While enjoying a busy, hot summer festival day at Pewaukee's lakeside, our group of three couples walked into the perfectly chilled Artisan 179 for a late lunch and a cool drink. We were surprised to be seated immediately and grateful for the offering of iced water! Shortly, our refreshing Watermelon Sangrias arrived, followed by a variety of appetizers, including an enormous and delicious dish of roasted brussel sprouts, which even Todd, who detests brussel sprouts, tried and loved! Each plate was nicely presented, and the food was tasteful and plentiful. Amazing local up scale bistro. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are delightful. Special occasion, date night, or friends...this is the place! They are great about including floral deliveries or outside wines (corking fee) ahead of your reservation so you can surprise your special person. read more

It's a little pricey but the food was pretty good so I won't complain. I really like the vibe of this place - cozy and eclectic. It's right on the pewaukee lake so you're provided with nice views. First off we walked in at 5 pm on a Monday and were immediately taken to our table. The waitress mckayla was wonderful. I ordered the chicken Cesar salad and a jalapeño margarita. My margarita was amazing, but I would say my chicken Cesar salad was very small. For my two things and a salmon dinner the total was $100. Very expensive, but a cute date night place. They have a fire place too which was nice. It is very very loud so i would avoid if you have a big group. read more

Our group of 10 ladies had an 11:30 lunch reservation. We had asked when making the reservation, if they would do individual checks and were told yes. The young waitress said no. We explained that over the phone the answer to the question had been yes. She got the manager, who gave us a very emphatic NO. She said they would do four checks . . . .guess that would have been two groups of three, and two groups of two. However instead of grouping the orders, the waitress just went around the group, and we ended up with one bill and one total. Tax was added, as was a mandatory 20% tip. It was nearly impossible to tell what each person owed! Amounts were not specified. As for the tip.........I did not wish to contribute a tip. Food was OK, but nothing special and high priced. The problem really started when the waitress brought our food. She had no idea who ordered what, and where the food was to go. My sandwich went to another lady. She handled it and cut it in half. When the waitress figured it out, she said, "Well this is OK isn't it?" I said no, but the plate was put in front of me anyway. I asked if it was half price, and she laughed. When it came to paying, I told the waitress I wished to pay just for mine, and not contribute to the big bill. I gave her enough to pay for my order and the tax. She took it, but returned, saying I had not given her enough money to pay my bill. They demanded more to cover the mandatory 20% tip. Here I always thought one tipped for good service. At Artisan 179, just figure prices are twenty percent over the listed price! read more

Our family hosted a rehearsal dinner this past Friday evening at Artisan 179. If you have any kind of event upcoming... birthday, graduation, retirement, wedding, etc... you will not find a better event space than Artisan 179. We arranged this event from a distance. Call Katrina! She is the most amazing, wonderful and helpful person. She made everything perfect. We would not have been able to host such an event without her expertise. She could not have been more patient and kind. In addition, if your event includes the need for a bartender, we highly recommend Ryan. He is an outstanding bartender. We heard nothing but rave reviews from our guests about the food. The banquet menu is stacked with delicious options. Best wishes to our new friends at Artisan 179. Started with cocktails...smoke infused manhattan was excellent and the presentation was over the top impressive. Next appetizers, dumplings with peanut sauce, tempera cauliflower and popcorn with truffle salt were all delicious with generous portions. Main entrees were delicious and beautifully presented. I had the salmon and will definitely go back and enjoy it again, the short ribs were so tender they fell apart. Lastly deserts, rumchata bread pudding and a chocolate box filled with yummy cream. Great little spot with a good view of the lake if you sit outside. It was a hot day but there are plenty of umbrellas outside to provide shade. Our waitress was really nice and recommended drinks that were tasty. We just got a cheese plate to share for a midday snack and it was tasty but could have been better. I'm not a cheese expert but it seemed like there was 2 medium and 1 hard cheese and no soft cheese which is my favorite. The fresh honey was awesome, though. read more

We had reservations, arrived on time and was led to a table sandwiched between 2 other crowded tables and asked to be relocated. The hostess refused to give us an empty unreserved table since it sat 4 and there was only 2 of us. We did get another table in a corner but unfortunately the man seated 4 feet away was loud and obnoxious. Our server was polite, attentive and friendly. We ordered a charcuterie board and appetizer with our drinks. Our food came out promptly and everything was delicious. Our server wasn't sure what all the items on the board was but we figured it out. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat, this is not it. If you are looking for a place with good food and a great view of the lake, this is a good choice. read more

A two plus? We got take out for date night. We asked for it to be ready at 7:00- didn't walk out until 7:15. ( I was late- but it should've been ready, right?). Not one customer was wearing a mask- most of the staff was. As for the food, the salads are very large and yummy- everything else is meh. The carpaccio was the best of what we ordered, but the serving size was minuscule. I have enjoyed my visits previously- their take out just doesn't deliver( ha). The service was terrific; the atmosphere and location were excellent , but the food was a mixed bag. While my dinner was very tasty, (we had corn chowder soup and split the Red Snapper) our friends' dinner was a series of disappointments. They didn't care for the raw brussels sprouts salad and sent it back for the fried brussels sprouts with pine nuts and honey. That was ok. but not a big winner. Their Chilean Sea Bass came in a thick brown sauce with what appeared to be bok choy on the side. Not a favorite! Next time, we will just have cocktails and a burger and sit outside wearing hats as the setting sun is very bright and hot. read more

Artisan 179 is my new favorite restaurant. Went for my birthday dinner and it was amazing! We ordered the Salmon and added scallops, along with the Cajun Pacifico Striped Bass and added gulf shrimp. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Sachet. Everything was perfect and super tasty. Service and atmosphere was great and live music during dinner was enjoyable. Just finished a birthday dinner here! I have always enjoyed coming here. Tonight was awful!! We're seated right by the door and musician! The girl brings us waters and dumps an entire glass of water in my lap! I am soaked!! We just sat down and my pants are soaked through and I'm sitting in a puddle of water! I try and get the dripping water out of my pants in the bathroom. They didn't give us a new, dry tablecloth, they just put a napkin over the wet tablecloth. The owner/manager comes over and all he says is "sorry that happened, it wasn't done with malice." That's it and walks away. He never offered anything, nothing, just walked away and never checked on us again. Horrible birthday experience here!! Ruined my night! He has absolutely no customer service when really needed. He's great at chatting up his friends though. He does not care about the customers enjoyment. Just pay the bill!! read more

Great place to meet up! Decided to go on on a double date with my sister and husband and this was the perfect place! We decided to try this place out on a Friday night. I definitely suggest making reservations the place was hopping! We arrived around 7 PM at our reservation time and we're sat immediately. Atmosphere is loud and social. They offer a great variety of craft cocktails which I enjoyed many! They have a great menu with lots of options from appetizers, small plates, soup and salads two main entrées. We started off with a charcuterie board which was delicious! I decided to get the pork chop entrée which was excellent. My boyfriend along with my sister and her husband enjoyed their meals as well!
