks at all hours of the day. I had a question to ask so I called the office on 8/30/25 around 4'o clock, then this female staff answers my call, keeping me on a brief hold. 5 minutes after she comes back, then I explained my situation briefly and asked further question(asking if a certain information about our residence could be disclosed to us) Then she literally says "What are you talking about??", repetitively telling me that they are not in charge of the electricity but Edison is. Who in the world answers a question in such a rude way like this? It sounded like she was annoyed to answer the phone for the entire time. If this is what I should expect when calling a company representative, the company has an extremely low standard of hiring a person handling the service, which also leaves the quality of their overall service in doubt. She could've just said something like "sorry, I didn't understand your situation, could you repeat that", but it just felt like I was talking to a little child instead of a proper adult staff. The office should review the staff training process or hire a better person. Very disappointed.
