I love Arsenal Comics!!! They have a huge selection of new comics to choose from. What's interesting to me is that they carry a wide selection of variant covers and virgin covers! One more thing worth noting is that they're organized between the Indys, Marvel, and DC. I get confused sometimes between the variant/original and new vs last weeks. This is my problem though. The selection is outstanding. I haven't been to Golden Apple in Hollywood, but the fact it's in Hollywood keeps me away. I'd rather drive 20 more minutes to a clean, safe, a very good service store. BTW, they have back issues. It's not a huge selection but they're reasonably market priced. read more

This comic shop is Amazing, yet dangerous for serious geeks !! Other than having a wide selection of rare comics, it also contributes to my guilty pleasure of collecting Funko Pop figures ! I've had nothing but positive experiences at both Arsenal locations. I'm new to the comic book world and all of the staff have been incredibly kind and helpful. Keith at the Newbury Park location took the time to show me how to use the app to set up my pulls and is always patient with my silly questions. Great experiences. Fantastic guest appearances. Oli at the Ventura location took the time to help me track down a specific Golden Book for my kid that I'd been searching high and low for and found it in the shop for me. Highly recommend. I grew up in TO and comic shops would come and go. Would usually need to drive to Simi Valley, Agoura, or over the grade to get to a quality shop. I'd have killed to have this place growing up, but I visit every time I'm in the area. Selection is excellent, clean/welcoming store, and awesome staff. Timmy really cares about comics and his relationships with industry professionals leads to amazing events. Only thing this shop is missing is a good dollar bin! Love the collected sets which is a great way to try a series. Also, there are tables to play games if that is your thing. This store and its owner have zero integrity. I went in hoping to find a specific new comic book, but unsurprisingly, they didn't have it (not blaming them for that). When the owner asked why I didn't preorder it, I explained my past bad experiences with preorders, like receiving damaged books or missing deliveries. Instead of apologizing or showing concern, he retorted with, "Then don't order hot books," contradicting his initial question. Ignoring his rude comment, I found a couple of books I liked. At checkout, I pointed out how ignorant it was for him to assume I only ordered "hot" books. In response, he launched into a personal attack, questioning my character and even my marital status. It was absurd, considering he provoked the complaint by asking a foolish question in the first place. This guy's behavior is pathetic, and I know for a fact his employees don't like him. Additionally, the local comic community of stores often laugh behind his back, knowing his reputation for poor customer service and lack of integrity. He also lacks the talent for grading back-issues, leading to significant disparities in quality of grading. Most of the local comic community knows he's somewhat of an asshat, and those who tolerate him likely haven't seen his true colors yet. Avoid this store and consider spending your money at places like Golden Apple, We Can Be Heroes, Spero's Heroes, or Collectors Paradise. After this experience, I won't be returning, and I suggest you do the same. In the words of Mr. T, "I pity the fool" who continues to support this establishment. Edit in reply to the owner: As you can see by his reply, the owner Timmy isn't the most honest or stable of fellows. I encourage Timmy to release the video of our interaction, because it'll show exactly how unhinged and rude he gets in the face of a dissatisfied customer, but I bet you he won't. Just like how he won't show the "data" he claims to have that proves he doesn't scalp popular books from customers who pre-order. I don't know what that means, but it's his own words. He also claims I got really aggressive, so prove it buddy! Aggressive to employees? You were the only employee in the store, so there goes that claim and your video would prove that. On the other hand I've been in the store when he's coming down on his employees and have heard them later have to apologize to customers for his bad behavior. This man clearly has two conflicting sides to him. How's this for aggressive, Timmy? I'm filing a complaint with the BBB for dishonest business practices. read more

You can see by the responses I get from the owner Timmy what kind of person you are dealing with if you leave a less than positive review. He will verbally assault you in front of your children if he sees you in public then blame you when you do not engage. He will accuse you of violating store policy even though there is photographic evidence to the contrary. Further more he will accuse you of using your children to be an eBay flipper and then insinuate that you have a connection to his break in. Then he will use the opportunity to try to be the victim and push his GoFundMe and use Covid-19 to try and gain additional sympathy. How about you just taking the opportunity, seeing my daughter in public, to apologize to her and we both could have possibly "moved on"? read more

Often, whenever i need to find a good comic or something that's a page turner in terms of visual quality and that of a more particuaor character whether it be from the likes of Marvel, DC,Dark Horse and etc, i can guarantee even if you can't find what your looking for, you'll come out of here at least having had a good experience with the kind and helpful staff, even if they aren't always able to assist, i say they try to maintain a level or care and service that you don't find much these days. So if your ever in the area or need a good place to catch up with the latest heroes or anti heroes, this place has it all, while it isn't always the same experience, i say the least is that the staff make the best of what they can. However this is just my opinion and for all intent and purposes, you might have problems or anything else happen but i say all things in life are like that regardless of who or where you go. read more

I am somewhat new to the comic book scene only having some experience from years back in elementary school. The staff here are super friendly and willing to help you get into, or back into, the comic book scene. Never had a bad experience here and I will be a constant customer now. Timmy is great, as is the rest of the staff. It's sad to see employees come and go over the years, but the service has always been accomodating. My pull list is always honored as long as I order in time and the store selection is thoughtfully organized. I feel welcome regardless of which comics I'm interested in, get great recommendations from staff, and am most impressed by the amount of events and special guests they're able to coordinate. read more

If I could give a zero star I would because my 7 year old daughter was refused service on Wednesday because of her age. She had her very own money and knew exactly what she wanted. Her Dad has been collecting comics now for awhile and she often attended signings and special events held here so she wanted to go and start making her own collection. When they got to the counter, my husband had made his purchases and then our daughter was in line behind him and tried to buy a Captain Marvel issue. The guy behind the counter said it was only 'one per customer' but the one she really wanted had no signs or language stating the one issue she wanted to buy was 'only one per customer'. It's terrible to think that my daughter was denied service. She came home so confused. "Why wouldn't they let me buy the Captain Marvel Comic? I had my own money." You don't see many kids reading books anymore. My daughter actually loves to read. What a shame that this comic book store would deprive a child to buy something of her own. I'm so happy that my husband took her to a different comic book store. They'll be getting ALL of our business from this point forward. read more

Used to love coming here and getting comics and cards. Till I went elsewhere and realized that another local shop is selling their items for a non scalper price. Went in again yesterday to give them another chance to check it out. No customer service, and prices almost double of another local Camarillo shop. Staff is always super nice and friendly. Brought a huge collection of Pokémon there. They loved everything I have. I have complete sets from base all the way to modern. They took some of my cards to see if they wanted to purchase. Didn't quite like the prices for what I was giving them which is fine you can't get angry that a business low balls since they need to make money on cards as well I just know what I have and the condition of them. Only reason I'm leaving a 4 star is because I usually by my booster boxes from there. !!!!!Not a reseller BTW!!!!!! I always open everything I buy. I was disappointed to hear they are charging way over MSRP especially for sets that are so overly printed. Kind of disappointing since comic shops are something I always love and respect. It's cool place, but they really not cut deal on old comics. I was buying old X-Men and ask to get a deal or some discount. I was buy 100++ of comics and was told by staff that if need to buy over 500 to get some discount..I would been cool if they told here $20 off or something. I was also buy regular comics too, that came out that week.. I give them one more go and see if they make the cut... ----------------------------------- Funny thing the comic shop answered my yelp and called me out, that nobody would ever say that one of the staff told me that the only way I'll get a discount is if spend $500. I have no reason to lie. But it's ok. I been to the shop 3 time and all 3 time I have purchased over $100. The lasted time $140, don't get me wrong they have good stuff but they charge you for bag and board. They don't let anything go. This place is awesome. It's clean, well-organized, and the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. If you message them on Facebook (or call) they'll answer questions about what they have in stock or hold items for you. When I called asking if they had a certain graphic novel, they were out but ordered another copy to the store for me. I'm not in Newbury Park often so I don't get to go to the store very much, but I still choose to wait and purchase from them rather than go online. I like supporting a small business run by people who are passionate about what they do and who are kind to all customers. (Also, they have a really good selection of fairly priced vinyl records. One of the friendliest, organized, and fan oriented shops around. Highly recommend! Went into the shop with my young children, who were greater pleasently and asked what their favorite characters were - after a barrage of responses, the employee helped us find items my kids all adored. I can safely say that I have become a regular of this game store. I have been to this store for board game nights/days, trading card tournaments, tabletop tournaments, and just as a place to hangout. For every board game / Trading Card Game I have shown interest in, they have been more than willing to look into/carry the product. Timmy has incredible comic book knowledge and will go out of his way to get you the issue you're missing. Paul has helped my group find the perfect board game and has played a few times with us. As a woman, it's not easy to find a place that feels comfortable in the "nerd" world. However, Timmy has always been nothing but kind to me, has never talked down to me, and is always willing to help. There's been more than one occasion where Timmy has helped me with a project, helped me plan a birthday surprise, special ordered items for me, or just been a friendly face on a bad day. If you're looking for a comic shop with a welcoming, family like atmosphere- this is the place for you. Took a bunch of pokémon, and yugioh cards to see if i could get rid of my childhood collection, brought 3 boxes in and 2 binders. i dropped them off on a friday and was told i'd receive a call by monday with a value of my card collection. Monday came around and i didn't receive any call i called back tuesday and still didn't hear back about it, and was told i'd get called back later that day. I didn't receive anything till friday and got told it was only worth $200 (honestly a not worth anything close to what i've been told) when i went to pick them up they seemed kinda standoffish when giving me back my cards. i got home and started looking through it and i noticed there were cards in there that didn't belong to me, and i there were some that were empty binder spots, some cards were moved out of the binders and loose mixed in with the others and some i think were not there at all. i honestly think they swapped out some of the cards in my collection thinking i wouldn't notice, there was also a magic card and i've never touched a magic card in my life. i think it shady to be honest in response it was the newbury park location, and when i called i was hung up on before i could ask so i didn't bother asking about value when i came into the store. anytime i called the store about the cards i didn't get told anything read more

What a great store and the staff is amazing. I have been going since they opened in the small 1000 sq ft store, then move to their 1500 sq ft, and now to their new location which is huge! Plus opening a second store in Ventura it is a growing store.I love that they have game nights, from Magic, Dungeons and Dragons, and Smashbrothers, this is a urban hip Comic Store.
