Dr. Starbucks gave my son and I super uncomfortable vibes and I am considering never going back to any of the other doctors.

I used to take my son to this place. They misdiagnosed him. I insisted for days that something was wrong and they did not listen and keep telling me it was a virus. I asked the nurse what to do for a rash he got that was getting worse she was so mean and said "I don't know, I guess put lotion on it" and walked away. One day I decided to take him to the hospital. My son ended up hospitalized with Kawasaki Disease and the specialist at Children's told us that I did the right thing to bring my son to them because this disease can significantly hurt his cardiovascular system if not treated. Rude nurses and Dr. that doesn't listen to moms! We might not be doctors but we have instincts that science can't explain! if you cant listen to mom you are not a good doctor. read more

We recently moved from Colorado but had been seeing Dr. Starbuck. Trying to find a pediatrician in our new state has proven just how wonderful Dr Starbuck is! He spends an appropriate amount of time with us. He is not uncomfortable with temporarily silence while we all collect our thoughts to make sure every milestone is discussed and every question answered. My son (now 2yrs) was comfortable around Dr. Starbuck at every visit. We also saw Renee, his PA, for a few sick visits. She was excellent as well. Very knowledgable and helpful. read more

Terrible experience at this office. God forbid you have important life aspects that come up and you need to reschedule your appointments. The front desk staff is extremely rude. I would highly suggest you stay far away from this office. There are many more options that will actually care about your family. read more

I have had two pregnancies/kids and brought them both here. I live in Broomfield and have many friends that have gone to this business and had very negative opinions and experiences. I see Dr. Starbuck for my toddler . He is great. But had bad experiences with Tiffany at front desk and one of the PAs. The PA did not even know to draw blood for a test. She would spill the blood or won't draw enough and end up poking my kid twice. This happened more than once. Very inexperienced ! read more

Been going here for my kids since birth. So over 17 years. They have always been professional and caring. I don't know what all these bad reviews are talking about. And if you read them they are complaining of really dumb things. Like someone's child got really hurt and they drove them here? This isn't a hospital. Take your kid to the ER. People complaining about waiting for appointments longer. It's covid times. Everything is longer now. Almost none of the one star reviews are actual reviews on the doctors or nurses. We've been bringing our 2 kids here for 3.5 years, and have been really pleased with their pediatrician, Dr. Hodge, but have reached our breaking point with the support staff. They don't listen, they're rude and unhelpful... I see other reviews like this, and I wonder why aren't the business owners making a change?! I have to give them a 1 BIG STAR because that's the lowest i can give here. I had an appointment with them for my daughters at 3pm but my daughter fell on a glass coffee table and got injured around 11am. I did not know where to go or what to do and just started driving to here. They said that they can't see us now even tho I said she looks bad and I need advise. Since we were on the phone I was already there but like I said they said it's not urgent and dr can't check her now. And I give them a BIG WOW too. Horrible staff and front desk!!!!!! SOMETIMES YOU GUYS CANT DECIDE ITS URGENT OR NOT!!!!! I DECIDE ITS URGENT OR NOT!!! I AM A FATHER!!!! Another thing. I did not even write anything here but I just received a letter from dr that saying she does not want to be our physician. We should look for new dr. YOU MUST BE KIDDING US. When your staff said it's not urgent I have already canceled my 3pm appointment right away too. What made you think that I will come back later to see you???? You guys are funny. And Dr Megan Guerin, you should have hear us first before send us this letter. Your staffs are rude and unprofessional. Let me attach some pictures here. We have been bringing our children here since they were born. We started out with Dr. Kathryn Starbuck who was beyond amazing! She left to do other things and so we are now patients of her husband Dr. Michael Starbuck. We love him as well so we were left in great hands. Paula the nurse is always so helpful over the phone. She is patient with me and always answers all my questions. She is so knowledgeable and has talked to me over the phone many times and provided the guidance I needed. read more

This office is just plain dirty. They don't have hand sanitizer posted by the patient rooms. I have never seen an employee wash or use sanitizer before or after coming into the room or touching my child. The exam room surfaces are visibly unclean. Their "COVID practices" of parking lot check-in don't help a bit when they don't clean or disinfect the facility properly. We won't be returning. They need to be reported. read more

Still awesome 3.75 years later. I have seen other doctors in the practice, but I am still most happy with Michael Starbuck! I can get in to see him, for a sick visit, usually the same day, and still with no wait (or at most I have had 5 minutes). He allows me to do a modified shot schedule for my 3 kids too. We found this place after having a bad experience and needed switched doctors. We were welcomed, the staff is so professional, they are always willing to work with us for scheduling and/or squeezing us in(on a Saturday! Had to go to the other location, but NBD!) The nurses were so pro at giving my son the vaccines he needed that he hardly even cried! First time in 10 months I didn't sweat or cry either. We love Dr. Hermann! The front office ladies are always nice and we'll organized. My husband works in healthcare, so we were so happy to find a place that meets our standards as well as the right care for our son. I am so happy my friend told me about this place. I was taking my kids to a doctor waaaay far from our house and when we had emergencies I would take them to the branch that os closer to our house and ALWAYS would end up leaving that place with my day ruined. Because of my constantly frustration my good friend told me about this place and I have been having the best experience ever. Staff is so nice and friendly ( I am not really used about it with the other one ) and the doctor we have seen is amazing. I love the doctors and PAs at Arvada Pediatrics and have been taking my kids there for 10 years. However, we are now moving practices due to the front desk. Tiffany is so short and RRHS every time you have to interact with her. They refuse to work around family or school schedules for appointments. The wait time to see a doctor is terrible, most of the time 40 plus minutes. Terrible that the front office is allowed to run this way. read more

This place is the best! Dr Kathryn Starbuck is wonderful. She always puts my kids, as well as my husband and myself, at ease. She has even stayed late to assist us when we had a very sick kid. However, all the doctors and PAs are very competent as well as caring. A great combination for pediatrics. I highly recommend this place. read more

Our 3 kids have went here for 15 years. Doctors are wonderful. Office is very poorly run. Most recent example, I made appts for flu shots over a month ago. It's bad enough that they will only do flu shots on Saturdays but even worse to waste 2 hours of my day driving back & forth and not end up with flu shots. 12:30 appts, told to arrive 15 minutes early and wait for call in car. Receive the call 8 minutes after the Appt (So have already been sitting in the car for 22 minutes) & i'm told they're running another 15 to 20 minutes late. I have another appointment so I can't sit in my car in their parking lot for an hour waiting for a two minute flu shot that I had an appointment for. Had we been 30 minutes late our appointment would've been canceled and we would've had to reschedule. They need to realize that their customers time is worth something as well. read more

We've seen Dr. Starbuck for over 5 years, from newborn to kindergarten age with our first, and newborn to toddler stage with our second. We've received great care throughout, whether we were seen for well visits or urgent ill appointments. He has a great, friendly manner with kids of all ages, gets to know the parents, and is very reasonable with treatment plans, offering suggestions but not pushing care that is unnecessary. For example, our youngest has been small on the growth curve since birth, and while we monitored him and took appropriate steps such as referral to a specialist and supplementation to encourage growth during infancy, Dr. Starbuck also reassured us that we didn't need to worry unless he was falling off his own personal growth trendline. He's always quickly treated what needs attention and taken a wait and see approach for things that might resolve on their own. The NPs and PAs here are wonderful as well. We are sad to leave this practice due to a move. read more

The other reviews give Arvada Pediatrics 5 stars, so maybe my review is kind of redundant, but I wanted to throw my 5-star vote behind them, too. We've been very happy with them. Both of our boys see Michael Starbuck, though sometimes we are seen by other doctors when we have to come in for an emergency visit when Michael isn't there, and we've never had anyone we didn't like (though Starbuck is still our favorite =). They have answered questions over the phone for us, they've squeezed us in on short order when necessary, and we've never had any problems with anyone at the office. read more

I have been bringing my kids to this clinic since my son was born, which is now 10 years. I adore Dr. Guerin! She has been a huge support through my son's diagnosis and my daughter being a preemie. It is unfortunate that the other non clinical staff leaves a bad impression. I got scolded for sending a message through the portal. Before I was told how important it was to sign up for this portal, so I figured this would be a tool for parents. I will admit I didn't see the part to not send questions but I wasn't asking for medical advice, just a question about a referral. This conversation with the referral coordinator was not informational, she talked down to me about wanting more information about the referral. Most of us are working parents so calling and being put on hold during office hours isn't convenient. I constantly get talked to down by the non clinical staff. Again unfortunate because the doctors here are great but the rest of the staff makes me want to find a new pediatrician. read more

I have 3 children who have all gone here, beginning in 1994; my youngest daughter is 17. I am thoroughly disappointed that I was not given any help for her yesterday. I simply asked for some medication to help her sleep for a few nights due to the very recent & sudden death of her best friend; she is depressed and her mind just cannot shut down long enough for her to get some GOOD rest; making simple daily activities much more difficult adding to the problems right now. I contacted the nurse @ APA and she was very helpful; but, in the end, Dr. Hodge would not help us, even for just 10 pills to help get my 17 yo some relief. With two significant deaths in my life, I was given something to help me sleep for a month by my physician each time I went through the initial shock of grieving and acceptance. This is when WE REALLY NEED our doctor to come alongside us and help! We were offered increased Melatonin, which we have already been using, and sent on our way. My daughter will be seen by a psychotherapist also; but what about the necessary help we need NOW, that I needed for her last night??? This is a sad review for me to have to write, but I would suggest that parents look for a practice that will BE THERE in the HARDEST times, not just for well checks, colds, and vaccines. read more

I do not recommend Arvada Pediatrics Associates at all. The first time I saw Dr. Michael Starbuck was for my son's 2 year check up. He seemed very unprofessional, for example his shirt and pants were all wrinkly as if he pulled them out of a pile of clothes. From working in the medical field I know your appearance is the first thing a patient is going to use to assess your knowledge. From there the problems just continued. The front office staff was extremely rude and demanding. They wanted me to provide an emergency contact number for my son that was not family related suggesting that my husband and I use a coworker as a contact. Why would anyone allow someone that is not family related to have emergency contact to their child's medical facility? The documentation paperwork, such as their HIPPA guidelines has not been updated since 2003. They do not utilize an EMR system. If you want anything done you have to request to speak with their office manager. She even stated that she agrees some of their paperwork needs to be updated. I don't understand why they have not updated their system. Within the north metro area there is many other facilities that take multiple different insurances that their practices are up to date with the current times. read more

I am thoroughly impressed with Arvada Pediatrics North office (Broomfield location) as well as many other people I have spoken to about the practice. I don't know why the lack of reviews. I am very picky like most parents about what kind of Dr. we choose to have our children see. Bedside manner, building rapport with child, gentle with examinations, knowledgeable, etc is at the top of my list. Unfortunately, I can't review many of the Drs here simply because I haven't been to them but I must say that Dr. Hodge is phenomenal. My daughter is reserved around new people and going through a stage where she's fearful of new situations. We've been going to Dr. Hodge for quite a while now and my child wants to go see Dr. Hodge!!! I am so impressed with her performance as a Dr.!! She takes her time so I never feel rushed and she answers all my questions and provides top notch care and words of comfort for my little one (5 years old). read more

Today was our first visit with Dr. Guerin and our first non-Kaiser medical visit. For anyone that's been a Kaiser patient you know what a change this is when it comes to billing/pharmacy/appointments...everything. Dr. Guerin was awesome as was the whole office. Highly recommended! read more

I do not recommend this practice. The wait to see the doctor was longer than normal (40+ minutes before she came in to the room). The doctor did not seem caring at all and when my daughter expressed one of her symptoms, the doc said "you can't spring this on me now, you're going to have to come back for a well visit". Then, they drew blood after several unsuccessful attempts, and said "we will only be testing thyroid at this time. If you want anything else checked, you will have to come back for a well visit". I'm sorry, but this place will not be checking my daughters blood again because they aren't very skilled at it. The visit in general seemed all about money - several comments about coming back for well visits. We needed help now, not later. read more

I absolutely love this practice! Dr. Michael Starbuck is the primary doctor for my kids; however, they have on occasion seen others (PA or nurse practitioner). The office is well staffed and accommodating. Prescriptions are called in promptly, and the doctor calls to check in on the kids after visits, if warranted. My kids love Dr. Michael, and he is very attentive to their needs. He addresses them appropriately for their ages (14 & 16) and makes them feel at ease. They have been patients with Arvada Peds (in Broomfield) for 3 years, since they were 11 & 13. Thank you for always caring, Dr. Micheal and staff! read more

I took my newborn here and Dr Guerin wanted to try a procedure to help dry out her umbilical cord stump. She brought in the chemical stick used in the procedure but then told me that she 'couldn't get to the area' she needed to for the procedure to be effective. She proceeded to charge me for the procedure in an amount SIX times what the insurance allows! I got stuck with the bill and when I called to discuss having to pay for a procedure that the doctor admitted she couldn't complete, she refused to write off any part of the bill. I had to pay it to prevent it affecting my credit but I'm furious and disappointed that the doctor would take advantage of me, and my daughter, that way. I will not be returning. read more

My children have been going here since 1998, first with Dr. Weiss at the north office, then with Dr. Starbuck at the Broomfield office. These doctors and nurses are the best, they care about your children and get to know the families so they can be involved in their care. Lara is the BEST, both my kids request her. With a child who suffers from Epilepsy, we received horrible care. Your a number! Never once did Dr. Michale Starbuck follow up after ER visits or hospital stays. I am appalled by the lack of communication from my son's primary care provider and the rudeness with which I have been treated. I wanted to warn those parents in the area who may be searching for a pediatrician for their child that Dr. Starbuck and his staff do not seem to actually care about their patients and have no loyalty to patients who have been loyal to them. read more

I used to take my daughter to the Denver Health's pediatric clinic and it was an inconvenient nightmare each time. They require you to show up early for each appointment for no reason and you are not taken into a room for a minimum of 30 minutes after your scheduled time. If you try and refuse any optional vaccinations the nurse attempts to push you into getting them anyway. Arvada Pediatrics was a dream come true. They put us in the room 10 minutes earlier than scheduled and the doctor came in soon after. She was very professional, honest and worked well with my shy child. The doctor at DH knew little about children and never had any advice on how to get my child to eat more. The doctor at Aravada Pediatrics had solid and effective advice on helping my child eat more and I appreciated her overall expertise on proper childcare. I think I found a keeper and am extremely grateful for it. read more

We had such an amazing experience here today. My 14yo daughter got a concussion over the weekend and we were able to get in first thing in the morning. They were worried about complications and they called Children's for us and the ER was expecting us when we got there. Candace, the PA who was working with us, called us while we were at Children's to check in and see how my daughter was doing. Really appreciated the great patient care and attention. read more

I have been going here since 2002. We have always had the most awesome care. Dr. Starbuck was the kindest doctor I know. She took so much time and effort every time we were there. Renae the NP is also awesome. Never had issues with billing either. Loved this place. My kids are now grown so no longer get to go there. read more

I have taken both of my boys here since moving to Colorado 10 years ago and have had nothing but positive experiences. Dr Michael is our primary doctor here. He has gone out of his way to help us on several occasions when my kids have had weird ailments. He is always curteous, kind and humorous and always puts my kids at ease. The staff in the office are often overly busy, but always polite. I have had several occasions to call the nurse for information and have always had my calls returned promptly. I have 4 kids and we have been going there for 10 years. I wouldn't trust anyone else in the area. The front desk staff is kind and competent. The billing department is helpful and thorough. I'm one of those people who believe in spacing vaccines, home birthing, extended breastfeeding, tandem breast-feeding etc. I have 1 child with special needs and dietary restrictions. Dr. Michael Starbuck just accepts me completely and works with me to keep my family healthy. He knows his stuff and has referred me to some of the best specialists around. He is kind and thoughtful and we never feel rushed. I hate to rave so much because it's hard to get an appt with him sometimes, but even if you have to get a physicians assistance, they are all more then sufficient in their expertise and advice. read more

I have taken my three children here since my oldest was 6 months old, she's now over 8 years old. We were seeing Dr. Michael, and I adore him, but we switched because my oldest wanted to see a girl doctor instead. So now we see Dr. Katherine. Both doctors are great. Very patient, very kind, gentle, and take the time to listen and answer questions. We've also seen some of the PAs there and they have all been fantastic as well. I had my second two in a birth center and Dr. Michael didn't even bat an eye. He even did the circumcision on my son since he wasn't born in a hospital even though it's not something he does very often any more. They let me hold my kids for vaccines rather than holding them down on a table. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. I've always gotten prompt calls back from the nurses when I have questions. They don't automatically insist I come in just because I have a concern or question. Sometimes they can be answered over the phone. They don't just prescribe drugs for every little concern like some doctors. They only use them when they are actually 100% necessary, like for strep throat. They aren't going to give you antibiotics when it's a virus, which is exactly what I was looking for. I will stay with this practice until my kids don't see a pediatrician anymore. We might go back to using Dr. Michael for my son if he is insistent on a male doctor and keep Dr. Katherine for my two girls. read more

We found this office through our insurance company after being unhappy with the doctor they assigned us at the hospital. The office gets pretty busy but they make sure everyone gets taken care off. The doctors are not pushy and are easy to talk to with concerns. I had to stop breastfeeding and they did not make me feel bad about it. The staff are also friendly and pretty decent to get along with. I would absolutely recommend this place and plan on going here for as long as I can! read more

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR INFANTS HERE! From a mother who went through one of the most traumatizing experiences of my life I'm begging you to reconsider if you're bringing your newborn baby here! Our son was born with a blood disorder which required frequent blood test screenings in order to make sure his body was able to continue fighting off specific antibodies. We spent a week in the NICU after he was born, each day he would receive a heal poke in order to test his blood. We decided to take our child here as we called ahead of time, as did our doctors in the NICU to guarantee this was something they had experience with and felt comfortable monitoring and they all assured us they did. We brought our son in for his two week appointment in which he would need a blood draw and they brought in 2 nurses and proceeded to HOLD OUR CHILD DOWN AND TRY TO DRAW BLOOD FROM HIS ARM!!!!! He was 2 weeks old!!!! Naturally he screamed and tried to wiggle away from them, and by the end of it it was clear there was something wrong with our baby as he wouldn't calm down and was horrified of EVERYONE!! It was QUITE clear they had no idea what they were doing and this traumatizing experience resulted in a trip to the ER that night as it exposed a heart conditioned that was triggered by this awful experience! WE ALMOST LOST OUR TWO WEEK OLD BABY AS A RESULT! His HR was over 300 BPM and was flight for lifed to children's hospital where we spent another week. The irony is that this pediatrician called us to tell us his blood counts were normal after their test; however, our ER doctor said they were once again critical and would immediately need to have two emergency blood transfusions to stabilize him before they could even begin to treat his heart condition!! The unprofessionalism of this pediatrician blows my mind, and when I spoke with her after these nurses held my baby down all she had to say was "this is standard practice!" How DARE you! On top of this they also had to prick his heel twice for other tests, why not take an additional sample for our blood test as he had received MULTIPLE times in the NICU and hematologist office? If I wasn't held back by my husband I was ready for a legal suit of malpractice against this office. Please reconsider a different pediatrician office! This disgusts me and I will never allow anyone I know to be treated by this office. read more
