Classy, upscale spot great for date night or celebrating something. Prices to match. Recommend making a reservation in advance, but my party did not and we were still able to be seated late during a mid-week evening. I went for the duck for my entree and it was nice. I really liked the accompanying vegetables and sauce and it was cooked nicely (I ordered it medium per chef recommendation). Service was friendly. Worth a try if you live nearby and want a nice dinner out.

I get to Elkhart about twice a year and always have to eat here. I have never had anything that wasn't fresh or delicious! We have always had good service but Missy is by far the best! She knows the food and listens to your likes and dislikes and doesn't stear you wrong in your meal, drink or dessert . She made the meal an experience. The ambience is classic and nice but some also also for a nice casual weeknight dinner. Definitely recommend

went to Artisan with my family for an early dinner and had a delightful experience. I ordered the filet mignon which was perfectly tender and flavorful. The crème brûlée is a must for dessert!! In addition, staff was very attentive. Special shout out to our server, Isabella, as well as Sam.

The food is average. There's little variety to choose from which is given on a fancy restaurant. Food takes a bit longer to serve. Drinks were too strong.

    Petit filet - perfection!

Excellent food, service, and decor. Pricey for the portion size in my opinion, but one of my favorites in town.

Onion Soup Gratinee - $11 - Needed salt and wasn't very flavorful. 2/5 stars. Chorizo and Shrimp - $22 - This was easily the best dish. Cooked well, good flavor, and a decent portion (probably because the price is so high). 4/5 stars. Chicken and Leek Puff Pastry - $26 - The pastry was lacking. It was soggy, weird taste to it, and just not pleasant. The filling was also mediocre. Don't get this. 0/5 stars. L'Entrecote de Paris (Steak Frites) - $45 - The steak was chewy, the fries were over salted. For $45, this was not enough steak, whatsoever. Not like it was a good cut either. It's a rip off. 0/5 stars. Pan Roasted Duck Breast - $36 - My mom and I both ordered this, and we could combine both of our dishes to make ONE duck breast. Portion was horribly small. Never have I ever been given HALF a duck breast. The sauce wasn't good either and it was broken. 2/5 stars cause the rest of it was cooked fine. The birthday dessert was a scoop of ice cream and some stale cinnamon pastry thing. This was wildly bad. If the flavors were on point, the prices would be understandable. But the flavors were bad, the prices are expensive, and we waited a very long time to get our food. We couldn't get into a different restaurant that night (it was a Saturday night on move in weekend), but this one we could get into, and now we know why. Don't go here.

I was short on time and money and felt a wee bit embarrassed to pick up my fancy 2-course lunch in a ratty t-shirt and jeans, but I was brave and strong and got through it the shame. I would like to dine-in here one day, looking nice and spiffy, to fully enjoy the vibes and have a nice date night with my honey. Finding a parking spot was tricky and annoying, even on a weekday, so be advised of that. So I can't speak too much on service with this visit nor how the drinks were (alcohol menu looks pretty nice), but I can talk about the food! So with the $19 restaurant week promotion, I could choose from a list of 5 starters and a list of 5 mains. I got the signature Navarre salad without the gorgonzola cheese and the white basalmic dressing on the side as my starter and the Waldorf chicken salad croissant with potato chips as my main. Chicken salad is a favorite of mine but I HATE when it is goopy and mushy. Gotta have that texture! So the to-go bag was quite light when I picked it up so my fat butt was worried I had paid twenty bucks for two bites of food. Nope! There was a decent amount of food inside. Let's start with the Navarre salad. Normally, this retails for $8. The produce was fresh and the candied walnuts were incredible. I do wish there were more green apples on it though. 8/10. Next, I gotta give a 10/10 to the fabulous potato chips. These were something special. Oh jeez, give me a whole bag of these tasty crispy slices of potatoes! Lastly, I gotta give only 7/10 to the chicken salad croissant. This originally sells for $17. Not a bad score at all, but yeah, this chicken salad was a bit too goopy for me. It tasted flavorful though and the locally-made croissant was great! Overall, I give Cafe Navarre 4.5 stars. I'm going to convince my boyfriend to take me here one day for a nice dinner date so we can try so fancier items on the menu! (But not too fancy - I don't want us blowing a paycheck on some $65 steak! I am a practical bougie lady!)

And we wanted somewhere nice, so didn't mind paying around $50 per dish, but the food just was nothing remarkable at all. I got the wagyu steak and she got some kind of fish. Mine was undercooked, but I'm not picky, so no big deal. But even after just having the dish at our table for a few minutes, they weren't warm anymore; just cooled to room temperature. It's like the plates had been sitting on a counter in the kitchen for 5-10 minutes before they got brought out to us. Our server was nice enough, but again for the price you're paying, you'd really expect a phenomenal experience. She was no more or less friendly than a server at Applebee's. My fiance had put on our reservation that it was our 1-year anniversary, so we thought at least somebody would say congratulations (as they do at other nice places in Kalamazoo), but it went completely unremarked upon. We didn't expect a free dessert or anything, but again, for what we paid for the meal, we expected them to at least mention the occasion. It's not a bad restaurant. But for what they're charging for food, you absolutely are not getting your money's worth.
