The student workers here are completely unhelpful. Below is the email I sent in April: "On Thursday, April 25th, my friend had an emergency in Building 285 and needed to be taken to the ER immediately. In her phone call to me, she asked me to take her to the ER and she informed me that she was in so much pain she couldn't open the front door to her apartment. I went to the VDCN housing office, told the person at the front desk that it was an emergency and my friend needed to be taken to the ER, and asked them if they could open the door to the apartment because she was home alone and could not open it herself. This was around 10:15am that morning. Whoever was the CA at the front desk and the manager on duty that day grossly mishandled the situation. They asked her for her name and address over the phone, and she could barely answer because she was in so much pain. Then they attempted to charge my friend $25 to unlock the door by treating it as a lockout. Due to this, my friend had to crawl on her hands and knees to unlock the door for me to get in so she did not have to pay $25. This increased her symptoms, and caused her to start dry-heaving and vomiting when I finally got into the apartment. I understand that there are policies and procedures in place for a reason, and that anyone cannot just access the inside of someone else's apartment. However, this caused a significant delay in getting my friend the treatment she needed. I want to know why the front desk people or CA's are not being properly trained to handle emergency situations such as these, as this cannot have been the first instance of such a situation. I want to know what I was supposed to have done if my friend was completely unable to open the door at all. I would have expressed this all in person when it was happening, however my main priority was getting her to the ER. I want to be put in contact with a manager about this situation." Completely different from what is presented on ACC's website. The online page presented the apartments in impeccable conditions with beautiful furniture and nice ammenities. I got entirely the opposite. I would give this half a star if I could. The good: 1. Distance from campus 2. Shuttle service (when it's not packed) 3. Study rooms (when they are available) 4. Free printing 5. Nice gardens outside. 6. Usually quite, as most of UCI. The Bad: 1. The apartment had trash in the floor when I moved in. I can immediately tell no one bothers to check this before leasing 2. Disgusting microwave. Again, it is immediately clear no one bothered to make this presentable even on move-in day 3. Trash, including chewed bubble gum, in the washing machines. I had to wash a washing machine, seriosuly ACC? 4. Extremely old and dirty carpet full of stains. No wonder there's no tours. 5. Like the carpet, the floor was full of stains and seemed like it was from an old abandoned hospital. Not wood style floor either. 6. Peeling walls. 7. Stinking sinks, all my visits complained of sewage odor. 8. Non working dishwasher. At least I never used it. 9. Dirty furniture. The couches even had blotches of white paint in them. My family though ACC brought them from the trash containers nearby 10. 12 month leasing, even if you don't go to class on summer 11. Expensive deposit. I did not get a penny back even though the apartment was in horrible condition already. According to ACC, the apartment was in like-new condition when moved in. Tip: Take pictures when you move in! Fight for your money! 12. Expensive rent for the type of apartment. I was paying $1100 per month for living in a pigsty. I was not expecting a five-star hotel but I have seen nicer apartments in Pripyat. 13. I was charged $100 for lost keys. That was my fault, but seriously? 100 USD? ACC told me the keys are custom made in Platinum finish 14. Most staff are nice, but some employees make you feel like you are asking them for gold 15. Internet connection is unreliable at times 16. Events are a joke. I went to a "healthy-food" event five minutes after it started and staff had already ran out of fruits and vegetables. It was probably a couple of carrots and broccoli 17. Finding study rooms is usually challenging, specially on midterms and finals 18. Early shuttles are usually packed. Sometimes you have to wait for two before you get in. I could just walk by then. 19. Bathroom was full of hairs, dirt and even mud? I hope it was mud. I had to use like three gallons of clorox to clean it before I could take a shower. 20. Window blinds in my room and living room were broken And the list goes on and on... If you have a car, just rent outside campus unless you get something not owned by ACC or at least VDC Norte. ACC knows students will always move in so it does not bother to keep them maintained or to remodel them. If you have no choice, please take pictures of anything you find wrong with the unit so you get your deposit back. I don't know about other ACC units but mine was the Graduate section. read more

First off; if you are with ATT, you will get a crappy reception here at the best or NO RECEPTION at all. Don't move there if you love talking on your cellphone or change your carrier. Verizon was much better. There used to be a free wireless internet which was OK in temrs of speed, but then they disconnected it in August 2010 and it is only available in club houses now. They send so many notices at the door for different reasons and sometimes they just show up at the door without any notice and tell you that they had sent a notice which may have fell off the door?? The maintenance folks don't work on weekends, unless it is really emergency. The building materials are really low quality and cheap. I was expecting the opposite, since this is a dorm kinda place and everything should be durable. And forget about design.... everything is so bland and cheap looking. A huge bathroom that is of no use, and your closet is inside your bathroom where all the odors and steam get into your clothings. Basically, you go change or dress up in the TOILET!! And the parking sucks and the parking guy is not helpful at all. The parking slots are so narrow and you can hardly get off of your car if a big car parks next to you. And UCI students can be crazy! Someone hit my car very bad and didn't even bother to leave a note. So be careful and park as far as you can. Walking is good for you and your pocket ;-) I am glad I am out of there :-) read more

I would say probably one of the nicest and newest apartments closest to campus with the decent price. The way it's set up is 3 big buildings--285, 290, 292 and smaller buildings that have less people in it such as 288, 291, etc. It kind of reminds me of the dorms with the rooms close to each other and paper thin walls. They should decorate the plain white walls to make it look more homey. I personally think doubles are more worth it, paying $497 a month (it's $514 now but still pretty good). The doubles are HUGE, with bathroom inside the room. Building 285 is great, right in front of visitor's parking, lots of parking spaces, close proximity to clubhouse and bus stop, and has reception for cingular. The clubhouse has a printer/copy machine (downside is that it constantly malfunctions). There are computers and study rooms available. There is a game room with pool table and airhockey. There's a swimming pool and jacuzzi but closes at 10PM. There is also a small gym with 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, bike and some weight machines. Overall the year I was living in Norte, I was pretty satisfied. The random pulling of fire alarms need to go though. The people are friendly and you can almost always run into someone you know. It's a second year guaranteed apartment and you can win lottery to live there again so let's see what the next year brings!! read more

If you find literally any other housing options around UCI, go there. This place has been abysmal. Internet speeds of less than 1Mbps is unacceptable for a college apartment, or any apartment! No service at all with no support or even signs if trying to fix the internet. It gets especially bad around finals, when the internet frequently goes down, so if you have an online exam, you're screwed. If you're thinking of moving here or any ACC apartment, just don't. It's hilarious that they try to show they care on Yelp with the copy and pasted reviews. read more

VdC Norte is relatively a nice place to live! The rent is expensive, but what do you expect? It's basically an on-campus living community in Irvine! The apartments are nice. I think it's really worth it if you get the double because there is SO MUCH ROOM. Norte is definitely a lot smaller and not as spacious as VdC, but it's still nice to walk around. There's free printing and the CAs always have programs going on (aka free food and goodies)! It's up to you to take advantage of it! read more

Living at Vista del Campo Norte is truly a terrible experience. Let me start off by saying the people who run this complex are completely incompetent. The CAs/Front Staff are all great, because they're students and they're trying their best. I'm talking about the managers, bookkeepers, other higher ups who hide behind the students that work here. Living here is truly a farce, because they tout being "extraordinary" but barely cut it. I'll start first from my first year living experience here. In the winter of 2018, it began raining a lot in Irvine/SoCal in general. I lived in a first floor apartment adjacent to a stairwell (oh yeah there's no elevators too btw). Essentially, as it began raining consistently, water started seeping into my bedroom from the adjacent stairwell. The carpet all along the wall was sopping wet. I had to make multiple phone calls to maintenance to come and try to fix it. Nothing happened. The second bout of rainy weather brought back more water into my apartment and still there was no real solution. The maintenance staff were kind enough to offer fans to help dry the carpet. But when they brought them over, they were actually industrial sized fans and dehumidifiers that took up most of the space in my room. It also seemed like they just forget them there because I had to make multiple phone calls to front staff to have them removed. Turns out that the leakage was happening in all the apartments adjacent to a stairwell and vdc has known about it for some time! Where is my compensated rent then? If you're selling me dilapidated housing, might as well price it that way. Do not live here. All this place wants is your money. They don't respect your privacy by placing a "24 hour entry notice" with an open time frame of two weeks! Anytime within business hours. Its so disrespectful to the privacy of students who are paying so much money in rent, that at anytime within those two weeks someone will randomly enter your apartment to do cleaning. When I was trying to move into another apartment, I was forced to find temporary housings because there was a two week gap between leases. I called multiple times to try and find an apartment I could live at. I even offered to pay. I tried asking if my new apartment would be ready but they kept saying things were still being cleaned and prepared and there would not be allowing more people to move in early. They're so shady. Even when I moved in, my apartment was still dirty and bathroom sink was broken. If you weren't going to even try, the least you could've done is let me be disappointed sooner! There is so much more wrong with this place and it's truly appalling. I would suggest living anywhere else because this place does not deserve anymore business. Literally any other Irvine company apartment would treat you with way more respect and actually provide you with a clean apartment. read more

A negative review on yelp for VDC Norte won't really matter because with the many 1st years leaving the dorms to find housing "on-campus" for their 2nd year, VDC Norte will always have business but anywaysssss Pros: - many bus stops ~ one is full? use another - safe, doesn't get as much theft as VDC - utilities covered in cost, so you don't have to worry about using too much water or electricity really bc it's fairly difficult to reach their limit - they have mildly fun events w food at the clubhouse from time to time - 24/7 front desk service - limited free printing, but nonetheless, free printing - study rooms - double room is huge Cons: - small gym w limited equipment - from time to time, you will be late bc buses are full but thats also really on you for knowing but not getting up earlier ehh, i can't really think of much cons. I enjoyed living at Norte; it was convenient. I just don't expect much from housing around UCI lol. So overall, Norte lived up to expectations (neither high nor low). read more

Moved my son today. The apartment was filthy and management didn't even bother to ensure the room was clean. There were so many issues. 1. When we walked in, there was a foul and a mildew smell and after a few minutes, my husband and I had a bad headache. I opened all the windows to let in some fresh air. 2. Floor was sooo dirty and filthy! Counters had good stains. 3. Refrigerator was full of spoiled food, which I cleaned out. It was disgusting!!!!!Called the main office and supervisor told the person who answered my call, that there was a person living there so they couldn't clean the apartment during the time they were scheduled. But later to find out the person they said was occupying one on the room in the unit, hasn't been there for 2 months... so VDN, had 2 months to clean and get the apartment ready!!! 3. Under the kitchen sink was absolutely gross as well, looked little dead fruit flies were everywhere towards the back and underneath the pipe. Food was also stuck at the bottom underneath the trash can. 4. Carpet looks stain and gross. 5. Little bugs in the corners of the walls On a good note when I complained, they did offer to send some one immediately to clean but they only cleaned a small portion of the apartment did not throughly clean the whole apartment. When I spoke to the office, I know I told them to also vacuum my son's room and they didn't do it!! using as an excuse that I didn't mentioned it. But I did!!! However, they still refuse to vacuum.. WTH!!! Isn't there a protocol or process of getting these rooms clean before assigning. Spoiled food, bugs and foul odor is health and safety hazard. As a mom, I felt disappointed and disgusted leaving my son there! But after reading the reviews and comments, I guess I am not the only one who had issues with this place. 2.5 stars VDC Norte is one of those places where you'll either hate it or you love it. Unfortunately, most of them will hate it. VDCN is the second furthest from the school, and is across the street from Camino Del Sol. VDCN has rates averaging $700 now, where you'll be able to love the fact that you're paying that to share a room with someone, or living in a smaller single :P You have a good sized room (where you can have two beds, a dresser, a desk, and a lot of space in the middle where you can exercise or something). But the thing with VDCN? You will fall in love with ants. Ants. And even more ants. Ants in your cereal ants in your pants ants all over the place. Why? Iono. Even the 4th floor has ants. The places that you're safe? Putting it in the refrigerator. I think that's about it :P You might need to get a lot of ant medicine here. I'm warning you. Ants. But that's okay. At least ants aren't loud. The random "fire alarms" here are plenty. Very plenty. For some odd reason, they have a lot of "fire alarms" that go on regularly. In the morning. In the evening. They're sure to wake you up! Yep, didn't live here either (VDC) but the only solace you get in here is that you'll be sure to have a big room! Price? 3rd highest. There also is the bus (VDCN- Orange Line- N line) that takes you to school that is really full when 8am finals exist! I give this place ZERO stars if I could. --WHAT SHOULD I ORDER-- What should you order? Order a 6 pack of headaches and a gallon of frustration. I started living here in 2012 as I was working and attending the MBA program at UC Irvine. At $967 per a month, it make seem like a good deal, but HA! HA! HA! Joke's on you sucker! Around July 2012 - August 2012, there were 4 blackouts from 8PM - 5AM in the morning. GREAT JOB PLANNING! I come home from work at 6PM, no time to really relax and bam power goes out. I lay in bed at 9PM for about a week straight. I called the office to ask them why is the power shutting off at 8PM when people are at home? Oh, and are you going to pay me for the wasted food that spoiled during the hours of a blackout? Nope. Cell phone service...ABSOLUTE SHIT. DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU HAVE AT&T. I called to see if there were alternatives and got a MicroCell installed. Welp, guess what, the internet here sucks too! So in the time of a power outage, I had no power and no cell service. People can't do much here in the unit, you can't paint your walls, you can't hang anything on the balcony, and you can't smoke anywhere within or around a 25 feet radius of the building. By the way, if I want to hang an American flag, I will hang an American flag off the balcony as that is part of free speech, and I follow the rules of the federal government, not some poorly mismanaged company. One time, the toilet stopped working. I called the leasing office and they told me that this wasn't an emergency. Maintenance will be there tomorrow as they deemed this as a no emergency situation. Really? So what am I suppose to do when I need to use the bathroom? Oh, got it, I'll use a public restroom 100 feet away. In this case, isn't the that reasoning subjective? What if I got killed in the middle of this apartment complex because I had to go out to use the public restroom? Talk about irony. One time, the pipes between the 2nd and 3rd floor burst and water began leaking in the middle of the kitchen floor. NICE. Maintenance came immediately, as this was an "emergency". Office didn't offer any explanation or any form of customer service. Oh, I had to clean up the floor after. Another time, I came home after school (around 11PM), the garbage disposal was somehow backed up by the first floor, then the 3rd floor people ran their dishwasher, causing everything to backup into my kitchen. Sink was flooded, kitchen floor was flooded of food and garbage. Guess who cleaned it up? THIS GUY RIGHT HERE! Office didn't even offer to send someone to clean it up, Fire alarms. These people issue surprise fire alarms at 5PM, 8AM, 12PM. This happens about once a month. Be prepared to have a 30 minute fire drill in the middle of nowhere. Everyone conjugates in the parking lot...then waiting around for the alarms to be turned off...so pointless. There are no evacuation drills, no name checking, just lets have a 30 minute breath of fresh air. --HOW IS THE SERVICE-- Management sucks. Period. The staff that runs this place? Get a real ******* job. You think just because you are the authoritative figure on student housing entitles you above everyone else? Congratulations, you are all bunch of babysitters, way to fulfill your life. Your parents must be so proud. --WHAT IS THE PRICE-- Don't pay for this living accommodation, your money should be better spent in another complex. They no longer require you to pay for all 12 months when you're living there for closer to 10 and a half. After learning that, I figured it was time for a thorough update. Considering the inflated price of other off-campus Irvine apartments, the friendly service, free printing, more efficient mail system, and the fact that it is wintertime right now and all the ants seem to have frozen to death, I like this place a lot more now. Yes, the walls are still thin. Yes, the shuttle still wakes me up in the morning when it groans to a stop in front of my building at 8am, but I've gotten used to it. The things I really like about Norte (the 24 hour gym, the fact that my apartment is above the study rooms so I get free wifi, the ice-cold water fountains) have overshadowed the bad. 3.5 stars, but I will round up to balance out my previous 1 star review. read more

Since you're reading this, I'm going to assume you're looking into living here. Well, spare yourself the hassle and DON'T DO IT. Avoid at all costs and dorm elsewhere! Take it from someone who has lived here...the overall 2.5 Yelp rating is pretty on the nose. Management is an absolute abomination. They have a tendency to "misplace" things. I have gotten emails about them not receiving my check and charging me a late fee when I did in fact turn it in--well before the 5 day grace period too. I'd e-mail them to double check because $967 is not chump change. Without even saying sorry, they would tell me to "disregard the previous e-mail, we located your check". Or that it was the bookkeeper's fault. At least double check before you send out those e-mails. I'm lenient but it has happened on a number of occasions (not just for my check, but my lease as well) and it's VERY unprofessional. During my stay here, I've had my fair share of 1AM, 4AM, and even ill-timed 8AM fire-alarms before class. Some of them were staged for drills and others were not. Water has also shut off unexpectedly for stretches of hours and ants are a recurring problem in the summer (cmon Peter the Anteater, do your job!). The wi-fi is subpar and I was also "matched" with someone who was completely incompatible. To keep it short, she was messy, inconsiderate, and a nightmare. What I did like about VDCN was the gym access (it can get crowded at nights so go during off-hours if you want to use equipment or walk a little extra to the ARC instead) and the free printing--although don't expect there to be any ink left during finals week. People tend to print their entire textbook and reams of paper. I'm so glad I graduated and moved out. Sayanora VDCN and good riddance. Definitely not worth it for the price you pay. read more

I think this place is an OK place to live. THIS IS MY REVIEW AND COMPARISON BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT HOUSINGS FOR UCI. After your first year...your main choices are VISTAL DEL CAMPO NORTE, VISTA DEL CAMPO, and CAMINO DEL SOL. VDC Norte has smaller rooms, smaller bathrooms, smaller pool, smaller community center, smaller gym...basically EVERYTHING HERE IS SMALLER...twin size beds -_____- VDC is the complete opposite, bigger rooms, bigger living room, bigger bathrooms, bigger gym, bigger pool, etc... and you get full size beds :) CAMINO...is basically like VDC, but with better furniture...basically everything is better in CAMINO...BUT...parking sucks, you have to park far and then walk to CAMINO...bummer MY ADVICE...go to VDC...its best all around...if you dont get VDC...try to go for the GRADUATE HOUSING...why? you get full size beds (in VDC NORTE), FREE PARKING, and FREE WASHER AND DRYER! Ant problems, thin walls, tiny rooms for a high price, cheap (and often gross) furniture, fire alarms, the dumb rent policies and useless staff, and ever-rising parking prices. I lived here for a year. It sucked so much. I would just like to add that there was an incident, where an apartment across from mine was having a party that evening (well it was more like 2 am). When I woke up the next morning and opened the door to get to class, there was vomit on my door and in front of it. Staff told me it was my responsibility to clean it up. I didn't have any of the widespread ant problems people reported. My experience with the administrators was nevertheless deeply troubling and I would caution new renters against living here unless you can guarantee your roommate assignment. I'm currently living in the 2BR/2BA graduate housing units with another student (both of us undergraduates). During finals week in Winter quarter my flatmate went into my room, trashed it, and left an angry note on my bed. I reported it to the CAs that night when I returned and spent the rest of the night on campus. The resident directors were very accommodating for the first day. On Friday night I went home, cleaned up my room, and tried to move forward while seeking to have us split up since clearly the flatmate arrangement wasn't working. Nothing happened over the weekend and on Monday the resident director seemed skeptical of my story. Moreover, I was told there was no way we would be split up unless my flatmate explicitly threatened me. I get the impression that I should have filed a police report, but at the time I didn't think it was necessary. The administrators seem either unable or unwilling to take responsible action without real impetus, meaning they need an actionable threat, not just credible concern for one's own safety. "Lesson learned", I guess. It doesn't appear that there's a feasible way to break my lease without paying a huge sum penalty, and I'm not sure if there's any way to offer to move to another unit myself. Basically, I'm stuck with this guy unless he threatens to harm me (or actually does it). My issue isn't with the misfortune of getting a bad flatmate - it's gotta happen to someone; my issue is with how they've handled it so far, especially since I've been clear that I'm concerned about it happening again and me being personally harmed in the process. I'll update if anything changes, but given the mediocre rent rates and the outright poor management (documented and extended in other reviews), you're really better off not rolling the dice on this place. read more

I know what you're thinking. Four Stars? Are you crazy? Hear me out. I lived here during my Sophomore and Junior years while attending UCI. I realize that everything is a bit bigger in VDC. The beds, rooms, bathrooms, pool, gym, and so on. For some reason, despite being 6''4', this never seemed to bother me. I always felt quite comfortable, slept well, and never got stuck in the shower. The apartments were simple, but had everything you might need. I also really enjoyed the free cable and internet. The rent was also reasonable for Irvine standards at the time. I'm pretty sure it would have been more expensive to live off-campus. I also didn't need to buy a parking permit because the ASUCI shuttle took me to class everyday. I also had a lot of fun here. A lot of my friends lived in VDC Norte, so it was easy to keep in touch and hang out. We would hang by the pool, grill some food on the BBQ, and have kickbacks all the time. It was a really chill community with plenty to do. I also threw a HUGE party for my 20th birthday- I think like 75 people somehow managed to cram into my tiny apartment. Yeah, I got busted by the CA's, but it was totally worth it. I understand a lot of the complaints that others have posted. However, when I look back at my years in VDC Norte, I have nothing but fond memories. read more

I'm a UCI student here for the summer only, THANK GOD. I would be so sad if I had to live here for the whole year. I don't know who is doing the ratings when they rate VDC Norte as one of the top apartment complexes in the country. First of all, rooms are TINY, about 10X13. It's really unfair going to VDC and seeing the rooms they get, the full size bed, AND cheaper rent. Second, their laundry system has no machines that accept credit card. I walked to another housing complex and bought a card there and the Norte system refused to take it. The front desk was no help, they sent me to another building in Norte only to find out that their machines are exactly the same as the ones in this building. Third, JESUS CHRIST THERE IS AN ANT PROBLEM. They are EVERYWHERE. I spray Raid every day and they still come back. I've never eaten in here yet I still manage to find a few traipsing around my room every day. Fourth, they are completely ridiculous with parking. There are no monthly options like there are in other parts of campus, resulting in a ridiculously high fee at the beginning of the quarter, for my 10 week summer I paid almost 300 dollars while across the street their parking is 80 a month. Also, they register the car by license plate which means only one car can have the spot, instead of having a removable placard that can be used if you have to change cars. Don't live here if you can avoid it. It's not worth the price and the ants will drive you mad. read more

This place started out great and slowly turned into a nightmare. The amenities are great, and the shuttle service to campus is so convenient. That's where it ends. Not only is the pricing for rent ridiculous, parking is absurdly high considering that you can only park in their lot, and that permit does not transfer over to parking on campus. I had several AWFUL experiences living here: 1. I had a bee problem in my apartment. Bees were turning up left and right for a week. I called in twice demanding an inspection. The first "inspection" they left a note saying they didn't find anything. I had to take photo of all the dead bees I had killed and the ones lying on the floor in the common room, and my roommate and I both emailed Tyler Griffith saying that this is not only inconvenient and scary, it is dangerous for I fear stepping on a bee or getting stung at night. I was angry that their "Inspection" came up with nothing when there was very EVIDENTLY bees all over the apartment. He apologized and sent in another team to do another inspection. However, they reportedly found the source of the bees on the roof, but never notified us after that of whether or not the problem was taken care of, even though we called afterwards and asked more than once. They always said, we don't know what they found. I sealed my vent and taped netting over it, and that seemed to take care of the problem. 2. There are cockroaches in this apartment. I've called several times to put in work orders. And half the time, they do put out bait. The other half of the time, they write a note saying "Terminex inspection" with no detail of whether or not they actually DID anything. Isn't the point of leaving a note to explain what they found/did to take care of the problem? 3. Back to the issue of them finding bees on the roof. Somehow my apartment ventilation system was widely accessible by the roof because I then started having rodent problems in my vents soon after the bee problem. My guess is they opened up the access to my vents to take care of the bees and never closed it. I would hear HORDES, and no I am not exaggerating, it sounded like at least 15-20 rats running across my ceiling at night. So loud that the ceiling would creak and I would freak out for fear that the ceiling would come crashing down. I called to put in a work order and their response: "sorry if the problem isn't inside your actual apartment, we can't do anything." At this point I didn't expect much anyway. 4. Along similar lines of the rodent issue, the vents to my roommates room must've also been discovered, because we started getting extremely large horse flies from her vent. If you've never seen a horse fly, they're as fat and large as a bee, which is what I originally thought it was upon inspection, I panicked. However, looking closer I realized that they are in fact flies. Not that this is any more pleasant than having bees popping up. We called in a work order, and once again, a Terminex note was left with zero detail about anything and I highly doubt they did a thing, even though I also requested cockroach bait again in the same work order. Overall, this was a combination of bad luck and bad service. The bad luck of my vent system attracting all pests possible was only made worse since Norte literally could care less. Everytime someone answered the phone, they were nice and genuinely sounded caring. Until nothing happened a week later and I was forced to call again with a lower tolerance for their shitty service, did I remember that they do in fact have the worst service possible. read more

Let me start out with the good. VDC Norte is nicely built, clean, and generally looks more like an upscale apartment complex than something you'd find at a typical college. There is a pool and hot tub, small gym and barbeques within easy range of most apartments. Now for the downsides. VDC is easily the most distant on-campus apartment - even Stanford Court might be closer for some classes. If you have a cell phone with AT&T, expect next to zero service in most of Norte and VDC. I have two or three spots where I can somewhat reliably get calls, but older phones in particular are nearly unusable. Second, internet is a joke. The maximum speed you can get from ethernet in the rooms is slower than the _wireless_ on campus. My largest complaint is the exorbitant price. I have a two bed, two bath grad apartment and am paying $864 as of this year (08-09). Compare this to a two bedroom apartment in Palo Verde with one bath for closer to 600 dollars. Having one fewer bathroom is well worth the improved internet and much cheaper price of PV. Don't live in VDCN if you care about price, location, internet or AT&T coverage. I can't get out of this lease fast enough. read more

This place has more fire alarm drills than any other place I have ever lived! I was about to cook dinner then the fire alarm went off, I went to check in for the drill and 22 minutes later the fire alarm was still going off! The staff seemed surprised when I was asking about when the fire drill was going to end so maybe they could do more prep for these drills. The bus to campus is nice, saves on parking costs. The gym is in ok condition, they could replace some of the worn out equipment. Compared to the rent for off-campus housing it's a good deal. read more

I lived here my sophomore year at UCI, the year it was opened. For starters, if you can try to live in VDC instead of Norte because the latter is so much smaller. Needless to say, it's still a decent place to live. I don't know if they've changed the rules but when I lived there, UCI wouldn't let you buy a parking permit for campus. You had to take the shuttle. The parking nazis are also pretty efficient in making sure to catch you if you're not a resident. You have to register your license when you live here so there's no visible permits on cars. You can't hide either, they have some scanner attached on a car that drives by to scan all the license plates. Some memorable events include the amusing yet annoying appearance of puddles of puke from a crazy night before. Drunk people running around playing hide and go seek in the halls and ding dong ditch. Entertaining when there was nothing to do, irritating when you have midterms the next day. Fire alarms went off all the time. Internet was super slow and good luck using your cell phone. read more

Due to an aggressive complaint saying my review isn't valid/I'm somehow being misleading, I'll explicitly state it again: I'm not a UCI student, and my review is based on visiting and staying week long intervals. I did not try to claim anything about rent/prices, I just wrote about my personal experience at Norte. Not a UCI student, but I've stayed at Norte a few times. Living here is pretty convenient. The facilities are nice, each bedroom has its own bathroom, each person gets their own parking space, and the bus runs up and down the hill and all the way down to UTC and campus. It's also pretty much a walk away from the grocery store/everything in that plaza as well, so everything you need is pretty much within walking distance. The area is clean and well kept (even the areas the dumpsters are put in is decorated with ivy/flowers), and if you have a chance, you should stop by at the VDC pool. It's a short walk away and the pool is clean and relatively large (not a lap swimming pool, but not definitely bigger than your run-of-the-mill apartment complex pools). Also, everything's well lit at night and there are plenty of emergency rape poles so don't trip if you're walking around at night. Plus it's so quiet after 8pm that you could probably take a nap in the middle of the road here... read more

My experience living in Vista del campo Norte has been relatively positive to say the least. I have lived here for two years in a double and definitely think it was worth it if you go that route. The room was extremely spacious for a double and the bathroom was a decent size. While on the other hand, the singles were quite tiny for the price. Unless you don't mind being confined to a small space, I'd look elsewhere. The area is quiet and always kept clean. Work orders are taken care of in a timely manner. The laundry rooms were kept tidy, although it would be more convenient to have machines that accept credit cards rather than going through the trouble of loading a card through a machine that only accepts cash in the form of $5, $10, $20. Not even $1 bills??? Shuttle service is great, however if you live by the 3rd stop by the clubhouse, you may get left behind often during peak hours. One of the biggest complaints by far would be parking. Parking is ridiculously expensive for each quarter. Also your guests have to pay for parking which is the biggest inconvenience and there's no way around it. If the ACC community could create stalls for visitors to park for maybe an hour or so at the very least for free, or even street parking between set hours, this could alleviate the hassle it causes for everyone. Because in reality, no one wants to come over and visit without worrying about potentially getting a parking ticket. read more

I lived here from 2012-2013. I lived in the undergraduate double. For the price that I was paying, it was worth it because it was furnished and it came with a lot of amenities. My roommate and I lived comfortably, we had a lot of space and our own private bathroom. We had access to a pool, jacuzzi, gym, free printing, computer lab, etc. (Prior to moving in, 3 of us were friends and our 4th roommate was a random.) However, when we first moved in, we spent the summer pretty much cleaning up the place. ACC claims that they spend a week cleaning after previous residents move out. If they really do, they did a terrible job. Management said that they couldn't clean our apartment because one of the tenants in our apartment chose to renew her lease, therefore they couldn't enter the apartment. Although I do understand that, I felt like they should have at least tried to compensate new tenants in some way (or at least let us know.) 3 of us were new and we were expecting to move into a new and clean space. We complained to management and they agreed to come in and at least clean/fix up the common area/private bedrooms but they never did. So we ended up spending the beginning of our lease cleaning up after our previous tenants. Walls are thin. Because these apartments are laid out next to each other through hallways, you'll hear your neighbors upstairs, (surprisingly) your neighbors downstairs, and even your neighbors on the same floor as you. My main complaint is them running up and down the hallways. It gets pretty loud/annoying... especially when you're trying to study or sleep. Walls are so thin that regular footsteps upstairs really sound like elephants stomping around. I lived on the 3rd floor and oddly, we had a few ant problems here and there. It wasn't too frequent but when it did happen, it was pretty bad. Back to what I said about me thinking the price is worth it... Yeah, VDCNorte looks pretty luxurious from the outside and even on their website (which by the way looks NOTHING like the inside of the apartments) but their staff doesn't really do much to make the living experience as good as they claim it will be. I hated going back and forth with staff members about either a missing package, an issue with my rent, etc. They usually gave me answers like "I can't help you with that, but I can forward you to someone who can." And that person usually had be back at the first person I dealt with -_- In all honesty, I don't think living here is worth it anymore since the prices have gone up. I chose to live here because I thought it would be much more convenient that I wouldn't have to buy furniture. I wish I knew how ACC worked beforehand. That way, I could have chosen off-campus housing. read more

Pros: Close to campus, Free shuttle, Clean, Friendly staff, Fast internet, Everything works. Cons: Not super expensive but still not cheap, Parking costs $250 per quarter, SUPER thin walls. I don't know why VDCN has such low rating on Yelp? It's a clean, nicely kept apartment complex and everyone is very chill. And the cellphone reception is crappy for AT&T (idk about Tmobile or Sprint) users ONLY. I have Verizon and I get 3G almost everywhere within my complex. My buddy however, has AT&T and he rarely gets my txt msgs. It's that bad for AT&T users so keep that in mind. And VDCN (i dont know about VDC or Camino) has super, super, super thin walls. You can hear EVERYTHING like I can hear my buddy's computer mouse when he clicks. It's that bad so if you plan on having loud activities like having quality time with your bf/gf you better know everyone within a mile can hear y'all screaming and all that good stuff. And like what's up with $250 per quarter parking permit? It's highway robbery is what it is. The parking lot is basically half empty! come on! I can BUILD a parking structure with that money. In summary, it's a really nice place. Oh, and the alarm doesn't go off every 5 mins anymore. It only went off 3 times during the year I lived there :) read more

Terrible administration. Norte does not care about anything other than taking as much of your money as they can. Expect to pay $300 a quarter to park your car here. Maintenance is awful its hard to express in words. Make sure to be EXTREMELY diligent when filling out the damages form at move-in because they WILL try to charge you for anything and everything that is wrong with the apartment. Save yourself the trouble and find other housing communities to live in. They'll be cheaper and probably have nicer living spaces than Norte. Completely disappointing. I hope you don't make the same mistake in living here that I did. read more

I would seriously think twice about allowing my son or daughter to live at this dump. The property looks nice when you are driving by it and that's about it. The apartments look nothing like the pictures on the website. I was helping a relative move into this place last week and it was so filthy and dingy. The kitchen was so nasty...crumbs and crud everywhere. The floor was dirty and I don't even know how to describe what I saw on the side of the refrigerator. We opened up the dishwasher...mold spots and leakage. Carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed in six months...nail clippings, crumbs and unknown stains. If you have to live here, be sure to bring industrial grade cleaning supplies, a steam cleaner, bug spray and scented candles. read more

I lived here for a year in the Norte Grad apartments and I recommend that you live here for the best value. Grad housing is ~$1000/month and it includes free parking for your car and 250 visitor hours per quarter. If you live in regular vdc or Norte, you have to buy a pass which is nearly $300/quarter and a 24 hour visitors pass is $14. I would have hated if I didn't live in grad (I'm not a grad student btw). Had ants, spiders, and gnats throughout the year at different times that didn't seem to go away. Raccoons are everywhere outside but for the price, grad housing was cool. CA's are usually cool, had a run in with one last week that was very rude and tried to force drunk guests to drive home lol. But other than that, not many complaints. Apartments are small but in grad housing there's 2 bathrooms and in unit washer dryer. read more

VDC Norte is really pretty, and the staff at the front office is always so nice and helpful. There are so many amenities like ping pong, foosball, air hockey, billiards, study lounges and barbecue grills nearly everywhere. It's convenient to have the bus stops so close, but they get full fast are unreliable in the mornings. There are a few downsides though. Rent can be expensive and work orders take forever that sometimes you have to put in multiple. When the handyman does come, they don't do much to fix the problem and if they do fix it, it's just broken again in a few days. The printers are sometimes out of ink, but that is to be expected because it's free and there are other people who use them as well. The gym is a bit small, but it's fine for running lifting free weights. The other machines are nice as well. The pool is also small and only 4 ft. deep. read more

Had a sept-sept 12 month lease. By the time spring came my bedroom light stopped working, the dishwasher never worked, and my microwave broke down. Had a bug infestation that took 4 exterminator visits throughout several weeks to get fixed. AC didn't work and got fixed but then started leaking water and created a puddle in the apartment. A day after it got fixed it stopped working ( in 84 degree weather) . I lived next to the trash room and fruit flies kept coming into my apartment and also up from the drain. Never have had a worst apartment! read more

VDC Norte does absolutely nothing if a problem arises with your roommates. They only way they can do something is if they essentially assault you. You have to go through meditations and if your roommates don't want to you are out of luck. Norte will not do ANYTHING. DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU ARE GOING TO ASK FOR RANDOMS. I have lived in Norte now for a second year, my first year was fine. Than I got random roommates that bring drunk friends who puke in my bathroom. A drunk person came into my room in the middle of the night while I was sleeping, and my roommates have broken several of my things but NORTE will DO nothing about it. Pros: Rooms in the double are very spacious and so are the bathrooms, can't say the same for my roommates single room. Kitchen has lots of cabinets and drawers, furnished well. The landscape is very pretty as well with a news view of the mountains and a big barbecue spot near the clubhouse Cons: The parking gets busy at times and is quite expensive, though you can't expect much from UCI parking. You WILL get written up if you leave your car for a couple hours The rent is getting expensive too going up $30 a year. This Review is soely based on the fact that I live in a three person apt, with a single. The doubles at vdc Norte are extremely large, and had I known beforehand how much larger it would be I would have lived there. I feel like I pay a lot for such a small room. And a twin xl bed. However the staff here have always been extremely nice to me, and have always answered all of the questions I have with them. It's nice however that utilities are paid for. P.S. The internet is really not so hot, so be prepared to be a little angry here and there, but that's more of a complaint toward cox. read more

For starters, I was skeptical about living here. It wasn't my first choice but once I moved in I knew I was going to like it here. I live in a 4 occupancy apartment. I have a single room and I share the bathroom with 1 other person. I didn't pick my own roommates because I didn't know anyone else living in Norte. However, the roommates I was placed with are perfect! We get along just fine. What I like about living in Norte is how peaceful it is. There's never any noise from the other apartments to complain about and the whole surrounding area is very calming. It's perfect for anyone looking for quiet all year round. The amenities are also a big plus. I love going to the gym and using the clubhouse for studying. The staff here are very helpful as well and they are easy to talk to.Work orders in my opinion come fast within only a few days. I had a broken toilet seat and it was replaced within the same week of putting in a work order. I'm very pleased with all the staff we have here. The only problem is the price hikes every year, but it's not that much of a difference. I'm willing to pay for all the perks of living in such a beautiful place. I want to continue living in VDCN throughout my college career here at UCI! read more

Vista del Campo Norte - Apartments Near Me - Irvine, California

This is my first year living at VDCN and so far everything has been great. VDCN is conveniently located next to the shuttle stops and it does not take long to get to campus. Also, it is walking distance to the ARC so that also is a positive. There is free printing and a small gym next to the clubhouse. I live in the 3 bedroom apartment, my room being the private bedroom and shared bathroom. It is great that all utilities are covered and that there aren't any hidden charges. The only downside to living here is the expensive parking. But, every housing communities parking is expensive so it doesn't make a difference. Also, at the beginning of the year, my roommates and I had a huge ant problem. We did not know where they were coming from but eventually we saw less and less of them after using ant repellent. Overall, VDCN is a great place to live in. There are always events going on thrown by the CA's. Also, the study rooms are great. Lastly, 24/7 clubhouse hours are very convenient. I would definitely consider living here again next year. read more

I moved into VDCN in September, so about five months ago. I chose here because it was cheaper than the alternatives that were offered and because I was impressed with the appearance and the amenities it provides. I am not the least bit disappointed in my decision! I pay just under $800 for a private bedroom and shared bathroom--this price includes all utilities. It is such a relief knowing that all the bills are covered and that there won't be any surprises! The apartment itself is nice and clean. It comes furnished with basic furniture (nothing fancy, but it does the job). The bedroom is small, but comfortable--I have not had a problem running out of space. The bed is my least favorite part, but not a deal breaker. The kitchen/living area is nice as well. The pool, gym, and laundry on site are great! Parking is expensive (no surprise there). Overall, this is a great place to live. It's very close to the ARC, has a shuttle right outside the building, and is a 20 minute walk to campus (or 8 minute bike ride).
