I brought my car here on Monday (8/1) due to a noise that it was making on the left drivers side. Drop off was a bit confusing as the front door was open but there wasn't anyone at the desk and I waited for about 5 minutes or so and had to walk around to find someone. A gentleman came from the shop area to help. He was pleasant and took my information and promised to give me a call with the diagnoses. I had informed him that it was my only vehicle and that I would need it back ASAP to be able to get home, he assured me that I would hear from someone that morning. I heard back from them at 11:57AM and they let me know that the strut mount and ball joint on the left side were broken and needed to be replaced. She quoted me a price of $350.00 for each and told me that it wouldn't be any higher than $700.00. They didn't have the strut mount in stock for my car and they would have to order it and it would arrive the following morning. I agreed to these repairs and we both hung up. Tuesday morning came and about 11AM I called over to see if the part arrived and to discuss how we were going to handle the payment. The owner indicated that yes the parts arrived and that they would be working on my car that afternoon and it should be completed. I said okay and thought everything was fine. By 4PM I had started to call them to find out the status of my car as I was getting ready to leave work to come over and wanted to be sure that it was completed. After about 1/2 hour I got a call back and was told that it was done and they "just had to get the paperwork completed". I said okay not a problem and asked what the total was and was told "once the paperwork together we can let you know when you arrive". I made my way over to them about 10 minutes later. Once I arrived a gentleman asked me to have a seat they were just finalizing the paperwork. After another 10 minutes a female walked in and we said hello and I continued to wait. After another 10 minutes the female asked me to come up to the desk she was ready for me (at this point I realized it was the owner), I came up to the desk at which time she handed me a bill for $1,041.53 which was significantly more than the approx. $700.00 which she quoted me. She then proceeded to tell me it was because they replaced the right side strut mount as well due to it being a "safety issue" and would not pass inspection. While I understood the safety issue and it not passing inspection that was NOT what my car was there for. It was there for the noise on the left hand side of my car. When I asked why repairs were done that I had NOT authorized I was told that the mechanic felt since it was a "safety" issue and the owner wasn't around to call me that he would just replace them. When I pointed out that this was unacceptable the owner proceeded to tell me that it wouldn't pass inspection (yes my inspection was due) and that it was a safety issue. While I told her I understood all that my issue was WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CALL ME TO GET AUTHORIZATION. More than likely I would have approved it, however, NO ONE called me. It wasn't like they gave me a discount on the price either. It was the same amount to replace the left side (including labor) as it was the right side. I was then "forced" into an agreement to pay the difference by the end of the month, however, I didn't agree with this, however, they were holding my keys hostage and I had no way to get home and felt I had no choice. I understand mistakes happen, but I didn't authorize this work and I can't verify if in fact the mount was bad as they didn't show me the part etc. There was no issue with the right side when I brought it in and believe that I was taken complete advantage of.

Then hit with a surcharge, after 20 plus years I'm taking by business elsewhere!!

Predatory "free inspection" practices. Came in for an oil change and was presented with $2,800 in…read morerecommended services, including multiple fluid flushes. The only "diagnostic" provided was a photo of the fluids on a color comparison card, no actual test results of any kind. I went home and tested the coolant and brake fluid myself. Both were perfectly fine. The brake fluid they recommended flushing had been done less than 2 years prior and was clearly documented on CARFAX, the same CARFAX they told me they use to generate recommendations. That's the problem. When I left a negative Google review, the shop called me and confirmed that services are recommended based on time, mileage, and whether they appear on CARFAX, not actual fluid condition. A color card is not a diagnostic tool. It's cover. Their process is designed to maximize recommendations, not accuracy. Nothing in it is designed to tell them a service isn't needed. If your shop is recommending fluid flushes based on mileage and a color card, find a new shop.

I put in a 10 mile search radius in the area on Google and after a few phone calls settled on a short list with Willistown Auto Repair among them. I decided to give them a shot and I am glad I did. In this world where integrity is scarce its good to see some businesses still exist where that matters. I had a lot of repairs that where needed to get my SUV through inspection. I had to spread out the repairs so as to budget them in with my paychecks. Each time they gave me a quote on a job they stuck to the price. No last minute suspicious surprises on my bill just straight up what they told me they'd be. The repair work was high quality, prices reasonable and there were quick turn arounds - No more than 48hrs on any of the three repairs. I am relieved to know I found a solid auto repair shop nearby I can trust to get the job done right when needed, wont over charge me and are polite and professional.
