I reached out to artillery ink in the beginning of March to get a tattoo. My tattoo artist was Cam I came in for a consult and met with him and spoke for about two minutes and then I was told that he would reach out to me later. His wife is the one who replies to everybody who works with him. I followed up with a week and asked if there was any update and she said there was none he was still working on it. Then I reached out the next week, the next week and the next week and she always says that he was still working on it. I have not Heard anything back and it's almost end of may.... poor customer service. Can't even follow up with customers weekly. I get if you're busy but damn have the courtesy to reach back out to your customers... read more

This place is fantastic and is my new go-to tattoo shop. The vibes all around are great, friendly and welcoming. First impression, the lighting - nice and bright, environment is open yet comfortable. The overall feel of the space is clean, sterile and professional. The artist are friendly and communicate well. Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles and pointed to the right direction. Our artist for the evening (with appointment) introduces himself to us while also preparing his set up for his client before. I personally loved that he took a few seconds to acknowledge us and let us know where he was at and what to expect. Piercer was super helpful and told me about how titanium is the most reliable for my piercing and put the No-Pull ring on my Tragus to stop it from pulling. I came in on Friday for an appointment with Rez. I had planned on getting a generic "adopt/rescue" tattoo with paw prints since my husband and I adopted 2 dogs this year. I had previously talked to Rez about him doing portraits of my dogs, but later changed my mind because I couldn't get a good close up shot of one of my dogs. While Rez was getting everything ready he pulled up the picture I had sent him of the first dog we adopted, and said how he would have loved to do his portrait since he specializes in realism and black and gray. After I thought about it I decided to go for it and Rez went to work tracing the picture. A couple hours later and I had a perfect picture of my dog that will be with me forever. Rez is the best at what he does and always exceeds my expectations. He did my first tattoo and even though I tried a couple of other artists, no one can beat Rez's work. I plan to come back eventually and get my other dog's portrait done by Rez. Not only is Rez a great artist but he is a great guy and I have enjoyed getting to know him since my tattoo obsession began earlier this year. My sister and I came to ARTillery Ink on Sunday, March 18th 2018 for a "sisters" tattoo. Here's some feedback about our experience. Facility: Clean, well-organized, open space. Waiting area is not terribly comfortable, so I would not advise bringing a group with you to wait for you to be done. My sister and I brought our husbands, and I wish I had let them stay home during the tattoos so that they did not have to sit on an uncomfortable bench for 2 hours. If you're looking for this to be a "family affair", consider bringing a cushion. Prep: We scheduled an appointment with Hunter in advance, and gave him pictures of what we were thinking for the tattoos. He brought us to the back with the computer to finalize the designs. My design had not changed from when we texted to request the quote. Hers did, so hers took some more time to develop. He also had us sign some paperwork, but didn't seem clear about the procedures on the paperwork. For instance, the paperwork asks you to sign verifying that you received a printout with "aftercare" instructions. I asked if he was going to give that to me before the tattoo, and he seemed confused about it, and said something along the lines of "I don't write those rules, they're old, I don't know anything about them". He went over some aftercare instructions, and I felt comfortable enough with them so I signed the paper in full confidence, but if you feel weird about that, think before you sign. His workspace was clean, the "chair" was reasonably comfortable (I think it was a massage chair), and he made sure I liked the placement of the stencil before he proceeded with the tattoo. NOTE: he made no statement about the placement of my tattoo being a bad placement. Actual tattoo: He was very light handed, honestly it was mildly annoying during the process. The next day there was no redness, swelling, or pain. He was quick, and his "gun" was nice and quiet, which eased my anxiety a lot. "Aftercare": Hunter made sure to tell me how long to keep on the wrap, what to wash it with, and how to protect it. I followed these directions exactly. Check-Out: Here's where my first "beef" is with Hunter. When my sister texted for a quote on both of our tattoos, we were quoted one price. I won't list here. My tattoo was exactly what I requested via text, but he charged me 20% more at checkout. My sister's tattoo was even more than that, which I wouldn't have had a problem with, but before we started she clarified that it would be the "same price" and he said yes, so we thought we were both paying the quoted price. In the end, I paid the bill without complaint because (a) it was her birthday, and (b) I honestly and truly believed at the time that the work he did for us was worth what we paid, even more. I tipped on top of the price increase, of course. My issue is NOT AT ALL with the price we paid. Not at all. I want to make that clear. Art is art, and this art is forever, so I would NEVER ask an artist to discount their rates for me. As an artist myself I know how much work and soul goes into each piece you create. HOWEVER-- it is poor business practice to, without warning, change the price once the "product" has already been consumed. That would be like going to a restaurant and seeing that a slice of lasagna is $10 on the menu, and you eat it, and then the restaurant charges you $20. Maybe it's the most FANTASTIC lasagna on the planet, but you still (as the customer) are owed the ability to make an informed decision of consent before you take the "product". My sister tried to talk to Hunter about it, and I'm not sure that he understood that we were NOT trying to say that his art wasn't worth what we paid. He got defensive and upset. He was unprofessional and rude. Perhaps this is due to his youth? This portion of the Yelp review wouldn't even be here if we had confronted him about it and he had said "Oh I forgot that was what I quoted you, my bad!" or something like that. Instead he was rude and defensive. SO-- make 100% certain that you both are on the same page in terms of the price you're paying UPDATE 4/21/18: There were some issues with my tattoo after the fact. The owners of the shop reached out to me and were incredibly professional and kind. They fixed the tattoo, and apologized for the unprofessional behavior of their young artist. I will post an updated picture when the tattoo heals, but so far, it looks so much better and more even than before when Hunter did it. The owners of this shop are very professional and stand by their work. If there is a problem they will work with you to fix it, and I respect that level of commitment to the art and the business. He texted me the day before and told me he was going out of town and asked to reschedule. I came and got my nipples pierced here as a spontaneous thing to do with my friend. No nipple clamps or anything, paid $75 as I walked out the door and thought that would be the end of it. Little did I know, I would have to return a couple weeks later with swollen nipples that are starting to reject & have to pay for them to put in larger jewelry (that should have been used initially). When I was brought in, the man (who wasn't my original piercer) asked me "Wow, where'd you get them done?" ..... Definitely not something you want to hear, especially when you're already nervous. I had talked to my original piercer ahead of time, and he never mentioned paying for anything. He said I could come to the shop and he'd check it out, I figured that's the least he could do since he was the one who fucked up, not me. Whatever I guess. I went on Mother's Day to get matching tattoos with my mom. We did a walk in and it was not very busy and they took us right away. It was very spacious, bright, and opening. There was a tv and it was nice to watch something while getting a tattoo. It had plenty of space for my family to be there as well. It was my first tattoo and I had Ramon. He talked me through it and was very information and helpful. It helped that he was, it made me a lot less nervous about it. It was fun talking to him and the tattoo came out amazing.
