Making an appointment was super easy via text, where I sent photos of what I wanted and the current situation with my hair. Once I arrived, Gen (my stylist/owner) and I discussed all the different routes we could go and what would be better for my lifestyle and how regularly I planned to upkeep. It was a long process (highlights, toner, color, cut, blow dry), but she was extremely gracious and kind throughout. I even asked if we could take some length off, which was way more than the trim I originally asked for and she was very accommodating. The end result was amazing - exactly what I wanted and a true testament to her coloring expertise as my hair is now so dimensional and fun! I felt well taken care of and the vibe here is awesome (chic decor and amazing music playlist). The stylists are truly incredible, as they really care about what they're doing and making sure their clients look and feel their best. I recently got the Brazilian Blowout treatment and I am in love with how my hair looks!! It's been about 2 weeks since I got The treatment & my hair feels just as amazing as the first day! Overall: probably one of the best salons I've been to, if not the best. Make an appointment now!! First of all: my hair is long, very straight, naturally black, and I had grown out choppy BLONDE high lights. This was not an easy job. The Vibe/Atmosphere: The shop is decorated well and super cute/hip. Relaxed, positive, and not intimidating. Everyone in the shop was respectful and absolutely NOT catty, as some shops I've been have been. My hair magician (which she really is) Lisi was amazing. She asked me what I wanted, spent time educating me about the process, and was super nice, interesting, etc. super down to earth and fun. The other hair magicians (they make magic I swear) were also doing amazing jobs on their clients. Top quality stuff here. The hair process: Smooth and comfortable. I've been going to Art & Chemistry with Genevie for a few years now and I highly recommend her to anyone who asks me. What I appreciate is Gen is very knowledgeable and thorough and she takes her time to walk you through the details and set expectations whether is for color or a simple haircut. For the quality of service her prices at every reasonable. If you want cheap or fast, go somewhere else. Here you get what you pay for: a job well done without the overpricing of some other salons. I always have to wait about a month for the next available appointment - I don't see this as a negative, I see this as a sign of good work. This is the only place I've ever been to that accepts appointment requests through text - which is convenient but you make it easier on yourself by giving all the details in one text: what you want done, what's your availability, etc. Otherwise you're both in for a back and forth and you may as well just call. My mother and I have been coming to Gen for our hair for about 4 years now. When I first met her I had cherry red hair that was in TERRIBLE condition and in just one visit my hair looked and felt 100x better and I haven't gone to anyone else since even though it takes about an hour for me to get to her. Was given a estimate of "around $200, probably less than that" to color two bundles of my extensions to light brown. They were 20 inches, dark brown 1b. It ended up being 350$. When I tried to fight this charge, a lady who I presume to be the owner asked me "if I know what an estimate is". She also kept trying to tell me they were lightening them from black so it was a lot of work, but they were 1b brown as I ordered them. I have never paid that much to lighten bundles (to light brown, from dark brown) in my 7 years of having extensions. The colorist lisi did a good job and was very nice this review is not about her. But my treatment at the counter was incredibly demeaning, I kept being being told if I couldn't afford it I should have said something from the beginning. (Why I asked for the estimate in the first place....) One of the bundles was baylaged without anyone asking me with blonde at the tip, although I will say I was not (explicitly) charged for that. All I ended up was getting ten percent off, so I still payed $320. Rediculous. read more
