They also over charge for typical procedures by orders of magnitude and pressure patients into letting them do procedures that other professionals who work with them recommend against doing. I got several dental implants back in 2020 and I am happy to report nearly 5 years later they are still as good as the day they went in. If considering implants Arverne Dental is the way to go. Two years after my work was completed Arverne Dental gave me a check for almost three thousand dollars for procedures my insurance company ended up covering. I went in early to see if I had to do any extra paperwork. We didn't even make it to my appointment because the gentleman started the upsell after he found out I had great insurance. We must refer you to an oral surgeon we must do x-rays we must do panoramic x-ray you will not be receiving any treatment today. These are his exact words. This is an emergency visit...! I have two impacted wisdom teeth on the top that need to come out as emergency extractions I have one filling that is extremely painful I needed to be filled immediately. This is all on the paperwork I filled out. I reiterated to the gentleman that I need this treatment today this is emergency visit that if he can't do it I will go to another dentist so then he charged me for the visit. Naturally i get upset and leave. After I leave he follows me outside to give me my ID that I left behind in disgust... he then starts to argue with me calling me a pussy trying to instigate a fight. I was visiting Rockaway and had A dental emergency.Now I usually use yelp for anything from restaurants to hardware stores and sometimes they are hit or miss.So I was A little nervous using yelp for something so important and personal like A dentist especially during these days of covid.Thankfully it was an incredible experience from beginning to end. The young lady who answered the phone was so friendly and efficient and everything was so high tech.She emailed me all the forms.Which was so easy to fill out on line and in no time they were escorting me into to see the dentist and that's when I really got blown away.Not only did everything look brand new but it was all so high tech.The most comfortable space age massage chair,tv's,monitors,x-ray machines etc. Now for the best part of it because everything I mentioned would mean nothing without A good dentist and she was not good she was great.After thoughtful analysis she figured out how to painlessly fix my tooth.Also,even knowing I was only visiting the area she pointed out some other issue's she noticed and suggested I should discuss them with my own dentist before they turned into more serious issues.She knew her stuff good things do come in small packages(you will actually need to be treated by her to see what I mean by that).Finally the bill and that was the final shock.I pay 4 times the amount with my usual dentist for the same services.I am not related to anyone in the office.I was not paid for this review.As A matter of fact this is only the 2nd review I have ever written.This was my personal experience and things are relative.In the end for me they transformed an awful emergency into A wonderful experience and for that I will always be grateful. read more

I made an appointment through Zocdoc for ProHEALTH Dental Howard Beach and I called the day before to confirm my appointment for the following day. I came to the dentist and they were CLOSED!! I spent 50 bucks on a Uber to get there and no one was there. I called Zocdoc back and for some reason they had a hard time trying to find a dentist nearby. So i googled a dentist around Far Rockaway and Dr. Taft's office popped up. I walked in as an emergency cause I was in excruciating pain. (Broken tooth, swollen gums). She took care of me. Dr. Taft was very compassionate. I'm very happy the pain is gone considering I had it for two weeks and it was hard for me to find a dentist because of my work schedule. Lets start off by saying scare tactics. Although the staff is welcoming and kind they are taught to scare you into procedures. The dentist herself is very forceful and condensending and undermines her staff. "Go away " was the term used by a hygienist to a staff member. They force you into very expensive procedures instead of trying to save your teeth and practically over charge your insurance and get the most money out of you instead of trying to work with you. Please get a second opinion if you go with this place because they will ruin teeth that are salvageable and propose pricey procedures after words since they already "dug things up" I went in because my filling that SHE put in came out and once I told them I needed time to arrange my $14,000 Bill, they almost refused to fill back my tooth and told me cvs has temporary filler I can buy and to "keep filling it till my tooth breaks, then the major decisions will happen". Consider all your options before you come here please. It's all money to them even though she acts like she cares. First off these people are rip offs and likes to push scare tactics and slam you with expensive treatment plans and very manipulative. But that's not the reason for this review and 1 star. Me and my mother set a time for 11:20 and they changed it to 11am then called to ask if I can come a hour later so 10 or 9:30 am if I can which they called me while sleeping. I turned down the rescheduling and proceeded to get there. My mother who drove me there which is a very bad neighborhood on arrival my mom spoke her opinion which I completely stand with her that they should not be moving my time everywhere and be upset when we don't conform to what they ask. The owner had a nasty attitude and the head dentist the woman aswell. They cut off my treatment because they wanted my mom to wait in the car as they ain't want her in the place because she asked for the owner name and head dentist since they threatened to cut off my treatment. They continued to be salty and felt like they ego was hurt so the manager genn or however you pronounce his name ordered the doctor who wanted to do the work not to move as if she was a soldier. Things got so out of hand that police had to be called. I do not recommend this place to anybody and if your reading this right now especially if your black or person of color or simply if ya not white!
