The menu has all the classic café favorites, but what really sets this place apart is the quality. You can truly taste the care and love that goes into the food; everything feels thoughtfully made with fresh, homemade ingredients. Very average. Nothing to write home about in my view. Coffee service is either too aggressive or non existent. I prefer to drink my coffee with creamer & get a refill when I've finished the cup, not deluting it in between. The menu is very cleaver in stating the toast comes in 1 or 2 pieces, not slices as we normally expect. So for 2 "pieces" you really get one slice just cut diagonally in half. I look at these things & wonder where else have they cut corners to such an extreme. One thing that is beyond their control is the sales tax you pay in Chino Valley. It adds a 4% on top of state & county tax. You end up paying that tax in this town even if you just buy food at a market, which I personally view as just wrong. I visit Lake Havasu once in a while where they add just 1% but the roads aren't full of pot holes & have all the services one would need. read more

Service and food at Skillets Café was outstanding... I ordered the breakfast burrito, with chili verde and sausage, and requested that the hashbrowns be outside the burrito. Everything ordered was perfect and the chili verde had a nice kick to it. Bonus mom ordered minestrone soup with half of a tuna melt sandwich. Today, for lunch, three of us stopped at Chino Valley's Skillets Cafe for lunch. We had an omelette with hash browns, a 1/2 tuna melt with potato salad and a 1/2 ham stack with potato salad. Everything was good. Service was outstanding. read more

Stopped here on my way back to Phoenix after a Grand Canyon trip. The cafe is in an area that has other businesses so the parking lot was packed. My wait to be seated was about 5 minutes. The staff were eager to refill our coffees during our visit that's for sure. This is a mom and pop small town joint where locals meet to have a meal. So expect that kind of food to be served. It wasn't bad, but just your average dishes like eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. I'm thankful for the cafe, because it filled me up early in the morning. read more

I'll take ugly eggs that are cooked properly any day. 3. Sausage patties are a crap shoot most places. These were good. 4. Hash Browns were terrible. Didn't eat them. If you blink you will miss it and don't be deceived but the look of it because the people are so friendly and the food is served hot. Had the chicken fried steak and it was probably the first time rating biscuits and gravy and it was actually served hot! Must be where the locals go because it was busy the whole time we were there. My husband and I tried this restaurant again. We haven't gone out for breakfast in a while and I saw reviews have gone up. I ordered a vegetable omelette with home fries, which I was expecting to see with added onions and bell peppers. Well it looked like frozen cut potatoes deep fried. I also requested to have instead of pancakes a waffle which I got half, it came very soggy. My husband's breakfast was barely warm, his pancakes very dense. We both ended up getting sick with body ache and super tired the whole day. We will not go back to this place. read more

I was in town visiting friends and we came in for breakfast. There was a good buzz in the restaurant but we were able to be sat pretty immediately. The restaurant has a casual, basic type look and feel. They're open for breakfast and lunch and have a bit of everything. For breakfast you can have items such as their various signature skillets (skillets is in their name, so you know they do them well!), omelets, burritos, waffles, French toast, hotcakes, and other items such as various meat and egg plates (think bacon & eggs, chicken fried steak & eggs, etc) and biscuits & gravy. Lunch items include but are not limited to various burgers, sandwiches, salads, fried entrees (chicken strips, fish fry, etc) and various sides. Service was good and everything came out in a timely manner. I did the Spicy Skillet which came with chorizo, pepper jack cheese, and jalapenos. It was served with two eggs, cheese and choice of hash browns or home fries. I did home fries, the potatoes were well cooked. It also came with a choice of toast, hotcakes or biscuit & gravy. The skillet was plenty as was the choice of biscuit and gravy side I did and very good. Good spice with the chorizo and jalapenos and it everything was seasoned well. Biscuit seemed fresh.
