The prices online don't reflect the price on their in shop menu which doesn't match what you actually get charged. They threw away my receipt and insisted they gave it to me. So this time, I told my buddy I was taking him to Alkobar. The place is small, a few tables inside and the A/C is not quite cool enough, but those Philly sandwiches are delish. THe meat is tender, the cheese is hot and melty and seasoned just right. Cesar had the regular Philly and I had the Mexican Philly. Of course, with jalapeños. The guys behind the counter are no nonsense, no chit chat or what's up. Just what you want and order pick up. Eh, its ok. The bread is nice and toasty. Crunchy. Order with fries and you've got Philly heaven. Not a huge menus to chose from, but, enough to order something different each time. I saw a family picking up a plate with some rice and some type of meat, but with a fried egg sitting on top! I'm definitely getting whatever that is next time. Clearly, the average rating is not for their Filipino food. If it is, it must be rated by those who don't know better about Filipino food. So I had to be in Indio for a meeting I was co-training at. I was excited to find what the area had to offer for food. No Mediterranean which is my usual go-to. This place caught my eye due in part to the ratings and the other that it listed Filipino as a category. Also, it was less than a mile away. When I came in I was a bit confused. All I saw was sandwich items on the menu. I looked at the cook and he was definitely Filipino. I asked where are the Filipino items. He directed me to the shortlist of maybe 5 items. It says I started the above review on 4/6/2016 but never posted it... I was going to rate it 1 star. I had since gone back after yet another meeting I had in 2019. From my recollection, I had the Tocino plate which was pretty good so let's just say it's a 3/5 for now until next time. Averaging both my 1 star and 4-star experiences. read more
