1) My daughter and I had spa pedicures ($35 each). When we went to pay, it was $45 because they shellacked our toenails (which we didn't ask for or want). I told her that but that didn't make any difference. So she got half of the tip that she would have received. 2) The credit card machine was not working so I had to use their ATM machine. Did not have a good experience here. It took 2 hours to finish a set of dip nails. She redid my pinky nail 3 times, burnt my nail using the dremel tool too much in one spot, and cut my skin. I get my nails done here frequently and have for years! I absolutely love it. Cookie, Trish, Senna, and Callie are some of my favorite ladies. All pictures are of dip manicures. I can go three weeks between appointments with no issue. They accommodate walk-ins easily and are super kind. I went to Art's at the suggestion of a friend. I will not go again. The woman was rude and rushed through the manicure and pedicure. The polish does not match the color shown. I came here to get a full set with the design of marble and I didn't get what I asked for. I had to come back within 2 hours because I really didn't like them and asked them to remove it. The woman doing my nails didn't know what she was doing so another worker helped her out and they both kept trying over and over but I still didn't like them. They let you make an appointment thinking you can get right in but then still accept walk ins before you so you're still waiting an hour. They also charge you $7 for a personal nail box containing items that are supposed to be single use like a buffer and nail file. Went in for a shellac manicure. The place is very nice, and my nails look good! But one of my fingers was bleeding due to being cut when they were trying to cut off the dead skin around my nails, and now the skin around some of my other nails is peeling. I have visited this salon on multiple occasions and have never had the result i was looking for. I have had my nails done 2 times, one time was a fill and they ruined my nail shape and the other time was for the first day of classes, i asked for stiletto and received oval shaped nails that fell off within less than a week. I went one last time to get a pedicure and my toes looked like they had been painted by a toddler. There was paint in my cuticles and the nail polish was smudged after trying to let it dry for over an hour. The workers are kind, but their work leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I have visited several times over the past five years and always felt this place was adequate. It's your standard strip mall Vietnamese nail salon. The prices in Maine are higher than NY and Boston. I went in two weeks ago for a manicure and got hit with the classic upsell for a shellac manicure. I asked if it would damage my nails. Was told "No, it makes them stronger!" Like a fool, I agreed. They neglected to say that shellac needs to be removed at the salon! Three days later, my shellac manicure that was supposed to last 10-14 days, was peeling. I went back. I showed them the peeling shellac. I had a do-over. I was charged full price. It peeled two days later! I did a little research and discovered there could be any number of reasons the shellac didn't last. By the way, with tip, I shelled out $30 per manicure. That's $60 in two weeks. *Poof* gone. What's that saying? "Fool me once, shame on you..." The ladies at Arts Nails fooled me twice. Shame on me, dammit! Either they are using knock-off shellac polish (not CND), their lamps are faulty, and/or the nail techs are applying improperly. For example, getting polish on the skin at the edges of the nail which causes peeling. Research CND certified professionals and do it right. For the same amount of money. Nine Stones, Lucindas Day Spa, and even Cosmotech are properly trained and certified in the application of shellac polish, so your hard-earned cash isn't going to waste. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went with my friend to get prom and graduation nails. We showed pictures and asked for the exact length in the picture. Mine were cut way to short and I even said I like longer nails. My friends nails a curved. The design was got is not even and very wavy when I was supposed to be a sharp cut line. We were charged an extra 5 dollars for a box with 2 tools in it. First off, one of her nails smashed to pieces the day after she had them done. She took them back and got a new one free of charge. All dandy. I went for a pedicure for the very first time with my coworkers. I've never been to a salon before, and when I was asked what I was going to be having, they insisted that I get both a mani pedi. After saying no a couple of times the front desk staff seemed very visibly annoyed. I went to get my feet done and the beautician was also annoyed I didn't know what I was doing. People speaking in another language does not bother me (and I am bilingual and multicultural) but I had a feeling I was being talked about in a not so positive manner. Overall the experience made me uncomfortable and I would not returning. My feet were done beautifully however so they do know what they're doing, I just wish I felt I was more welcome than the rest of the people there. read more

I walked in on a week day and got right in, but my tech took her time and was very nice. I can tell they get busy, but it's clearly because of their high quality services. I'm fairly new to the area (three years) but I have been going to Art's Nails since I moved here. Last week I went back after staying away during the lockdown. The nail tech I had, from the start, was rude. First she told me that I would need to buy a "kit" consisting of a small plastic box, a spongy file, and a small nail file for 5 dollars, a new "policy". I asked if it was necessary and was told yes, that all salons required this "box" and that I would need to have it anytime I needed a pedicure. Then she asked if I wanted a "gel nail" pedicure (I knew this was coming) and I politely said no. She told me it would "last longer" and again a polite no. From then on she didn't speak, or look at me for the remainder of the service. When she finished, she walked away and left me sitting at the bowl, no words. Finally another tech asked me if I was ready to leave (after 15 min of "drying time" at the foot sink) and took my money and I left. Oh, and the nail tech NEVER USED the "mandatory" pedicure box, using her own tools instead. I'm sorry I didn't get her name, but probably wouldn't publish it here anyway. Please, Art's Nails owners, remind your young techs (the more mature ones are always nice!) that service is key these days. No reason to be rude if we don't choose a more expensive service. All that does is make customers like me walk away. There are plenty more salons in the greater Portland area who need the business! read more

This is still my favorite place to come for a mani-pedi and the only place who have reasonable prices ($38 for a mani-pedi) and the color will last 3-4 weeks for the pedi and for me up to 2 weeks for the mani. They have redecorated in the past 5 years and also have great waxing services. I came here with my mom, future sister-in-law, and her mother last weekend. We made an appointment the day before since there were four of us and we had another appointment to get to later that day. We arrived at 10:30 on the dot, and the place was PACKED. Every pedicure chair was taken, plus there were two or three folks getting manicures. There was also a couple waiting on the couch they have in the waiting area. We were told to pick our colors, and then proceeded to wait 25 minutes until a chair opened up for us. My mom and I were seated first, since we were getting manis, but my SIL and her mom waited even longer for a pedi chair to open up. We all started at different times, with my SIL's mom waiting 45 minutes after our appointment time before they even started on her. Turns out there was a group of moms and young daughters (we're talking less than 10 years old here) that walked in for pedis before us and then decided last minute that they also wanted manis. They were there before us, sure, but what's the point of making an appointment if you can't accommodate it? They did a great job - my nails still look fantastic, and the prices were better than any places here in Boston could do, but the whole thing felt rushed and I felt like my technician never even acknowledged I was there. Certainly not the most relaxing treatment I've ever gotten. My SIL and her mom said the pedi was great and the hot stone massage was luxurious.
