Couple of years ago I started looking for an artist I liked and found one at 7 Souls Tattoo, Fair Lawn. I really loved her work and we started together on my journey. The shop itself is great. Bright and clean and everyone supports the running of the business and I thought I found a place to stay with for years to come. I did nine tattoos with her and along the way and I thought I had built up a nice level of trust and respect. I thought I was a better than average tipper and did my very best to follow her rules for communicating and discussing my designs. In March I was all set to do my tenth tattoo. It was going to be a surprise to show my niece and nephew at a mid-May party. I went in for a consult and reviewed my design and gave my deposit. She mentioned she had idea(s) for the stars in my design and that night I asked her to send me some to review. (This was about two months before my appointment.) I followed up a couple of weeks later and she tells me how busy she has gotten with new customers, how much pressure she is under, but she'll see about getting me something "in a few days." I told her no worries, take a month. I just need it a couple of weeks before my appt so I can review it. Unfortunately, I never received anything from her. Ultimately I had to contact her to cancel my appointment because I didn't have the designs she promised. There were a lot of excuses, but she didn't really try to make it right or find a mutually workable solution. I'm truly saddened because I think she's a fantastic artist ( I had her tattoo her logomark on me I liked her work so much), I thought we had a really good working relationship, and I hoped this would be a long partnership. Avoid 7 Souls Tattoo and Body Piercing at All Costs! I deeply regret stepping into 7 Souls Tattoo and Body Piercing in Fair Lawn, NJ. This place is not only unprofessional but shockingly unsanitary. If I could give zero stars, I would. From the start, I noticed red flags. While waiting, I overheard staff discussing whether they would clean their tools. This made me feel uncomfortable although I've made serveral visits in the past to this and other locations. Yuck!!! Erin asked Meagan if the tools were sterilized so she could work on another client, to which Meagan laughed and said she wasn't going to bother because "it didn't matter." This alone is horrifying, as proper sterilization is critical to preventing infections in a body art establishment. I initially came in to replace jewelry for my conch, 2nd, and 3rd lobe piercings because they required internally threaded jewelry. What unfolded next was a nightmare. Meagan examined my piercings and advised against changing the jewelry on my 2nd lobe because it looked irritated. However, at my request, they agreed to swap it for a longer bar. Erin, who appeared inexperienced and unsure, began the process but struggled significantly, causing me unnecessary pain. Meagan eventually had to assist her in removing my conch jewelry and helped unscrew the balls for my 2nd and 3rd lobe piercings. The jewelry replacement seemed fine initially, and I paid $102.36 plus a $10 tip. However, by that evening, my 3rd lobe piercing became painful, and within days, it began scabbing and bleeding--a clear sign of improper sizing or handling. I returned on Sunday to address the issue, expecting them to correct their mistake free of charge. Erin admitted the bar was too tight and should never have been used. However, I was still charged to fix their error. To make matters worse, they upsized my jewelry unnecessarily, leaving me with a bar I couldn't even use. The lack of professionalism was appalling, but the bigger issue here is the clear violation of New Jersey health and safety regulations: Health Code Violations to Be Aware Of: 1. Failure to Sterilize Tools Properly: * As per N.J.A.C. 8:27-5.1(a), all instruments used in body art procedures must be properly sterilized to prevent infection. The staff's refusal to clean their tools as overheard is a serious breach of this regulation. 2. Unqualified Personnel: * N.J.A.C. 8:27-2.6(a) prohibits untrained or unlicensed individuals from performing body art procedures. Erin's inexperience caused me unnecessary pain and injury, which could have been avoided with proper training. 3. Improper Jewelry Sizing and Injury: * N.J.A.C. 8:27-6.5(e) specifies that properly sized jewelry is crucial to avoid complications. Using a bar that was too short caused my piercing to scab and bleed unnecessarily. 4. Unethical Practices: * Forcing customers to pay to correct mistakes caused by the establishment is not only unethical but also unprofessional. The overall experience was a disaster. My 3rd lobe piercing, which was perfectly fine before visiting this shop, is now damaged due to their incompetence. The unclean practices I overheard, combined with inexperienced staff and improper jewelry sizing, highlight a lack of care for both customers and health standards. I would strongly caution anyone against visiting this establishment. I hope the local health department investigates their operations to ensure no one else has to endure such an experience. read more

First time getting a tattoo, and I didn't know what to expect. But Zurdo was extremely patient and accommodating to a newbie like me. Definitely recommend going to him, the staff makes sure their equipment and instruments are always clean before and after each customer. Pricing is a bit high, and the wait is a bit long. I have been here for a septum piercing which I got a bit lightheaded and I was immediately rushed with support such as water and candy to fix which was great! And I have been back twice to get tattooed by Karin, her detail is incredible and she is a very welcoming person which makes long times sitting in a chair go by quickly. Even other tattoo artist will join you in conversation which makes a really friendly environment which is important to have in this business. This shop *IS A SCAM DO NOT COME HERE* I am very disappointed in the line work and shading in my tattoo and now I have to take my tattoo else where to be properly retouched. This shop is over priced I can't believe they got away with taking $690 on this awful piece, not including what I tipped my artist. This is beyond outrageous and I am incredibly unhappy! My artist Kyle was nothing but careless and lazy with me. After initially leaving this post the store owner Guy proceeds to message my personal number and accuse me of being racist because according to Guy there's nothing wrong with this and he is more concerned with disguising his business as the scam it really is to uphold the illusion that he wants to portray. First off.How y'all don't got no body in there really , and we been waiting for two piercings for Atleast 40 mins. AND WE STILLLLL DIDNT GET NOTHING DONE!! No one barely helped us,or ask what jewelry we wanted like come on .I been to many piercing spots and they never took this long.From the jump ,I sensed the vibes were off with this place as soon as we walked in . How we were spoken to and how we were attended to. AND MAN THE was definitely a young lady who worked there with the box braids,as a poc...me and my friends were highly uncomfortable!! BOX BRAIDS are like a rite of passage for many BLACK WOMEN, it's apart of our Culture!!Its a style meant to PROTECT OUR HAIR! And instantly we felt disrespected! This place doesn't have that intimidating feel of most tattoo and pricing parlors. Chir did an amazing job keeping my nervous self calm and talking me through my septum piercing.
