Alex helped swap out our old washer/dryer for a new one. He was pleasant to work with, responsive, on time for our scheduled service, and got the job done without any issues. Before installing the new machines, he pointed out some differences between the functioning of our old and new units, and how he was going to test the proper functioning of the new units after they were installed. He tested both machines after installation and made sure there were no leaks with the washer and that the air flow was good for the dryer. He said we should contact him if we noticed any issues. We had a washer, dryer, and dishwasher all on the fritz, so I used Yelp's get a quote feature and decided on Alex from there. The day of the appointment he texted me updates so I was aware of about how far out he was from arriving. In a work from home world I really appreciated that. Alex took the time to explain all the issues he noticed with our appliances and what the options would be to fix them. He was straight with us with the fact that it would cost more to fix our washer than to replace it, and that the dryer had issues the building would need to take care of. For the dishwasher he was prepared with some parts in his car and offered us the option of either repairing it ourselves or paying him to. I was fine letting him take care of it and he got it done quickly as my wife and I were able to get some work done. After I Venmo'd him payment he promptly sent a receipt and report of what he found and fixed. I contacted Chicago Repairmen about a intermittent heating dryer issue. Lenore scheduled Alex from Infinite Appliance to come help. Lenore also explained their diagnostic fee and labor+parts repair costs that I might expect. It was helpful because it allowed me to decide to go with them, instead of a couple other places I was looking into. I wasn't in a hurry, but they had an opening less than 24 hours after I contacted them; I opted for a few days later for a time slot that better fit my schedule. Alex diagnosed the 2 issues within 10 minutes. He was very thorough with his explanation, which I appreciated. One issue was something he could fix immediately, which was awesome. The second issue was that the dryer vent needed to be cleaned out, a service he (Infinite Appliance) didn't offer... but he made a recommendation for a company that could do it. Very satisfied. They fixed a Bosch dishwasher with a mechanical issue. I contacted them for a problem with a freezer not defrosting nor sending cool air into the refrigerator below. The tech did very little diagnostic work to determine if the problem was the thermostat, the defrost heater, the defrost timer or the evaporator fan. His solution was that he would order several replacement parts and try to discover the problem by process of elimination. This I can perhaps understand. However, when I noticed additional symptoms the following day I messaged Alex via Yelp, thinking that it would narrow down the cause of the problem. He did not reply, and that was five days ago. Chicago Repairmen did respond promptly to my initial request for service ( hence the two stars ) but otherwise it felt like a waste of money. read more

Chicago Repairmen got back to me the fastest (within a few minutes after I messaged them before 8am) and they were able to schedule a service call for the next day. The technician, Jordan, was very helpful and efficient. He was on time within the window I was given, and was in and out in 20 minutes. I thought the labor cost was a little steep ($250 flat fee) for a repair that was done so easily and in little time, but in reality I thought I was going to be stuck buying a new fridge, so I'm happy! I went with Chicago Repairmen because they offered a flat fee for the repair for my refrigerator. For other past appliance repairs I recall paying a $120 no-refundable service charge, and then was stuck with whatever they quoted for the repair. They had the earliest appointment of any of the 3 companies I contacted, were on time, diagnosed the problem right away, fixed it quickly, were neat and clean (cleaned under the cheese drawer and behind the fridge), and even helped me with other appliance issues (diagnosed ice maker, cleaned dryer vent, etc.). Alex and Justin have helped me tremendously with a washing machine issue that I've been dealing with. Ultimately they were unable to repair it but it was due to their specific knowledge, expertise and consultation that I am comforted in recommending this company. They are super honest quick to respond and reliable - they came to diagnose an issue we were having and although it was frustrating that we couldn't find the source of the problem, they came to our home on two separate occasions, had us send video and really tried to thoroughly rule out an issue before jumping to repair. This is critical because many repair people will tell you they can fix it, charge you an arm and a leg for parts and you might still be in the same situation. Although we were unable to get our appliance repaired the diagnostic information and consultation that Alex and Justin provided us made us feel like we were working with honest and hardworking people. Also Lenore was very helpful and efficient in getting me a quote, explaining the fees and certificate of insurance quickly. Chicago Repairmen were awesome! I only requested a Subzero refrigerator tune up and they were awesome start to finish. They responded to my quote request quickly, confirmed the appointment as well. They were here a little after the quoted start time frame and communicated the whole time before he arrived. When he showed, introduced himself, asked about shoes and got to work asking questions about the unit. He explained exactly what he was going to be doing and asked if I had any questions. I recently ran into trouble with my washer (it would wash just fine, but not rinse or spin). Chicago Repairmen got back to me very quickly and asked me to sum up the problem, provide the brand and model number and also send a few pictures. Just a couple days later, Justin stopped over and had the washer going again in 20 minutes. He'd said once he saw the photos he knew the problem: a broken or corroded lid switch.
