Oh My! I'm not a sandwich girl, but my God this is delicious! I've had the Hawaiian Chicken and the Philly as well as a sampling from the Filipino/Sushi restaurant owned by the same next door. I am definitely going back to this place when I decide to go to Coachella again. I have been to a lot of Filipino food places. This earned a spot in my top 3 Filipino restaurants. We ordered the tapsilog and lechon kawali. Yum!!!!! The tapsilog was sooo good. I believe they used butter instead of oil, which was pretty brilliant. The tapsilog is like the Filipino version of bulgogi. Meanwhile... The lechon kawali was pretty good too! The meat (and skin) were cooked perfectly. The sauce was great as well. I believe they use Many Tomas for it, I could be wrong. Not sure if they mix it with something else, too. The customer service was superb. I can speak Tagalog, so I initiated a conversation with the workers there. They were really nice! The father and son who were there knew the workers too. That means that they normally have regulars that go to their restaurant. They even offered me extra rice for to go, which was a very kind gesture. Great Philly cheese steaks! You watch them make your sandwich with at least 2/3 lb of sliced and diced rib eye! A small 8 incher will fill up a man with a hearty appetite. Order a large if 2 of you are eating... it is a little cheaper and you get 2 8 inch sandwiches. I only order Philly's because they are so good. Have not tasted other menu items. The food is awesome! I had a sampling of their different Philly Cheese sandwiches during my 3-day golf game in the area. Their Bacon cheese steak wins top prize for me! The meat was flavored well, the bun was perfect and of course the bacon added that mouth-watering goodness to the sandwich! I loved the spicy Chilly Mexicanos for that hot twist to Philly sandwich and their chicken Hawaiian sandwich was equally great! Their food was matched with excellent and friendly customer service, even when it was probably their peak time and customers were lined up. Went here because there was sisig in the reviews - KAWAWA BEAR ... sadly it is no longer part of their menu. However, we got a few other items, including a cheesesteak (which is HUGE btw, we underestimated the size) and were just as satisfied. Who knew this little gem was tucked away in this mini-mall. Amazing Philly Cheese. I get the deluxe. The meat is always very very tender and juicy and seasoned just right. They don't over do it on the peppers and onions. Just enough so you know they're there, and there's a generous amount of cheese on top. Seriously the best Philly Cheese I've ever had. There chili cheese fries are SUPER good too. The two workers at alkabar were very friendly and eager to serve us. We didnt know some of the menu items but they used pictures and explained a lot of the food to us and we ended up ordering the tagsilog which is grilled angus beef with rice and two eggs on top of the rice. the food was delicious. not something i had expected at all from this unexpected place in the small town of indio. the beef was cooked perfectly and the two eggs over the rice were runny and cooked deliciously. overall a great place to eat highly recommend! read more

Fantastic philly sandwiches! This is my go to place in the east valley for a philly and fries. This is a real hole in the wall with sticky tables, limited seating, etc. One of those places you can make a habit. Not really a foodie's delight, but you can get bacon on your philly... sign me up! I think I've driven past alkobar at least a thousand times over the past 3 years. I finally went in because I was craving a salad, it's almost impossible to find one in that area of Indio. I'm literally SO happy I went in. I ordered their garden salad with turkey and ranch, expecting it to be a small salad since it's only about 5 dollars. I was pleasantly surprised when I got this huge salad that was so fresh it was like they had cut all the vegetables right then and there when I ordered. It had romaine, onion, tomato, cucumber, croutons, and peppercinis and a pickle on the side. Cut to a month later, I think I've gone on my lunch break about 4/5 times a week now. The staff is so friendly every time I walk in. I'm to the point now that they see me and know my order. I highly recommend stopping in if you've ever considered it.
