The Food My wife and I got a chance to visit Selby's for our anniversary, and it was a pleasant experience. We dined with them on their summer 2026 dinner menu. For starters, I ordered their Cucumber and Fig Salad, while my wife got their Lobster Ravioli. We followed up with Roasted Tai Snapper and Petite Filet. To finish off, we got the Strawberry Swiss Roll and Midnight Chocolate Cake. We quite enjoyed all the dishes, with the Roasted Tai Snapper being our favorite. I also have a bias toward dessert, and both the swiss roll and cake were delicious. Though we both thought the Midnight Chocolate Cake was quite dense. I still finished it though! The Miscellaneous The restaurant is along the stretch of El Camino crossing with, appropriately enough, East Selby Lane. Parking in the area is restrictive, but luckily they offer complimentary valet parking. The interior is quite spacious with a large dining room, a bar, and upstairs seating. Their staff was thoughtful and sincere, with good service. We received a card for our anniversary. They catered their menu with unique selections, but not overwhelming with choices. All in all, Selby's was a good experience.

We came here with a credit card reservation and arrived for the 5:00 PM opening, where there was already a long line of people hoping to get tables without reservations. The check in process was a bit disorganized as there were separate lines for dining room reservations and bar seating that weren't clearly marked, leading to confusion for us and several other guests. Most were in the main line which ended up being for the bar seating and then we had to get back in line for reservations. There was even a person standing outside but wasn't helping guide guests which line to get into. It's a bit of chaos with the valet parking. Restauarnt itself--elegant, modern, romantic, and quiet with dim lighting that was perfect without making it difficult to see. The prix fixe three-course menu offers excellent value, with optional supplements for premium entrées. Appetizers Creamy Burrata & Sweet Pea - Wonderfully creamy with fresh flavors, while the crispy fried chip added the perfect crunch for texture. I loved it, although my wife somehow liked it even more than I did. Handmade Agnolotti - My favorite of the appetizers. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce was outstanding, and the crispy chips elevated every bite with an amazing contrast in texture. I loved this better than the Burrata even though my wife ordered this. Entrées Petit Filet - Since my wife is pregnant, she ordered it well done. I swear our waiter had a heart attack when he heard "well done." He never tried to change her mind, but his facial expression was priceless. As expected, the steak was tough (no fault of the restaurant) because of the temperature, but it was still flavorful and enjoyable. Beef Wellington (supplement) - Absolutely incredible and one of the best Beef Wellingtons I've had. The beef was perfectly cooked, the pastry stayed beautifully crisp, and the entire dish showed how difficult this classic is to execute well. I was curious what if my wife ordered this instead and got it well done... How can they do it without burning the outer pasty? Desserts Midnight Chocolate Cake - I saw reviews comparing this to "Costco cake," and I honestly have no idea what they were eating. This was on a completely different level with an incredibly moist cake, deep chocolate flavor, and just the right amount of sweetness. The accompanying cream sauce was phenomenal and balanced the richness perfectly. Strawberry Swiss Roll - A surprisingly unique dessert thanks to the basil ice cream. On their own, I think the Swiss roll and basil ice cream would have been fairly average, but together they complemented each other beautifully and created an unexpectedly delicious combination. Overall, this was an outstanding dining experience and an incredible value, especially with the credit card dining benefit. We intentionally came in with modest expectations to avoid overhyping the experience, but we left thoroughly impressed. My only thing is that the servers speak very softly to preserve the quiet atmosphere but I literally couldn't understand half of what was said when describing the dishes. Great choice for any special occasion. Also there's a ton of street parking when we got there so no need for valet parking if you're one of the earlier dining groups. I can see it getting busy later in the night though.

I had a really great time dining at Selby's! We came here on a Thursday date night to try the bar and lounge side of the restaurant, and overall really enjoyed ourselves. Despite being a Michelin star restaurant, the whole experience was very accessible and warm without feeling overly expensive. (Especially on the bar side- see tips section) AMBIANCE: - The entire interior is both classy and modern. They pull off being elegant without being stuffy in any way. The fireplace in the main dining room, ceiling fixtures, and beautiful bar were nice visuals. FOOD & DRINK: - We tried the tuna tartare ($31,) mussels ($29) and two orders of the steak frites ($42 each.) - The steak frites was the star and cooked to perfection! My +1 said the mussels alone are substantial enough to make for a meal! - I also tried a Manhattan and it was delish! SERVICE: - The whole staff was super warm, polished, and professional. Several servers frequently checked in and took good care of us. Shout out to Lawrence! TIPS & NOTES: - If you make a reservation, note you will be making that for the dining room side (pre fixe menu- as of summer 2026 I believe it's $130pp.) - If you want to sit in the bar and lounge, note they have a separate menu, but you can also order a la carte from the pre fixe menu. Just arrive 15m before the restaurant opens to secure one of the 4 tables (or you'll wind up at the bar itself/waiting.) Overall, this was the perfect place for an elegant date night without completely breaking the bank! If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can also use your $150 credit here, which covers a lot on the bar/lounge side of the restaurant. Definitely stop by this place for an overall great dining experience!

This review is for the bar side, which is walk-in only. If you make a reservation, it'll be for the main dining room side, which is a prix fixe menu. We had a great date night here this past weekend! The bar has an elevated old school vibe, it's dark inside and for a 1 Michelin star restaurant, not terribly pricey. We walked in to put our name down on the wait list just before 6 and we were quoted a 3.5 hour wait time. Last seating is at 9pm, so we may not have made it. We decided to do some grocery shopping and get a snack, then see where we were in the line before deciding if we would stay. It was worth it, as we were able to get seated around 7:45! I ordered the Dukes' martini with gin - on their menu, it says they have the "coldest martinis on the west coast" and it really was the coldest martini I've ever had, delicious too. They give you complimentary truffle popcorn, which was nice. For food, we ordered the mussels, chicken parm, and burger. Without us asking, they split the mussels so it'd be easier for my husband and I to share, which we appreciated. Both the chicken parm and burger were excellent, juicy and filling. We brought home leftovers. Our bartender/server Lawrence (who said he's been with Selby's since day 1!) was great - attentive and friendly. I'd like to come back to try the prix fixe menu as well!

Genuinely I will remember this birthday dinner forever. We love going out to eat new places but this place tops the cake. From service to food. Our server Andres was amazing. The best service I have gotten from anyone or anywhere. The food was also just amazing. The caviar service is worth the price as well. Also they gave me a WHOLE cake, i definitely felt special and this was the perfect birthday celebration! Thank you to everyone at Selby's tonight and big thanks to our server. Will be non stop talking about this place to everyone!

With its elegant, old-school luxe environment, thoughtfully prepared New American cuisine, and impeccable service from start to finish, Selby's 1 Michelin star is indeed well-deserved. Of particular note, we asked the talented sommelier to create custom wine pairings for each dish, and he hit it out of the park without bankrupting us. ;) Pro tips: 1) take advantage of the complimentary valet parking to avoid neighborhood complications, and 2) don't hesitate to inform the restaurant staff if you're celebrating a special occasion as they will go all out! Our party of 2 enjoyed every bite of the following 3-course prix fixe menu options, with certain items carrying a reasonable surcharge: HANDMADE AGNOLOTTI Slowly Cooked Duck, Beurre Monté, Crispy Parsnips YELLOWFIN TUNA TARTARE Shio Koji Vinaigrette, Potato Chips RACK OF DURHAM RANCH VENISON Coffee-Glazed Fairytale Pumpkin, Natural Jus BEEF WELLINGTON (we added Broccolini as an extra cost accompaniment, and our gracious server threw in Truffle Fries as a bonus) SPICED-APPLE TART Hazelnut Frangipane, Dulcey Chocolate Ganache MIDNIGHT CHOCOLATE CAKE Salted Caramel, Fudge Sauce

ANOTHER DELICIOUS MEAL HERE ON EASTER. Rubel delivered the best service and food was on point, as expected. We got to sit upstairs and it was very cozy!

We went there because of the chase SR card credit. Reservation is easy but parking is not. Either valet parking or street parking if you are lucky. Inside atmosphere is nice. However, I feel like there are many people and it's a bit loud for the dinner. Overall, service is good, food is not that special but still taste delicious.

Selby's is one of the restaurants included in the Chase Sapphire Reserve Dining Collection and is featured in the Michelin Guide. I decided to go on a Thursday evening and sit at the Bar and Lounge instead of the dining room since the dining room has a set menu. I arrived at 5:30pm to find out that there was a 2 hour wait!! I was shocked, nothing special - father's day or anything. It turns out that since Chase has 2 $150 credits for dining at their selected restaurants and the first credit expires on June 30 and I went on June 26, everyone else had the same idea. We did not wait 2 hours and the hostess mentioned that if I came before they opened at 5pm, around 4:50pm, they may be able to either get me seated or the wait list would be shorter. The restaurant itself is on El Camino, between business but the front is beautiful and covered in ivy. They do not have parking, the building that they are in is shared by K&L Wine merchants and the parking is only for them not Selbys but they do offer complimentary valet, which is fast and efficient. I was going to go back on June 30, a Tuesday, but decided not to fight traffic on a weekday and ended up going on a Sunday instead, I arrived at 4:45 and there were already about 30 people in line, people showed to wait in line starting at 4:20pm. It was a hot day and not a pleasant wait but they open the doors promptly. It took time for the host to speak to each guest and discuss their options, this could have been faster. By the time I got to the front of the line, the wait list was 4 people deep and I was #5 and the wait was still an hour and a half. I decided to wait, there are 2 chairs in the lobby and fortunately I was able to snag one but they really should have more seating. They have a roof top but for reasons I did not understand and the hostess could not articulate properly, certain people were seated at the rooftop and others were not. I had been told over the phone that both bar and rooftop were available for walk ins. The wait ended up being an hour and I was seated at the bar with another person who was also dining by themselves, I had to tell the servers several times that were not together. You are immediatley greeted and the server pours you water and another brings out a small plate of truffle popcorn - delicious. They have an extensive wine list and serve cocktails as well. I ordered a glass of champagne. I took one star off for the lack of seating and for the pours, they were less than generous. When dining in the bar, you can order from the bar menu or the dining room menu. I decided to order from the bar menu. I got the plate of mussels and the black truffle burger. The mussels are $29 for a pound and that itself can be sufficient for a meal, it comes with a thick slice of toast to soak up the juices. I ended up not eating the burger but taking it to go. The burger was $55 and is served with fries. Both dishes were outstanding but a little salty. I also got the Pinot Noir Rose and it was better than the champagne. Service was great if not a bit delayed because they were very busy. Would I go back, probably if I did not have to fight the crowds to get in.

$130 set, had the fava bean soup, duck and passion fruit tart. My husband had the endive salad, petit filet and chocolate cake. They were all delicious. Nice romantic ambiance and good service. Slightly small in portion but it's a Michelin star restaurant so it is what it is

My partner and I dined here on a Friday evening and we had a great dining experience. Our server was knowledgeable and was extremely attentive. The food on the other hand was ok. I think my favorite thing is the yellowfin tuna tartar, which was fresh. I got the roasted liberty duck, and even though the sauce was flavorful, I think the duck was a bit gamey and dry. My partner got the beef wellington, and it was def on the dryer side too. Overall, the dining experience was wonderful but I had higher expectation for the food.

Another great dinner experience at Selby's! During our second visit, our server, Suzanne, acknowledged our return and made the evening fantastic. She was personable, attentive, friendly, and fully engaged. Everyone on staff we interacted with met the same high standard. The interior has a classic fine-dining vibe with touches of modern elegance. During our first visit we sat in the lower dining room, and this time it was on the second floor. Both offer the same refined, well decored atmosphere. And the food was outstanding. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare which was bright, fresh, and perfectly seasoned and paired with chips. The Homemade Agnolotti were delicate pillows of rich, savory filling and topped with crispy parsnips to vary the texture of each bite. For mains, the Roasted Liberty Duck was cooked to tender perfection with crisp skin, and the Roasted Tai Snapper was flaky and flavorful, set off by a beautiful sauce. For dessert the Midnight Chocolate Cake is a musthave; decadent, and not too sweet. That's not all, there's also the amuse-bouche at the start of the meal, popovers with butter and tallow, and additional sweet treats after dessert. For my next visit I'll definitely need to try the Beef Wellington. I noticed a few other tables ordering it, and it looked delicious!

Selby's is a Michelin star restaurant and honestly one of the more affordable ones you'll find in the Bay Area. Just keep in mind the food is more on the traditional American side - think elevated comfort rather than the super intricate or elaborate dishes you'd see at some of the Michelin spots in SF. The base menu is reasonably priced, but if you're adding wine and going for the supplemental dishes like we did, it can add up more than you'd expect. Parking can be tough, so if you have a later reservation I'd suggest doing the complimentary valet. If you are one of the first few seatings, there may be street parking within a block or so. As for the inside, it is on the darker side but it is nice and they have music playing in the background. Service was great - we had Stanley (I believe that was his name). He gave us good recommendations for white and red wine pairings based on what we chose for our appetizer and entrees. There were some specials going on the day we dined, which made the overall meal more enjoyable - they had lobster ravioli (+$10) and veal filet/striploin (+$16). I was also able to taste some of my wife's petite filet - it was good and the filet was quite tasty but it was definitely slightly chewier than my veal. My veal sauce was also better as there was truffle in it. I wasn't the biggest fan of the veal sides though, as it was farro and asparagus compared to the mushrooms and potato with the filet. Dessert was great though. We got the sticky toffee and the midnight chocolate cake. Sticky toffee was moist but still had a slight chew to it. The cranberry orange compote was interesting, but can't say it's my favorite combination. Chocolate cake was very moist and not too sweet, and was a pretty big slice as well. This was great. One thing worth noting - we did not receive an amuse bouche, despite noticing that the tables around us did. We weren't celebrating a special occasion, but we did order 4-5 glasses of wine and both supplemental dishes, so it was a bit surprising to be passed over. Not sure if there's a specific reason for it, but something worth noting.

    Selby's Reviews in Other Languages

    Ask the Community - Selby's

How much for a kid to have the dinner?

Menu price, as it should be. I suppose you could talk with them about 'the kid' to have a single entree. A babysitter about the same an hour.

Is Beef Wellington/main dinner menu offered at the bar?

    Yes it is

    How much is Velvet Parking?

'Free' but on the Peninsula a $10 -20 tip is typical especially for this place. Impress your date!!! And really once you've paid for dinner the tip is a small piece of your evening.

    Is there a dress code?

Not sure if there is a dress code, but definitely not a place to show up in causal clothes. I would say smart casual is the right level of dress.

    What is the typical attire?

    Formal

Do you have baked Alaska dessert?

    not on their current menu

Do they have good vegetarian options?

    Yes!

    Is there any outdoor seating?

No, they don't have outdoor seating

    Does the restaurant allow children?

I went there twice, but not seeing any infant. I recall the youngest I saw was around 6-9 years old.

Is the corkage really $50.00/bottle and is it waived if you purchase a bottle from their list?

As of Jan 2024, the wine menu says: THE CORKAGE FEE IS $65 PER 750ML BOTTLE.

My Yelp Elite friend and I arrived early, and I got a parking spot right near the entrance. This nice restaurant sits right next to the airport runway, and we could watch planes coming in for a landing! We walked in just before 5pm. My initial impression of the dining room was it kind of looked a little like the Flemings @ Palo Alto. We were seated in a booth in the bar lounge. We were away from the main dining room, but we still received very attentive service. The menu seemed a bit limited, but I knew what I wanted to order. I ordered: - Classic Caesar Salad - "The Gomez" -10 oz Prime Rib w/ Cream Spinach and Izzy's Potatoes - Aperitivo Tropicale cocktail - Sourdough Bread, to share - Pelegrino water, bottle My friend ordered: - Wild Arugula Salad - 14 oz NY Strip Steak The Classic Caesar Salad was great. I haven't had a traditional Caesar with whole romaine lettuce in a long time. Crunchy and fresh, the lettuce was like a stage for the yummy dressing, cheese, and anchovies. The Prime Rib was 5-stars! OMG! Melt in your mouth tender! Cuts like warm butter! Au Jus and horseradish on the side. Supporting cast....creamed spinach and Izzy's potatoes. Perfect! Along with warm sourdough bread. Service was great! Very attentive. Even the Manager came by several times. I'm glad we were able to come try this restaurant before it closes permanently on Oct 4th. The community will lose a great restaurant, and good people will lose their jobs. We will miss the good food and the fine dining experience.

It was excellent that my kids were able to come in their baseball uniform in their golf attire. Family of five was quickly seated. My son loves all the baseball sports things in here. Very friendly and cozy. Two steaks both medium rare.. was a five star hit! I loved my Seabass. It was the best fish I have had in a long time. My compliments were given to the kitchen with a nice tip. I love the creamed spinach here. Our picky little toddler really enjoyed the pasta. It was a homemade marinara sauce. Best marinara sauce! We will be back for 2027 summer Stanford baseball and dine at our new fav steakhouse!

We have eaten at the restaurant before and their in person customer service was good but the pick up order, they need to do better. The waitress didnt acknowledge and it was hard to get their attention - took multiple attempts. They didn't give updates on the order either despite saying it's going to be 5 mins and no updates 10 mins later so had to follow up (their website had said it was ready long before). The issue isn't the delay in ordering being ready, it's the customer service and not being inviting for customers that are picking up food - made it seem like they don't care for that clientele The food is good, we got the following: - Buttered Broccoli & Carrots - tasty and delicious - (who doesn't love vegetables) Strawberry Arugula Salad -no complaints USDA Prime Ribeye Steak, 15 oz. - my husband loved it Slow-Roasted Prime Rib, - , decent, I liked their Au Jus sauce is delicious and they have good horseradish sauce too Filet Mignon Spring Rolls - delicious but super oily: 3 stars Sundance Wild Rice Pilaf - 3.5 stars Customer service - horrible for pickup orders

What an AMAZING and beautiful restaurant!! This is the best all around restaurant I have been to…read moreon the Peninsula and perhaps all of the Bay Area in terms of setting, food and service!! I really never post, but Hurrica Restaurant deserved this 5 star post. I have been in the restaurant industry for 25+ years and love great food and not many places blow me away. Hurrica just did. First, the service was impeccable from start to finish. the marina setting is just beautiful. The decor of the restaurant is incredible including the huge jelly fish tank. in the middle of the restaurant. They did not miss one detail when building this place. Then came the food and drinks......WOW! We had perhaps the best raw oysters I had ever had and I love oysters!! Then the scallop appetizer with the mouthwatering milk bread was a PERFECT match. The trio lamb entree was fantastic. The pork Banh Mi sandwich was perfect as well. We finished the night off with the warm bread pudding which is to die for! They even had great evening live music on the outside barge facing the restaurant, which I think is every Thursday? All in all, Hurrica gets 5 stars in every possible aspect of our experience. Please do yourself a favor and go to Hurrica. A great date night or anniversary spot. Also a great spot for lunch or after work drinks and dinner. THANK YOU HURRICA AND STAFF!

It is gorgeous and contemporary with waterfront views and large covered veranda for outdoor seating. The indoor seating surrounds a huge tank with moon jellyfish that keep kids and adults alike mesmerized. The food is excellent. The milk bread is warm and soft and comes with a delicious savory butter with an apricot jam. The onion rings are my favorite. They are huge and fried just right while not being oily. The whole fish from the hearth was large and very fresh and skillfully deboned by the server at the table. We also enjoyed the short ribs and halibut which came with generous and tasty sides. The owner is a hostess with the mostest, making sure to warmly greet every guest and make each guest feel welcomed and special. She came by with two extra chocolate cakes as treats for our kids. Would highly recommend! Reservations can be made on open table.

Long wait time…read more 3/22/25 I came here for lunch with a group of 10. We sat outside on the patio since I brought my dog Coco. The grillhouse is located in a plaza off Redwood Shores Parkway. Parking was very easy to find. Here's what I got: GH shrimp po boy with seasoned fries I will say that it did take a while for everyone to decide on what to order since they were 10 of us. And I think because since we were a bigger party, our food took 30 minutes to come out. I think my sandwich overall was just OK. The bread was kind of hard and the shrimp could have been seasoned better. The seasoned fries were the star of the plate. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing that day, but I'm willing to give them another try.

Upon walking in there was private event going on, so I had to sit outside which was ok. I was very hungry so I ordered the Hickory Burger and the grilled buffalo wings after a recommendation made by the waitress. Hickory Burger: Surprised it was small and very disappointing. The bacon was overcooked and dry which I should have taken a picture of. The bun used was a sesame seed bun and made a mess every time I grabbed the burger from the seeds on the bun. The burger comes with bbq sauce on it but I chose to add it on the side. The seasoned fries sounded great but was really salty and was one of the worst fries I've had in a while. I had ranch dipping sauce so I dipped there many times to combat the over power seasoning. It did the job to fill my stomach, but I wasn't satisfied. Overall I don't know if this is place I'd go out of my way to come to again.

When we arrived, we debated on where to be sat to be able to view the World Cup final. We were just a party of 4 but the bar tables were for parties of 2. We were prepared to split into two separate tables. The manager took it upon himself to offer a larger table that had a perfect view of a TV. It was so nice of him! We did order split plates (an extra charge) but the kitchen did serve them on split plates, which was nice. The burgers were super juicy and delicious. The fries were served hot and crispy. We did other appetizers of candied bacon which was disappointing. It just tasted like regular bacon. Not especially thick or sweet. That was the only disappointment of the visit. We also ordered the wings which were super delicious! We really enjoyed them. Our server Tanya was so friendly and accommodating. She was amazing. Overall a great experience.
