Been living here for 2 years now and I cannot wait to move out. For student housing, it's all right. I like that it has a private bedroom & bathroom and in-unit laundry, but that's about it. There's a nice pool and outdoor grill area, but it's often dirty and not maintained well -- there are ducks that live in the pool. Cute, if it was a pond & not a swimming pool. The staff is patronizing and unhelpful most times. If you are trying to renew your lease, you'll be threatened with homelessness until the very last minute & they won't provide any information about when/if you'll be permitted to stay. Not to mention, the rent is over $1,300 and increasing each year. My air conditioning has broken 2 summers in a row, and they are slow to repair it without offering any relief from the sweltering heat in the meantime. They provided a small portable A/C that barely cools down the first floor, let alone the second and third floors (where the bedrooms are). The beds are insanely loud & squeaky, and the walls and floors are so thin that you can hear your roommates drop a pin upstairs/next door. The appliances are outdated and need repairs fairly often. The WiFi is intermittent and fails to work just about every night. I've been so threatened by my roommates at times that I've had to call the police, and Camino staff didn't do much to help. One of the worst Apartment complexes I've been to. The outside might look nice. But soon as you enter one of the units everything is falling apart. Showers/Toilets constantly getting clogged. Wifi that doesn't work. No cell service. Oh! The parking situation is the icing on the cake. You can only park in the parking garage and be ready for the 15 minute walk and $1000/year cost. Good things about this place are that their maintenance is fast and the front desk people are easy to talk to. But the internet is garbage and the people running and managing the place don't have their act together when it comes to rules. So here's the deal - you might get stuck living with a roommate's pet if they have ESA permit, and the office won't give you any heads up beforehand, at least in my case. Even if you're freaked out by animals, they won't do anything to help you out. If you run into any problems, don't count on the office or the manager doing anything to fix it. Even if your roommate breaks the rules, like bringing in people to live with them forever, you're on your own to sort it out. read more

Camino del Sol Amongst the ACC apartment, you're probably gonna be considered boujee if you live at this one. There are many different things that I liked about living there and there are many different things that I didn't like. ---Let's start with the negatives so I can end on a better note.--- The negatives of this place is that the walls are thin as many have mentioned. That's the worst thing about living here... How many times did I lose sleep because I can here conversation from my housemate or people being rowdy late at night. ESPECIALLY THE HEDGE TRIMMING AND THE LEAVES BLOWING. So if you're looking to have some fun time at night with your mate, know that you will be heard. Even at inside conversation level, I can hear my housemate. Despite claiming to be smoke free, many people still smoke around the apartment anyways. The internet is okay but dookie at times. Every single day the internet will go down and you would have to reset it from your computer for it to turn back on. A minor inconvenience to my daily life over something stupid, I don't like that. Parking is expensive. They know we are college students so what's up with the savage parking pass? Camino del Sol in general is expensive. Which is why you'd probably be considered boujee living there. The smoke alarm sucked. How many times had the smoke alarm gone off when there wasn't even any smoke?!? But the thing is, the thin wall, parking, and dookie internet are probably common things that all ACC apartment will share. Except Puerta del Sol... I hear them Puerta bastards get free parking. Which is messed up! *red face angry emoji* The reason why I didn't stay is the price at Camino was already savage but they raised the rent this year and that's a little too savage. I'm a broke college student, I can't ball out on them thin walls like that. The furniture sucks as well. My housemate and I never used the couch in the living room at all. The tables were actually decent though. The beds are trash. Move and they will squeak/ Sp if you're considering having fun time with your mate, know that your housemate will be able to here you. Camino's office used to be 24/7 but now it closes at like 2am? There was one night when I thought my key didn't work at like 3am and I had no idea how to get in. I was about to call my housemate if all things failed but eventually the key worked. Which reminds me that the electric key isn't too good sometimes. +++Now onto the positive thing about living at Camino.+++ The convenience that follows living at an ACC apartment could be the thing that makes you want to live there.. You live close to the campus and close to essentially anything you can need. The bus is a great perk. Although it can become a clown bus when they trynna pack the whole student body into one bus, it does take you to campus, UTC, and the other bootleg UTC, where Albertson is. The apartment has AC which sounds like a norm, but many places off campus don't have AC. Unlimited water and you technically don't pay for wifi. Although the price you pay seems like you pay for the wifi. You got washer and dryer. I think all unit comes with them. The staffs from all of my encounter throughout the year, are very friendly. I like knowing that my packages are sent to them and they can sign for it and hold it for me when I'm not home. They're pretty accommodating and will help you, so you should ask them if you need something. I didn't have any creature that got inside the apartment besides spiders less than 10 times in my time living there. Off campus, you can expect to be battling giant, steroid taking, gym going roaches. Camino is also probably the safest one. In contrast VDC is probably where all of the action is happening. As I constantly get messages of burglaries at VDC bombing my phone. Camino is also pretty close to the ARC and the parking lot. The facility at Camino is pretty good from my experience. The gym is decent, and closer than the ARC, often less pack then the ARC as well. There are study rooms which smells nice. The printer is good. They should put a stapler in the computer room so I don't have to go to the front desk every time and ask to borrow the stapler. So that's my experience of Camino. Should you live here depends on what you're looking for. If money is not a problem and you want to live close to campus, this is the place, for sure. If you're trynna save money, this is not the place, for sure. You'll have lots of perks living here but there are lots of different disadvantages to living here as well. Camino del Sol, the most "luxurious", the fancy $1000 a month apartment, where you have your own room. Where you have double story apartments. Where you can enjoy freedom in the apartment, and the best place to live with randoms :P But remember It's an ACC Community. And it houses UCI students. I came here a couple times and the first time was the better time for me. The living room is legit a living room, and their kitchen is next to it. And they have 2 bedrooms in there as well. What? It actually reminds you of an apartment YESSS. There were tons of room for a Christmas tree, presents, decorations. Like omg that's so cool though. Like legit! I loved it and I felt that it was awesome living here. They also have laundry machines inside FOR YOUR APARTMENT to use. Le sigh. I was like for VDC, you have to walk all the way down, go to the room, see if they're free or clean, and then walk back up :( I dun like it but I felt it was awesome. Plus second year me during Christmas? I remember those times. It was fun. I was also studying for finals though hahaha. Second time coming here though wasn't as fun. It was sticky floors. They have a bathroom on the first floor but the floor in there is sticky as well ._. which I guess means please, carpet? :D They also have 2 apartments in the second floor as well so that you get in your own room. YOu have some parking spots here but I believe most of the parking is in ECPS, which is again a 7-10 minute walk from CDS. You also get the C line- Purple Line that takes you to school. But you also are across the street from the N Line- Orange Line that takes you to school quicker :P Remember year long lease and you have to deal with admin! :P I'm pretty sure they have bug issues because PDS, VDC, VDCN have to deal with it....... :-/ read more

I haven't seen an apartment that have such poor Internet. Outage happened around five or six times without notice during the whole quarter. It even happened in final week. The staff members pushed the responsibility to a Internet company called COX. However, COX is doing bad on addressing Internet issues. They spent three weekdays during the final week to fix the outage. If you have a concern about the Internet, please prepare ethernet cable by yourself. read more

I would have given it four stars because the place is so new and the townhomes are extremely nice. Leather couches, marble countertops, full-sized beds (I don't think I'll be used to sleeping in twin-sized beds at home anymore), nice furniture. Beds that no one else has slept/been naughty in yet!!! Hah. What's even better is that you have a washer and dryer in your own place (although it gets pretty noisy especially when your room is on the second floor). I currently live in a 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath so I have my own bathroom and there is a guest bathroom on the first floor! It's awesome. No one ever uses it; my roommates and I use it to store our laundry detergent. The location of my townhome is also very conveniently close to the ARC. The pool is nice and pretty, there are LOTS of BBQ grills around, the game room is very nice, there is lots of study rooms/space to go around. The reasons why I'd give it three stars: - freakin' expensive as HECK. Currently I pay $893 per MONTH (I have the Sept/June lease). The Sept/Sept leases are cheaper but still not all that cheap. - plus you can't buy a UCI parking permit when you have a CDS parking permit. That means you have to take the shuttle, which sometimes is a big pain in the butt. - especially because on Fridays, the CDS shuttle stops running at around noontime. So you have to squish with AV, VDCN, and VDC people in the same shuttles. As if the new shuttles aren't small enough. - for some reason, I can't connect to the CDS wireless when I'm in the study rooms - the parking structure is close to my building, but still a distance away, so it gets somewhat annoying to walk back and forth. - the gym is small and I think the ventilation could definitely be improved I just think that while CDS is really nice because you get a building all to yourself and you have all this new furniture and nice amenities, the price is just not worth it, especially for a college student. I just use my room to shower, study, and sleep, and I can do that in a decent room in some off-campus place for MUCH less $$$. Because really, how often are you going to use those BBQ grills or lounge by the pool when you're rushing through a quarter system? Especially with the fee increases, I am definitely NOT renewing my lease for next year. read more

Camino del Sol is a rather nice place to live in compared to the other American Campus Community Housing provided here at UCI. It's the newest addition to ACC, and the rent here is also the most expensive. To begin, the esthetics of the community itself is phenomenal. It's comparative to a resort, and it's astonishingly gorgeous. The amenities such as the resource room, pool, social room, game room, etc, are easily accessible for 24 hours. The CAs do an excellent job with helping out resident needs as well. As far as the housing goes, I am in a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom unit. I am very pleased with what I came into, and I'm glad that it comes furnished. Televisions are not provided though, of course, for the living area. The AC works well, the kitchens are nice, it comes equipped with a personal washer/dryer that all of the housemates share. I find it convenient that we have a laundry unit in our townhouse. Bathrooms are nice, and so are the rooms. The negative aspects to living here is the expensive rent (really can't be helped), the thin walls, and the ants. OMG. The ants! We seriously need pet Anteaters in these units. They come like crazy during the warmer seasons. Also student parking is like a 5 minute walk away to the ARC (if you're really against walking to your car, then you're going to hate it here). Overall, the positive aspects of Camino definitely outweighs the bad in my opinion, and I'd recommend other students to live here as well if it's financially possible of course. read more

Rent here only if..............you are promising to live here for one year and you can afford the monthly balance. If you don't meet these requirements please don't live here. I found out I couldn't live here anymore, and went on a stress-fest trying to find someone to take my lease. It's very hard finding someone to take over a $842 monthly payment in between quarters. It's also kind of claustrophobic to know you're bound to this apartment for an entire year! I'd like to know that I could terminate my lease in case of things like, I don't like my roommates, I don't like the apartment, etc. Apart from all that it's a pretty beautiful apartment. However I can't understand why it's so expensive. The lighting in my room was dim and that seems to be the case for many reviewers. Fridge is super small. The entire dining and living room is tiny, nice looking, but tiny. Internet isn't amazing. Tiny little window, depending on the room you get. Super thin walls, reviewers ARE NOT lying. I mean everything was pretty mediocre makes you question why the price is so high. I believe the only reason the price is so high is for the appearance. You are paying for the appearance of the apartment, so if you're fine with that, go ahead. Nice gym (that hardly anyone goes to), pool, jacuzzi, game room. It's all nice but there's hardly anyone making use of the amenities. Shuttles are awesome though. There is no cell phone reception here (verizon) and the wifi is absolutely terrible, connection drops like every 5 minutes therefore I can't even use Wifi calling on my phone and the office REFUSES to fix the Wifi network. 2. Parking is ridiculously expensive ($300 a quarter) and the lot is about 5 to 10 minute walk from the apartments. 3. The front desk has given me opened mail (a check) that was directly addressed to me; and I was told "don't make a big deal about it bro", and just a month ago they lost my car registration that was supposed to come in. 4. I have lived at Camino del sol for 2 years now, and I can assure you that ACC leasing staff has no respect to their residents and as long as they are getting the rent from you they couldn't care less to try and accommodate any resident inquiries even if they were serious inquires that should be taken into consideration. My 2018-2019 lease ended on September 7th, 2019. Earlier this year I have received an email with an application to renew my lease for the up coming Year and before I signed the lease agreement I talked to the leasing office to see if it was possible for me to stay in my unit to avoid the hassle of moving out specially since the new unit will be given to me 14 days after my old agreement ends. Their response was totally negative with zero effort to try and understanding what I was saying so I gave up on trying with them and I accepted the struggle of moving out during the week of finals. In addition to this, I have contacted the ACC leasing office more than 3 times via email and almost 6 times via phone call to request my bedroom to be the first from the top unit level as I had multiple incident of people trying to brake into my unit through my window room while I was inside my unit at ACC housing. These incidents effected my school grades and my daily routines because I couldn't sleep at night and kept worrying, for that reason this inquiry was very important and serious for me to be met. However, 2 days ago (7/9/2019) I received my unit and room assignment. MY UNIT WAS A WALL TO WALL FROM MY OLD UNIT AND MY BEDROOM ASSIGNMENT WAS # 1 WHICH IS THE FIRST ONE FROM THE LOWEST LEVEL!!!!!!!! Knowing someone who lives here, I'll try to give an outsider's perspective of Camino del Sol. I'll do a pros and cons list. Pros (+) -Washer and dryer in the apartment. Hell yeah. -Air Conditioning -Your own room! -Shuttle system is frequent and free -Within 5 minute walk to the ARC -The appearance is empirically very nice. Cons (-) -Parking sucks. If you live near the ARC, it's a short walk to your place. If you live farther, like 75% of the people, expect at least a 5 minute walk. Huge inconvenience. Also very pricey $$$ -Questionable build quality. The carpet is paper-thin. Anytime anyone walks anyone, rest assured, you will hear it. Kitchen layout makes little sense. Like, there are no full sized drawers for your silverware. Weird. -Random things like crappy lights, nonsensical arrangements, furniture is mediocre at best. -Rent is more expensive than most, and you're stuck in your contract. If the cons outweigh the cons for you personally...Like the AC, washer/dryer, ARC access... If that's gonna overshadow the cons? Yeah, great place to live. Up to you! read more

Wifi connection drops, they try and scam you out of every little cent you have by worthless fees, the air conditioning breaks down a lot, the lighting is terrible, the area is unsafe and is always getting robbed, the printers NEVER work, the walls are thin, the furniture is cheap, and they play favorites with who they house and where. My friend was removed from her housing because one of the residents wanted her friend to be moved in, even though they say its against the rules and they can't do that. They also moved in one of their employees during finals week and she left trash everywhere, blasted music until 2 am, complained loudly on the phone to her friend about us asking her to remember its finals week and let us sleep, and had loud sex with her boyfriend. We complained about her 5 times to Camino and they did absolutely nothing, not even an apology. I'd rather live in my car like most of the other students, or in Aldrich Park in a tent. If you're going to live on campus at UCI, DO NOT LIVE HERE PROS The Lodge- Has very nice amenities including a beautiful pool, huge jacuzzi, grill, several flatscreen HD TV's, game room, study rooms, and printing room. Access to the lodge is usually 24 hours, not including the pool, bbq, and jacuzzi. This center aesthetically compared to VDC's or VDCN's lodges is like Beyonce compared to Rosie O'Donnell. The Lodge is the main tool used by Camino del Sol's staff to swindle money away from students and their parents. Do not let the beauty and elegance of the lodge seduce you into signing that bear trap of a 12 month lease. Utilities and Simplicity- The price covers all major utilities necessary for a college student including electricity, AC/Heating, waste, and cable (internet and basic television). It is nice to have utilities consolidated with your rent. Also unlike renting an apartment or house with friends, you don't have to worry about their portion of the rent. Just pay your rent equal to that of a small fortune and be stress free. However, Camino del Sol will nickel and dime you any opportunity they get. I have received several charges less than a dollar, the catch- you can only pay with a money order or check. Even if it is a 45 cent bill. Appliances and Furniture-The apartments include a decent washer and dryer, microwave, dishwasher, and come fully furnished. They include a fake leather couch and chair, which is more uncomfortable than a Dodger fan at a Giants game. Also every room comes with an extra long full bed, study desk, night stand, dresser, and a chair (the chair is designed to basically bend and break).The study chair rocks back when you lean back for some idiotic reason, which if you're anything similar in build of an average american teenager is going to bend the chair. They will charge you for bending the chair and usually don't replace it unless the new occupant reports it. The couch is just more uncomfortable than wearing no underwear on a hot summer day. Toilets- The only thing I haven't had a problem with. Excellent flushing power. CONS Parking- Price is not included in the rent and was an additional $265 a quarter. Also, you have to park in the arc parking structure, which feels like its so far of a walk that you should be given a trophy when you reach your car. Never mind the grueling triathlon of trying to get your groceries to your apartment. Price- It is the most unnecessarily expensive apartment you will ever come across. It's like paying $4 for a bottle of water, necessary at times, but morally wrong. Paper thin walls- I can hear my neighbors conversation both below me and to my sides. Last week the neighbor to my right decided to try a new sexual position, judging from their whispers it didn't go to well, " it feels awkward, let me get on top." I'm not joking you hear everything throughout the whole household. Lack of privacy- Apparently the staff needs to come in about once a week to make sure your sprinklers work. So they'll let themselves in anytime between the hours 9am-5pm for up to 4 days, until they give you a notice. Also the staff does a nice little half knock before barging into your room. I had a friend whos room's breaker needed to be checked. The maintenance worker just opened HER locked door without knocking. What if she had been changing? Fire alarms- Mandatory evacuation is required for these random fire drills. The sound emitted by the drill in itself is a violation of human rights in my opinion. The screech will pierce your ear repeatedly like a knife in the hands of a serial murderer. Bathrooms- My drains clog up every other week, both shower and sink. Really cheap material gets moldy quicker than Usain Bolt in a race. Lighting- If the bulb isn't out, it's dimmer than a strip club vip room. Deception- Camino Del Sol has been sending me emails for the last two years I have lived here, every month, stating that I am late on my payments. Camino tries to steal 50 dollars from me every month, the only problem- I pay everything on time. Expect Camino to try and screw you consistently. My roommate was told he owed Camino 1200 dollars, after some numbers crunching Camino "realized" that THEY owed him money. Oh and they increase rent every year, why? I have no idea. Lodge Printer- Good luck trying to catch the printer when it is working. There is a higher likelihood of you beating Kobe in a three point shootout. Roommate assignment- No guarantee of getting who you want to live with. Also, it almost seems as if they look at the roommate compatibility surveys and try to pair the most incompatible people. Once you have a roommate your stuck with them no matter how hostile things are. Also,Camino will remove you from your apartment without regard, even despite you renewing your lease. read more

Now that I've experienced living at other places, I'll put in my 2 cents about Camino del Sol. Too lazy to write reviews for the other properties, so I'll write for my favorite one. If I had to rank all the ACC Properties I've lived at, it would be Camino. This place is literally a blessing after having been through Puerta and VDC and it's as good as it gets. I'm moving to another school and I really cannot find another place as nice as Camino del Sol, and UCI students should be grateful this place exists! While it is the most expensive place to live on campus around $1000/month, it's definitely worth it. Otherwise, the VDC 2B/2B is also a great alternative as well! If I could turn back time, I'd live here during my freshman year since it's significantly cheaper than dorming. Pros: Very safe community as it is UCI Student Housing ONLY, unlike UTC apartments. I've been a resident and a subleaser here during my 3rd and 4th years here at UCI. During my 4th year, I was fortunate enough to live with a CA, which meant the entire house was properly maintained, clean, and fully functional. I enjoyed my stay here since I had my own room and was able to do laundry in my own unit at $920/month. Management is very helpful and work orders get done significantly faster here at Camino than at VDC. Never had a problem with them, but Puerta's management needs work. Cons: If you don't live on the top floor, you can literally hear everything that goes on up above from your housemates stomping footsteps to conversations and even certain things you really don't want to hear. Used to live on the top floor, I really wonder how my housemate dealt with me hopping out of bed every morning and walking around, geez. The main gripe I have about this place is: Your room isn't soundproof and you can literally hear whatever business goes on in the rooms around you... especially the bed creaking and slamming against the wall :) ... Overall, it's a solid place to live. If I could re-do my entire UCI experience again, I'd live at Camino for all 4 years with friends. read more

I've lived here since September 2013 and I just believe that I should give some heads up to people that are considering Camino Del Sol for future housing. First and foremost, it costs a total of $1060 TO PARK HERE FOR THE YEAR in a parking structure that is a potential 10 minute walk away. Utilities are "included", but units frequently go over the electricity cap that they set, resulting in an additional charge. Don't forget your keys because you'll get charged with a $25 lockout fee. I am a third year mechanical engineering student so I study a lot, however I do like to have a little fun now and then. Not crazy out of control fun in any way, but friends and music on the weekends. If you do happen to get a noise complaint, which will happen, BE PREPARED TO WRITE A THREE PAGE APOLOGY LETTER to the staff of Camino, stating that you are sorry and shouldn't have been disrespectful to your surroundings. I acknowledge that living so close to campus is expensive and convenient, but at what particular price are you willing to pay for that? $889/month rent + $264/quarter for parking? *The printers are ALWAYS BROKEN. *The internet wi-fi service in the lodge and study rooms is atrocious. *Units DO NOT come with routers for wireless internet, you must purchase your own. *There is zero cell phone service in the homes. Most times you have to walk outside to talk on the phone. *Make sure your friends and family visiting know that the parking lot out front is strictly enforced by on-campus parking authority and they issue a $68 parking ticket for exceeding the 20 minute parking spaces. There is no street parking available to anyone. Visiting friends and family must pay $14/day to park at Camino. read more

You pay way too much. Parking will cost you over $1000 for the year, and you can only park in a lot about a quarter mile away. $200 if you lose your key, $25 if you lock yourself out. The furniture is uncomfortable and of the lowest quality. (Back rest of my chair broke right off, couch cushions don't fit in the couch, mattress is terrible). There are loud and annoying fraternity/sorority people drunkenly screaming weekly as well as kids driving through blasting some kind of hip music thinking that they are so cool. The staff is not helpful at all. I've have many problems here that were only made worse due to the lack of care from the staff. Multiple times I would have packages that were not delivered to me. One time one of my packages were even check out by one of the staff members causing all of the other staff to claim I had already picked up my package. The staff are disrespectful and not willing to listen if it means they have to do something about it. Maintenance staff are incompetent. I've put in multiple(3) work orders to get a ceiling fan fixed and it still is not fixed to this day. They will accuse you of breaking furniture and try to charge you for the faulty installations that cause wear and tear. Like I said, they are unwilling to even listen. The manager in charge of these things will ignore you when you try to reach out to them. I've lived at 4 different apts in the last 4 years and camino is the worst I've ever experienced. Looks beautiful from the outside, worthless on the inside Camino Del Sol was by far the worst value I got during my undergraduate. I'll agree that it's a nice place( Jacuzzi, looks nice, close to many UCI shuttle, close to ARC and albertsons, nice amenities overall), but the apartments are built to very low standards. - The walls are so thin, that if my room mates opened their door, I can easily hear it and tell who it is. If you are a light sleeper this will be a huge problem. - Ants are just an unbelievable problem. I used so many ant poisions and yet, I could never get rid of them. The problem is that this is a complex wide problem. If you kill one colony of ants, another one will take over. I would always see a few ants walking on my bed before I go to sleep. They refuse to solve this problem. -Non user friendly setup. Let's say you go over your allotted electricity limit but 25 cents, you can't pay that 25 cents by cash. You have to pay by check. Yes, you read that correctly. You will wind up writing a check for 25 cents. Make sure you have a checkbook in case you go over your electricity limit by a few cents/ dollars if you decide against my advice to not live here. -Outdated computer room. The computer room is nice(it has a couple of macs and many windows machines). But the main problem is that nobody takes the time to keep them updated. When I first started using it, the computers were still using Firefox 3 ( released in 2008). The apartment was built well after that so it kind of shows that the management staff doesn't take the time to update these computer(hence, they might be unsafe). I had to beg them to update the internet browsers. But I would not recommend using the computer to log into anything online since they don't keep anything updated. -Internet is atrocious. If you plan on watching Netflix, amazon prime, or anything else, do not live here. The internet goes out for several minutes at a time. My friends stopped studying at my place because the internet made them so frustrated. -Blinds are useless. The blinds are so thin that they will let almost all the sunlight in and are completely useless for privacy purposes. Anyone can see your silhouette at night if you have your lights on. I installed black out blinds just so I can wake up around 7-8 since the sunlight entering would wake me up early in the morning. Again, if you are a light sleeper, don't live here. Actually don't live here even if you are not a light sleeper. The main reason I lived here is that I didn't have a car. If you do have a car, there is very little reason for you live here. In fact, even if you don't have a car, you shouldn't live here. Orange county has some nice commuter options(which I didn't know about until I graduated). For example, if you can find a way to take a train to the Tustin Metrolink Station, you can catch bus 473 which will take you all the way to UTC. Bus 473 also takes you back to the Tustin Metrolink Station. Other bus options to look into are bus 59 and 79. If you can find apartments near the route for these buses, your good to go. I'm sure there are other bus options. I would seriously recommend you not live are if you a parent reading this, don't let your kids live here. read more

Just subletting here for the summer. The place was built very hastily, and it shows in the quality. The walls are thin, the rooms are dark, and what's absolutely the worst is the ant infestation in the place. I woke up one morning to a river ants traveling out of the walls and into my kitchen. There are cracks everywhere near the walls and the countertops and the baseboards, and I have seen ants in the kitchen, the bathroom, and even on my own room, crawling on my desk. I've even seen ants on my bed. Sometimes when I'm sitting down at my desk for a long time, I notice there's an ant crawling up my arm. All they do to control the ants is use spray. They don't use traps to kill off the colony, they just try to block all the entrances with chemicals, and then when they wear off you have to submit another maintenance request after the ants find a new crack to crawl back inside. I guess you can't really get complain because everything else is faux-nice the way that all The Irvine Company construction projects are, but watch out for the shoddy and quick construction. This place isn't quite worth the money you have to pay. It might have been nice when it was new, but having to deal constantly with ants crawling all over me, I'm glad that I'm just subletting this place and moving away in a couple of weeks. read more

Don't live here! Seriously, a box would be the same quality, but cheaper. The only thing camino is is aesthetics. They make everything look nice, but the quality of apartments is horrible! The layouts suck too. Who seriously puts a fire alarm right next to the stove. I bet the architect who designed this place didn't even go to college. The counters look like they are fancy granite, but no, its just wood with some laminate on top. The walls are super thin. ANTS everywhere! Also, since everything is about looks, they do landscaping everyday at 8am or before. Even during finals week its still super loud outside because they are trimming the bushes for the 3rd time that week. They also raise the rent for new people every year by around $20 or more, but they don't change anything. They used to have really good CA programs that were the best out of all the communities, but now they are the worst. ACC is definitely not an ethical company. All they care about is money and how to get it from college students. They know college students are new to apartment searching and know how to get them only on looks and charge them way over priced for trash that they really are. There has been so many bad reviews of this place for a reason! There are so many better places out there! Even campus village is better! read more

Hate it...hate it...hate it!!!!! I was able to live through the overpriced rent, the crappy building materials, the claustrophobic environment, the crappy internet services (which sometimes doesn't allow you to get on UCI websites, especially webreg...oh nooo), and don't forget the 1 mile walk to your parking. But after 1 year now, I seriously hate it!!! Thank you CA's for being intellectually incapable in answering my question, which now screwed me over in parking. It's like Camino and Parking Services joined forces to screw residents over. They want to give you parking tickets. Oh yes, they sure want to steal every penny you have. You pay $250 for parking your car in a parking structure which is a mile away from your apartment. What also pushes my buttons is the fact that you PAY TO ONLY PARK at that structure. It doesn't cover any other UCI parking structures. read more

Two stars because it's new. 1 star if you get the sloppy seconds next year. The actually housing and rooms are nice, but your $893 dollar is going to what? That room? Printer in the lounge started out first without paper then it didn't work and hasn't work since the beginning. Staff seems to be hired out of a frat party. Mail room is late on organizing and forgets to write or place a package slip almost all the time. Noise enforcement is non-existent after midnight at the poolside. Phone reception seems to be worst at CDS than the rest of the other housing. It's been years since VDC(N) has been around and no smart person has seem to that the initiative to set up a cellphone tower next to UCI. No evidence yet but it seems like our electricity is being combined with other non-personal electricity calculation. $120 energy cap seems to be not enough with regular living. (Might be due to CDS trying to get more revenue or cut loses due to the low occupancy) The way the building was built requires you to open all the windows and door along with having the stove vent turned on when you cook or the smoke alarm would go off. If the cooking doesn't hit the alarm, the constant annoying fire alarm test that Camino initiates will. Also your hallway will smell like what you cooked for at least a day prior. Walls are thinner than they actually look. You'll definitely hear your housemate up stairs lightly walking and your roommate next to you. If it is quiet enough, you can hear your neighbors. Even with the terminex rat trap boxes around CDS, you can still see rats running across the walkway to AC systems occasionally. Also don't walk on the bike path at night barefooted. You'll either step on puke or broken beer bottles. PS. someone should throw away that guy's hockey gear next to his doorstep... and don't forget to release early... rooms will be gone next year! Now I don't actually live here so this review is from an outsider's point of view. From the outside in, this place is aesthetically beautiful. Modern architecture, great amenities (pool, gym, bbq grills, patio seating), close proximity to UCI and probably a bunch of other things are all benefits for living at Camino. From what I've experienced just being here a lot just about tips the balance for me to not want to live here. Let's get started. Camino is about $825/month for rent. This is about $300 more than UTC apartments or anywhere else for that matter. Not only that, but you are locked into your lease for a minimum of at least 9-12 months. Do the math.. $300 x 9 or 12 months? A lot of $$$. Paper thin walls. Literally. They might as well should have adopted the style of Japan where they have rice paper walls because they are about equivalent but at a fraction of the price. Noise leaks through like mad and there is no way to avoid it. If you tend to have guests over, don't be surprised if your roommate gets pissed at you for constantly making noise or coincidentally eavesdrops on you and can hear every single word you are saying. Absurd parking. You HAVE to park all the way at the ARC which adds a minimum 10minute commute to walk if you want to drive about somewhere which is a major inconvenience if you ever have to transport something from your car to your apartment. Major suckiness. Not only that, guest parking is virtually nonexistent with only 20minute parking on the side that is always full and prone to ticketing. Shuttles are the alternative I guess... but who likes waiting? Or what if you need to go somewhere OFF campus? These 3 major inconveniences are enough to offset my decision to even want to live here. NO WAY I will pay thaaaat much to face these problems. If I'm paying that much to live somewhere, I better get catering everywhere I go and have a maid. Who cares if it's Irvine, this place is an open drain waiting to suck your money up. read more

This would be a relatively nice community for college students if it wasn't for the parking. No matter where you live in the community you have to park in the ARC parking structure, which is about a 5 minute walk if you live in the closest buildings to about a 10-15 minute walk if you live in the furthest buildings (towards VDC Norte). Parking is $264 a quarter which, in my opinion, is even ridiculous if I had a garage attached to my apartment. On top of the fact that you have to walk about 10 minutes to your car in a always crowded parking structure, there is absolutely ZERO guest parking. If you have guests over, they either have to pay $2/hour or risk getting a $70 ticket in one of the very few 20 minute parking spots. Starting 2014 if you're there for more than 30 minutes you WILL get at ticket. Also, it's basically impossible to have more than 1 or 2 people over. I had a couple friends over on a WEEKEND during WINTER BREAK and I had a community assistant come and tell us we needed to quiet down or they would call the police. It was literally 5 girls listening to music and making cupcakes. On top of all this the rent is completely outrageous, the amenities and the apartments themselves are pretty nice I will give them that, but $1057 for the pain that you have to deal with is not worth it whatsoever. Yeah its expensive but worth it if you get the 4.5 bathroom and 4 bedroom option with private bath bed. I can tell you its nice to have some privacy for studying and lounging and you can bring the girlfriend over and she can freshen up after spending the night. Walls are a bit thin but you can hear people in your own unit not the other units unless they are playing audio on a system with a sub woofer. I have lived in Camino Del Sol for Two Years and it's been two of the best years of my life. I used to live in some dumpy apartments next to Orange Coast College before I transferred out to UC Irvine. Camino Del Sol is super nice compared to costa mesa. For one thing I never have had to worry about my room mates stealing things or being paranoid about my bicycle getting stolen or car broken into. My favorite thing about the community is how safe it is, and you can BBQ outside when the weather is nice in the apartment areas. Its a nice environment compared to communities I have lived in the past. You can bet that your car is safe here, albeit parking is in a structure with a 5 minute walk. So if you buy groceries park in the 20 minute zone and bring it in quick and you have to repark in the structure or you get a $65 dollar ticket which is lame. You get used to parking in the 20 minute zone and reparking after a while. Its hard for people to visit because they have to pay for parking at a kiosk but its $14 for overnight if you gotta have the friends come over and crash in the common area. Fire alarms are sensitive to turn on the kitchen vent fan when cooking or the fire alarm goes off. The computer lab is awesome so if you don't have a computer they have macs PCS a fax machine and fully functional meeting rooms with projectors for presentations for group projects. The amenities are dope as heck, jacuzzi spa, pool, pool tables, air hockey, study rooms, study lounge, meeting rooms, and white board walls in the study rooms for writing equations on the wall. Pretty neat. Their are ants in the common area if you don't sweep but raid kills em quick and taking out the trash every four days helps. read more

Ants, so many ants. Every time I feel a small twinge on my skin I think it's an ant and unfortunately, most of the time it is. I'm sleeping on the couch until pest control people come but honestly at 1k+ a month you should definitely live somewhere else. Not at all worth the price. read more

I lived in Camino for two years, and thinking back now ... I honestly don't know why I decided to stay that extra year. Perhaps it's because of the fact that my roommates and I had already lived there for one year ... perhaps because of convenience, perhaps because of the luxury of having our own rooms ... but whatever the reason, I really regret staying that extra year. If only VDC offered third and fourth years the advantage of living there instead. I moved into Camino the first year it opened. Everything was brand new so it was really awesome and great, especially knowing that nobody had peed in the toilets before, nobody had slept on the mattress before ... nobody had laid on top of the really uncomfortable couch before. After a few months of living there, the glamour of CDS faded and my roommates and I along with a whole bunch of other people realized just why Camino Del Sol sucked so much. The material used to build the building is incredibly cheap and not at all durable. At least the material in VDC was sturdy and lasting. After only living there for a few months, we realized that the walls were crumbly and small flecks would come out. And not only that, but the walls were INCREDIBLY thin. While studying, I could hear the person living next door to me's drone of the television. I could even hear his awful humming at random times during the day. I would have to pound the walls to get him to shut up. And I could hear the neighbor's really amateur guitar playing from their living room in my second floor room. I could hear my roommate talking on the phone even when she was murmuring. What kind of plaster do they use for the walls?! We found out after there was a leak in the plumbing that summer and they punched holes in the wall to connect the pipes. Really bad and cheap plaster. The wood in the bathroom - it's fake. My roommates lifted up the rug and there were these ugly welts on the floor and the "wood" split to reveal what was under it. The wood was actually just a covering to make it look like wood. They use so much money trying to beautify Camino when they should have placed money into what was necessary! Why the heck are we paying $842 for a single room and a shared bathroom (when the rent was $810 the first year and is getting higher year by year)? I also don't understand why we only get two chairs at the kitchen table when there are four rooms at Camino ... we ended up using the table as a chair. Because Camino is a part of the ACC community - they have really unfair rules that they have to follow. You can't get somebody to claim a package for you even when you give them permission. You can't back out of your lease at all unless you graduate or no longer attend UCI. The parking sucks - you have to walk to the structure (ten minutes away). The couch in the living room is not comfortable at all, the lights take forever to light up. The pool isn't even a pool that you can swim in because of the odd shape! If there's other people lounging in the pool, forget about swimming laps. It's just there for decoration. For the first year the wireless in Camino did not work at all. Everything in Camino is just really cheap when you examine it closely. The stove is really light and really cheap after my roommate and I moved it to clean beneath it. And beware of the ten minute parking outside of Camino. UCI parking likes to spring upon the college students randomly and issue tickets when they can. The only good things about Camino are the gym, the free paper and printing services they offer, the laundry machine and the programs (although the programs are seriously lacking compared to the ones offered in VDC but that's not Camino's fault). Seriously, if you can live somewhere else .... DO consider it before you resort to living here. read more

Like everyone, Camino del Sol is a pretty expensive place to rent, given that its new and around the $800's. I have a private room and share a bathroom, and its $788. The furnishings are nice and modern, very ikea like. The kitchen depends on the floor plan, i know that for the people who live in their own rooms, but share a bathroom, have the bigger kitchens, as opposed to the other living arrangements. The lighting is poor. I wish it could be brighter, it would be nice since my eyes are already adjusting to at home lights and dorm lights, and I really feel that the lights are a beige-whiteish glow. The internet can sometimes have a mind of its own. Recently, it's been okay, although there have been some random drops. The walls are somewhat thin, since my roommate couldn't hear me arguing on the phone, or having my movies pretty loud, but I could hear her music on the other side, so I'm not really sure what the deal is... but the only great thing about this place is that they have their own washer and dryer, so it does save a lot, considering its like $1 something to wash. The amenities are alright. The gym is a hit and miss. Sometimes it's busy, and sometimes its a ghost town. The game rooms and the computer room is where you can find life inside the building. The shuttler service is a gift from the gods. I can't imagine what it would be like to walk to school everyday. It's like the building behind pslh that everyone hates. read more

I have never had to give a Yelp review on a place because I have never been so unsatisfied with somewhere, until now. Let me start with this piece of advice, do not live here. If you are considering ACC housing, ie Camino, VDC, VDCN, consider VDCN grad. You do not have to be a grad student to live there and you get guest parking which is basically right outside your house. My advice would be to find your friends and live off campus in a house, less expensive and less rules. Let me start my review on Camino. Firstly, Camino del Sol is the most expensive housing out of all the ACC housing communites. Yes, you get your own room and potentially can pay to have your own bathroom but it costs a lot. Bringing a car? Forget about it, you will be paying $300 a quarter to park in a garage that is a 10 minute walk away. Bringing groceries or anything else is a HUGE hassle. Yes, there is technically "guest" parking but it is only for 20 minutes and it is very limited, especially on the weekends. Even think about parking there for more than 20 minutes and UCI police will write you a nice $52 ticket and don't even think about parking in the staff parking spots(which there are more of than guest) and they'll write you up for $68! The build quality of these "cookie-cutter" homes is horrendous. If anyone in a one apartment radius gets out of bed you can hear them due to the thin carpets and paper walls. You may think "it's not that bad" but wait till you live there for a year, which you will because you're bounded to a year long contract. I will admit that it is nice having a washer/dryer unit in each house, even if it does sound like the apocalypse is happening every time. If you like grilling, get ready to go for a hike because even though there are very nice Viking grills outside of each house they RARELY work and you'll have to hunt one down within the entire community that works. I have put work orders in for them multiple times and they have yet to be fixed. What else? The list is never ending. Never any hot water in the kitchen sink or bathroom sinks, which is extremely frustrating, but I guess that's what you get when water is "included." The staff. Most of them have no idea about anything going on. If you have a question and go to the main lobby to ask all they will do is hand you the generic business card that has the ACC main line email, no name attached to it. So you email them and expect a quick response right? WRONG. They will take days to respond to you if they even respond in the first place. The fact that the main lobby has printers that you can use and a monthly 150 page limit is a very nice idea, IF THEY EVERY HAD THE PRINTERS WORKING. I swear every time I have to print something out, the printers are never working and then they have you send it to whoever is working at the front desk so they can print it for you. 1. That is a huge hassle & 2. There are some things that I don't want being in someone elses email. If you are thinking of living here make sure you live with people you know because living with randoms is terrible. If you are over 21 and DO decide to live with randoms, MAKE SURE TO REQUEST HOUSEMATES THAT ARE OVER 21, otherwise they will cite you for having alcohol in the fridge even if you're the only one drinking it because your housemates are underage. Usually you have your group of friends set and if you decide to throw even the smallest party, one of them will call you in for a noise complaint. If you happen to get chill housemates don't worry, one of the other houses around you will call you in for a noise complaint even if it is only 9 pm on a Friday. You'll get one warning and then the next time the police will show up at your doorstep and you'll be cited. Have this happen enough times and they'll even threaten you to have a meeting with the dean of students. The few pros of living at camino are that there are a lot of anteater express buses on Arroyo Drive to shuttle you, but then again the apartments around UTC and campus also have buses that shuttle you. If you happen to be on campus past 11 pm studying, I hope you brought some nice walking shoes because it is a good 30 minute walk once the buses stop running. Much easier to live in UTC. The community "aesthetically" looks nice, but what is the point if it sucks to live in? The hot tub is the nicest out of all the communities but you get access to all the club houses no matter which development you choose to live in . I hope this review has been substantial enough for you not to live in Camino del Sol, and if it hasn't and you decide to live here next year, I'm sure I'll be seeing a review like this from you on here in about a year. read more
