I was excited to take me my out of town guests to unique shops in Carmel. A manager persuaded my friend to purchase some boots telling her it would stretch and conform to her feet. My friend wore the shoes briefly but immediately got painful blisters. They hurt even more when she walked in our home. When she tried to return / exchange them, the manager gave her the worst attitude and talked about having to take a loss! This is definitely not the appropriate behavior of a shop in an upscale shopping area. I don't recommend them at all. Well I finally got the boots I ordered in the right size in September. It took 4 months instead of 6 weeks and one return. I do have to say the boots are great and I enjoy wearing them. I get compliments on them every time I wear them. read more

Artemis has lovely boots. Unfortunately, this is hands-down the worst experience I've ever had ordering...well anything. Fascinated by the lovely colors of Artemis boots (and sad that a pair of shoes I had purchased there two years earlier had fallen apart at the seams), I ordered a pair of custom boots while in Carmel in early May. I finally received the boots yesterday, on January 21st. Of the following year. That's right. 8 MONTHS for an order that I was promised in 8 weeks. I have probably tried to contact Artemis more than 20 times in the intervening months, and I have never received a satisfactory answer. They never called me back, so I'd have to call until someone picked up, and then be given a vague answer about them needing to go to Turkey to find my boots. Or I'd they'd tell me, "We're just unpacking a box now. They're probably in here. I'll call back in 20 minutes." (Never to be called back.) About 5 months in, the woman who sold me the boots offered to send me a pair off the shelf to expedite. (Despite the fact that I was sold on custom boots during my initial visit, since their measuring process put me in a specific size of boot they didn't carry.) She sent me pictures of lovely flat, round-toe boots to pick from, though I ultimately opted to wait for the custom ones I ordered-- which I was assured should be ready "any day." Yesterday, when I received them, I received high-heel cowboy style boots. So in the end, I don't even think I got the right style of boots. (I honestly can't remember-- it's been the better part of a year.) Either that, or she was going to send me the wrong pair back in September. When I really wanted my fall boots. Was the custom fit worth it? Not really. They're narrow in the foot, and I have about 2 extra inches in the calf. I don't even care anymore. Since I paid in full for the boots back in May, I just want to be done with this project, and have something to show for my money. For custom boots, they're not terribly expensive-- but if I had invested my money for the past 8 months, I could have purchased 3 pair. If you fall in love with these boots, just find a pair on the rack and make them work. The custom order isn't worth the time, and they won't fit any better anyway. read more

My girlfriend purchased a pair of $400 boots and tried to return them the next day - they were never worn. The owner refused to take them back. Beware of off market return policies at this place. read more

I am extremely disappointed with this store. I was in the store in September of 2012 and was to,d that my custom boots would arrive in a coupe weeks. Well, they arrived weeks later. I sent the store several emails with no response. Finally, had to call them directly only to get a voicemail. I did get a phone call back but very disappointed to find out that my boots would not arrive on time. read more

I purchased my first pair of Artemis boots approximately 5 years ago. I am now the proud owner of at least 7 pairs of these beautiful boots. The quality and comfort cannot be compared. I can wear these boots all day with comfort. I continue to receive compliments every time I wear the boots. I recently added a beautiful leather coat from Artemis that is stunning. I look forward to visiting Artemis every time I go to Carmel. Sarah and Erkan are lovely and a joy to work with! Never purchased anything here but as a child growing up in the area I was always amazed by the products and colors beaming from the window in the Doud Gallery. Fast forward 20 some years... still in awe with all the colorful and vibrant feel-good hues and goods. I've seen pillows that I could see decorating our couch or any old plain dull couch as it would give life and character. Boots galore and a lot of fun for any out of the norm house or you can find something for a friend that has anything. Next time yo are in the gallery stop by or at least peer through the windows while you are grabbing a bite to eat at Carmel Belle! read more

Caveat emptor!! I ordered boots which came in the mail about 2 months later. I ordered grey leather: they sent black; The arch was absolutely ridiculous, I could not walk in them; I paid $400.00 on 16 December. A couple years ago I bought a beautiful leather jacket here. I have worn probably about 15-20 times total and the leather ripped around the pocket area, not on the seam. It wasn't pulled on, I'm not sure how it happened but clearly is a flaw in quality and I spent over $500 for it. I took it back thinking they'd stand behind their work and was offered nothing more than a discount for my purchase of a new jacket. Not sure why I'd buy anything else from them when the quality was so low. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from them. On a recent trip to Carmel I bumped into Artemis Boots. I was drawn in by all the colorful and unique shoes. I walked out with a pair of boots and a custom pair of heels. I now have both in my possession and they are incredbile. I always get compliments when I wear them...people literally have stopped in the road to tell me how cool my shoes are. They are the most comfortable shoes I've worn (besides sneakers) and I'm not accustomed to wearing heels. They are super unique and I'm eyeing a pair of flats. I had been eyeing these boots for a year and finally decided I just had to have a pair. I fell in love the design worn by the woman in the store, so she took pictures of them, said she would have them specially made and that it would take 4 weeks. At 4 weeks I called and was told they had been shipped and would arrive any day. Two days later, I received a call that they were in and volunteered to ship them to me. I picked them up a few days later and they were just as promised. They are BEAUTIFUL, exactly the design I had in mind, fit perfectly and are even comfortable! My husband and I enjoyed a 17 day coastal vacation last month. From Los Angeles to half Moon Bay. I had no need for shopping as the coast, the view, the wineries provided extreme happiness. Until I walked into Artemis Boot shop! Honestly, I felt like I was in shoe heaven! My sales girl was new but she exhausted herself wanting to please. I have horrible back pain and can no longer wear heels so she called the shoe maker who arrived in 5 minutes, to help me. I have never in my life been experienced 5* treatment in a shoe store of any kind until this moment. Then the price of the boot was explained and my husband looks at me like HE NOW WANTS A PAIR,TOO. My son took me to the Artemis Boot shop in Carmel. Although I prefer Western Boots, as I live in them. The thrill of difference made me order a custom pair as my calves aren't small. The colors are amazing, Erkan Demir came and made more than I expected. I wear them to work and out everyone pays compliments, I carry the card I got from the shop and tell everyone they too can have a pair or two. I treat them like I do my best shoes and don't abuse them. They will last me a life time, and give me wonderful wardrobe accents. I can't love them enough. I bought flats also, now all I need are heels. I give five stars but the cowgirl in me wants to give five times infinity. read more
