Neither of us knew what we were doing, and by the end of it, we had made salt and pepper shakers and a little clay lamp! Absolutely great place for art and a must-stop. If you're vacationing like we were, make sure you will still be in San Diego to get your piece later as it takes a few days for them to get everything fired in the kiln.

For the class we got to practice on some paper before jumping into our pillow case that we got to pick out a fan pattern and take home! I will be returning back for the part 2 of this class! She as brought home great pieces of art and the lessons she learned stuck because the drawings at home and school are impressive for an 8 year old ( maybe a bit biased, but they are way better than I could do!). I appreciate that they teach not only drawing but used different mediums such as water colors, oil pastels, and colored pencils. Monart is also offered at her school for after school programs. It's been very popular and another great addition to her school curriculum. I can't write enough good things about Mozart. From the kind, patient and helpful staff to the ace instruction they provide to the kids. The location and classroom is a safe space filled with happy children learning to express their creativity while having fun!

So.... We immediately made a reservation for a class and got a private class 2 weeks later. And here we are... The class was so fun! We started with a clump of clay and ended up with wonderful, functional, and pieces of art. Our teacher, Leah, was a great teacher! She was patient and explained everything! She had the perfect balance of teaching and then letting us work the clay a little of our own way. She kept us on track so we actually made 2 very unique pots. Very unique is my way of saying crooked and lopsided but lots of character. Lol We had a solid hour and got to work a few different pieces. For the price and friendliness and fun, I suggest this class for beginners or any level really. Oh! And check out the awesome pottery for sale! Leah is an amazing artist with some very nice pieces for sale.

She provides information in under six weeks and moves at your own pace. You learn more techniques in her course than in any semester-long college class. Plus the studio is super cute and there's a lot of pretty calligraphy supplies for sale. She does wedding calligraphy which is how I first found her but if you just want get the vibe at the creative friday hangout (free with rsvp) I highly recommend it! I did lowercase modern calligraphy for beginners and I can't wait to do uppercase!

Which resulted in the playground being loaded with children and families having fun and relaxing in the cool breeze. There are ton of play activities for the kids: blue climbing mountain with slides, cool spaceship looking merry go rounds, swings, climbing, obstacle courses, etc. There are tons of tables, benches, and lots of shady areas for picnics or relaxing while the kids play. It was awesome to find this playground ride down the road from where we were staying. Too bad this is our last full day in San Diego.

The dog area may not have grass, but it has dirt, and is usually kept clean. I actually prefer the dirt compared to artificial turf. Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

This is more based on the dog park that's on the same lot as the Children's Park. This one uses…read moreturf, which i find has it's benefits on the days after a rainstorm since it doesn't get muddy. There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

The park is gated and safe for kids. Our son loved the playground. The park is across from The Children's Museum. They also have public bathrooms available with security. The park was nice and clean. One thing I noticed is that I haven't really seen any lifeguards around, so if you don't know how to swim, I wouldn't recommend climbing down into the water. I also see a lot of people walking their dogs here, which is something I personally like. Between the ocean views, the sunset, and all the people out enjoying the outdoors, it's just a nice place to spend part of the day.

After the SD Writers Festival and then grabbing a slice and a beer on the main strip, I strolled over here to enjoy the last rays of the day. It is just gorgeous and breathtaking. I sat far back today, sitting on some rocks, ear buds in listening to my favorite playlist and just meditating while Mother Nature put on her beautiful sunset show for us. Great spot to take visiting family and friends who want to get a taste of San Diego. They also get to experience the Coronado Bridge if you are driving over there. Highly recommend visiting if you get a chance.
