We had reservations, arrived on time and was led to a table sandwiched between 2 other crowded tables and asked to be relocated. The hostess refused to give us an empty unreserved table since it sat 4 and there was only 2 of us. We did get another table in a corner but unfortunately the man seated 4 feet away was loud and obnoxious. Our server was polite, attentive and friendly. We ordered a charcuterie board and appetizer with our drinks. Our food came out promptly and everything was delicious. Our server wasn't sure what all the items on the board was but we figured it out. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat, this is not it. If you are looking for a place with good food and a great view of the lake, this is a good choice. read more

Great place to meet up! Decided to go on on a double date with my sister and husband and this was the perfect place! We decided to try this place out on a Friday night. I definitely suggest making reservations the place was hopping! We arrived around 7 PM at our reservation time and we're sat immediately. Atmosphere is loud and social. They offer a great variety of craft cocktails which I enjoyed many! They have a great menu with lots of options from appetizers, small plates, soup and salads two main entrées. We started off with a charcuterie board which was delicious! I decided to get the pork chop entrée which was excellent. My boyfriend along with my sister and her husband enjoyed their meals as well! The service was terrific; the atmosphere and location were excellent , but the food was a mixed bag. While my dinner was very tasty, (we had corn chowder soup and split the Red Snapper) our friends' dinner was a series of disappointments. They didn't care for the raw brussels sprouts salad and sent it back for the fried brussels sprouts with pine nuts and honey. That was ok. but not a big winner. Their Chilean Sea Bass came in a thick brown sauce with what appeared to be bok choy on the side. Not a favorite! Next time, we will just have cocktails and a burger and sit outside wearing hats as the setting sun is very bright and hot. read more

Artisan 179 is my new favorite restaurant. Went for my birthday dinner and it was amazing! We ordered the Salmon and added scallops, along with the Cajun Pacifico Striped Bass and added gulf shrimp. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Sachet. Everything was perfect and super tasty. Service and atmosphere was great and live music during dinner was enjoyable. Just finished a birthday dinner here! I have always enjoyed coming here. Tonight was awful!! We're seated right by the door and musician! The girl brings us waters and dumps an entire glass of water in my lap! I am soaked!! We just sat down and my pants are soaked through and I'm sitting in a puddle of water! I try and get the dripping water out of my pants in the bathroom. They didn't give us a new, dry tablecloth, they just put a napkin over the wet tablecloth. The owner/manager comes over and all he says is "sorry that happened, it wasn't done with malice." That's it and walks away. He never offered anything, nothing, just walked away and never checked on us again. Horrible birthday experience here!! Ruined my night! He has absolutely no customer service when really needed. He's great at chatting up his friends though. He does not care about the customers enjoyment. Just pay the bill!! read more

Best meal and atmosphere. We had Nathan for a nice lunch visit. Had a bit of a 2pm wait for the best table facing the water. Had Brussels for an appetizer and purple haze to get my afternoon going. Went here with my girlfriend last night and was very dissatisfied. Our server was terrible. Luckily there was a different server that noticed and ended up helping out her name was Paris and if I ever go back which I won't I would ask for her. We got the Brussels sprouts they were blah. We got the short ribs they came out cold. We got the meatballs with burrata also came out not hot and the meatballs tasted like left overs that were reheated. The bang bang shrimp was ehh. The crab cakes were the worst we've ever had also tasted like leftovers reheated. The charcuterie board was the highlight for sure as was the bread pudding. For 250$ no drinks I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

I have been very up and down with this place. I find myself there every so often when hanging with family that live in Delafield. But the last couple times it's been much more down than up. I think the inconsistency is easy to explain. It feels like every other time I go there, it's a different chef's name at the bottom of the menu. I have no idea why that's the case, but it's a bit of a red flag. The service here is very casual. Think Applebee's but at a restaurant with triple the prices. "How are you guys doin'?" is common at a table with multiple women. On more than one occasion I've gone to the bathroom and seen servers eating from basically a small buffet where they enter the orders into the computer. It's very unsanitary in addition to being unprofessional. On the topic of unprofessional, many staff wear perfume and cologne and *do not* hold back. Is this a nightclub? It's very off-putting when I'm trying to enjoy an expensive meal. My most recent meal here with the current chef was just lunch but it was certainly disappointing. Does "just lunch" apply when the burger is $18 with frozen fries? When I read the menu, I envisioned a Big Mac on steroids. What I got was what I now call the Airburger. Check out the picture. By the time it got to me, the overmelted cheese had solidified. There were two itty-bitty patties that were shingled on each other to give the appearance of a real burger. Lettuce was limited to a few shreds. The buns are separated by 2" but nothing touches either of them. Just air. The pale blond fries were an interesting touch. I also noticed that their menu says they have heirloom tomatoes from a local farm. In early June? The owner must think his customers are stupid, because that's impossible in Wisconsin. I wonder if the farmer even knows that tomatoes from South America are being sold as his! read more

Some say the third time's a charm, but I will be honest with you and tell you Artisan 179 got it right and had the charm and sparkle the second time around. If you read my previous post/ review, you'll know that the Valentine's Day experience wasn't the greatest. I never thought in a million years that this restaurant owner (Ted) would respond with such promptness and concern over making the situation right. Initially when I walked out of that restaurant ( on Valentine's Day) I had no intentions of ever going back. Ted changed both my mind and my perspective. He reached out to me the day after Valentine's Day and we chatted he was sincerely apologetic about what had happened and when I looked at it from his point of view; there was a bit of miscommunication. I didn't feel the need to be rude and make a scene that night because there were other patrons in the restaurant enjoying their meals. Ted thought that this meant everything was okay, which I get and I understand how it must have looked and felt to him. I returned to the restaurant last night Saturday the 2nd of March and was greeted by Ted and of course the wonderful Bryce as a server. The experience was a complete 180 when compared to Valentine's Day and I was in awe. At some point Ted sat down with me and we talked about everything that had happened and I could see that he's so sincere about customer service and so passionate about this restaurant that he has worked so hard to build that there wasn't a doubt in my mind this is a man who truly cares. His passion for the restaurant business is in his blood and when he moved over to Wisconsin after 9/11 and a lifetime living in New York (working in restaurants both there and here), this was the chance for him to offer a unique dining experience based on his vision. Bryce my server had told me that Ted gave him a chance to work there when he was 18 and now he was 21 and he couldn't have been more proud to have this amazing job he loves. I also met the chef who was very, very sweet, she actually apologized for the Valentine's Day meal and then produced the most amazing culinary journey of the evening. Ted's beautiful wife and friends were also at the restaurant that night having a girl's night and were very warm-hearted, their infectious laughter could be heard across the room ( you could tell they were really enjoying their evening together). Collectively as I looked around the restaurant and saw so many people smiling and enjoying the wonderful meals that were presented and the staff members that were so attentive to all their tables, this is truly a collaborative effort by a team that is a family. In business (especially the restaurant business) not everything can be perfect all the time, but when someone, (Ted) takes the time to rectify a situation and show you the difference; you can't help but to want to contribute to their business and help it grow. I will definitely be returning to the restaurant and bringing friends and clients there. I saw the excitement in Ted's eyes as he awaits summer and has a chance to open the outdoor seating and the extended seating that he's so joylessly shared with me as we talked. I also took some pictures of the amazing food of the evening including the wonderful cocktail that the bartender prepared. My husband and I stopped at Artisan 179 while visiting WI lake country this summer. When we arrived we were seated right away and decided to sit outside. It was the summer and quite hot, but we wanted to have a nice view of the lake. There were umbrella's at almost all of the tables which helped keep the area cool. Our server was very attentive and was easy to communicate with. I ordered a Beet Salad and found it to be delicious. We also tried the cauliflower app and really liked the sauce that came with it. Overall we had a wonderful experience and would definitely visit again if we were in the area. read more

First time here, lunch, had the smash burger and it was one of the best, if not THE best burgers I've ever had...amazing. Sloppy. Juicy. Oniony. Cheesy. We had a FABULOUS time celebrating our 4 year anniversary at Artisan. We're new to the area, so this was our first time here. We expected a more relaxed environment considering every night we walked past, that's what it seemed like! However, it was loud and kinda rowdy (which is definitely not a bad thing, just different than we expected). The place is small, so voices carry easily. But it was decorated very tastefully and it was so fricken cute! We started with drinks which were fabulous & mine even came with a show! The waitress lit my thyme on fire. The aromas from that were absolutely wonderful & the drink was great too. For our appetizer, we got the prosciutto wrapped shrimp. The shrimp were nice and plump. The sauce it came with was tangy and sweet (although the server took it away without asking if we were finished with it... and we weren't yet but it's fine) However, the appetizer itself just wasn't as tasty as I expected. The waitress then asked if we wanted the complimentary bread (um, yes please! always!!!). Honestly, my boyfriend and I thought the bread was almost better than the appetizer. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. The butter was easily spreadable. We could have ate that all night! Then we had our entrees.... WOW. I got the gnocchi (because they were out of the Cacio e Pepe, sadly) with scallops. I'm picky about my scallops. But these seemed similar to the U10 Diver Picked Scallops at a restaurant I use to work at. They were SO GOOD. The gnocchi was made perfectly as well. I had leftovers and they were JUST as good the next day. My boyfriend absolutely loved his fish and mashed cauliflower with lobster sauce too! The fish was cooked to perfection. The saffron rice wasn't our favorite, but the rest of the dish made up for it. Our server was also fantastic. We also saw people get some baby beers and forgot to ask what those were - so something we definitely have to come back for (; My only reasons for 4 stars instead of 5: 1. My boyfriend wanted to surprise me for our anniversary with a bottle of wine on our table already (this is something I have done for him in the past at different restaurants). He had the wine picked out, but the host said he'd have to wait to talk to the server. It was super disappointing mostly because I love being surprised We had an amazinggggg time all in all and cannot wait to be back! read more

Came here for a late reservation on a Saturday night. The maitre d was friendly and promptly showed us to our table. Where we sat. And sat. Without any service for about 25 minutes. Finally the maitre d noticed no one had waited on us and a waiter came and took our order. We had some bread and it was hot and tasty. We started with the burrata tart. I normally love burrata but somehow this was just meh. The burrata taste was overwhelmed with all the other ingredients, the tart, arugula, Aleppo pepper and basil balsamic glaze. This dish needs to be rethought so the burrata flavor is more forward. I asked the waiter what was better- the salmon or Branzino - and was enthusiastically told the Branzino. So I had that. The lady ordered the salmon so we got to sample each. I must say the salmon was far tastier and better then the Branzino. Somehow the Branzino got lost in its ingredients and had very little flavor. Another miss. We had a side of the truffle fries and they were pretty good. The waiter seemed sympathetic to our long initial wait and comped us the rumchatta bread pudding desert. Yum. Very tasty. The place had a pretty lively atmosphere and a good piano player/singer performing. After seeing the mostly very positive reviews for this place and wanting to come here for some time, I was surprised that the food was so mixed. Too bad. read more

I struggled rating this, but ultimately it's not worth the heavy prices. We came in for a reservation on Memorial Day weekend and although it was not packed when we got there at 5:30, it got pretty busy thereafter. Making a reservation is probably a good idea during the summer. It's right off of the water, which could be nice if the area wasn't completely packed with people. It was so busy, which is not my scene. But if you like the busyness of it all, then you'll enjoy it. Luckily there was parking behind the businesses, otherwise this would have been a nightmare. Waitresses are very nice. Drinks were absolutely delicious. My ex-wife got the 50 Shades martini and she loved it. We both got the Rosé sangria and this was delicious; not overly sweet either. I also bought the Pineapple Dream iced beverage, which was absolutely delicious! This drink was on the sweeter side, just a heads up. 4 drinks cost us $60. We ordered the tempera cauliflower app for the entire table. This app was definitely enough for the 6 of us. Although the cauliflower itself was tasty, breaded lightly and not greasy, the sauces were a huge miss for me. One of them was a Thai chili sauce and the other was a sweeter soy sauce. I thought they were god awful. I ate my bites of cauliflower plain. Not worth the price, IMO. We each got different small plates or entrees. One person got the Jerked pulled pork sandwich; he enjoyed it. One got the blackened shrimp; it was okay. Two got the scallops; good but not worth the money. Two got burgers, enjoyed, but meh. I was one of the ones who got the burger. I opted to get mine with a side salad. The truffle aioli, which is mayo mixed with white truffle oil, was delicious. I enjoyed my burger, but it was nothing special. Definitely worth the $25 that it cost. An entire meal for 6 people was $250. $42 per person was not worth it in the least. Again, servers were kind. One dropped a knife on me and although I did not get cut as a result, it definitely didn't tickle. We enjoyed our time together, which was important. But we won't be returning. read more

Artisan is getting a whole 2.5 stars from this foodie. My close girlfriend of mine and I decided we needed a girls night for risotto. Before we even received our food we listened to one of the waitresses explain to two bussers about how tips work and how paychecks work. Directly next to our table is not the appropriate place to have this kind of conversation. She even spoke about her wage. There seemed to be more staff then actual clients yet, there were staff sitting and talking. Including someone who seemed to be the manager explaining to a bartender how to make a drink while sitting and eating . We were not checked on often. The art on the walls are eclectic and for sale. The bar area was lovely. On to actual food. The risotto was amazing. The fresh veggies really made that dish. There were prefect salty notes with the breadcrumbs. The risotto had the perfect amount of creaminess. Risotto 5 out of 5. Now onto the issues. I ordered their gnocchi. They came out more like a dumpling then the heavenly pillows they should have. There was an excessive amount of saltiness to the dish. Picture hard dumplings then then licking a salt block. What hurts the most is the cost of this small dish...$30. It was everything in the dish. Maybe the waitress who explained how wages worked was salty due to the gnocchi. My girlfriend ordered the Caprese flatbread. Her flatbread tasted exactly like that...flat. There were tomato halves on the flatbread that were hard to eat. There were notes from the balsamic that made it decent. That being said the bread was extremely dry and crispy. VERY disappointed.. after waiting almost 40 minutes for apps the server came up to tell us the kitchen was slammed. Not only did our main course take almost 2 hours to get to our table. But it came cold, over salted, over cooked. The home made pasta was cold and clumped together.. I could cut a knife through the chunks of pasta. I couldn't finish eating my lobster, due to how much SALT came on top of it. I will say the server was sweet, obviously not his fault. The cocktails were very delicious as well. This place charges five star prices for two star food. At our table, both pasta entrees were lukewarm and way over salted. Like not fully edible. $26 for each. The apps, lobster lollipops and breaded cauliflower were pretty good, but pretty much just come with a sauce that is Pick n Save sweet and sour sauce, so I was not impressed. I can't imagine how much of a sucker you would have to be to order a steak here, they are almost $50! Service was slow, food was lukewarm, I ordered a soda and it was not refilled. What kind of place doesn't refill your drink? I guess if you are eating outside on the patio on a beautiful night, and you just eat apps and get cocktails, it could be a good experience. But we ate inside, where it was freezing cold, which might have been why we were not served hot entrees. In all honesty, I went over to Chocolate Factory after I refused to eat my gnocchi, and got a turkey sub with a small bowl of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. That was actually delicious. I can't wait to visit here during the summer months. The restaurant is located with a view of Pewaukee Lake with a few outdoor tables. I see myself sipping a drink and grabbing a nosh to eat. They have location and ambiance nailed! I got the Signature burger without bun and the side salad. I despise a salad made with just iceberg so they didn't disappoint with a salad with a variety of greens and fresh veggies plus homemade ranch dressing. Bottled dressing at restaurants is another pet peeve of mine so score two points for Artisan 179. The burger was cooked exactly as I ordered - medium rare. The blue cheese bacon mousse was an interesting touch. There were a couple of bites that were uneven with a little extra saltiness so I think a little better mix would have made this more even. The bourbon caramelized onions added another depth of flavor to their Signature burger. The service was a little slow otherwise I would have given them 5 stars. Our server was slow to take our order but once that was done the food came out in a reasonable time and our check was delivered quickly. This is 15 minutes from work so I won't be here every day but I can imagine bringing my work team here on a nice summer day. The food is great and farm to table as a bonus! Found this place because of a Yelp search of places to go for lunch in the area. Husband and I were doing some home decor shop at the cute local shops and decided it was time for lunch. This place is right across from the lake and it's super cute inside! Service was attentive and I loved the seasonal summer sangria. Mine had cucumbers and fresh strawberries in it. I ordered the gluten free pasta dish and it was flavorful & satisfying. The rumchata bread pudding we had for dessert- holy moly it was so good!! So thankful we live over 2+ hours away in the western suburbs of Illinois so I can't order this every weekend! This place is definitely worth putting on your foodie radar. read more
