I'm very disappointed with my experience. I brought in a wool coat and a wool sweater for dry cleaning and was charged $50 for two items. When I got home and removed them from the bag, there was still visible cat hair on both pieces. There wasn't much hair to begin with, but at this price point I expected the items to be returned clean and presentable. Instead, I had to use a lint roller myself to finish the job. Because of this experience, I will not be returning. I had planned to bring in over 50 pairs of pants for alterations, but I will be taking my business elsewhere. Additionally, my receipt shows a total of $43, yet my debit card was charged $45. I would like clarification on this discrepancy. read more

Best Kept Secret. This little tucked away no frills cleaner is a miracle worker! I took a shirt that was stained 10 years ago and they were able to remove the stains. I recently did it again with a shirt that was stained from a tie that bled all over. They again remove the stains and the shirt looks like gnu. I was charged 3x the price on my last trip. I inquired as to why and I was told "there was a stain". Again, that's why I brought my items in. To have stains removed and to be cleaned. I found this cleaners because I originally needed to get my shoes repaired. They did such a great job that I started to bring my dry cleaning there as well. They are friendly and the quality of cleaning is satisfying. I also get my items back in a timely manner. It's in a convenient location but parking isn't always easy because it's a small parking lot. I wear heels and walk a lot so my shoes can get pretty beat up. They restored them to almost new. I've been going here for almost a year and they've never let me down. read more

Brought in some boots to have altered and tightened up. They did the job, although it took a month. Fast forward to today, when I took in a jacket that's one size to large. Just needed the sleeves shortened an inch, and the waist taken in an inch. $80. Are you fucking kidding me. The jacket itself was only $10. I'm not paying $80 to have it taken in an inch. I'd tell you Karina's Cleaners is the typical Russian neighborhood dry cleaning shoppe, but then again, there's no hidden gambling hall in back, replete with roulette table and slot machines, or fake IDs available for $60 and thickly-accented "if you tell anyone about this, boy, you're dead..." So in that sense, Karina's is in a league of its own. Anystereotype, What it does have is decent, average-speed service, and a small glass-enclosed display case offering pocket knives, a few pairs of one-off designer jeans, genuine-looking bottles of cologne, religious charms, and lighters -- at flea market bazaar prices. You know, just typical things you'd buy at any dry cleaners. There is a tailor on site, but most items you take in to get altered will be sent to a third-party, as will your boots or high heels, if you take them in to get repaired. If you have suede shoes or a leather purse that need to be cleaned, they too will be shipped to an off-site location. In-store cleaning services -- laungry, pressing, spot cleaning, normal dry-cleaning -- are reasonably priced, and your items will come back to you in a timely manner. Shoe repair, suede and leather cleaning, and alterations take considerably longer, and of course cost more (example: expect to pay $40 to have your suede bag cleaned). Don't be surprised if your 'Choos with a chipped heel take nearly two weeks to get back to you. Anyway, for a local dry cleaners, Karina's is more than adequate, but if you've got a major and or expensive item to be cleaned or repaired, I recommend Flair or Fame or Top Hat. Languages spoken at Karina's include English, Russian, and Armenian. Sometimes the proprietors will create a pastiche of sentences when speaking to you, but there's no mistaking, "Ready on Tuesday," and "Get out -- no loitering," and "No, no casino in back here, kid..." I take my laundry here all the time and they do a fantastic job! However, what really makes them special is the extra stuff they can do. I had blood on an expensive fitted sheet and had already washed and dried it. He informed me I may have set the stain but offered to do his best to get it out. They saved the sheet and got the stain out. Amazing! Last week I dropped off a linen pillow case with leather straps attached to it that couldn't be dry cleaned. This place was convenient to other places I'd frequent. I'd go there a lot mainly due to comfort and not having to get used to a new cleaners. But then one day they messed up my partner's pants. It was in an unnoticeable spot, but it was still very disappointing. We never told them about it and just dealt with it. Then they messed up a shirt I had never worn yet. It was too long for me so I brought it in to get hemmed. I literally bought the shirt, had never worn it, and brought it to them brand new. When they shortened it, they accidentally created a long snag that wasn't there when I first bought it days ago. Mistakes happen but they denied it. I brought in a brand new Anthropologie duvet. I have a dog so there was dog hair. I've had it for about three weeks. There were NO rips or tears in it. I went to pick it up and there are two GIANT holes in it. They told me it was my fault and I must not of noticed it. This is completely untrue. I asked them why they didn't inspect it when I came in and they kept repeating about how it had dog hair and they couldn't open it up. Obviously it had hair on it. If it was perfectly clean I wouldn't be bringing it to the dry cleaners. Their solution is to sew up the giant holes. I have had this duvet for three weeks. 370 dollars down the drain. No longer a good place to go. For years I have been going here. I talk to the owners, nice guys, spend a small fortune there monthly, return the coat hangers and have been recommending other people go there. In short I have been a great customer. So why can't this place appreciate that and return good service to me? The last few times their quality has really slipped and when I dared to open my mouth to say anything a terribly rude woman, who must be new has given me a big speech about what they can't do. She basically tells me how hard their job is and how they aren't magicians. Clearly - magicians know how to make the audience like them not loathe them. So the last time I went in and picked up and order I pointed out that I stain on a pair of pants was still there. I didn't seem fair that I should have to pay full price so I asked for a discount, since clearly they did not do the job right. After years of going there and all the money I have spent there it did not seem like I should be charged the full price for a problem they could not solve: Instead the woman behind the counter had the audacity to tell me I should pay them more because they worked harder to remove the stain and used more dry cleaning chemicals. My head almost whipped back off my shoulders as I considered the absurdity of hear statement. Calmly I informed her that her logic is analogous to someone being delivered the wrong pizza and when calling up the pizza place being told that since it was harder to make the customer should pay more money, never mind the fact that it was the incorrect order or that the customer did not want that. In the end I simply informed her I would not be taking my clothes there again. I realize that no one there is going on vacation on the two thousand dollars I spend there a year, but one also does not have to deal with such irrational and obnoxious behavior. Just so we are clear which cleaner this is, they are the one next to the 7 Eleven on Santa Monica Blvd right next to the Carwash between Fairfax and La Brea. I decided to give them a try since I happened to have my dress shirts in a bag ready to be cleaned when after tennis I stopped at the 7 eleven and they were right next store. They seemed friendly. On top of that, they had a great deal for $1 laundry. I have learned my lesson. Sometimes the cheap comes out expensive. I dropped off the shirts, we counted together, and there were 22 shirts. They gave me a ticket for 22. Out of that 22, 1 shirt had a stain on the sleeve, so they said they could get that out by using Dry Cleaning. Then as we got to the end of counting, the lady noticed another shirt with white on the underarm portion. She claimed the only way to get that out was dry cleaning. So I said yes. So that makes two shirts that needed dry cleaning. Today when I went to get the shirts, the lady claimed she miscounted 3 weeks ago and that there were only 21....as if she would remember a count from 3 weeks ago. However, what I did remember were two shirts that needed dry cleaning so I asked her how many shirts were dry cleaned. She said one. That confirmed they lost one of my shirts. Her reaction was she couldn't remember discussing two dry cleaned shirts from 3 weeks ago. Now I know in a case like this I could bring them to court and win, but for a used shirt it wasn't worth the hassle. However, as I explained to her, they lost my trust, they lost a new customer, and I would never recommend anyone go here. At least she could have said, sorry, I'm not sure if it was our mistake or not, but let me take off something for the next visit. Nothing like that. Instead, all she kept insisting was that she originally miscounted. The ticket I had says otherwise and I'm positive there were two shirts to be dry cleaned, not one. Pieces that cost 250 bucks for my outfit and I have only worn like 3 times and it's worn looking now ..... They ruined multiple lace bikini pieces.... Looks like they threw them in the washing machine or laid Velcro directly on top of them!! My favorite bikini top shrunk and won't fit my E cup tits anymore! I've used this dry cleaner for dry cleaning, hand washing for fragile items and alterations regularly for 2.5 years. It's a family business and it's nice to walk into a place where they know your name! The turnaround time may be a few days longer than I'd like for dry cleaning, but they do a nice job and their prices are affordable. When I was unemployed for a short period a year ago, I kindly asked for a discount on one bill & they honored my request. Their seamstress does a nice job with hemming and taking clothes in. No complaints there. Turn time depends on her workload and the nature of the alteration. In my experience, it's been about a week. It can take up to 2 if its around a holiday period/season, so plan accordingly. I have taken shoes here to get repaired and Jack - one of two brothers that works here (the other is Avo & very friendly/helpful) - has let me know if something may or may not be salvageable or at least details how crafty he needs to get to repair the shoe. Prices and time to fix shoes also depend on their workload & nature of the repair, but for basic repairs, expect a week. Overall, this is a great place, but if you want quicker turn times or foresee complicated alterations or shoe repairs, you're generally better off going to a standalone tailor or cobbler. Not only are they extremely friendly, helpful & efficient, but they are inexpensive as well! Brought in a new Ralph Lauren mens bathrobe to have the sleeves shortened. The tailor pinned it short and 3 times I had him lengthen it so it would cover my wrist bone. I was explicit as I previously was a designer. Today I picked it up and took it home where I tried it on. SURPRISE the sleeves where so short I looked like a circus performer. I brought it back immediately and they gave me a song and dance. I was unyielding when they suggested putting plain black fabric on the sleeves to lengthen it I knew they wouldn't take responsibility for their mistake. I told them to keep the robe and I was going to contact my credit card to dispute the charge. At least it will pay a portion of the replacement robe. Beware of this establishment. Was quoted a price on the phone and in person to hem my curtains, but when I went to pick them up they charged me DOUBLE. They only quoted me on 2 of the 4 panels of curtain. I was grossly overcharged, more than $50 than their neighbors would have charged me.
