We've been to this place a few times in the past. The food was usually decent--not amazing, but satisfying--and the margaritas were consistently weak. On a previous visit, I mentioned the margaritas to the owner, who told me to ask for them to be made "by scratch" next time. Well, I did just that on this visit, and unfortunately, it made no difference. Still watered down and lacking flavor. When I mentioned this to the staff, the only response I got was a polite "sorry"--no effort to remake it or make things right. To make matters worse, the food this time was bland and tasteless, a noticeable drop in quality. They also have a new menu with noticeably higher prices, which might be easier to swallow if the quality had improved instead of declined. On the bright side, the service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, which is why this review isn't a one-star. But sadly, between the lackluster food, underwhelming drinks, and rising prices, I think this might have been our last visit. read more

Food was awful. Shredded beef tacos had to cone from a can. Beef Flavor was foul and was grease soaked. Salsa is made with no skill. All that you taste are tomatoes. Chips were good. Margarita was weak. Service was decent. Ambience is that of an old cafe. When the owner came to our table his words were,"I heard you didn't like my tacos". He was argumentative and defensive. Okay, Arturo's has a decent reputation. I'm in town so decided to stop on in. Parking lot was full on a Tuesday evening. That's usually a good sign. Got seated right away. Obligatory chips and salsa before the menu. Salsa was mild, but tasty. It had some flavor. I ordered the #1 meal, a Chile Relleno with rice and beans. The rice was good. The beans were better but I've been suffering in Texas with nothing but Tex Mex. The Relleno was okay, but I'm a Relleno snob. The chile was small and the batter just a little light. Flavor was good but not enough there to make it great. The sopapillas were HUGE (well, larger than they serve in Tejas). They were perfect. Light cinnamon with very light powdered sugar and honey. Mmmmm! Overall, pretty darn good. It's a little noisy but it was packed for dinner. If you're an Arizona Cardinals fan, this could be home for you too. read more

Taco Tuesday seems to be a very popular attraction at Arturo's...they are great. When they get busy, service can be a bit slower but they make a good effort. Their salsa is just right; just sassy enough to be excellent. Lots of Mexican food competition in Chino Valley. read more

My family and I have been coming to Arturo's for the past 20 years. As of the past couple years they have started to go down hill. Last night we went for dinner there after a baseball game. I got a bean burrito enchilada style. My son got the fajitas and my husband got a red chili bowl with the rice and beans. We each got a soda. We went up to pay and our bill was $74 before the tip...that is ridiculous!! I want to support the businesses around us. But not for this amount of money. Ordered my family's dinner this evening, 15 tacos. I arrive too pick up my order and asked if my order had everything as I ordered it. I was told "Yes, everything in the bag" as I began too check it. They were busy so I just paid for the dinner and left. I arrived home to find 5 tacos short, I immediately call back too inform them of their mistake. I drove all the way back to the restaurant, I had to wait another 15 mins for my 5 tacos. When it was brought to me I asked for a discount off of our entire meal and the heavy set blond girl said "You have your tacos, you can leave now". I went to the manager/owner and he was just as useless as the cashier. Told me too come in to dine instead of ordering take out. Please work on your customer service and train your staff. What a gem! The decor is muted southwestern and easy on the eyes. Despite the size, it was fairly quiet even though there were quite a few full tables. The food arrived quickly and tasted delicious. We will definitely be back. read more

This restaurant has a history of poor customer service and bad attitudes. Quite frankly, the food is bad as well. Not sure how they've managed to stay in business this long...... oh yeah, they're one of the only restaurants in Chino. We ordered chicken fajitas, average. Beef burro, fine. 2 carne asada tacos, fine. 1 soft drink. This meal, based on their menu prices, should have been $52. Ended up paying $68, before tip. Want a detailed breakdown of what you paid for? Too bad. All you're getting is a written check in code they only understand. So, have fun talking to the person at the register and figuring that out. By that point you're just going to want to pay and get out. Luckily, I don't ever have to eat here again. But I feel bad for locals who don't have a lot of options. read more

When I come to visit my mother in Chino Valley, this is her go to restaurant. She absolutely loves it. I wish you stayed open a little longer, but I understand that in such a small town closing early must happen. The only recommendation I have is to have a second soul shot. That is a little hotter. Food was adequate, not much meat in the tacos on taco Tuesdays. Service was really good from Victoria, and Cindy, others were not that good. Used to get there around 5:30 (7) of us every week, we ordered quickly, tipped well and were pleasant. After 5-6 years of being good customers, the owner stated, the last time we were there that there wouldn't be an available table all night for us. FIRST TIME. "Taco Tuesday"- Place was packed which I took as a good sign. The chips were warm & crispy, very nice. The salsa was fresh & somewhat tasty thanks to the cilantro but yet pretty mild, bordering bland. No onions or scallions (to be fair, I like it hot) The waitress was great, very attentive. We sat in the bar & Margaritas were great. We both got chicken tacos. She liked them, I thought they were surprisingly tasteless & added a lot of salt. Chicken was just chicken, NO seasoning whatsoever. Dry shredded chicken, minimal lettuce/tomato/shredded cheese. Fresh crispy taco shells though. They need to ask heat preference or at least have hot sauce on the tables for people that want more than mild. Nothing else on the plate. You'd think a little scoop of beans or rice or guac, if nothing else for the visual. I'll definitely try Arturo's again but definitely NOT the chicken tacos. read more

This was my first visit, and the decor and cleanliness appeared to be good. We had a small group of friends. We needed an extra table to be able to sit with all of our friends. I asked the waitress if we can do that she gave me a glaring look. After I explained to her, what was going on, she reluctantly put the tables together. For some reason, the waitress seem to have a chip on her shoulder. I try not to focus on those things, but sometimes you just can't help it. I want to be fair to her because it did seem that she was working fairly hard going back-and-forth. Perhaps she was tired I don't know. As far as the food reviews go, the chips and salsa were excellent. The tacos were shredded beef but had a funny taste. Not sure why. The beans and rice were very good. The sample platter was very inviting. The ambience was nice but not fancy. The prices were fairly high so you can expect that. One of our friends was helped by this particular waitress, and the waitress seemed to be like I said, bothered. I would say the overall experience was OK, but not great. I probably will not go back, unless we have an event there to attend. read more

Staff was rude and the food sucked. The cheese crisp was the only thing worth eating but let's be real how hard is it to make a cheese crisp. Also 3.29 for a soda was overpriced and the waitress seemed annoyed when asking for a refill. Go to Taco Bell instead of this overpriced garbage. read more

Went to eat and the little hispanic lady at the front counter was very rude to my wife and then we waited about ten minutes just to put our name in to get a table and then this older man comes up and just starts helping others who came way after us!! Was in the mood for Mexican and not familiar with the area, we gambled on Arturo's - and won! Service was fast and polite, attentive but not annoying. Prices are very reasonable. I had the shrimp burrito and it was absolutely delicious! The chips and salsa were good, with the salsa having a deep taste, with the right amount of heat. Guacamole was also excellent. The shrimp was nicely cooked without being overdone, the salsa verde excellent, and the portion huge. I didn't bother with any sides and I'm glad I didn't - not necessary.
