We rarely write Yelp reviews, but it is a distinct pleasure to share our experience dealing with Homely Upholstery, a genuinely professional, expert, and talented company. David and his father, Duc, came to our home to review our project of upholstering four parsons chairs. They listened to our concerns about the height of the seats and provided options and details on the cost for improving and strengthening the seating. Further, working with the paisley print of our material, they both took considerable time in detailing for us how each chair would have the paisley pattern precisely replicated on the front, back, seat, and skirt, suggesting for our approval the design and symmetry of the demanding paisley print. They pointed out that each piece of the kick-pleat skirt would be finished with a heavy linen backing so as to provide weight for the pleat to hang properly. Pick up and delivery of the finished chairs was included in the detailed written plan and cost for the project. As a final bonus, the project was completed earlier than the projected timeframe. The four parsons chairs are just beautiful - exquisitely upholstered! We cannot say enough about the professionalism of David and the personal care and artistic talent of his father, Duc. My mother needed some help upholstering some family heirloom furniture. She can do her own upholstering, but there were three pieces that required work. I knew that the person for the job needed to be someone she could trust with her treasures as well as someone who took pride in the details. Since I was hiring for my mom, I wanted someone who was kind and would treat my mom right. David was all of these things and then some. The moment I contacted him, he tried to fit in all three of my pieces. He knew I wanted them finished quickly and was willing to put pressure on himself to complete the job. He also inquired about pattern alignment, which reassured me that he knew his stuff AND he was willing to work with material that my mother had already purchased for the furniture. He reupholstered and foam fitted a couch and a butterfly wing chair. The third piece was a very old rocking chair. On this he completely took apart the seat and fixed it with new springs, batting, the works! The entire time, David was what you would expect from a professional of his craft and more. He was easy to communicate with, focused on the job, and willing to make things work better for the customer. He was also very kind and the finished products were as if they were brand new! I highly recommend Artisan Interiors! I have six dining chairs from the 1930s, that have been in my family for three generations. They were in bad condition and in need of reupholstering, but who could I trust to take them to? My daughter researched online and came up with a list of upholsterers in Sacramento to visit. Artisan Interiors was our first stop and proved to be exactly the business we were looking for. I was very impressed with David's excellent customer service. His level of professionalism, expertise and attention to detail were greatly appreciated. He was very thorough answering all our questions; showing us the materials to be used, as well as the workroom where the chairs were to be re-done. And we left with an itemized quote. I visited this business after hours because their listed hours say they are open 24/7. I expected at least basic professionalism, but instead, the owner came out aggressively, accusing me of trespassing. I calmly explained that I was just looking to inquire about services, but he continued to question why I was there, despite the misleading business hours. He told me to email for a consultation, which I started noting down -- only for him to begin recording me without any notice, saying he would be sending the footage to the police. This entire interaction felt hostile and discriminatory. I left feeling racially profiled and completely unwelcome. If you're considering doing business here, please be cautious. Based on my experience, it seems the owner has no interest in serving all members of the community and handles potential clients with suspicion and aggression rather than respect. I am very impressed with this business. I found them via a Yelp search and they were the first to respond. I sent them a picture of the midCentury Danish couch and chair and they gave me a reasonable estimate. When I visited their place- a home business- they were very professional, COVID conscious, and answered every question and more! Their fabric choices were good quality, their estimated time to finish was spot on and they even delivered. I really appreciated their evaluation of the furniture, describing what they found during the process, and even decreasing the final price because the padding was still in good shape. My pieces are antique and they really took great care- the pieces are like new! These folks run an honest business with great craftmanship. read more

I'm very pleased with the work that Artisan Interiors did for me - a challenging custom job where I needed waterproof cushion covers made for a new couch that I really wanted to protect. They found a fabric that very closely matched the rest of the couch, and everything was sewn so precisely. There are other details I appreciated as well - after the initial consultation they came out to my house to pick up the cushions and then returned them to my house - in a very timely fashion that fit my schedule. While it wasn't cheap, you get what you pay for, so I'd say this is good value, especially considering their work is protecting a couch that cost 3x as much as the cushion covers. This company is so good -- suggesting fabrics and colors to compliment the entire room. I had a seam that separated on my sectional recliner, between two separate types of material. It was about 3inches wide. Mr Doan and his son David came to my home and fixed the seam very quickly! Very nice job! Also gave me advice on what it would take to reupholster all my sectional pieces, due to animal damage. They were very honest and let me know it would cost more to upholster, than to replace the pieces. I very much appreciated their honesty and candor! That's rare and hard to find these days! My wife and I have a chair from the 50's that belonged to her grandmother, and then her mother. It used to be really nice but had gotten so worn, shabby and unstable it couldn't be used, and wasn't that great to look at either. David and Homely Upholstery are on another level and did a phenomenal job fully restoring this chair. Not only reupholstering it with some wonderful leather he helped us choose and then sourced. But he was able to repair the chairs frame and not only is it beautiful but it is quite comfortable. Homely was great! I had a tweed couch that was only 2 years old and the stitching on the seat cushion came apart (Kids and dogs dangit). I was concerned there might not be enough material to repair it, but David did a fantastic job and also reinforced the piping around the whole cushion to make sure nothing fails in the future. I'm sure their turnaround time will vary depending on the job and how busy they are, but in my case they turned it around same day! read more

Their work was excellent; they picked up and delivered the headboards and footboards; and even polished the oak.
