Normally, I'm not really one for a lot of meat, so I don't typically go to places like this. This hidden gem is conveniently found just east of the 5 Hwy and still 6 minutes from the beach! I heard they were under new management, so I came to see what would change from this business that's been here at this location for over 13 years. After speaking to the owner & learning he is a chef with an already successful BBQ business, I was relieved to know this place is in good hands. The Cheesesteak Grill is known for: CHEESESTEAKS * BURGERS * FRIES But they also have delicious wings! This makes perfect sense coming from an owner who has perfected the art of sauce making! So I can't wait to see what else he has in store! So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed the pizza hoagie, the garlic bomb cheesesteak sandwich, the buffalo & lemon pepper chicken wings and the Philly fries with bacon. The portion sizes for their sandwiches are ginormous and overflowing with meat! They don't skimp at all! The flavors were legit as well & everything felt balanced to me. Their prices are on-par with the quality and convenience of the location to downtown & the beach, as well as, access to the 5 Hwy ramp. Parking is great with access to a huge shared lot. Only the interior is a little "plain" and simply, but this isn't really a deterrent, as the food makes up for it (just not a fancy date spot). If you're looking for a solid cheesesteak, I highly recommend The Cheesesteak Grill on Oceanside Blvd. Overall, I'll be coming back here to try more of their menu! read more

Saw these guys on Instagram and how they were introducing their new Smoked Tri-Tip French Dip and just HAD to come down and try it. Once you get a craving, it's best just to nip it in the bud. My mother and I came down on a weekend to try it. It was large enough for the both of us to just split it. We also ordered the Seasoned Fries and a soft-drink. Fries were great. The french dip was even better. The meat was soooo tender and the bread wasn't toasted so much that the roof of my mouth was tore up. Their bread was near-perfect. It took a little while to get our food...proof they make it to order, instead of having pre-cooked beef sitting in a fridge to warm up like some places do (I'm sure). Total for everything was around $28. Some suggestions: add ketchup bottles to the tables. It's a little painful squeezing multiple ketchup packets out onto the plate. This place just reopened under new ownership. They remodeled a bit but some of the staff stayed on which is great. We had a mushroom cheesesteak with extra mushrooms and sweet potato fries. Both were delicious! The cheese steak was stuffed with tender beef and lots of mushrooms and it is large! The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasted fantastic. This place is a new family favorite and we will be back often. Thanks to the new owners for the improvements. The sandwich is big , but definitely atleast $20 for a full sandwich. I was super disappointed. I have had so many amazing cheesesteaks , but this one is not something I would try again. While visiting Oceanside from Arizona my wife, eagle eyes, spotted this place from Oceanside blvd. At first I was skeptical. Didn't look like much from the street. Small hole in the wall tucked away in a commercial strip mall but we forged on. I'm so glad we did. It truly is the best cheesesteak sandwich I have ever had. Absolutely incredible. Mind you I have been to Philadelphia, twice and have tried many there as well as New York and Boston but this place hands down takes the cake. I was blown away. The taste was amazing and the bun was perfect. It held everything in without getting soggy. It even was a bit toasty and had a good crunch when bitting into it. It was not greasy at all. The meat was perfectly grilled with just the right amount of cheese and onions. It didn't bloat my stomach. It was completely satisfying. Their French fries as well are excellent with a secret in house seasoning that was truly unique. Our order came fast and the place is comfortable with a large television. It's clean and the kitchen is open. My wife and I have been twice already and am planning on one more visit before we leave. I highly recommend this place if you like cheesesteaks. Yummy! I have been going here whenever I drive up north from San Diego and love it! It's hard to find a good cheesesteak, but they do good. I think they went through a change of management somewhat recently. The menu seems pretty similar though. I usually get the works with white American and grilled onions. Delicious! Sometimes I want to ask for extra cheese (since I love cheese) but not sure if that's an option. There is a decent amount inside already, probably plentiful for most people, but I really love cheese. I've been coming to this Grill on and off for the past 9 years! Always a treat to get a real tasty Philly Steak sandwich with the onions, peppers, mushrooms and cheese! On a darn good bread I might add. Just went back recently to see it's under new ownership! Same very good sandwich but I will just touch on it was a little saltier than I remembered! HUGE disappointment and such a waste of money. I did appreciate how everything is still grilled-to-order, but the price hike and tepid service (not by the guy on the grill; he was a sweetheart- the owner who was running the register) do not justify me returning again.
