Just heard about this place recently. Went there today and got an Italian hoagie. The people were very nice there. When she gave me my hoagie, I could feel the weight. It turned out to be one of the best I've had in a long while. Very tasty and well made. The only thing that could have improved it is sharp provolone, which I'll get next time. I grew up in Northeastern Central Pa and boy do I miss those hoagies. This is the first hoagie that has filled that hole in my heart (and stomach). Art's is a really unassuming spot in an unassuming town. I'm really glad I live down the block. I order once a week now. There are three things that make a great hoagie. The bread, the meat/cheese, and the fixin's. Art's piles it on. Everything. This hoagie is supported by a soft yet full roll, and is packed with anything and everything you need/want. My two favorite things so far have been the Italian Deluxe and the Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese. The bun the breakfast sandwich is on is fresh and perfectly sized. Every bite has filling. Anyone living across the bridge needs to make the trip over to Gloucester City, because after all these years living in greater Philly, this is the first time I've been wholly satisfied with a hoagie in this area. read more

These are the cheesesteaks I dislike reviewing. The woman running the counter at Art's is phenomenal. The roll was very good but too big. The meat did need flavor. First time in this place a friend of mine recommended to me that I try a hoagie from Art's. Sandwich was ready for pickup, service was great and friendly. Ordered a roast beef hoagie roll was fresh and good, hoagie was big for the price and meaty but not to overstuffed. Ladies explained about additional items to me on the menu and info about cheesesteaks. I was referred to this deli by a colleague. I stopped by once and was hooked on their giant subs. I came back four times after that in the same week, and each time I tried a different sub. All of them were really good. It's a small hole in the wall place, but it turned out to be a real gem. Sadly I live far away in Ohio, otherwise I would have been back here more often. read more

Decided to try Arts yesterday because we were hungry and haven't been food shopping. I work overnights and really didnt want to cook anything anyway because I was tired. Ordered a cheesesteak and fries for myself, and my son got the chicken parm sandwich and fries. At first, I thought it was a little expensive, but when my son went and picked up the food and brought it back, it was so worth it. The sandwiches and fries were enough to feed AT LEAST 4 people! HUGE!!! And they were SOOOOOO good!!! Fries were perfectly cooked, and the sandwiches were freaking amazing! I had lunch, dinner and a snack when I got home after work this morning!! Lol Definitely will order from there from now on instead of usual places!! The only thing I was sad about, was that they didnt have a meatball parm sandwich, which is what I originally wanted. I stopped in today while passing through Gloucester for the second time today... I recognized the name and figured I'd have a bite for lunch here... I walked in and was greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter... I ordered a half of an Italian hoagie... For $6.50, I got a huge sub that was cut in half... You don't get half of this sandwich at most other places for this price... I always reference a sub shop in town here from years back named Joes... I don't know how long Art's has been open in town here... But it has easily replaced joe's as a quality sandwich shop... This place is small, but has a couple tables in it to eat your meal on.. It's extremely clean, and the food was great.... It's not close to my home, but not too far away either... I'll be stopping in again when I'm in the mood for a decent sandwich... read more

In my opinion, It's hard to find good hoagie places, and I'm from Philly! But Arts' is the place for it. I started working right around the corner at the docks and a co-worker (gloucester city native) recommended I try their hoagies so I went and had a Turkey and cheese hoagie and I must admit, it was one of the best hoagies I've had. Ever since then, I go there for lunch almost all the time during work. Their chicken cheesesteaks are just as delicious. If you ever go, make sure you go hungry because the portions are big. Though the food is good every time I call in to order the girl always says your actually ordering 5 bacon cheeseburgers 3 separate times. I have a large family so my order is always a large order when we order out but to question my order 3x is rude and makes me question if they want the business or not. The food is good. I must say that I am so disappointed that I have to write this but I'm really upset with the hoagies I bought yesterday! I have been going to Arts for hoagies for years now, and have raved about them to everyone who would listen. BUT.....the last 3 times I have gotten hoagies, they were so skimpy that I will never buy from them again! I had a small luncheon yesterday for my husbands family. It was a spur of the moment thing, due to the fact that my mother in law just passed away the day before and I wanted to have lunch for everyone so they could prepare for her funeral. I was reluctant to get my hoagies from Arts, since they were lousy the last two times, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well, when my husband ordered them, he mentioned to the guy at the counter my concerns and the man said, "oh, no worries, Art himself is making them...you won't be disappointed!" Well, I put the two whole hoagies in the fridge until they came from the funeral home. It was probably about an hour. I bought them dry so they would not get soggy. When they were on their way, I started cutting them up in small pieces and I was shocked to see how they hardly had any meat on them!! I couldn't believe it!! $28.00 for two of the worst subs I have ever bought! rolls were hard and empty! I've now heard several people say the same exact thing!! Needless to say, I will never buy from them again. It's a shame because they lost a good customer! read more
