I heard about Homely Upholstery from a friend who had a piece done, and decided based on what I saw and my friend's impression of them to get a 30+ year old La-Z-Boy recliner reupholstered. Then we got a classic sofa we have reupholstered as well. We have been incredibly pleased with the results and would recommend them to anyone. From start to finish David with HU and his dad were absolute professionals. The recliner we had reupholstered looks stellar and is more comfortable to boot, thanks to them updating the foam in the chair. We had the recliner done prior to COVID-19, but everything was done via text message with David. You basically send him as many photos of your furniture as you can (all angles) and include detailed measurements. We supplied our own fabric from Benchmade Modern, dropped off said fabric along with the furniture, and let them work their magic. In just a few weeks, our recliner was ready to be picked up and we were floored (still are in fact) with how much better it looks and feels. David will go over with you what you're looking for, and has many different fabrics available if you can't supply your own. Our sofa was done just after the COVID-19 pandemic started, and we did the usually drop off of the sofa with our fabric. David and his dad dropped the couch off to us rather than having us pick it up once it was finished. They wore masks, as we did, and dropped the sofa just outside of our house for us to carry inside. We appreciate how seriously they're taking this pandemic. The sofa itself was a more complicated project, but they still got that done ahead of schedule. It, like our recliner, looks amazing and like a high-end furniture piece to us. Upholstering a furniture piece is not cheap, but if you are attached to a particular piece and would rather not buy new, I highly recommend you go with Homely Upholstery. This family owned business is quite friendly and responsive during the initial process. They also do fix issues per their agreement. However, 2 basic & excellent condition Room & Board chairs should not be returned, both with quality issues at this $3K price point. (I needed the fabric color changed to match a new sitting area). One issue I addressed and the other, I didn't want to be bothered with all of it. And in that friendly exchange to resolve it, the proprietor texted that they were once too tired to follow up as promised and then skipped three return slots that they arranged - all much later than the appointment time. What?! That's unacceptable. That's not how I do business on either end. I didn't complain- I wanted them to just do better... but they didn't. So depending on the level of service & quality you require, choose accordingly. Disappointingly, I would not use again. Specific issues: (chair 1) Fabric was not pulled tight to original form on both arms, causing literal points of space under upholstery and (chair 2) same issue but across the whole back top so it has a "wave" form now and "poofing " at seams that should be flat to left and right beneath seat cushion - it will be my reminder to shop around more carefully in the future. I found Homely Upholstery after purchasing a sofa on craigslist. I really only buy things on craigslist if I consider it to be a fantastic deal, and I was able to buy this sofa for less than 10% of what it cost new. The only flaws with the sofa were that the back cushions were sagging, there was a split seam, and a couple buttons on the ottoman were missing. Since this was the first time I've used an upholstery service I didn't quite know what to expect. I took to Yelp and started looking for the best reviewed businesses and googling around trying to find out about how much I should expect to pay for the repairs. I ended up emailing three different businesses a description of what I wanted done along with pictures and dimensions. When the first estimate from another business came in it was significantly higher than I was expecting. So high that I kinda figured I was going to pass on fixing up the sofa and just enjoy it as is. I received another estimate that was about in line with what I expected and Homely came in as the most affordable. I don't always go with the lowest bid I receive, but I could tell that this was an owner-operator type of business and that without as much overhead I could expect to pay less for the same quality of work. I chose to go with Homely and he actually came to my home to look over the furniture and explain the process and what types of materials I could choose from. He told me that the seam repair would be somewhat noticeable if you were really looking for it and that the buttons would not be a problem. I appreciated him being upfront with me about the seam repair. The sofa cushions and ottoman were returned within the time promised and exceeded my expectations. The cushions were no longer sagging, the buttons were replaced and the seam was repaired as if it had never torn. He also made a repair on the ottoman to the underside webbing that was causing the corners to sag, at no additional cost. The final bill actually came in about $20 less than the estimate. The next time I need some upholstery work done I won't have to read through dozens of Yelp reviews and email multiple businessess for an estimate. I'll go straight to Homely Upholstery because I know that I will get great work done at a fair price. read more

WOW! Give this place another 5-star review! I couldn't be more pleased with this company. First of all, they were immediately responsive to my initial inquiry, and made an appointment to come to my home the following Sunday to see my dining room chairs and show me fabric samples. David was very friendly when he arrived (on time) and had a large selection of fabrics from which to choose. He was patient and helpful to me in making a selection based on the colors in my rug, sofa and paintings. He took one complete chair with him and the three seats of the other chairs. Exactly four weeks later, he returned the chair with all four of the reupholstered seats, which he re-assembled. I was very impressed with their professionalism, responsiveness and communication We had a 10+ year old leather sofa, loveseat and armchair with non-removable cushions that badly need new foam. After several text messages and a phone conversation, David came to our home last December to assess the condition of the furniture and determine whether it was a project they could complete. Our kitchenette table stools needed recovering, we found AI through yelp as well as a couple of others. David was the first we reached and were convinced from the phone conversation that we would go see AI for quote. Quote was fair but then David explained all the steps they took and walked us through the workshop showing us the materials to be used. We also relied on David's eye for fabric selection showing him photos of the materials in our kitchen. There was an issue with one of the stools we didn't find until we got home. We're in Roseville, AI is in Rancho. David drove out to perform what he expected to be a simple fix, but it required that he take the stool back and rework it. When finished he returned the stool to us in perfect condition.
