this review is based on my experience with david pracise. sorry for the long review. I hate to give the man one star, but I basically wasted a trip out there. nice guy, terrible businessman. this review is not based solely upon david pracise's talent. if you see pictures of work with his name on it, he apparently knows how to turn out some great tattoos, which is why I chose him. he has the talent. the business acumen is not there. AT ALL. I had been emailing the shop for months, and we were deciding a time for me to make an appointment. I made it clear on more than one occasion that I was flying out from California.I was assured, and I can go back and quote the email, that David knew I was flying out from California, and that he would set aside the appropriate time for me to get my tattoo done. I was quoted a price of $500, and paid a deposit of $100, plus tax. I literally, walk into the shop at 12 noon, my appointment time.I was there on the dot. I walk in, was greeted. david is flying around the shop, appears to have a lot going on, and tells me that he has to do a guys sketch, that it should take 20 minutes, and then he can start my tattoo. my appointment was at noon. I didn't sit down in his chair until after 3:30pm. AND HE KNEW I WAS FLYING IN FROM CALI. he kept talking about doing fetty wap's tattoo the night before, and being there and leaving stuff at his house. I don't give 2 shyts about who he was tattooing before. I flew in, tried to support a young, black businessman, and I sit in a shop for over three hours? seriously? I told him, at about 2:30pm, I didn't know I was going to be sitting here, and that my appointment was at noon,and i didn't want to leave the shop after dark as I'm not familiar with that area. (I was in a rental and it didn't have navigation. I dont know how you people drive without a navigation screen). on my life, he looked at me with the same, wide eyed look my brother gives me when I'm about to lay into him, and says"it doesn't get dark until late." oh. I see. so I choose to support you, fly out, and it's my fault for saying something? got it. so finally, he gets done with the guy, and puts my sketch on my arm. he's on the phone the whole time. I look at the sketch, and I tell him, um..its crooked. he says "it is?" i say yes. he wipes it off, and puts the sketch on again. still placed a little lower but I figure it's going to turn out right as he's the artist and it's a realism tattoo. I shuffle over to his seat, and he starts. he's on the phone damn near the whole time. answering the phone, trying to get the limit on his purchase amount upped by the bank, etc. at one point I tuned it out. I was getting a realism tattoo of Jesus, and what would it look like if I cursed mr. pracise out while I'm getting Jesus on my arm? when the shading started, I started to bleed, just because that's how my body is. it was getting late, as he had been working on my tatt for over a couple of hours, and we decided to start again the next day. I could have withstood the pain, as this wasn't my first tatt, but I bleed a lot and I pay attention to my body, and it was telling me it was tired. I asked what I should do-have him finish, as he had stopped to eat, or come back tomorrow. he said it would be better to come back tomorrow. I was planning on being done that day, and starting on time. disclaimer, I I suffer from cognitive fatigue, so after hours of sitting around, I'm exhausted. he had originally said that he was doing my tatt, and then going home. It sounded like he had some people waiting for him after me. we agreed to start again the next day.I texted him for confirmation of the time. I got no reply. I assume I was late, as the traffic was horrible, but I kept him updated. I even texted him about 6 am I believe to let him know it looked like I was going to be late, although I wasn't even sure of the time. he had said the day before that he didn't have anything to do until noon that day. I had to return the rental at 10am, but I would have taken it back late if that was the case. he texted he had to take his wife to some appointment, and wouldn't be back until after 10 something that morning. um...you told me the day before you had nothing to do until noon. I can admit that I arrived a little after 8am that morning, but I had texted him the day before and asked to confirm the time. I got no response. I had to come back to the shop anyway as I left a phone the day before. I got the phone thanks to another coworker that came in about 9and left the shop. needless to say, I left new jersey with an incomplete tattoo.the tattoo was to be $500. I paid the $100 deposit, and another $100. he said he would knock off an additional $100. in the end, he lost money and I lost money and time. maybe if you are fetty wap he'd care more about your time. read more

My husband and I went there on 9/5/15 after having David Precise being highly recommended to us. In addition he was having a special. Any tattoo that would fit in a 4 x 6 space for $100, which is a fantastic deal. Our appointment was at 5:00 p.m. We arrived at 4:50. At 5:10, the receptionist came out to tell us to have a seat and he would be right with us Dave came out at 5:20 said he was doing the stencil and he would be done in about 10-15 minutes and we could get started. Let's start with complaint number one here. I have never had to wait for a stencil to be done when I dropped off the art work 4 days in advance and told them exactly where I wanted the tattoo. But I go on. At 6:00 (a full hour after my appointment start time) he came out to tell me he ran out of toner and had to send someone to get it. He said staples was right down the road and he would be back in 10 minutes and we could get started. At this point my husband makes trip number 1 to the bathroom where he encounters blood on the toilet, sink, floor and garbage can. Can you say DISGUSTING! There are blood borne pathogen laws for a reason. He tells the receptionist and she says it will be taken care of and apologizes. Time passes and it is now 6:30 (half an hour since the staples run) and no one has come out to tell us anything. This is now an hour and a half since my appointment start time of 5:00 p.m. I make a trip to the bathroom at this point and again encounter blood all over (needless to say a call to the Board of Health has been made). I sit back down with my husband, and tell him that I am giving Dave 10 more minutes (only because I am a too nice and an overly patient person), then I am going to try to find him and find out what the hell is going on. Time passes and I go looking for Dave. I go into the tattoo room and he isn't there. I ask where I can find him and they tell me he is in the back room and point to where I should go. I enter the back room where I see Dave with his feet up on a table and on his phone texting. I firmly but nicely ask him what the heck is going on. He proceeds to tell me he is working on the stencil. Which now makes me very angry because what has he been doing for the past two hours when he was supposed to be working on my stencil. I look at the paper in front of him and the stencil is barely started. I proceed to tell him how bad his business practice it is to make someone wait 2 hours for an appointment. At that point he starts to get angry at ME and yells and tells me he decided to revoke he tattoo special and if I wanted the tattoo I would have to pay him an additional $350.00 on top of the $100 I already paid him. On top of that, he kept saying stop coming at me. I don't even know what that means. I said this is crazy. First, I am not letting you do a tattoo on me and I'm not letting you shake me down for more money. I asked for my money back. He said fine and handed me $100.00, Except that my husband and I both had appointments and he owned me $200.00. He tried to get out of paying me the additional $100.00 he owned me but finally paid it. Needless to say I will NEVER go there again. The place was dirty, had blood all over the bathroom and had bad business practices. In addition, he broke a binding contract. (I'm in the legal profession) He tried to shake me down for more money. I was going to have a tattoo for $100. Now who knows how much money I will have to pay to get the same tattoo. This is only my opinion, but please don't get a tattoo at Art N Soul Tattoo or by Dave Precise, if it is for nothing other than the blood all over the bathroom. Who knows if there is blood in other places it shouldn't be? read more

This whole experience was terrible. I went in for a simple tattoo of a solid black Batman symbol and ended up getting tattooed by David. He rushed the whole thing and sent me home. The next day I could already tell the tattoo was going to need a touch up, but I figured I'd wait and see before I say anything. When it finished healing, less than half of the ink held. I emailed them about it and they set up an appointment for a touch up . I called them the day of the appointment just to make sure everything was still okay for me to come in. This is when they told me they never booked my appointment and that David handles his appointments separately. (Why not tell me to contact David separately instead of lying to me about booking my appointment) They asked me to hold and made a new time for me to come in that day. When I got there, David was late and when he finally showed up he brought his kids in with him. I would not of minded that except for the fact that they were running around me while I was sitting down for my tattoo and constantly distracting him. On multiple occasions his children handed him his cell phone, which he picked up and touched, and then continued to tattoo me with the same gloves he touched his phone with. He once again rushed through the tattoo and attempted to blame me for the tattoo looking the way it did (mind you this is not my first tattoo and I know how to take care of them). He charged me for the touch up and then told me "it's fine. I don't need to cover it". I was so annoyed with the whole situation I just wanted to grab my stuff and leave. By the time I walked to my car it was already bleeding a lot and I ended up taking care of it myself. Now it is fully healed again and it is blotchy and the whole bottom the tattoo is missing because the ink didn't hold. I'm so over this place and David that I don't even want to go back and have it fixed AGAIN. read more

So a few weeks back my mother was diagnosed with cancer. A way that I have always expressed things is thru art or music. Since I can remember I have always too my mother that she is the "Wind Beneath my Wings". After receiving this horrible news my first thought was that I wanted a tattoo that reminds me daily that she is in fact the wind beneath my wings. I was referred to David, the owner of art n soul. I immediately called and was told that it was his day off but if he happened to stop into the parlor they would have him give me a call. Other artists there were more than willing to do the tattoo for me though with something so permanent I wanted to go with a referral. Sure enough David called me that afternoon and after explaining what and why I was so urgent to get this tattoo, he told me to give him a few hours to draw up some things and for me to come in that evening. So first, he came in on his day off and was more than happy to give me the tattoo on that day. We're talking 3 and 1/2 hours plus the time he spent drafting pictures for me. Once I arrived we looked at the drafts he made several suggestions that (thank god) I took or else I may have looked a bit ridiculous. The shop was clean and everyone there was extremely welcoming. Had I gone into the parlor rather than call, I know now that I would have been more than comfortable with any of the artists there doing my tattoo. Thank you Art N Soul for accommodating me in such short notice and doing an absolutely incredible job on my tattoo. If only you could all see the feather on my abdomen you would be certain you are in good hands there!!!! read more

Horrible experience and still not satisfied with the tattoo or how I was treated. Twice I had appointments to get a small tattoo on my wrist. The first time we waited 3 hours and left without getting the tattoo. Then the second time David had to leave to pick up his child from school leaving me waiting again for an hour and 1/2. Then there were issues with the printer and sizing it but finally he traced it from the picture I brought in and the final result was it looking like it was free handed by a child and two parts had significant deep holes which I leaned were from the needle being pushed too hard. It took quite a while for it to heal. Once it was healed I contacted them over a month period and had an appointment to meet with David again to get some more work done on it. He did not show up and when I called after waiting outside for 20 minutes he gave me two different reasons in the conversation as to why he was unable to come and also that he was unaware. I tried again to set up a time and now my emails are ignored. Now I'm stuck with a tattoo that looks like my 2yr old son drew and will have to pay someone else to fix it. The most annoying part is it's a memorial tattoo and the other is for my children and my husband had one done by David on the same day and his was done prefect so I'm not sure why I was treated so differently. Great place! I came in on a Sunday without an appointment and everyone there was super welcoming! I felt immediately comfortable. The owner, David, invited me in and told me he would be able to sketch and do my tattoo on the spot if I'd like. This was my first tattoo so I was naturally a little nervous, but he made me feel so relaxed. The other employees, especially an apprentice shadowing David, were also so friendly and encouraging. They were all so professional, organized, and experienced. The place was clean and they used iPads to make payment and administrating tattoo instructions easier. They fucked up my tattoo so bad I am in tears. It's been 4 days .first of my appointment was at 12 he was late and Didnt start my tattoo until 1 something. I should of left !! That was a sign . Second that tattoo shouldn't take that was fast to complete . No wonder why There is so much color mistakes such as shading and color itself put in certain areas and color coming out of black lines. It looks so messy and disoriented. There was color put on top of color because he tried to cover up mistakes on the spot and as the tattoo began to heal the mistakes start to show more prominently. He said that he Will fix it and help me with no cost . What help ?? Why can you just do it right the first time !!! I've had many other tattoos and this is the worst experience so far . Please don't get any color tattoos here . It's very big piece and it will cost me more now to have it fixed or removed completely. Hello to everyone who reads this review. I wanted to share my experience that I had with Art and Soul Tattoo, and hope that I can save the headache I went through for others. The artist I am writing this review about is Joe, who is a very a nice guy but not professional by any means. I wanted my arm (full sleeve) to be tattooed while incorporating a cover-up of an older tattoo. I gave him a deposit for him to start to draw up a Polynesian tribal drawing for me. Six months later and I didn't hear anything from him or anyone from the shop regarding my tattoo. After waiting so long I started to text and call him - I even went to the shop and still got nowhere. Finally I was able to get in touch with him. We set up a day to start the tattoo but to my surprise he had no drawings. It seemed he went into a panic mode and stated texting me drawings that I didn't like at all. We then went back and forth for a while and in the end I finally go in for my first session and finally get some ink on my arm. After that session, I never got another session after that because once again he was not responding to my texts or messages so again it was very difficult to get in touch with him. Given that he said he would work on a drawing in the end he copied my tattoo from off the internet so it definitely was not an original piece it was a big mess and quite a disappointment. In the end I got left with an unfinished tattoo. This was supposed to be a happy moment for me and it became a huge disaster. Let's face it, who needs a tattoo, no one, so let's not get in over our heads it's just a preference and a form of body art. This was to be my last tattoo so I was very clear that I wanted a custom piece and in the end he got my drawing off the internet. I started going to other places and more than three places told me the same thing..... Which was that I was lucky he didn't finish because it would not have looked good at all. I would not advise going there for a big piece and chose your artist wisely, do your homework. read more

First off I would like to start off by saying that if it weren't for David, this place would've gotten one star from me! So I walked in to get a wrist tattoo done two weeks ago (this is my first time here) & im told that David is too busy and he would have his brother Dexter take care of me. Okay, cool. I give it a couple days and my tattoo starts looking extremely faded as if there wasn't any ink beneath my top layer of skin so again I go back to the shop and talk to David , now I'm upset because I paid for a lousy job. At this point, I am pretty damn sure that I wasn't coming back. But he offered to fix it up nicely for free (now I have to endure this pain TWICE!) David was nice enough to extent an apology and offer me another small tattoo again, free of charge because he didn't want a bad referral obviously haha. All in all David cleaned up someone's else's mistake & gave me what I wanted. But rest assured, whatever you do STAY AWAY FROM DEXTER! read more

Shop was somewhat clean but very unprofessional. Had an appointment with David, the artist/owner. I was there at my given appointment time, he arrived two hours late. Then had me double booked with another individual. He made me reschedule, and tattooed the other person. Fine, that was very unprofessional and everything but I stuck it out. Next appointment a week later he was a little over an hour late, I was let into the shop by the apprentice. I sat and waited for David to show up. When he finally did, it took him another hour to setup and prepare everything. I'm sorry but if you're the owner of a business this is not how you operate and show up hours late and double book your appointments. The work was good but I'm never coming back and advised all my friends to steer clear. If they don't respect you the customer then that's poor business policy. read more

Okay, let me first say that I did not actually get tattooed here, but I am super happy actually didn't. I purchased a Groupon to get an hour tattoo session and I booked an appointment with David Pracise a few weeks in advance. The day that I was supposed to get a tattoo, I get a call in the morning that David had a family emergency and my appointment was going to be rescheduled for the next day. The receptionist sounded very uncertain on the phone, but I shook off any uneasy feelings that I had. Okay, that's perfectly fine, we all have family emergencies, I hope everything's okay. The next day, I go to get my tattoo. It's after closing time, but I received an appointment confirmation so I figured that I was still good to go for my tattoo. I get there, the door's locked. No one is there. I call the number of the studio, and David answers. I'm literally standing outside of his tattoo studio like "Are you here? I have an appointment right now" and he gives me excuses, saying that he couldn't come in for my appointment. He tells me, "Oh, I tried to call you but no one answered. I could have tattooed you earlier, but you didn't pick up the phone. You wanted a gargoyle tattoo, right?" First off, NO, I sent you an email of the picture of the tattoo that I wanted, a Yellow Submarine on my outer thigh. He literally did not give a shit what type of tattoo I was getting, he didn't even prepare. Second, I have NO RECORD of any type of call on my phone, they did not email me, they did not call me, they did not notify me in any way that my SECOND appointment was cancelled, and they try to blame me for all the confusion. I got no apologies from them, and thankfully my Groupon has been refunded. They are not only NOT friendly, they are incredibly unprofessional. I'm glad I didn't get a chance to be tattooed by them. A "celebrity tattoo artist" should know how to treat his customers, or at least notify them when their appointments are rescheduled. read more

Art n Soul is a great place to get a tattoo. It's very clean and has a great ambiance. There's a great group of guys that work there and they know how to make you feel comfortable. They do great work and their artists are all very talented. They can do all styles of tattoos. They also have a piecer who can do all types of piercings, including dermals. I would recommend this shop to any one looking to get a tattoo. Great local spot surrounded by Coffee and food spots. Also lots of parking spaces. let me start off by saying if i could rate this place any lower then 1 star, I would.... SO as most of you know, mr. david pracise. held a fundraiser recently. for a half sleeve. and he donated the proceeds to his family, which is very humble of him. now here is where the issue lies, I purchased 2 half sleeves from mr. david as part of this fund raiser. Now ive been a fan of davids work for some time now, and ive always admired his style. needless to say, me and my girlfriend were absolutely thrilled by the thought of meeting david. we even took days off work, to comply with davids busy schedule. long story short, we were forced to reschedule our apt. two seperate times by david. which was super inconveniencing because we had taken days off work for no reason now. so today 4/47/2018 ( the day before our newly rescheduled apt) i receive a call from mr, david, stating he is no longer interested in doing our tattoos, claiming that hes never met us before, and that the people he knows are more important, and as for us, we were SOL. He proceeded to claim that he only held this fundraiser to help out his struggling family, (this was my favorite part) and now since his family is no longer struggling and doing better, he no longer had interest in doing our discounted half sleeves because his normal clientele (the people he "knows)" is willing to pay him far more money then he would have made from our half sleeves.... the half sleeve fundraiser that DAVID PRACISE HELD HIMSELF. essentially he is no longer willing to be a man of his word, after making us miss work on multiple occasion just to keep rescheduling and giving us the run around..... I was basically made to feel as if me and my apt, did not matter to mr, pracise, and his other clientele is far more important then 2 new customers who were willing to drive an hour and a half to meet him. David Pracise does horrible business and has single handly turned a BIG fan, Into somebody who hates your guts... stay away from ART N SOUL TATTOO. david promises the world and then does not deliver. terrible business man... terrible morals. id also like to add that during my phone call with mr.david he kept trying to stress the fact that since this was a "fundraiser" and not a "promotion", that he was NOT doing bad business, in fact he argued that it wasn't business at all. that it was just a personal fundraiser. I responded saying personal or not, you still accepted Money, in exchange for a service. He did not want to hear it, and proceeded to respond very rudely. Stay far away from david pracise. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN!!! read more
