    My favorite illustration of Spawn

I love this place I've been a supporting customer since the location by the library in Newbury. Today my actions were called weird for asking questions like what's new and taking a picture of my favorite all time comic which cost $500 right now. Didn't appreciate but maybe next time it can be more professional and my questions about comics can be answered.

Great local store with loads of classics and new stuff. Friendly staff (and you can't go wrong with a store that shares the same name as the greatest soccer club of all time ;-)

Arsenal Comics and Games, Newbury Park is the premier pop culture hobby shop in the Conejo Valley area! Looking for Comic Books? Funko Pops? Gaming Cards? Trading Cards? Trade Paperbacks? Autograph Memorabilia? they are all available and in a wide selection at Arsenal Comics and Games! The main superhero, Timmy, and his staff always treat their customer as VIPs. From browsing the store (where they will assist you with their superb pop culture knowledge) or even during signing events! If you are out of town, they can be reached through their website and social media channels @arsenalcomicsandgames Overall, Arsenal Comics and Games is a Highly Recommended Store!

You can see by the responses I get from the owner Timmy what kind of person you are dealing with if you leave a less than positive review. He will verbally assault you in front of your children if he sees you in public then blame you when you do not engage. He will accuse you of violating store policy even though there is photographic evidence to the contrary. Further more he will accuse you of using your children to be an eBay flipper and then insinuate that you have a connection to his break in. Then he will use the opportunity to try to be the victim and push his GoFundMe and use Covid-19 to try and gain additional sympathy. How about you just taking the opportunity, seeing my daughter in public, to apologize to her and we both could have possibly "moved on"?

I am somewhat new to the comic book scene only having some experience from years back in elementary school. The staff here are super friendly and willing to help you get into, or back into, the comic book scene. Never had a bad experience here and I will be a constant customer now. I recommend following them on Instagram as well. They do live videos where they put up comics for sale that are sometimes pretty rare. My favorite local comic store.

My daughter only tried to buy 1. Clearly there aren't any signs or notes stating there was a limit of one per customer.

If I could give a zero star I would because my 7 year old daughter was refused service on Wednesday because of her age. She had her very own money and knew exactly what she wanted. Her Dad has been collecting comics now for awhile and she often attended signings and special events held here so she wanted to go and start making her own collection. When they got to the counter, my husband had made his purchases and then our daughter was in line behind him and tried to buy a Captain Marvel issue. The guy behind the counter said it was only 'one per customer' but the one she really wanted had no signs or language stating the one issue she wanted to buy was 'only one per customer'. It's terrible to think that my daughter was denied service. She came home so confused. "Why wouldn't they let me buy the Captain Marvel Comic? I had my own money." You don't see many kids reading books anymore. My daughter actually loves to read. What a shame that this comic book store would deprive a child to buy something of her own. I'm so happy that my husband took her to a different comic book store. They'll be getting ALL of our business from this point forward.

Good people who love comics. A real credit to the hobby. Good stock and they help you track down stuff you need.

I've been around card shops for a long time, and most places get one or two things right. This place gets everything right. The selection is fantastic, the shop is clean and well organized, and it actually feels like a space designed for players, not just transactions. You can tell immediately that this isn't just a store, it's a community hub. What really sets it apart is the people. The staff are knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely care about the players walking through the door. That's not something you can fake, and it shows in how the community shows up. Whether you're brand new to TCGs or deep in the hobby, you feel like you belong there. They also do a phenomenal job supporting events and keeping the scene active. There's always something going on, and it creates that energy that great local game stores used to have, but a lot of places have lost. If you're anywhere near Simi Valley and into trading cards, this place isn't just worth checking out, it's worth going out of your way for. Absolute gem.

They also have a great diversity of book genres and sell both new and used books. Everything is neatly organized and prices are really fair and affordable too. If you are ever in the Ojai area, this place is one of the ones you do not one to miss out on! One of my favorite bookstores I have ever been to!

I am someone who constantly gives 5 star reviews. I will only give 1 star if a place is torturing…read moreanimals or gives me the worst possible experience possible (which thankfully is rare). I want to give 3 stars in good faith to Bart's Books but I couldn't help but to notice when my husband and I were approached and HOW we were approached. Let me explain: We walked in and headed towards the right back to take a look at books. Immediately, an employee (maybe the owner)? with a black cap on approached us and said in a stern voice, "Do you need any help?" When we both answered "No, thank you!" The employee/owner continued to stand there and followed up with, "Are you looking for anything in particular?" To which we both replied "No." Then we were left alone. What I noticed is I was the only Black person inside this entire shop and my husband is a POC, Indigenous. So it felt very off putting. Especially considering there was a man right next to us who wasn't asked a question! That same man turned around to look at this employee/owner when we were approached, then realized he wasn't the one being approached and turned back around to look at books. There was also another couple on our lefthand side/bookshelf over and this employee/owner walked right by them and didn't ask them the same line of questions. They were white AND they entered behind us. We weren't even in the shop for a solid minute before we were abruptly approached. I didn't even get to pick up the book I wanted to look at when we were approached. What adds to it: The employee/owner with the black cap on walked away as soon as we walked up the register to purchase. The other employee stayed put and was polite. Offered to bag my items for me and wished us a good day. Now, listen. I have gone through my fair share of racism, racial profiling, etc. And considering the world we are living in right now, moments like these feel more intense and hurtful. Moments like these NEED to be talked about. We live in a world that can be very cruel, dark and full of racism. With all that being said, I still want to hold on to hope. I hope that this was not the employee/owner's intentions. However, intent isn't the same as impact. Just because you don't "intend" for something to feel or be that way doesn't mean it isn't. This interaction left us both feeling uneasy, especially when we noticed it wasn't happening to anyone else. It almost made me leave, but I wanted to get books! I noticed someone left a review on here explaining something eerily similar to what we experienced and they too named the same employee/owner. To know my husband and I weren't the only ones to feel this way and to be treated this way is ALARMING. Again, I want to hold out hope. But this doesn't look great for Bart's Books. I was SO excited to come here all the way from Los Angeles, get some great books, have a great experience and support a small business. I at least left with two of the three. I can only hope this review can encourage them to do better, treat everyone equally and with kindness! On to notes about the space/business: - Very cute and charming - Peaceful - Organized - So cool to be "inside" and outdoor bookshop - They have a few rooms that do have AC/fans - Seating and reading nooks - They do not allow pets - They do not have a bathroom - They offer events with authors - They buy books - Fair pricing

It's one of the larger comic bookstores in the San Fernando Valley. You can sometimes find a 2-3 month old raw book still at cover price on the stands. They have some stuff that other shops in the valley don't even know about. The selection of new books is great, too. They are well organized, probably the best organization i've seen in a long time at a comic shop. The negatives: prices are way too high for what are basically reader copies, and the presence of the cats in the shop negates the concept of these being "pet free books". Many of the back issues are clearly a bed for the cats, complete with destroyed bags and boards, where the very cute cats have shredded them. Despite this shop having a good stock, the asking prices on every back issue are 2-3$ higher than what I believe is fair. In addition to that, the employees are not terribly welcoming. The gentleman running the counter was downright dismissive, I didn't even get a hello when I walked in the door and made eye contact. I didn't get a single word as I browsed the stacks for at least twenty minutes. The lady working here had a conversation with my wife about the cats, and even talked to my wife about her clothes, but neither employee engaged with me whatsoever. It felt like they thought i was there to cause trouble, even when making a purchase. In addition, this shop is guilty of one of my biggest pet peeves on the planet: not selling displayed merchandise. On the front counter, two small statues were displayed, but when I asked if they were for sale, I was told they still needed to be researched. Man, do it right now, i'm holding the money in my hand for them. In a store with no other customers, and nothing pressing happening, why would you not take two minutes to check the item price on ebay, or even better yet, decide for yourself what seems like a fair price instead of turning away a paying customer? If the item isn't for sale, take it off the sales floor. Stock is excellent, organization is excellent, prices are not good, and customer service is decidedly bad. It feels like the male employee is either suspicious of everything, or gatekeeping the hobby for some reason. I did not feel welcome here.
