Mero is one of my favorite stops for Pokemon in Ventura County! They have huge walls of nicer singles and slabs as well as sealed products. I can always appreciate the range from near mint to heavily played singles with fair pricing based on condition as sometimes you just want a card for your personal collection, not to ship to PSA. The brothers that run the shop have always been kind and I've had great offers for cards that I have brought to trade in. In addition to Pokemon, they have sealed Magic, Lorcana, and One Piece products for fair prices too. They have a wider variety of Pokemon singles displayed in binders, but upon my recent visit, I've noticed that they have expanded to One Piece and Disney singles as well. Aside from tcg, they also have older video games and consoles. I always enjoy my visit to Mero when I am in the area and love that hit of nostalgia when I stop by! read more

Great card shop to stop by if you're in the area, and it definitely brings some fun energy to the collection! I visited for the first time today and saw collectors of all types with the employees being friendly and helpful to everyone :) The selection is amazing with a good number of cards in binders, on the wall, and in slabs. It's also fun looking around at all the cute merch they have like pins, stuffed toys and binders. I bought a couple cards and a VaultX binder that was sold out online! Definitely a fan of Mero Games- Lovely store, great selection BUT word of warning when you are looking to sell Vintage video games here. I was in need of selling some old PS2 video games, PlayStation slim console and controllers. I was met by Efrain who saw my whole supply looking for at least $200 and unfortunately he low balled me, $80 for the whole stack (including console & 2 controllers). He said that none of the games were worth anything, and it came out to $3/game... Now granted I didn't fight back, I needed the cash, however I Came in a few weeks ago, one of the games were being resold for $70, and the few other I saw in the case at least $25-$30. Way overpriced. Selling a $160 Silent Hill game for $700. Or a $20 Katamari Damacy game for $200. Selection isn't very big either.

The owners and staff are very nice. I bought an controller from them that was technically a collectible but I opened it and it didnt work. The owner didnt have to give me a refund but he did and was very nice about it. I've been to this store a lot and it's definitely the best place to get retro games in Ventura county! The employees working here are extremely racist and unkind. They greeted every single person except us and as a minority that sucks. Also said goodbye to each person except me so I knew it was deliberate. It was also the employee with blue green mermaid colored hair. I don't recommend. The variety of games, cards, and other collectibles there is makes it hard to pick and especially SAVE MONEY ( prices are good since the store that sells similar items across the ice cream store is more expensive). I love this place! Now it might take a while once you park and make your way over to it, but as an 80's baby, you can't beat the selection of old school consoles and games available. Hits right in the nostalgia!! Very nice salespeople and great service! Honestly, I'll start off saying very nice store lots of great collectibles and items. It was honestly pretty awesome but customer service was awful. A simply hello how can I help you would suffice or even a hello? My husband walked in and was not greeted at all, he was there for about 5 minutes before I walked in and no one greeted him, asked him for help. He engaged in the conversation and got short answers back. When I walked in, I wasn't really greeted as well other than a head nod and hello when I walked in and said hello first. It was poor customer service, no greeting no initiative to ask for help nothing, just 2 men looking down at laptop or whatever they were doing. We didn't buy anything but had planned too after we went bowling but the customer service through us off and we decided not to come back, why buy from a company who doesn't seem to care about customers. they had great stuff but why was their no minimal effort in being greeted? Even when I was there, no one asked if they can help us or anything. Pretty odd but I guess that's how they roll. I just feel in retail, customer service should always be welcoming, they weren't mean but it was just different/ weird. read more

To start off, the new associate at the pokémon section was very helpful and has amazing customer service. i came in to the store an hour and a half to the store to sell some cards and the associate was there to help me. i understood that it was going to take a while for them to give me the estimate for the total cash out for my cards and it went all the way until closing and i got my final estimate from the associate. The associates had some question for Robert (i'm guessing the owner) about some cards and he was there to help until he heard the total cost how much my payout would be and starts asking the associate how much each pile costs. Mind you, i waited an hour and a half to get an estimate. Robert proceeds to tell me that some of the cards are going to be hard to move, which i understood and then tells me to come back tomorrow so he can give me a new estimate rather than going of his associates estimation, i even apologized because i didnt know it was going to take that long before hand and he told me it was fine, just for him to tell me to comeback tomorrow! As much as they value their time, it was not reciprocated, if Robert was to be present during the beginning and was to tell me that tomorrow would be a better time then i would understand. To the associate that helped me, you had an amazing customer service thank you for the help. read more

Good place to find games, the staff are absolutely amazing, knowledgeable and professional, the prices are really good, the selection is pretty fair, for some consoles, other consoles, the selection could be better, however it is understandable given that older games are really hard to find, and all of the older games they do have, are original, and not retro copies. Go to Past Time Legends on Main St. In Ventura! Such a great store with super nice employees. The owner at Mero games isn't very friendly. Seems like he hates his job and makes me uncomfortable. Just seems like he has a "chip on his shoulder". Non approachable. The store isn't very organized and it smells stuffy. The prices are fair, if you can find the game you are looking for. Alot of the Gameboy games and Gameboy Advance games are in bins all thrown together. Other games are the same. There are some old dust Lego sets and in the back of the store just likes of boxes and crap. Messy. Pretty small store for that kind of hoarding. They do give a military discount (1 star for that) and it's cool that atleast there is a retro game store in Camarillo (1 more star for that). read more

Going into Mero Games is like going back in time. They have a great stockpile of older video games, systems, as well as collector items. It's the definition of Retro. I love playing older video games and this place always has plenty of selection for me to choose from. All the games that I have bought from here have been in great condition and worked. Another reason I keep coming back here is the customer service. When I first started coming here I had quite a few questions about restoring an old NES that I had picked up at a garage store and they gave me some advice about restoring it and I got the parts through them. The brothers who own the place are friendly and helpful. The pricing for the games are pretty good and it's nice to know that my money is supporting local business! read more

Located off of Las Posas Road, a few miles from the 101, Mero Games is in my vision an amazing independent gaming store. There are no frills, boring corporate ideology, or excessive big business mantras; one just gets the impression upon stepping into this business that the owners just love games and want to share that love with the community. Inside, you'll find your typical array of current generation games and systems, both new and used. In addition, Mero Games seems to be the last bastion in the gaming world that partakes in the selling of classic systems. Is everyone really interesting in picking up a classic Atari system? Of course not. But, just as pop culture historians have placed the classic systems on pedestals symbolizing the foundation of the gaming industry, so as Mero Games done by allowing the newer generation a rare opportunity to partake in experiences long past. In addition to video games, one can also find a wide variety of DVDs, Blu Rays, and an impressive selection of classic Lego Star Wars collections. Even more amazing is the amazing collection of signed Star Wars photos available for sale. Walked in just to take a look at inventory on my time off today. Saw the Pokémon wall and was shocked on inventory, then I saw the prices. Store literally felt ran by a bunch of scalpers and when asked about pricing the employee working claimed he paid more for a evolving skies booster box which was priced at $200. I understand you need to make a profit to be a store but this is absolutely stupid. Hope no one makes the stupid choice of waking in and giving this company a single dollar. read more

The first time I went here I browsed around for about 15-20 minutes, and not even once did any of the three staff said hi or even ackowledged my presence. Even when I was literally infront of the person behind the display counter while I was looking through games - just awkward. I tried to break the ice since I was having a nostalgia high, I got straight short responses with seemingly no emotion/enthusiasm. I've been here twice and I've gotten the same reception on both ocassions - I think a coule of other reviewers had the same experience, too. Prices can be a bit higher than eBay.
