We didn't manage to take photos of all the dishes because everything was so delicious. The khachapuri, baked in the oven with a perfectly crispy crust, was so tempting that it even won over our child. The khinkali were amazing as well -- filled with flavorful broth and delicious meat. If you're not familiar with the cuisine, there is a screen at the entrance displaying all the dishes, and it's hard to choose because everything looks so good. We went for Mother's Day. It was a disappointment all around. We asked the waitress for recommendations and upon her suggestion ordered 2 starters, a lamb stew, the pork ribs, and 8 dumplings. We had to ask for water, other tables it came to right away. We waited 10 minutes before I asked. The staters did not come out as starters. The lamb stew came out first - and when we asked what happened to the appetizers, the waitress informed us that they were gonna come later, but why was the main delivered first. Then the pork ribs came next. Again, we were still waiting for our starters. When the Pkhali arrived, which was the appetizer sampler with 3 things and bread. They were all very bland. Nothing special at all. The eggplant one was soggy and weird. The other two just lacked flavor. We also ordered the Khachapuri Imeruli, which came out last. It was fine. We had even specified that we were trying to order the two appetizers as appetizers/starters. The lamb was fine, had a bit of flavor, but nothing like I would expect from Georgian and cuisine. The ribs were also very basic, though the cheese potatoes that came with them were good but lukewarm - the ribs were hot. But the potatoes barely warm. The only thing that everyone agreed was good were the dumpling. They were hot, had a nice flavor and we enjoyed them. For $170 for 4 people: it was not worth it. And we will not be back. When we mentioned to the waitress that none of our appetizers had come out first she said "oh it's family style, and it just comes as it comes". However, the tables around us were receiving their cheese bread and appetizer samplers far before their mains. read more

this was my first time trying georgian food, so i was intrigued and excited. the place was bustling but not packed on a sunday around 1pm. was seated quickly on the outdoor patio and our order was taken shortly after. waited longer for water than i would have liked (maybe 5-10 min after ordering) and service was much less involved than i thought; i'm just accustomed to having someone check in on me throughout the meal and to offer the check. seats on the patio were also very close together, i could smell the breath of someone at the table next to me unfortunately. khachapuri adjaruli (6/10): the bread was dense but soft and chewy. i like the cheese but can't taste the egg or butter much. alone it got tiring after a bit, but with the chanakhi it was a nice carb-y compliment. lobiani (4/10): flaky pastry cooked to a lovely golden brown. filling was simple but something in the herbs was giving it a unique kick (reminds me of cumin). the sauce is tangy and breaks up the thickness of the beans. chanakhi (6/10): the pot this was served in was so cute! the pomegranate seeds were unexpected but gave delicious bursts of fruitiness during the meal. lamb was so tender and shredded easily, bell peppers and potatoes were cooked more tender. not my favorite flavor profiles and the service was not as i expected for the price point, but i'm glad i got to try a new cuisine. if i did end up back here, i would maybe want to try the dumplings and desserts read more

Was craving some khachapuri so decided to try Bevri in Palo Alto. This place is conveniently located in PA downtown on University Avenue and you can find public parking garages nearby, if street parking is unavailable. The place has a very interesting ambience - interesting artifacts representing Georgia like an old timey globe, posters, paintings all very carefully selected to transport you into the Georgian dining experience. The khachapuri was warm and delicious. The cheese was on the saltier side even for the goat/feta that is usually used. It paired well with the bread and worked for me, however it was a little too salty for my partner's taste. The mushroom khinkhali or steamed dumplings were mildly flavored and comforting. I wish they introduced spinach+cheese or other vegetarian khachapuri options on their menu. read more

The food here is so yummy and interesting - I've never had Georgian food before. The khachapuri adjaruli was my favorite - so indulgent and delicious. While I took lactaid ahead of time, the Khachapuri bread was the perfect amount of crisp and the cheese was soft. Chalaghaji - reminded me of American barbeque ribs but with Georgian spices. We asked for mashed potatoes as the side and they seemed to have cheese embedded, resulting in extra stretchy potatoes that complemented the ever so crunchy exterior of the ribs. Cultural experience without having to travel across the globe. We wanted to try out something out of curiosity and this cozy beautifully decorated place was a perfect candidate. Warm welcomed by the host, the food and drink menus are very foreign/adventurous to us. My favorite was a beet/spinach spread platter (sorry that I don't recall the Gerogian name!) which was the very first one in the menu. It was grounded with walnuts and herbs and tasted fresh and healthy. It came with two stuffed eggplant rolls I would pair a slice of it with the spread on buttery grilled toast. Chicken stew and dumplings both taste somewhere in between European (herbs, olive oil) and Asian, not perfectly suited for our taste buds but was OK to try out something different/ new. You have a restaurant situated in a prime location, serving delicious, extremely reasonably priced food and wine, with a friendly, efficient staff who don't expect tips. How?!? The owners need to write a book and sell it to the rest of America. I really enjoyed their red and white "sweet" wines by the glass. They weren't actually dessert-level, but more semi-sweet, which worked well with the dishes. If you're into Rieslings and red sangrias, they will hit the spot. The cheese boat (3.5/5), while tasty at first, became very one-note and heavy after. I think it would have suited my personal taste if it had a little more salt. But who am I to judge this cuisine; take my feedback with a grain of salt ;) Now the Pork Mtsvadi were out of this world. Beautifully marinated porky goodness with a ton of flavor. So good... The accompanying potatoes were nicely roasted, and that red sauce--fire-roasted peppers and tomatoes?!?--was slurp worthy. We also had a pear dessert that wasn't overly sweet and hit the spot without any sugar crash afterwards. When the bill arrived, and I paid by card, I got a receipt without the option to tip--just a spot for your signature. My wife and I dined at Bevri last night and had an excellent meal. We were not at all familiar with Georgian cuisine but were fortunate to have Eric as our waiter who was invaluable in helping us navigate the food and wine menu. We started with the beef and pork dumplings which were very good. The Georgian salad was excellent, esp the walnut dressing. My wife had the beef soup which she loved. The food was amazing. I've only ever ordered Kachapuri to go and I just went this past weekend to sit down and eat in the restaurant. I had soup dumplings with beef and pork and they were amazing. Be prepared to eat them hot and make sure to drink all the soup. If the liquid gets out you'll regret it because it is so delicious. I couldn't resist a kachapuri. I'd definitely recommend everyone getting an entree (which is actually doable to finish in one sitting, from the perspective of someone who usually has leftovers) and then ordering a starter or two for the table. The first time I went I got the khachapuri but opted to try some other starters since I wasn't interested in all the carbs. I would recommend making a reservations ahead of time since wait times can be a little long depending on what time you get there. For starters, the service was not ideal. The staff was far from friendly and seemed upset at our party for asking about the menu, almost with a condescending tone. I had seen other reviews talking about the poor service and can confirm that it is a quite common experience here. Inside it is actually really nice though. Dimly lit area with nice rug decorations. In terms of the food, it was just okay. The star dishes would probably be the appetizers, which are cheese and bread in different forms. Very yummy, however, I think the food quality does not match the price point. The 2nd visit was this evening w/ some friends who never experienced the cuisine of Georgian food. We enjoyed a lot of different appetizers which everyone's favorite was Khachapuri Adjaruli & the Khinkali ( mushroom & lamb ) the Georgian salad. The entrees you would think it were small but honestly the perfect portion where you didn't feel like you over ate , everything was well season & very delicious. We have had Georgian food when my husband was actually working there as an Ex Pat & it was just as good as if we were there . Our server was Abu & he was very professional & honest about the wines we had the amber wine called Tevza, Goruli Mtsvane a dry wine with hints of apricot & orange rind ( I believe ) A first time trying an amber wine which was surprisingly good . I'm use to drinking red but my husband suggested that we try something different which was a great suggestion. Everyone was very friendly & kind & professional & efficient. The inside of the place is very traditional Georgian but simple & not overly done . The restaurant is very clean as well as the restrooms were very clean. Highlights: * Khachapuri Adjaruli - The cheeseboat directly from the restaurant's logo. It took about 20min to arrive, but we were in awe when it was delivered to the table. Steaming hot, gooey salted cheese, warm chewy & crunchy bread. I was in the area for shopping and worked up a hunger. I remembered from my last trip to NYC that my Uber driver recommended I try Georgian food. I never had Georgian food until trying it for the first time at Bevri. I stopped by around 12pm on a Saturday. The place wasn't busy, so I got a cozy table inside the restaurant by the bar. I pretty much went straight to the "Favorites" section of the menu for the traditional items. I got 3 lamb Khinkali and a Adjaruli Khachapuri. I've read a few reviews saying that the food was expensive, and it's no joke. 3 dumplings was $18, and the cheese bread was $26. I was only able to eat 1 dumpling and 1/3 of the bread in one sitting, so at least there was plenty of leftovers to take home. I suppose I could see why the Khinkali were $6 a pop, because they're massive. The quality and flavor of the Khinkali reminded me of Anatolian dumplings I've had before, which makes sense since Turkey and Georgia are geographically close to each other. The dumplings were nicely steamed and juicy in the middle. The lamb was a bit gamey, but I didn't mind that much. The Kachapuri was fine. Solid bread and very, very cheesy. This was like a cheese pizza on steroids. I cracked the egg but let it run. I didn't know that you're supposed to mix the egg, cheese, and butter together to make a slurry. I only found out after I finished my meal and went home to find recipes on how to make it. I thought that this was a missed experience, and I would've benefited from the server mixing it up for me or explaining that's how it's eaten. I would come back just to do this right. read more

Ambience was very busy but we had a reservation luckily so getting a table wasn't an issue at all. The service was top notch by well mannered servers. We got the cheesy basil bread, the eggplant platter and the dumplings, the trout and the lamb kababs for our group. We enjoyed everything except the dumplings weren't that flavorful. Made a reservation for 2 around 5pm on a Saturday and had a lovely view next to the sidewalk to people watch (outdoor dining since the weather was lovely). Drink ordered: Georgian Soda - Tarkhun Tarragon Soda (10/10): so refreshing and delicious! Loved that it had a little spice since it paired well with the food. Perfect for a hot day! Freaked me out a little when I first saw it was bright green though. Food ordered: Khinkali Dumplings - Beef & Pork 5p (8/10): reminded me a bit of xiaolongbaos (shape wise) but I loved the flavor and the texture of the skin! I definitely curious about their mushroom one though. Khachapuri Adjaruli (10/10): cheesy bready goodness on a plate. This was so rich and creamy that I felt overwhelmed at times but loved it! I debated between two and three stars. Price-performance just isn't there. For example: we ordered two of the stews; those come in nice (small!) clay pots, but are not particularly good as the tomatoes they use are probably canned (so they are sour) and the ingredients just aren't that great in general, with the meat stew having miniscule amounts of meat and the veggie stew being mostly pepers and potatoes. Further, the bread rolls are ok, but too buttery and spicy; the lamb dumplings were "ok" though there is too much dough and it is kind of tough/thick. Service was OK, we had no issues, the staff was respectful though they did not offer any special insights. We sat at the entrace next to the host desk so can't really comment on the ambiance :). Overall, not a keeper at this price point. I could see this being a reasonable place for some folks who feel nostalgic but if you rule that factor out, it doesn't feel like the place delivers much. read more
