Great Native milkweed nursery! Have made several trips to this nursery for my hungry monarch caterpillars. Appreciate the fact this is one of the few nurseries in LA county that sell the native milkweeds. We were looking for a particular California-native plant--Hummingbird Sage. My online search pointed us to one of the few places in Los Angeles that carried it. When we got to the fairly industrial-looking neighborhood of Artemisia we were surprised at its small footprint. But we were equally delighted with the assortment of native plants and the friendly, knowledgeable service we got. We picked up three plants (pictured). So far, all seem to be happy. You'll drive right by Artemisia the first time you visit, but the "hunt" for the entrance is worth it. The plants are very healthy and take to their new surroundings when planted. Thank you SO much for coming to my rescue yesterday--I realized that my caterpillar only had a few leaves left to eat on my one and only milkweed plant, so I needed to hurry and buy a few more plants! I was in a panic, but I remembered that a FB group that I belong to had previously recommended Artemisia Nursery to it's members, especially because they had native milkweed. I rushed over there and sure enough, they had native milkweed, so I bought three plants. Since this was my first experience with growing milkweed, I had a million questions about Monarch butterflies, caterpillars, milkweed, etc. They were SO helpful, and answered all of my questions. I definitely plan on going back when I'm not in such a rush. They have a nice selection of plants, and even have some clay pots/saucers. While we were there, we also saw a Monarch butterfly drifting from one milkweed plant to another, and I was told that she was probably laying her eggs on the leaves--what a wonderful experience! I highly recommend this nursery, and I also love being able to support a small, local business, over one of the big, chain nurseries! read more

I was finally out that way NOT on a Monday(they're closed on Mon). As a professional gardener I have been to MANY nurseries. This one is tiny and quaint. The owner was knowledgeable and helpful. They had mostly succulents, herbs & veggies, CA natives and houseplants. The place was super tidy and everything well labeled. As a plantaholic I am always looking for something unusual. I just had the most wonderful experience at this nursery! It all started early this week when I saw the sign as I was driving towards the 710 entrance to get to work, my usual morning routine. My husband and I decided to check it out today and we completely fell in love with both the service and beautiful selections they have! I go to many SoCal native plant nurseries but make occasional trips to Artemisia because they will often stock gems that I can't find elsewhere, such as the Davis Gold Toyon and Alpine Heucheras, and a California Black Walnut tree.
