I was using another company and just didn't Feel I was getting a fair deal, they told me I needed to cough up $5k for a new boiler. Nope. 2nd opinion. Called my realtor and asked him who he used, he said without a doubt, Arzet. Sure enough, Walter came and assessed and we came away spending $700 and our boiler is done. I mean, cmon. We hired ARZET Hvac to replace our AC unit. Two days later, our furnace started leaking.  We called them, they came and fixed. Few days later same issue happened, we called again, they came again and fixed. It happened for the 3rd time again, we called again, now they came, run some tests, and informed us that our system has a leak and that we need to replace our copper line system and that will cost us additional 1300-1800$ depending on if we want them to cut the wall and place lines inside the wall or to be exposed. I tried contacting their manager, but he would not return my call. Hence, I took uber and went to 3271 W Armitage (address listed on their documents) hoping I would be able to talk to someone. That address exists but their office does not. I called them, asked them to confirm address, which they did and when I said I was there, but office is not there, I was told they can't tell me address and that I can't go to their office. Finally, next day manager called me to explain about the leak and additional expenses. In this industry, standard procedure is to remove old AC, perform pressurized nitrogen test to see if there was a leak in the system, clean and install a new one. I asked manager if they followed all steps, he said yes. I asked, if so, how come we did not discover the leak immediately and you are telling me now after 3 weeks there was a leak, and we need to pay almost 2k extra. His response was: "well, you wanted us to give you a better price at the beginning so we had to cut corners, we could not perform all steps, so we did not do this test" On the top of this, they reduced copper line from 3/8" to 1/8" which was against Chicago code. I told them they need to come and fix this but that I am not going to pay for this since they skipped the test and did not inform me on time about additional cost. At the end, we met at $450 but they insisted me to pay upfront. Next, they came to install exposed copper lines. Once installation was done, we realized that they messed up something again because new system was vibrating and making noises while AC was on. While installing this, they also burnt our bedding and mattress. Worst part is that they drilled a new hole in the exterior wall in 45 stories high rise which is against every rule and common sense. After I tried to have them come over again to fix new issues, I was told by their manager that they are scared I am going to sue them, so they offered to give us 100% refund and take their equipment back. read more

I am out of town traveling and I get a call from my wife (home with our newborn baby) letting me know that our air conditioner has stopped working. I take her through all my usual tricks of unplugging and restart ... nothing. I then call around to a few places who let me know it might be a few days before someone can on out.... but then I find Walter! He is amazing he was out the very next day! On-time! was a quick and thorough job, he replaced a burnt-out piece and even gave us pointers on how to maintain the units for a better/longer life out of our units! Absolute scam. Luis came out to my condo Saturday night (1/19) to diagnose the issue, charged me $250, after I was told earlier that day it would be $185 for a service call, but whatever, Luis told me it'd be applied to my future bill when they came back to repair the unit. Monday (1/21) I contacted them for a status update, was told no update to provide, they were waiting on the supplier. That's fine; I am patient. Tuesday, silence. Wednesday I contacted at 8A, spoke to a girl who said the technician would contact me. 12P I called again and Walter (the owner) told me he did not have an answer for me. I told him this was absolutely unacceptable and to find a solution, he asked for 3 hours and would return my call. 4:30PM I called again, spoke to another girl who said she would ensure Walt called me. At 6:30 my male friend called and spoke to Walt who, within 6 minutes, broke down to my friend saying he did not know how to find the part for the solution. My friend asked for the necessary repair part ID number so he could send out a mass message via Yelp to other technicians. He received messages back inquiring for more info; people saying they do not operate on my unit; and my personal favorite Walt himself, without having realized this was my friends posting, saying he does not operate on these units. I'M SORRY??????? Did you not just take my $250, claiming you could repair the heater, leave me without heat for days??? Only to come to the conclusion you, in fact, cannot operate on my unit? Fast forward, somehow Walt does in fact get the part I needed ordered, NINETEEN days later (2/5) he comes to install the part (mind you the polar vortex happened in here and my pipes burst - no wonder) and turns out two coils were broken while they only identified one broken at the service call. Walter told me it would be another 30 days for the second coil. (2/13) My friend ordered a second coil off the internet for $30 and got another HVAC technician to come out to look at my heater and within 2 hours the heat was working. Turns out Walter's coil was not properly installed in the heater. So he took my money and was completely incapable of operating on my unit. He should not have accepted the work. Walter is running an absolute scam here, he is not qualified to operate on electric heaters yet falsely misrepresented to me he could. Walter's team member was blatantly negligent as he did not identify a second coil was broken (the two broken coils were next to each other). This con-man left me without heat for TWENTY. SEVEN. DAYS. Beware Arzet Heating & Air, they will rip you off when your air conditioning breaks down in the summer heat. The a/c at my condo went out and I called Arzet to come take a look. They told me I needed a new run capacitor and the total charge would be $625. Pretty pricey, but worth it to get the air running again! Then a few hours later the air was not cold at all so I called and they scheduled a visit for tomorrow. The next visit they told me I had a freon leak which needed to be fixed and I had three options: 1) Recharge the freon and add leak stopper for $1100 2) Do a leak test and repair the leak and add freon for $1700 3) Replace the whole system for $5200 I chose option two because the unit is 11 years old and it should last for a few more years at least. They did the leak test for maybe 2 hours and told me they could not find the leak and it must be in the wall so there is nothing they can do. Also they will add leak stopper to the freon recharge which will be an additional $275. So I had to pay them $1975 because I chose option two instead of option 1, which would have saved me $875. I called them about this obvious discrepancy in my invoice and they said a manager would get back to me by the end of the day. No one ever called me back. So I paid $2600, half the cost of a new system for them to not solve my problem. Call anyone else if you want to save yourself thousands of dollars for a normal service call. read more

We had a great experience working with Arzet. Walter was communicative, flexible and always prompt, friendly and professional. We have a unique, decades-old HVAC system that baffled literally every other company service person that came to work on it. And, in fact, the company we spoke with before finding Arzet on Yelp flat out refused to work on it after seeing it. In contrast, Walter was able to figure out how the system was set up in his first few minutes of examining it. He was also able to diagnose the problem and even come up with a temporary patch that would give us air conditioning again while we waited for the custom parts to come in for a replacement. Started out as a good interaction, Arzet had been recommended to me by another condo in my building. My A/C failed in the middle of a heat wave. They responded quickly, found that my freon was low, and recommended recharging. The bill was high, $600, but it was over a weekend, and I figured it was premium rates. 1 week later, the A/C failed again, and they came out and found the freon had leaked again. I told them my condo unit would be paying for repairs, and I needed a quote to locate the leak. After several attempts to get a response, they quoted me $1600 just to locate the problem. I ended up hiring a different company. The new company charged $300 to diagnose, and found the leak within 15 minutes. And they saw the initial bill from Arzet, and commented that it was way higher than industry standard for simple pressure check and recharge. read more

We had a very positive experience with Arzet, not only are they very responsive to inquiries but they are also sincere, ethical and very reasonably priced. This was the first time we needed to hire someone to take a look at our furnace and so we called around a few places for estimates. Arzet by far was the most economical in terms of what was needed (simple winter maintenance). I know people that work in the industry but live quite far and they gave me a ballpark figure of what is a reasonable price to charge (nothing over $80) which was what Arzet charged($75). Other places quoted me as high as $125 and another one $80 for the 1st hr and then $35 thereafter. I do not like these type of "surprises" and conditional pricing because it is very easy to overcharge to benefit themselves. I want a set price and a reasonable at that and Arzet provided that. But aside from their prices, we never felt they were trying to lure us in getting/buying unnecessary things. They were efficient and knowledgeable in their craft and provided an honest assessment. We will definitely continue to use them for any AC/heating needs. read more

After talking to dozens of HVAC companies, Walter was the only one who devised a creative plan to solve an issue with a very difficult to heat space (25 ft ceilings in concrete loft).
