Parking fills up quickly. They have an overflow lot a few blocks away, but it's an uphill walk to get back to the park. It's a great place to have a picnic. Lots of families and kids. We ate lunch at the cafe, but weren't super impressed by the food. The chipotle chickpeas were bland. The paper menus also didn't match what was actually available at the register. The line to order was quite long, but the wait for the food wasn't the worst. They had lots of seating indoors and a nice outdoor patio with more tables. We walked a few of the trails. Most were unpaved. We managed fine with a stroller, but the paths were a bit rocky. To see several sections, you need to climb stairs so a stroller was not the most convenient. The view of the Hudson, from both the upper and lower terraces, is wonderful and great for taking pictures. It was spring so they had tulips in bloom. Their shady grove of trees was cool to check out. I also loved the upper gardens.

Christine's Critters is a wonderful organization for the sustainability of wildlife in the northeastern region of the country. Old design greats like Rand, Ruder, Hoffman, and Bierut are represented as well as new designers. They're only open on Saturdays, but are very accommodating if you're from out of town and call ahead to make an appointment. I picked up a hard to get Max Huber book, the latest Eye, and a couple of other design books I've never seen before and was happy. Definitely worth a side trip into Greenpoint if you're a designer; the NY Ferry will drop you off a few blocks away and runs every hour.

The owner is a nice guy and focuses on the analog process - he has standard services like film processing and scanning, but also offers the ability to have hand c-prints made from your negatives and even offers darkroom printing lessons. They have only been open for a year (maybe less) so show them some love if you're in bushwick.

The Flowers from Nyssa such a lovely, sweet touch!…read more Okay rented this lovely, cozy space for Sexual Assault Awareness Month Event. The event went smoothly! I would recommend to any charity looking for decent budget space. It was a smaller cozy place, good for less than 60 people standing including 20 people or so sitting. The venue was safe and clean space for us to use. It was easy to setup and put things back when it was time. On to the owner of the space -- I felt that Nyssa, went above and beyond to make sure the event was a success! She was helpful with all details, prompt and great to work with. She is a very kind and down to earth person who cared about our efforts in this event. In the future I hope to host another SAAM event. Of course, if need to a venue like this again, being it's not booked up. Nyssa's The Living Art Gallery will be my go and the main place I'd ever recommend to anyone in need of a venue. Thank you Nyssa!!!

Vista gives you your negatives, a hard copy, CD digital version, and an emailed version of your photos all in 24 HOURS. Vista not only prints your photos for you, but offers you the option to print your photos glossy/matte or with/without border. 24 HOURS!! And for $18! Walgreen is truly ripping you off and wasting your time. Definitely get your disposable camera or film photos developed at Vista. You save time and money, and can share your photos with your friends much sooner. And if you don't have time to pick up your negatives/prints, they email you the photos within 24 hours too. Amazing place.
