34th Street Dental has been my primary location for all my needs, and for the most part, I had a wonderful experience. The only negative times I had at this place was when I was a child many years ago. I had a female doctor who just hated me for no reason. She refused to have any tact when telling me I had cavities, and cemented this feeling of insecurity in myself that still resonates. There was even a time where she wasn't my primary doctor for a day, yet she asked the doctor who was caring for me if I had cavities. When that doctor told her yes, she scoffed and rolled her eyes. I'll admit that maybe I wasn't the best at dental hygiene, but doctors like her don't help their patients improve by humiliating them. That kind of blatant behavior pushes people away from dentists because they grow fearful of their harsh judgement. With all that being said, I hadn't seen her since and I like to think it's because she was reported and fired from that company. Every other doctor I've had has been kind and considerate of my feelings. I'll never forget one who comforted me when I had yet another cavity, even though I worked really hard to prevent it. He said that as a child, he too had a bunch of cavities because his teeth were naturally sensitive. That was when I learned I had sensitive teeth myself. So when I had friends that bragged about never having cavities even though they never brushed their teeth right, I could at least find solace in the fact that I was born with a disadvantage and I truly did all I could to stay healthy. Aside from customer service, the lobby and offices are very clean. There are two kiosks where you can do self check-in, although when I arrived they weren't working. Still, it's convenient, along with the many comfortable chairs you can sit in while watching TV or reading magazines. They also have a restroom at the end of the hallway and you can use an elevator to reach the 2nd floor where they are located. Lastly, they do accept payment out of pocket and without attitude. I felt the need to express that for those struggling getting dental insurance. Plus, with my bad experience in the past, I became hyper aware of people's emotions and words. I recently lost my insurance, and I feared that paying without it would set me up to be mocked, but that never happened, and for that and more, 34th Street Dental's service is healing my self-esteem. This office is horrible. Their goal is to maximize profit. If your insurance covers 19 X-rays, they'll give you 19 X-rays, even if you don't need them. Their focus is profit, not patients. The assistants and X-ray techs try to bully you into unnecessary costs. One assistant tried to tell me my teeth were going to fall out if I didn't do what she said. I had my first appointment today, Monday August 12, 2020. The office was nice and clean. Chairs were spaced for social distancing. The front desk receptionists were nice and professional. The X Ray technicians were nice and professional. The hygienist was nice and gave a really good cleaning. I forgot my Doctor's name, but she was nice and attentive. My only complaint is that they need to do some deep cleaning. You know when you sit up to rinse and spit? Well that area had some some build up of dirt, yuck. She was super awesome and once I told her I was here on my lunch break she completed my full deep cleaning in 45 mins ! The girls at the front desk was quick , kind and efficient also they were able to gather my records from the 42st location quickly. I would give this place 15 stars if I could! I've seen various dentists for the past few years at 34th Street Dental and everyone has been great, but I just completed the process of getting veneers with Dr. Le and was especially pleased. I have never had such a pleasant experience at a dentist or any medical professional in my life. Dr. Le is a gem! She cares SO much and will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable and have the perfect smile. Brandon who handles billing and insurance is amazing too. I had some insurance issues and he did everything he could to make sure I got the best price possible for my veneers. I called the front desk so many times when I was trying to figure out my insurance and the front desk staff were so nice to me every time. And I cannot finish this review without mentioning that this dentist is next door to the best bagels I've ever had (and I've lived in NY my whole life). It's called Best Bagels & Coffee. This is an avg doctor's office. You get your teeth clean and get out. They do all the usual stuff like harass you to get your wisdom teeth pulled out of an abundance of caution. I've been going here for years because it's close to my office, but I've decided to switch because of the following reason. So about six months ago, I had a Noon appointment, but the dentist had some issues and couldn't see me till 12:30. I thought nothing of it and got my teeth clean. I got back to the office, an emergency had happened, and I thought to myself, damn, only if my appointment started on time could I have avoided this work issue. Now six months later, I have another doctor's appointment; I arrived 20mins late because I was stuck on a train that had a sick passenger. When I got to the office, the "Dentist" was at "lunch," I was told I could wait an hour so she could finish or reschedule. These people do not care about your time. You're a product to them like most other dentist's offices which there are plenty of. So find one that will treat your time with respect. Never let a doctor or dentist's office abuse your time; replace them. read more

My cleaning was great and they renovated the office and patient area lounge but, if you're not prepared to stand on your feet then this is not the place for you. The new chairs are so small only a toddler can fit to sit down, they were ordered with arm rest which prohibits a person with a wider physique to sit down. They did not think of the person with wide hips when ordering these chairs. The receptionists didn't even offer me a chair from the office to sit down. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. looks like more needs to be done and you hope they will make slight changes for patients having to wait. read more

I've been coming here for a while now for regular clean ups. However, in my recent visits, things have gone a little sideways. The endodontist who frequents this office (not sure if he's changed) told me upon a very lackluster observation that I needed a root canal on a tooth. I was very skeptical and sought a second opinion from a different office. The endo there was visibly shocked when she asked why I thought I needed a root canal and said I don't need one. The hygienists have become rough lately. In my latest cleaning (Feb 2020), they were so rough that I felt that they were going to crack my teeth. At the end, my mouth was sore for a week. However, the dentists are very nice and always want to make sure things are okay. read more

Alan Rosales is a horrible horrible dentist. He shamed me and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The first experience was so horrible I specifically asked to never see this dentist again. Even the dental assistant apologized to me for his behavior. Then due to them mixing up my appointments, I was booked in to see him again recently. He was the same again. Mubled insults under his breath. Shamed me telling me I clearly don't take care of my teeth because I have filling. I have a medical condition that is known to cause tooth decay so I look after my teeth as much as humanly possible and to be shamed in such a degrading way is awful. He also looked at my mouth while standing up and touched his upper genital region against my ear. When I tried to move my head away he pulled it back. I felt violated and burst into tears on my way out. He is clearly a disgusting human. NEVER EVER will go back to that practice. To be clear the other dentists are lovely but I will never risk being violated like that again. read more

Great dental practice! I've never experienced the "sell mode" either that another reviewer spoke of. I've only experience quality service. I've had multiple standard cleanings now and they have all been great. Appointment started promptly on time, very thorough with all the X-Rays, great cleaning experience, dentists all were very information in how I can be more proactive in keeping my teeth healthy, the facilities were immaculate, and I've always been treated with care. I would def recommend going here for your dental needs. I had gone to other dental offices prior where my appointments never started on time, I'd be there for hours on end and they didn't seem to give me the same care that I received here. Went in today for a general cleaning and for some x-Rays. The staff were super duper nice. The person who was going my x-Rays (don't remember her name) was extremely sweet and was concern if I was in pain in any ways. My hygienist Jackie was sooo nice! She took her time cleaning my teeth and was so helpful and really painless. Spoke to Dr. Lazar and he was pretty nice and explain a few of my concerns regarding my X-rays. I had been a patient here for a number of years . Unfortuanately once the pandemic occurred . Things changed dramatically . I am not talking about masks, staff or the office it self . I was promised that my daughter could come back to fix her Invisalign . What happened was her wisdom teeth impacted and it shifted her teeth . They did not take the proper exrays and did not see the impacting . However , the owner advised they would honor and have new trays done . Then the pandemic happened . When my daughter was finally able to come back to the office it was the end of the year . The dentist said let's wait until the new year . My daughter had to have 10 filings and thought we could wait until that work was completed . Also to get more benefits after the new year . We waited . When she finally returned the dentist said the dentist said they couldn't honer it because we took so long to come back . Their was nothing said in writing a time frame in which the work had yo be done . I tried yo talk to the owner . He stated yelling at me ranting about what do I want and not letting speak. Went to Dr. Rosales. I had two really bad chipped front teeth - and every dentist I went to did an OK job with the bonding. Dr Rosales blew it out of the water. My teeth look excellent now - you would never know I chipped them. He is professional, courteous, honest, skilled, and has a great bedside manner. I am saddened and disappointed to write this review as I've been a patient at 34th Street Dental for 6 years. As always 34th Street Dental phoned me yesterday to confirm my filling and cleaning in which I was on a waitlist for. During the call the female asked me if I would like to do the cleaning as well at 115 p.m. and my filling was already scheduled for 2 p.m. I agreed and thanked her. Today I received a voicemail telling me that they have two options open for a cleaning 115 p.m. and 2 o'clock I was confused by the voicemail as I confirmed BOTH procedures on the call with the female yesterday 08/10/23 WHEN SHE PHONED ME TO CONFIRM. I called the office back and expressed this and attempted to confirm the cleaning again for 115 p.m. at which time they told me the time was no longer available as it was offered to another patient i've been WAITING 3 MONTHS FOR THIS APPOINTMENT. I said well apparently that was an oversight on the scheduling desk because I was called YESTERDAY to confirm my filling APPT. and scheduled for the cleaning at 115 p.m. the woman I was going back and forth with expressed that she understood where I was coming from but they are fully booked and a cleaning is not available. I stated yes because as you mentioned you gave my appointment to another patient Anyhoops long story short I've waited for a manager to call me and apparently shes been in a 3 hour meeting Ultimately the scheduling error was on their part and after 6 years of being a patient there they did not accommodate me or even attempt to rectify the situation and explain to the other patient that they were scheduled in error NOTHING at all. I canceled the filling and will NEVER return here as a patient as it didnt matter that I've been coming there for 6 years NOR WAS THERE ANY ACCOUNTABILITY FOR GIVING MY APPOINTMENT AWAY. MIND YOU I AM IN HEALTHCARE AS WELL AND PROVIDE SCHEDULING TO PATIENTS I AM APPALLED AND DISAPPOINTED. IT IS SAD to add insult to injury to NOT HEAR BACK FROM THE MANAGER PATHETIC!! NEVER AGAIN. This place is the worst - you are basically tossed around from dentist to dentist. Every time I've made an appointment here I end up with a different dentist and one is always worse than the last. In January I made an appointment here because I was having tooth pain and I wanted to make sure I didn't have a cavity. They took some x-rays and I met with the dentist and he told me nothing was wrong with me and I was fine. In March I had an appointment for a cleaning, but I was also having tooth pain in the same place and wanted to make sure I didn't need a root canal. Did some x-rays and the dentist told me that I need to have my wisdom teeth out at some point because they are impacted but that there is nothing wrong with my tooth and I just need to floss more. Fast forward to June and I end up in the ER for tooth pain and then had an emergency root canal and wisdom tooth extracted. I KNEW I HAD SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY TOOTH YOU IDIOTS. Useless. read more

The people here are very much in sell! sell! sell! mode. Well aware that medical/dental fees are outrageous if not covered by insurance, I first confirmed with the front desk that the office accepted my insurance and that it would cover the fees. They agreed vehemently that it would. I started with a routine checkup and they ended up first taking 20+ xrays as part of the 'standard' cleaning. Along the way they tried to sell me an electric toothbrush and a set of Invisaline services ($2000+). Total cost of one routine checkup and teeth cleaning: $500+. They actually billed my CC for $300 and totally ignored my letter of complaint. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

They overcharge your insurance which is a major problem, especially if you have a cap on how much your insurance company will spend per year. $300 charged to my insurance company for a 5 minute "free" consultation. Estimates for dental work: $10,000, and when I went elsewhere, it was way less than half that for the same work.
