They're quite old, and I was worried about where to take them as they are precious to me. I took them to the right place!! The ring has multiple opals, one of which is broken. I knew sizing that up was going to be tricky. Opals are soft and will break easily. Any time you size you have to worry about loosening stones. They gave me the option to do the sizing first and see how the broken opal held up. I was knocked out with how fast everything was done, and to have my grandmother's ring on my finger is priceless to me. This ring has been through hell and back over the years. The side chip used to be a ruby, that fell out and has been replaced with an amethyst now a third time! My one amethyst shattered and the other one sheared off at the sides. The band has been broken at least three times. Chiccarine's is my go to jewelry store for repairs. They assisted me in strengthening the band of my wedding set and even resized it. I'm a size 4.75 and I've never been a size 4 in ANYTHING! To replace the diamond with a mediocre diamond about the same size I believe it was in the neighborhood of around 1500+ the 300 for a whole new crown. I could have gotten an imitation diamond, known as moisonite for around 500. Mike showed me an example of it, it was beautiful but I opted for a natural garnet. I asked Mike about changing the cut into a heart shape. At first he didn't think it would work then he suggested to put the heart on its side. Genius!! The price to get a new crown, garnet and have the amethyst replaced was under 200$ and that's about what I wanted to invest. It was helpful because he had a heart shaped garnet so I could see what the ring might look like. They said it was not normal wear and tear and I had to pay for the repair. I also had to pay to have it polished and cleaned. The repair was not a clean repair. You could see with a naked eye where they repaired it. Fast forward 5 weeks later, another prong snaps and there is a weak spot in another. I took it to my hometown jeweler, and he said it was not repaired properly, and it looked like 2 of the prongs had dents in them causing weak points. This ring is not a high quality made ring. I had to spend unnecessary money to have it fixed when it should be covered. I only wear this ring a few hours a day at a desk job. Should not be snapping prongs. The service was not great. The older blonde woman with a foreign accent was rude. I also was trying to find a band to match, and she did not seem to want to help. We will not be doing business there again.

Called Koehler's to inquire about pricing for watch battery replacement and adding links. They…read moreinformed me that both jobs were $15 each and that if I came by they could do them on the spot. I needed the watch done by Friday, so I went right over. The store wasn't very busy when I walked in around 11am on a Tuesday, but they got more busy as I was there. Someone immediately went to retrieve Jim, who seems to be the resident watch repair expert. I shared with Jim a little background about how I inherited the watch, what I needed done, and why I needed it done. He immediately started working on it. After about 15-20 minutes it had a new battery and the right amount of links added to get it to fit my wrist. When I asked where I could pay, Jim told me it was on the house. I was not expecting that at all, but it was obviously greatly appreciated. I guess that's the kind of personal touch and service you get from a family run business who view you as a neighbor and not just a customer.
