We love it here! We switched pediatricians when our son was 2 weeks old (not because anything bad happened, they didn't take our insurance after all.) It was okay with us. Because we found Peds West. And we see Dr. Nagel. He's so chill and as a first time mom, I have a lot of questions. And he answers them. We love it here and we trust them with our son. I never have to worry and I feel like we found a great doctor for our kid. What else can you ask for. Everyone is so friendly here including the front desk and the nurses. They all adore my son. He's becomes quite an entertainer. lol. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for care for their little ones. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I feel like new parents who are choosing a pediatrician's office/or those shopping for a new pediatrician, should be forewarned about this practice. We have been with the practice for almost 15 years and, at the beginning, it was an amazing place. Over our time there it has gone downhill and the care has been sub-par at best. The atmosphere is cold and it seems like the people who work there are miserable. Dr. Bacon is, quite honestly, a jerk and never seems to remember my children, despite the amount of years we have been seeing her. She has missed numerous things over the years - some serious. Katie, her NP, is dismissive and rude. If you do choose this practice, stay away from Bacon and Katie. read more

I don't normally write reviews. This is about our kids healthcare though, it's important. It's not a restaurant review. So, I wanted to share our experience. We have been going to Pediatrics West for 14 years, since my oldest was born. It has always been " okay." Not terrible, but not great either. We chose them initially because they are located next door to the hospital my daughter was born at. It has kind of a cold atmosphere, not the friendliest people. It has gotten worse recently, kind of a dark mood at the place. We are switching Pediatricians for a few other reasons as well. We have moved further, the kids are older now. I'm an RN myself, and I understand how difficult healthcare is. There are many challenges. However, I would recommend looking for somewhere a little more warm and friendly. Somewhere with a little bit more positive of a culture. read more

Parents!!!!! Watch what you are signing! These practitioners will go to the State before they come to you in regards to the care of your children. In the paperwork, it states that you are consenting to give the practitioners at Pediatrics West the right to give your children birth control, perform abortions, give psychotropics and other drugs and other things to your children without your consent. The PA was aggressive and pushing the boundaries of what the scope of her work is. We were extremely shocked and actually enraged at the care!!!! It's more of a machine to purport the agendas of big pharma and big government! Beware!!!! read more

As a fellow physician I have high expectations of my kids primary care. Dr Applegate and Stephanie the PA have always met these expectations. They are warm, kind, professional and they clearly practice evidence based medicine. I have found Dr Applegate's suggestions extremely helpful. She always knows how to reassure a dad who knows too much for his own good. The office is also well run and the staff is friendly and knows how to answer all my questions. This place rocks. They were able to see my daughter the next day when I called 5 minutes before they closed the night before. The office was clean, colorful, and comfortable. The receptionists are so nice! We only waited a few minutes until we were called back into the exam room, which was decorated so cute! The nurses are always nice to us, except one who I just don't click with. Dr. Applegate is my daughter's main pediatrician and she is a.m.a.z.i.n.g! I couldn't have asked for anyone better. She explained so much to us that she didn't need to and it helped us a lot during those first few days home. She was very nice and understood my concerns about everything. She explained what she was doing as she did the exam so I felt informed. I love the fact that I can message the pediatricians there with concerns any time, day or night. I've done this twice already in 3 months and have gotten a call back within the hour. The nurse who has called has been very polite and knowledgeable, offering advice but also letting me know I could come in if I was still worried. The Patient Portal is nice too. I can confirm appointments right online. I like that they have walk-in Saturday urgent care hours as well. My only quarrel is that I wish I could schedule well-child visits online. But eh, that's not a big deal. read more

After experience with two other pediatricians, I absolutely love Dr. Applegate and her PA Steph. They have gone above and beyond when I've had a really sick kid, including calling me a 6pm to check on him after we'd been in their office for three hours that day. I had been through this exact same illness (RSV) with my children at another ped (who I did like but was too far away) and didn't realize how much more attention they should have given them until I wale to this practice. Steph and Dr. Applegate are extremely caring, kind and compassionate as well as thorough and capable. I can't say enough great things about this place. read more

When we first moved to the Lakewood area, we initially started off at a "crunchy" pediatricians office over in centennial. Because they had some similar views on parenting, I felt that the drive out there was worth it. But after a few visits, I was totally turned off by this practice and was in need of a good pediatrician. I am so thankful we found this practice, especially Dr. Applegate and her pa Stephanie. At our first visit, Dr. Applegate got down on our son's (who was then 2) level and just observed him and his development. She offered him a pen and a piece of paper, and let him draw and talk (as best he could ) while she and I discussed him. When she entered the room, all fears were set aside and I felt the confidence that she was the right doc for us. And Stephanie is phenomenal, we love her and her energetic spirit. She's very knowledgeable and has my trust. My only knock is that one of the nurses isn't super friendly, and the times we've had her she doesn't exude the level of confidence both Dr. Applegate and Stephanie have. All of the other staff, from the lovely front desk ladies to the other nurses have been so friendly and kind, I'm willing to look beyond one nurse's demeanor. Pediatrics west is awesome, and I recommend them to anyone. read more

We have seen Dr. Applegate (primary provider), her PA Stephanie, and Dr. Nagel at the practice and I'm so incredibly impressed with all of them. As first time parents I feel so supported and that not only my little boy is cared for but myself as well. We were worried our little guy had a reaction to his shots and Dr. A spent time really checking him over and reassuring us as well as emailing a day later to check in. I'm so so happy we found her and this practice... it's making first time parenting less scary!! read more

I wish I could review the doctors, but all I can review is the ridiculous wait to talk to a receptionist. It took me 15 minutes on hold to book my 4 month old baby's first appointment at this office. The day of her appointment, I spent another 15 minutes on hold to ask a simple question. By the time that 15 minutes was over and I got through to someone, I changed my mind and cancelled her appointment altogether. We will be going to another pediatrician whose office isn't so insanely difficult to get through to. read more

Nothing but the best to say about Dr. Nagel and his office! Always has lots of appointments available to see sick patients.

For a large hospital I was surprised they could see my baby an hour after I called (he is not a patient here). We had to wait about 25 minutes or so, but that's okay. The office gals were really nice and everything was clean. The nurse wasn't very talkative so did not come off as friendly, but that's ok she didn't evaluate my babe. We met with Dr. Applegate and holy cow I wanted to kidnap her and bring her back to the east coast. I guess I never saw an awesome doc until we met with her. She is super friendly and great with kids. Instead of trying to hold my baby down on the exam table we just sat knee to knee and used our legs as an exam table. I definitely recommend bringing your kids here- see Applegate if possible! Great location too... Beautiful park and coffee down the street. read more

We just met with Dr. Susan Fudge Erickson, MD, to interview her for baby's pediatrician. I was greatly impressed with her knowledge, her interest in discussing baby and our family, and her reputation among our friends. She appears to be a capable and compassionate option for baby's pediatrician. I cannot leave a 5 star review yet because baby has not quite arrived! read more

We toured a number of pediatricians offices and ended up selecting this one to care for us and our baby girl, and boy am I glad we did. The reason I say we chose them to care for us is because as first time parents we've had a ton of questions and concerns and the doctors, PA's and nurses have been spectacular. Oh, we can't forget the wonderful receptionists who have checked us in and chatted with us as we waited. We have used the nurses line a lot and they are SO nice and always get back to us in a timely manner. We've never waited more than a few minutes to be taken back to a room and the personal care is phenomenal. We never feel rushed and they have answered all our questions and concerns with kindness and understanding and great knowledge! Even when we've called last minute to be seen they've always been able to get us in. Oh, and they offer a Saturday morning urgent care. We haven't used it yet but I'm sure we will! I used to love Pediatrics West. Not so much anymore. I knew something was really wrong with my son and it took 5 visits last spring to finally get a chest xray ordered and sure enough,he had pneumonia. Finally found a PA there that I liked again (after the last one I loved left a few years ago) and now she is gone. I thought I'd give it one more shot, though, and went to make his well child visit appointment today and the receptionist I spoke to was just plain short / rude and that was my final straw. I feel like things have really changed there, unfortunately. read more

Dr. Fudge-Erikson use to be my pediatrician when I was young, she is now my little boys pediatrician. He was born over the weekend and we got him in first thing Monday morning for his first appt, I thought we may have to wait until Tuesday but they were very accommodating. Today we noticed it had been over 16 hours since he had a wet diaper, we called the triage nurse and they instructed us to come in right then. We saw Dr. Fudge-Erikson's P.A. Brittany, she was also very great and did spent about an hour with us. I'm glad I found my old pediatrician, I thought she was a good doctor then being her patient, and now I get to experience a different side if it now being the mother if the patient. read more

Doctor insisted that my baby could not be teething, without even looking! He had three teeth come in the next week. She also told us to let him cry it out at night, without even finding out if this fit our parenting philosophy. We've been working hard on sleep and did not appreciate the guilt over him not sleeping through the night yet. Definitely will not be going back. Nurse was great though! read more

We'd been there with our kids (2 and 4) and handful of times which had always been unremarkable but fine. But then we one had a TERRIBLE experience with our son and have never been back. I brought him in with a small cut on his head and they said it required staples. That itself was a time-consuming and traumatic process, but I suppose that's just how that procedure goes. But then, when we went back to have them removed, the PA used the staple remover UPSIDE DOWN AND DROVE THE STAPLES INTO HIS SKULL. I'm not sure how this even happened, as the tool is literally just like a staple remover that anyone could figure out how to use. She then tried a few more times and got the three staples so badly mangled into one another that they clearly could no longer be removed. They kind of shrugged and then told us to go to the emergency room immediately. The ER doc said that first, a cut so small that it never required staples in the first place and second that she had never ever seen this happen before. Pediatrics West never apologized or even called to check in after the ER visit, and then had the audacity to bill us for the visit. I would NEVER EVER recommend this practice. read more

If you happen to try another practice for a while and then come back (3 years or more), expect to be treated as a new patient and slapped with a more costly first visit! We took our daughter to Pediatrics West, the Littleton location, beginning at birth. After a year and a half or so, we switched to another practice, following our favorite doctor who left there to start his own practice. We didn't realize, and were not told, unfortunately, of the questionable circumstances of his departure from Pediatrics West. Fast forward to now, and after the problems surrounding that doctor came to light, our daughter was sick, and we decided to go back to Pediatrics West again. And we got hit with a bill for twice the normal visit cost as a "new patient." They admitted they still had all her records in the system, but for some reason they still thought they should get to extort extra money from us because we hadn't been seen by one of their doctors for a period of 3 years. This was pretty poor in my opinion. I have gone 5 years or more not seeing my doctor because I wasn't sick, and he didn't charge me a new patient fee when I did finally go back. I get that they are a pediatrics office, and so would expect to see patients more often, but that doesn't make it ok to charge a penalty to someone for returning to your practice. You would think they would be happy to have someone coming back rather than making it more of a financial hardship. There is no reason the visit should cost more; all the data is computerized and just as easy to pull up after 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years, and you easily pick up from there. Besides being overcharged for our return visit, we were reminded how cold and sterile their offices and overall attitude toward patients is. They may have good doctors, but we haven't experienced any shining stars since our initial evaluation visits of the practice 6 years ago. I guess we'll just have to find an office that actually cares about their patients and doesn't just treat them as statistics on a spreadsheet. ------ Review update: Pediatrics West did end up refunding us the difference in cost for the first-time vs. established patient visit. So, that was good, and as a result, I give one more star on my rating. read more

I can't believe I'm the first person to review this pediatric practice, but I am delighted to give it 5+++ stars! Our pediatrician here is Dr. Ronald Meyer, and he is just delightful. If you are a parent, you know how hard it is to find a pediatrician that you feel you can completely trust. Dr. Meyer is kind, patient, sweet, caring...he really listens to you and to the child. I have never felt that we were being rushed through (and this seems a very popular practice!). He talks to my son and sometimes has to give me a kind look that reminds me to shut my own mouth and learn how my kid feels about things. The staff here is really super, and they have a wonderful website with tons of information and a triage nurse to call with questions and concerns (our last concern was really silly, private, but worrisome nonetheless, and she was informative, funny, and took away the worry...) I don't know the other doctors here, but I would be they are all as great as Dr. Meyer. I wish he was MY doctor too!! read more

We started going to Pediatrics West in 2004 when our oldest was 18 months. I think we've seen most of the doctors although our pediatrician is Dr Shen Nagel- love Dr Nagel! I have to say though, my favorite are the nursing staff. I don't know where their nurses train but they are hands down the best pediatric nurses anywhere, especially when it comes to shots. I don't know how they do it, but they can get two vaccinations done before an infant can finish taking that big breath before screaming & the second two are done before they finish that first scream - fast is good when giving infant vaccinations - they are awesome! read more

I would not recommend this practice. The staff is incredibly rude and made me feel like I was stupid. I chose this facility after we moved and I regret it. My daughter has only been seen there once and each time I call or have to pick up a prescription for her they are not friendly. The staff are the people you talk and deal with more often and they need customer service training. read more

Lack of professionalism and unethical behavior, this was my experience after bringing my 4 month daughter to this office. Dr. Larissa Applegate saw my baby because she had some blood in her stool, she said it was the protein of the milk so I had to remove the lactose products from my diet since I'm Breastfeeding. I continued with soy milk on my coffee though, but later on after a month I noticed she was still having some trace of blood in her stools, so I called Pediatrics West to talk with Dr. Applegate I spoke with the nurse and she promised me the Dr was going to call me so I can tell her directly my concern, she didn't call at all. I called next day to the office and the Dr wasn't there apparently it was her "free day" hours later she called me and said that she was too busy yesterday to return my call, can you believe it??? my baby is only 4 months and she didn't care to call back to see what's going on!!!!! I questioned her about this and she said " well I told you to remove the dairy from your diet, and if you want to see me schedule an appointment until I go to the office" 2 days later. Please what type of parent will wait to see a doctor if have noticed blood on her baby stool and she her straining at night for long hours, what if it was something else??? Then I told the doctor I wanted to see someone else ASAP she said to schedule an appointment so they can do X Rays and check my baby out in more detail, we'll that was a lie, I went next day and. Dr Frederick saw me and she told me they can't do X Rays over there and that a GI ( gastrointestinal ) have to see her. And she also said just to remove the dairy from my diet, Dr Applegate just wanted me to go to her office to tell me the exact same thing she said over the phone and she lied saying they were going to check my baby in more detail. These doctors just want to make money by scheduling useless appointments. We need more honest and preoccupied doctors about our kids health, as patients we deserve to be heard and doctors need to put more attention and give us more of their time, they are not celebrities, we are the ones who paid them for their service. Then Dr Applegate had the nerve to tell me over the phone to go to another practice since they feel don't meet my needs, Of course SHE didn't meet my needs. But instead of apologizing she just got rid of her patient. Some doctors don't like to be questioned or feel doubts from their patients, wonder why is that???? As parents we have the right to ask as many questions as we want about our kids health, doctors feel intimidated by patients that's why they prefer to wash their hands and not to treat them anymore....Dr Applegate should be ashamed for her lack of professionalism, and she shouldn't be a pediatrician in my opinion. We have used Pediatrics West, specifically Dr. Shen Nagel, for 9.5 years. Even after moving a few hours away, we make the drive to see him. He is professional, courteous, and an absolutely incredible physician. When we recently had our third child, I contacted all the pediatricians in my area, to find one nearby (as newborns sometimes have urgent matters that come up), and was struck once more by how far and above average Dr. Nagel's level of expertise and care are. So we still take our newborn (now 5 months old) to see Dr. Nagel for each and every check. The nursing staff at Pediatrics West is also superb, and the triage nurse handles many issues over the phone, at no charge. Only ONCE in the 4 years we've been out of the area, has something come up that we could not handle with the triage nurse, or urgent enough not to make the long (but worthwhile) drive. We went to urgent care that one visit; all others have been handled by Dr. Nagel and his fine team. My friends all know how particular I am when it comes to my children's care. When they have had problems with their pediatricians (or the time comes to choose one), I refer them to Dr. Nagel. Thus far, I have referred at least half a dozen friends to Dr. Nagel over the years; they are as pleased with him and his staff as I am. read more

The front desk personal are not friendly and neither are the nurses. The best Dr here is Dr Meyer who is now leaving. The other 3 doctors I have seen are okay but I have never felt like they really care, even when my kids are really sick. Everyone is this office is very judgmental and pretty rude. I wait for 20 plus minutes in the waiting room and another 20 plus in the exam room, and that is when I have an appointment! The last straw was me bringing my daughter in who clearly had an ear infection and they would not squeeze her in, come on how long does it take to stick a light in her ear? We were good patients here for more then 4 years but I will not step another foot in the Lutheran office, and I suggest you do the same. read more

I used to love this place, they treated us with kindness and they were the only ones to listen to me when I knew that something was wrong with my little girl. But now the PA that I used to see isn't there anymore, and when I went in the other day we saw Sarah, a nurse practitioner, and she was rude, condescending, and didn't listen to me at all! I am not pleased to be writing this review, I have taken my child to this office multiple times and each time it seems to be one thing or another with the staff. Today was the last straw! My child is ill and has been seen in this office a couple times for the same reason and they seem to not be able to figure out what the problem is. This morning I called and left a message for Dana the PA and she called me back and stated that she wanted to see my child today, and made an appointment for me. I had an appointment at 11:30am and we signed in at 11:35am and took a seat in the waiting room. The reception staff called us to the desk at 11:50am and proceeded to tell me that they were unable to see us because they checked us in too late. I replied to her that we had been sitting in the waiting room for 15 minutes waiting for them and it was not our fault that they checked us in late. She still refused to see us, stating that the doctor went to lunch at 12:00pm and did not have the time to see us at that point!! I asked for the office manager and the ladies at the front desk looked at each other then I was told that she was on Vacation this week. I work in Parker and drove all the way up there just to be told that they would not see us!! Unbelievable! I myself work the front desk in a doctor's office and we do whatever we can to accommodate our patients so that they can get in and be seen. Apparently this office does not care about their patients or their well-being. The front desk staff is very rude and portrayed that it was not their problem that we were not seen and did not even offer any solution to the problem. The front desk also stated that if I had a complaint I needed to contact the doctor to complain, not them because she was the one that made the decision not to see us. Highly Doubtful! I am assured that my family and I will not be using their services again and we will find a new practice! read more

Overall, I have been generally satisfied with the care for all 3 of my children. However, they have made a change to the way they bill for families who choose to do an alternate schedule for immunizations. I have been doing a modified schedule for immunizations since 2010 and although I never felt 100% supported, they always fufilled my requests. I would just get an appointment for a nurse visit, perform the immunization I needed at the time and there was no charge for it just as there would be no charge for immunizations during a well check up. However, this last visit, I was charged for 2 office visits ($89.00 each) for each extra kid receiving an immunization. When I called to question the bill I received, I was told by the billing department that they had changed their procedures because there was in increase in the number of people doing a modified schedule, it takes extra work for the doctor to look up the child's records for the immunization needed, and they began charging for an office visit 6 months ago. I was a very disappointed there isn't a way for families to know these billing changes. I felt compelled to write a review for families who are interested in alternate schedules for immunizations who may find value in knowing that Pediatrics West has begun to charge for every visit you will need. read more
