Once again, same issue with the heel but another pair of stilettos. Was quoted $18 and approximately two weeks will be notified by a text when ready. Cramped entry since it's a small space, but I was in and out fairly quickly. When I returned, there was a girl in front of me who had a ton of shoes with her, and the guy barely acknowledged me to let me know someone would be with me shortly (I admit I'm not a looker) but thankfully, another nice guy came over and helped me with my easy pick up. Was offered a bag but I had the dust bag for the shoes with me. What pleases me about this place is all the shoes I've had fixed here are ones I'm still actually wearing; even if I thought they'd be in disarray shortly after repair. I've been going to Arturo's for over 15 years, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my shoes or handbags. Even though I work directly across from a shoe repair shop on Little Santa Monica, I've always stayed loyal to Arturo's. They're absolute pros at dyeing shoes to a completely new color, doing deep cleanings, and their pricing is very reasonable. One of my biggest tests was when they repaired my Louis Vuitton bag, the straps looked identical to the original. They also worked on a handmade African leather bag, made with extremely thick leather. The strap had ripped within a year of me buying it, but after Arturo's fixed it, it's been durable and strong for over 10 years now. That's the kind of magic hands and attention to detail they have. They do amazing work with high-end bags, including hardware replacements, and I've seen countless loyal customers coming and going over the years when they were still on Santa Monica Blvd. Now that they've moved to Melrose, it's a bit farther from my job, but absolutely worth the trip because I trust no one else. A heads-up: they only take cash (I think they might take checks, but don't quote me on that). Service is great. The owner might have a serious face, but he's genuinely nice and always makes sure the job gets done right. Went to Gucci on Rodeo Dr bought a purse for my mother's Christmas gift. Then brought it to Arturo's to customize with patches from Etsy that have meaning. Wish I could give them 6 stars - one hardly encounters such level of meticulous attention to detail and artistry. Although I used Arturo's for decades, my recent experience surpassed even my already high expectations: I brought a (very expensive) combat boot which needed a new zipper. While Ari indicated that the tip of the new zipper will not match the other because he, obviously, does not carry designer zippers, when I picked up the boot, I discovered that someone has taken the time to detach the old zipper tip and flawlessly attach it to the new zipper. This was done at no charge to me, despite the fact that I had already accepted that the new zippers would not have the little designer tip on it. This kind of old-world service and artisanship is so rare these days and I was gratified to have encountered it! read more

Ari and company did an impeccable job of altering my Gucci belt. I needed to have two inches cut off of the belt for a better fit, and a sales lady at Gucci recommended Arturo's. Not only did they do the job in less than one week, it only cost $12!!! The belt is reversible (black/brown), and I was a little nervous about that functionality being "messed up," but it wasn't and the belt looks perfect. It's been years since the company founder, the wonderful Arturo, passed, but he instilled an appreciation for excellence in his grandson Ari who manages the business. Note: kept my old review as the context was still true! This time I took my Gucci bag that they cleaned the lining in years ago (see last review) and asked them to replace the lining. I originally took this bag to Gucci, but they wanted $500. I love the original linen lining, but not that much. That said, I plan to keep this bag forever, so I decided I'll just change the lining myself and use a nice design like fabric as I'll likely have to change it a few more times in life. God willing! Arturos did an excellent job! Same as usual, easy parking at a meter on the street or the nearby public parking off Santa Monica Blvd. There are usually no lines, they service you quickly and call you when it's done. Great service, excellent quality work, reasonably priced for what you get and drama free. The seams are very well done, they mimicked the pockets from the other lining and reused the Gucci leather zipper for the pocket and the seams connected to the leather part of the bag are completely seamless?! I dropped off two pairs of shoes. The first was a Golden Goose sneaker set that needed to be re-soled. I had called the local GG store and they recommended them. The beaker sole that had been worn out was replaced. It did not match exactly but blended in with the worn style of the shoe. I also took a pair of red Gucci mules that had the been scuffed and scraped at the front. These were returned in pretty good shape and I d couldn't not see the damage unless I focused on the area. I've been visiting Arturo for help with shores and handbags since 1998. He was literally a top tier artisan. His work was perfection! I'm not exaggerating. He's passed down his craft to his grandson Ari and the craft continues. Ari restored a favorite pair of Prada sandals that rightfully should have been tossed in the trash from the look of them. They are gorgeous again and I get compliments literally every time I wear them. They also restored my vintage briefcase and found matching hardware for the brass fastener that had fallen off. I can't recommend this business more highly. The retail stores even bring items for repair to Ari. I'd say that the trust of Neiman Marcus and Saks indicates a broad positive endorsement elevated beyond my occasional pedestrian repairs! read more

WOW what CREEPS. Walked in politely with a pair of Birkenstocks, of which I had bought official Birkenstock soles for online thinking I might do the job myself, but ran out of time. When I asked them how much to resole, they told me $120 and acted like assholes. I told them the shoes new were $150, and that down the street at Fast & Best Shoe Repair, the place Birkenstock recs in LA to repair soles, they charge $75 for the whole job including official Birkenstock soles. Ari is a magic maker and in less than 5 minutes removed an awful oil spot (and then my mistake of blotting water) from the inside of my Hermes birkin crocodile bag at no charge!! I brought it to 2 leather repair places and both of them said " there is no way to fix it, no one can fix it". I didn't believe them and I brought my wallet here. They told me they can but the damage will still be there, so I was not expecting it to be perfect. When I picked it up, I couldn't locate where the damage was! Every since Arturo's was recommended to me, I have been extremely pleased with their level of skill, craftsmanship and service. I've brought several shoes here to be fixed, two complicated pairs that I'll share. First pair was a pair of Giuseppe sandals whew the strap broke from the wooden sole. I thought i would have to get rid of them, but took them to Arturo's and they look brand new! Second pair, a pair of white ankle boots that has black scuff marks on the heels and sides. To my surprised, they look like completely NEW boots! White is a difficult color to match, but they did.
