    Ribeye

Had a great experience at Arya Steakhouse! The ribeye was full of flavor and the mac and cheese was delicious as well. The only minor issue was that the steak was a little overcooked since I ordered it medium rare, but I still really enjoyed it. The ambiance was nice and inviting, and the service was okay. Overall, a tasty meal and I'd definitely come back.

This is an amazing steakhouse that I never knew existed. Ambience was great. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Not much more to say. The tomahawk was enough to feed three people with moderate appetites (but if you're an athlete you could probably finish the tomahawk by yourself). Highly recommend this place and will definitely be taking friends and family here.

Enjoyed both the excellent Persian cuisine and warm ambiance, but our particular server's repeated attempts to upsell us on additional dishes was slightly off-putting... As it was, the portions were quite hearty, yielding abundant leftovers for our party of 2. Our picks: Appetizers - Mast o Khiar (yogurt & cucumber dip) - Grilled Octopus Entrees - Chicken & Beef Kabob Combo (boneless chicken, beef koobideh, grilled tomato) - for an upcharge, we substituted Persian "Shirazi" Salad (tomato, persian cucumber, onion, lemon dressing) for the basmati & saffron rice that usually accompanies this dish - Ghormeh Sabzi (herb, beef, dried limes, kidney beans, rice) Dessert - Dubai Cheesecake - Turkish Coffee

Arya Steakhouse feels like one of those hidden gems you're glad you discovered. It's more low-key compared to bigger steakhouse chains, but the quality absolutely holds its own. The steaks were cooked perfectly -- tender, flavorful, and exactly how we asked. You can tell they focus on doing the basics really well, without overcomplicating things. What stood out to me most was the atmosphere. It's elegant but not overly formal, which makes it perfect for both date nights and relaxed dinners. Service was warm and attentive, and the staff made sure everything flowed smoothly throughout the meal. Overall, if you're looking for a high-quality steakhouse in Palo Alto without the overwhelming crowd or hype, Arya is definitely worth trying.

Our experience here definitely was outstanding from start to finish. Parking usually is not a hassle as there are a couple of parking lots that can be used depending on the time of the day, for parking needs. Richard was our host, and he was absolutely amazing, attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced throughout the evening, making sure everything flowed smoothly. We started with a side of vegetables that turned out to be vibrant, colorful, and beautifully prepared. Each vegetable tasted fresh and well-seasoned, making it a standout side rather than an afterthought. We ordered the Ash Soup (Aash Reshteh) along with that and it definitely was comforting, hearty, and full of depth. Warm, flavorful, and made with care exactly what you want in a traditional Persian soup. Ready to eat some steak, we ordered the Dry-Aged Ribeye . The presentation was stunning, and the steak itself was cooked to perfection rich, tender, and packed with flavor. Every bite was fresh, juicy, and deeply satisfying. Along with that we also ordered Fesenjoon, beautifully balanced with its signature sweet-and-tangy notes, tasting rich, fresh, and incredibly comforting. The ambiance was awesome and it definitely was elegant yet welcoming, making it a great spot for a special lunch/dinner/meal or a relaxed upscale evening. Exceptional food, thoughtful presentation, warm ambiance, and Richard's fantastic service definitely made for a memorable dining experience.

Started off with the pomegranate meatballs and it was super rich and meaty. I would get it again! We got the filet mignon and kebab combo. The filet mignon was life changing and perfect, and definitely stole the show, but the kebabs weren't fatty as I normally like it. Ended the night with a complimentary anniversary dessert! I would love to try more of their steak! Service was friendly and very attentive.

I stopped by on a weekday for their lunch. They had a lunch menu, which was 3 course for $36. That was excellent value. Everything I had tasted authentic and was flavorful. Borani bademjan was my favorite appetizer. That was mashed eggplant, and was super flavorful. Sambosa was my other appetizer and that was excellent as well. Fesenjoon stew was rich and flavorful. That was a new kind of taste for me and I liked it. Braised lamb shank was my other entree. Lamb was cooked tender. Soup base was thin and flavorful. Persian ice cream was an interesting kind of ice cream to try. It was good. Baklava was my other dessert, and it came with a scoop of ice cream. That was a nice dessert as well. Overall lunch special is really good value.

Lovely local steakhouse that took my reservations on the same day! I read the reviews and I was very excited to experience the spin on their menu. As we walked in the door, the host and several others greeted us kindly. I was with one colleague and waiting for my clients to arrive. They seated us anyway which I really appreciated! The space was very nice and the temperature in the restaurant and ambiance were perfect. We enjoyed a cocktail as we waited and a few nice chats with staff as they brought us water and drinks. When everyone arrive the food started to come and so did the great Willamette Valley Pinot we ordered! The service was outstanding and so were all our dishes. From steaks to more regional dishes, everyone was impressed. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Seriously soooo so good! Probably one of the best steak I've had in the bay! Their bone in New York steak was cooked to perfection! I also got their chicken and beef kabob with adas polo rice which tasted so good and unique. Our server Jennifer was also amazing! Great service that definitely made our experience 10 times better. She was super nice and helpful. Definitely make a reservation and check it out!

    ghormeh sabzi and saffron rice
    Jim M.

This review is based mostly on the dish that I ordered. I had the ghormeh sabzi, which is a very typical Iranian dish. I have to say that it was just OK -- it lacked salt, which did help when added. It was served with saffron rice, which was good. It was also served with a piece of tahdig, which was almost too crunchy, hard to bite -- not like I've had before. For the rice, I expected better. I'll tell you what it lacked -- a richness and depth of beef flavor that I want in any beef dish. No, I'm not Persian but I've had ghormeh sabzi elsewhere and I've made it myself. This place is a "Persian steakhouse." So maybe if I'd ordered a steak I would have been more impressed. On the plus side: the atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff was great -- especially the bartender who served me.

We wanted to take our daughter to a nice dinner while visiting her at Stanford and give her a break from dorm food. I found this restaurant was close to campus and offered a nice variety of options for our family. Food 4/5: we ordered an assortment of items, including the Caesar salad, the mushroom soup, the Wagyu burger, the salmon, the bread basket, and the shrimp appetizer. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. Service 5/5: from the moment we checked in and we brought to our table the service was top-notch. Granted we were there at 5 PM and only the second table seated, however, as the restaurant filled up while we were there, we noticed each table had several servers attending to them. Excellent excellent service! Vibe 5/5: I loved the ambience with the music in the background and the decor - plus everything was absolutely spotless, including the bathrooms. Tips: if you cannot find street parking, there is a free parking garage directly behind the restaurant. There are also 3 tables outside on the street nicely tucked into private alcoves. And I noticed several private rooms for large parties and events. I am making a mental note already!

Since we had a great time during our last visit, I brought my mom for her first time and she loved it! She's a picky eater but absolutely enjoyed everything about our dinner and our experience. Everything we had here was great, esp their grilled octopus starter. Very soft and not rubbery like usual octopus. The main highlight was the tomahawk steak cooked perfectly medium rare. They always do a sweet gesture of bringing out the whole steak for some pics before they take it back to cut. Camera always eats first lol thank you guys!! Best steak and pretty much on the same tier as Fleming's steak (another of my faves) and it's nice they give you so many dressings and sauce add ons to throw on top but the steak itself is literal perfection. Staff is very warm and service is nothing short of excellent. I say that truly because they saw it was my mom's birthday and every little gesture made her so happy! A small note, a pretty birthday dessert. We always have a lovely time. Thank you guys :)

Our server was sweet, and mostly there when we needed her. Here's what we ate: We shared DOUBLE-FRIED TEMPURA MUSHROOMS shimeji & oyster mushrooms, whipped tofu, yuzu, sweet soy, togarashi, chives | $16: 3.5 *. The mushrooms were delicious and so crispy, but not overdone. The "whipped Tofu, etc. was kind of plopped on the side and had NO flavor. I saw no evidence of the chives or togorashi CAESAR SALAD romaine hearts, garlic croutons, parmigiano reggiano tuile, house caesar dressing | $20: 3.5*. Pretty much standard issue. the lettuce was very tender and fresh For my entreé I chose ROASTED SCALLOPS day boat scallops, snap peas, parsnips puree, orange-soy glaze | $46 4*. Portion was small, only 3 scallops (hmmm ~$15 per scallops) The scallops were a tad under for me, but nicely caramelized and the accompanying peas and glaze were a delicious pairing. I usually find parsnip pureé to sweet, but this one had just the right balance. G got ROASTED MARY'S CHICKEN garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken jus | $34. 3.5* This was a huge portion, like half a chicken. She absolutely loved the potatoes. I think the chicken was just okay, nothing special and the skin wasn't crispy. For dessert we split a butterscotch pudding topped with fresh fruit. It was a wonderful rich creamy flavor, but very tiny - 4-5 oz. I don't remember the price, but I think it was like $20 3.5* On balance, creative, some highlights. We were sat right away and immediately ordered a bunch of things to share as we'd been dreaming about this meal all day. Lucky for us, all the food started coming out of the kitchen so quickly! The gambas al ajillo were plump, juicy, garlicky. The crab croquetas just melt in your mouth immediately and are rich in flavor. Even the cauliflower appetizer such was a pleasant surprise. The flavor of that romesco sauce and the texture of the cauliflower were both perfect. The wagyu empanadas were just okay to be honest and I'd skip it next time and opt for more of the croquetas. We then shared the paella mixta which was so savory and so delicious. The crispy rice bits at the bottom always make for my favorite bites. We get extra aioli on the side to eat with the seafood. Finally we got the dessert sampler which came with churros, an orange mousse, and a Catalan toast dessert with ice cream. The toast was my absolute favorite, crisp exterior and luxuriously fluffy inside all caramelized with a side of ice cream. I may just get the full version of that dessert next time though the other two were still good. The churros were solid and the mousse tasted like a creamsicle. It had what tasted like a white chocolate shell around that was still soft. The mousse did start to melt pretty quickly so I'd say eat that one quickly Overall I was happy with almost everything we ordered. The service was quick and attentive. Now I'm definitely looking forward to my next trip back here

Top notch service, vibes, and food!…read more I visited on a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. The Sangria flight was a great way to start and share. The spicy sangria was surprisingly my favorite! It was savory and strong. I was a huge fan of the patatas bravas and the crab croquetas. They were the perfect appetizers. Then came the aim attraction: the fiesta paella. It had the best that Telerific had to offer: ribeye, lobster, chicken, and pork belly. A truly luxurious meal. The proteins were seasoned and cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the Spanish rice. I was incredibly impressed with the experience overall and look forward to my next visit!

We are so happy we did - the experience was wonderful, and the staff made the evening truly special. From the welcoming hostess, to the bartender, and finally our server, Justin, everyone made us feel appreciated and taken care of. Justin was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. We were surprised when he shared that he had only been working there for less than a month because he carried himself with the confidence, professionalism, and warmth of someone who had been there much longer. The food was fantastic, but the service is what truly made our anniversary celebration memorable. Justin went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and his genuine enthusiasm really stood out. We also felt especially welcomed when the manager, Sohiel, stopped by our table to greet us and spent some time chatting. He shared how proud he is to be part of the team, and his warmth, passion, and genuine energy were truly appreciated. We had such a wonderful evening and will definitely be returning to the Palo Alto location. Thank you

From the lively atmosphere to the warm hospitality, it's the kind of place where you lose track of time because you're too busy enjoying great food and even better company. If it's your first visit, the Seafood Ajiaco is a must. The combination of stewed lobster tails, clams, and shrimp in a rich tomato bisque is packed with flavor and perfect for sharing. The Paella Cubana is another standout, loaded with shrimp, chicken, chorizo, and mussels, comfort food with a Cuban twist. After dinner, head to the back patio. Grab a cigar, pour yourself a Havana Club Añejo Especial (or a dark rum if that's your style), and settle in for good conversations and even better memories. It's one of those rare spots where the experience is just as memorable as the meal. Yelp Elite Tip: Don't rush this one. Come hungry, stay for dessert, then make your way to the patio. The best part of the evening starts after dinner.

Definitely a family style dinner, order multiple things to try! Made a reservation couple weeks in advance for a week night dinner for 2. Celebrated our anniversary and couldn't be more happy we came to Ethel's Fancy. Service was great, everyone was friendly and explained the menu and process. Helped making some personal recommendations and the food came out quickly. The only dish that came out very slowly was the dessert, we did wait about 25 - 30 minutes just for the softserve, but all other dishes came out in a moderate time. Rouge de Bordeaux Milk Bread, comes with cultured amazake butter and some salt. Comes out super warm, puffy, and soft. Very nice pull and the butter is super decadent. Very great take on a japanese shokupan, we were hesitant at first, but it makes for a good appetizer 5:5 Warm Sesame Pancakes were like those mini sesame mochi pancakes at chinese dim sum, but the texture was slightly airy. The sauce to accompany it was unlike anything i've had, smoked trout, avocado and yuzu. The avocado was not over powering and the cream on top was whipped. Amazing pairing. 5/5 Sashimi of Kanpachi, japanese cucumber salad as the base and dressing with the kanpachi sashimi. I will say this was the weakest dish of the night. While still good, it was a bit too tart, it overpowered the other natural flavors. Fish was still very good, tender and not fishy, but again, over powered but all the tartness in the dish. 3/5 Yellowfin Tuna on sushi rice - this was a great shareable plate of upscale poke. The tuna was great, no fishy taste, perfectly seasoned and the smoked kira had an amazing pop of flavor. Very rich and decadent dish, absolutely loved the harmony of a slight smokey flavor to the nice rich, umami savoriness. 5/5 Crispy Caledonian Prawns - Absolute star of the night. We could not stop talking about these prawns. Big plump prawns, fried perfectly, where the prawn itself was not dry but the shell had a shatteringly crispy exterior definitely slightly coated with a starch to give it a nice crunch. The chili ramp sunomono was a great touch, not spicy at all but added a great touch of flavor that complimented the crispy prawns. Could devour plates of these! 6/5! Sword-Fish Katsu Style - A great take with sword fish, flakey but not overcooked, great thin crispy katsu. Accompanied by kumquat and cauliflower, helps cut down the greasiness. The sauce with it was a buttery tart sauce. This was a lot better where the tartness helped the fried fish. It was like eating a fried fish burger without the buns. I really enjoyed this one. 5/5 Lastly we ordered a softserve with peaches, shokupan croutons and a caramel dressing. We had to wait about 25 minutes just for the small softserve so we were a bit surprised as other dishes came out relatively quickly or in an orderly fashion. It still tasted great as a little small dessert but definitely was surprised by how long it took. 3/5 Overall, we were very happy with our experience at Ethel's and it definitely lives up to the standard it sets. I can't wait for other new dishes to try and come back in the future.

I have a severe tree nut allergy. Before ordering, I informed our server of my allergy and asked him to identify every dish that contained nuts so I could safely participate in our family-style business dinner. He assured me he would take care of it and specifically pointed out one dish that contained hazelnuts. Later, a golden beet dish was served to the table with no mention that it contained cashews. After taking a few bites, my tongue immediately began tingling. When I asked if the dish contained nuts, our server had to go back to the kitchen to check. He returned and explained that the dish did, in fact, contain cashews and that he didn't know they had recently been added to the recipe. This is exactly the type of mistake allergy protocols are supposed to prevent. Even after it was confirmed that the dish had triggered an allergic reaction, the plate remained on our table until I specifically asked for it to be removed. At the time, I was over six months PREGNANT and traveling alone for work. I had to take Benadryl, leave my business dinner early, miss the remainder of the evening with my colleagues, and spent much of the night vomiting, experiencing gastrointestinal distress, and recovering before a full day of meetings the next morning. I recognize that ingredient changes happen. What is unacceptable is failing to communicate those changes to the staff responsible for protecting guests with serious allergies. The next day, I immediately sent a detailed email to the restaurant's management and owner explaining what happened and asking what changes they planned to make to prevent this from happening to someone else. I never received a response even 2 months later. To make matters worse, I later learned they only removed the charge for the single dish that caused the allergic reaction, despite the significant impact the incident had on my evening, as well as my colleagues, and the obvious seriousness of the situation. I'm incredibly fortunate that my reaction did not progress to anaphylaxis. Another guest may not be so lucky. If you or someone you're dining with has a serious food allergy, I would think very carefully before eating here. A restaurant can make mistakes, but how it responds afterward (or shall I say lack of response) says just as much about its commitment to guest safety; and in my experience, that response was deeply disappointing.

For drinks we chose from their cocktail menu, the matcha martini and this old fashion. I loved the matcha tini as it was not too sweet and the old fashion was one of the best tasting that I have had. The chef brought out a complimentary app and it was very good. The bread butter conplimentary was a very nice surprise too! For main dish, I got the miso black cod which was full of flavor and delicious. My boyfriend got the flatiron that had chimichuri and it was perfect and one of the best steaks we ever had. It melted in our mouth. We got the ham mac and cheese and brussel sprouts for our sides which was very good. The end they have us cotton candy and birthday dessert. Hubby made a reservation for 5:45pm on a Friday because other times were taken/blocked off. We arrived and the front hostess didn't smile. She just said hello but not in a friendly way. It seemed like her only job was to check our reservation. Then an older gentleman came over to walk us to our table. Also cold personality and did not speak/greet us. No one asked us if we were there for businesses or celebrating a special occasion. However, our head/main waiter was nice and attentive. He went over the menus. I didn't like anything on the cocktail menu so I just requested a French75 cocktail and the bartender did a good job with that. Ordered the sea urchin special for an appetizer, not my favorite but my husband loved it. I ordered the John Dory fish entree and we shared a side of brussels and ham w/ 8 cheese mac n cheese. The fish entree was presented beautifully but the flavors were mild. I think the most flavor I got was from the morel mushrooms. The mac n cheese came out bare and by that I mean it was coated because the cheese was so hot that it melted to the bottom of the bowl. We waited for it to cool down so that when we stirred it up the cheese actually coated the pasta. The brussels sprouts had little a little caramelization on them but both sides dishes were just okay on flavor. Neither stood out and honestly could have skipped the brussels. I forgot the name of the fish entree my hubby got but he said it was just okay too. After an hour of being there, still very few people there and were were pretty much the only ones outside on the deck (so not sure why the lack of reservation times). There was no light music or any other chatter so it was kind of odd. Overall we thought for the price point, the overall dining experience was not something we wanted to repeat. It is very challenging to find a nice restaurant for a special occasion and unfortunately we had a dinner...just not a 5 star dinner experience.

Pleasantly surprised by the portions of the mains. They really didn't hold back on the protein, nice. On the flip side, they didn't have that much carbs but note they serve complimentary bread and olive oil as well. - Horiatiki (Greek salad): standard Greek salad, fresh feta - Saghanaki (sizzling cheese): heavy and salty but SO good, best shared amongst a group or else it'd be too much - Kolokithakia Tiganita (crispy zucchini chips): actually so addicting but the serving size was way larger than we expected lol - Pantzaria (roasted beets): delicious and refreshing! - Octapodaki tou Yiorgou (grilled octopus): so tasty but tiny lol basically one small tentacle cut up, we had to order 3 so it adds up - Arni Souvlaki (lamb skewers): huge skewers, good flavor, potatoes that came with it were really tasty too - Moscharisia Brizola (rib eye): big portion, maybe 12 oz? Tasty but I liked the lamb skewers more - Kotopoulo Souvlas (rotisserie chicken): juicy/tender but still just chicken lol
